Pineapple Jacks is NOT the place to go... dirty, Smokey, and rude employees... poor service, dirty bathrooms, no toilet paper, no hand towels, food is terrible and the place is dirty! I would hate to see what their kitchen looks like, not clean and well run. As their employees are very uncaring, rude, and lacks the class one would expect. Smells so bad here didn't even eat here we couldn't handle the smell. No one even came to host us terrible service.

Dislikes: -Smoking room(The smoke still leeches out into the rest of the facility) -Difficult to get a drink -always a cover charge -and let those creepy people in that sell flowers from buckets(I hate that!) -terrible food -meat heads! (Major lady turnoff) -fights -karaoke- the KJ is a jerk and is picky about who he choses ... Actually more time is spent listening to him. He thinks he's good -did I mention a cover? What a local watering hole. I am not a fan of this place. My own father, (who doesn't have high standards for restaurants) was concerned when I told him I was stopping there for a beer once this summer. It is just one of those places that makes me feel like I need to take a shower after going in. The atmosphere is very dingy, and the larger back portion of the bar is a smoking area. They have a few dartboards and a pool table, juke box, etc. The food isn't great. Normally there are your trashy-townie types; you know, like the middle aged woman with a raspy voice and overly box-dyed hair that is chain smoking, buzzed, and complaining about what an a-hole her husband is to another character that happens to be her friend, or a pudgy man she is picking up. This was not my first time at PJ's, but the first in many years, so I thought maybe it had gotten better. WRONG! It was a Thursday night, and there was one other table of 4 people in the dining room. There were 4 people at the bar. We were seated right away, and the server came over in just a few minutes. We placed our drink order, and waited 14 minutes before the Coke and glass of wine appeared. She blamed the bar staff that she had to wait to get the liquor, yet we witnessed the bartender lounging, and talking to the 4 bar customers... Hubby ordered a steak bomber and mine was a baked haddock, baked potato and broccoli - cooked with no butter or oil. After another 20 minutes, we were served, and except for the potato, everything was tasty and right. The potato was old and reheated, not very good, but I don't eat much of it anyway, so not a deal-breaker. We had to ask for salt, pepper and ketchup to be brought to the table. That's not right and should be there on every table regardless. The server never acknowledged that my wine glass was empty, even after I placed it at the edge of the table it took a few pass-bys before she noticed. She came by when we were done and asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. After declining either, she brought the check, yet never cleared our dirty plates. The hostess finally came over and took the dirty plates away and asked how thing were. Not wanting to burden the hostess about the poor service, we didn't really reply. Came here as part as my friend's bachelorette party. We had a party bus and unfortunately this was one of the stops. We walked in and I immediately felt the coldness. The service was non damn existent and once we did receive a miserable 'hi' from the bartender, he was rude AF. The place was beyond empty, I'm pretty sure it had more staff than actual customers. We asked if they could turn on the music, they told us only if we go into the deadly smoking section. Once we got into that area, my friend paid for music on the modern day jukebox but couldn't hear it. When she asked a different bartender if she could turn it up, she was told, "I can turn it up but the owner told me not to"....alright that was pretty much all I needed to hear. I rounded everyone up and said, "let's go." I'd rather party on the corner of Avenue D than frequent this place again. read more

Ugh. THIS place. We always seem to end up here when organizing a night out because it's a central meeting place for all of our friends and there is a smoking room. The smoking lounge is great for Rochester winters, but good lord- you come out smelling like you just rolled in an ashtray. Even as a smoker, I feel absolutely disgusting after leaving. You'll also catch quite a few fights between drunken rejects from The Jersey Shore and probably find a few girls sobbing in the bathroom because their juice head boyfriend was flirting with some other girl. I've also heard many a story about this being a coke bar. As a devout graduate of the D.A.R.E program, I know nothing of this and haven't personally witnessed it, though it wouldn't come as a shock. This place is some weird, unavoidable Rochester vortex. You want to go anywhere but here but always seem to end up here and swear you'll never come back. If you're looking for a classy place- this isn't it. Not by a long shot. If you want a place where the douchebags and second hand smoke is aplenty, you've found your niche in the world. read more

Tonight I brought my friend from high school. She had the shrimp scampy. I had the chicken parmigiano. Both meals were excellent, and the price was very reasonable. My server was very friendly. We had a great time. read more

Upon arriving to Pineapple Jack's there was not a hostess in sight at the almost vacant restaurant. so we made out way to the bar where the bartender was clearly under the influence of SOMETHING, and proceeded to break not one, but two glasses. After being seated I encountered the most horrible customer services I have ever received. The waitress couldn't have provided more of a nightmare of service. Instead of finding a way to have our 12 person party to sit together, they split us up into 2 separate tables. In asking if we could move our large party together by sliding the two tables side by side, her response was we could do it if we did it ourselves because it was "way too much work" for her. For a profession that thrives upon earning tips as a form of income, a 12 person party seems to be an opportunity to earn a decent amount of money. Apparently when our waitress took her job she was unaware that good customer service was a vital part of making money. read more

My boyfriend and I went there first time and few times until guy spilled his beer on our food at bar counter. He refused to buy us new food. We called bartender and told him our food ruined because guy refuse to pay new food. Bartender walked to kitchen talk with someone that we don't know who. He never bring us owner or manager. We got very angry because bartender told us we can't serve you new food and we offering free drinks. It was unacceptable and we were starving very bad. We left with no pay any charges because it RIPPED us OFF! I have tried call them and kept getting hung ups. Even pineapple jacks doesn't have website or email. I posted complaint to their Facebook page review. Someone from pineapple jacks finally answered. I explained clear what happened. I thought get it straight out and all sudden stopped talk w me. No owner or manager say something to me. I highly recommend don't go there because it seem owner and manager didn't say anything to customers about their lousy service n will not come talk solve problem. Even BBB can't help me because they not responsible with rip off issues. They suggested small claim court. Please please don't get rip off from them. They are FISHY! read more

Dragged here one night while visiting Rochester and I thought I was in Jersey. Kind of a trashy building in a strip mall parking lot. It was pretty busy, but had I been on a manhunt this is definitely NOT the place to go. However, I was there with friends and we were there to have a good time and that's exactly what happened. The beer selection is nil, but I survived on Yuengling (can't get that in Cali, so I suck it up when I'm on the east coast). We were there for karaoke night and I like to sing karaoke, but the KJ is a jerk and picky about who he gives the mic. Since some of the people in my party were regulars, I understand this is normal behavior. Usually KJ's are not like this, so I was disappointed with that. Otherwise I had a good time and the customers are unpretentious and friendly which is nice, but not really the type of bar I like to frequent. I give it 4 stars since I had a rockin' time when I was there and that's what a bar is all about. read more

a party of 12 arrived at 4:30 for dinner. Although seated immediately and orders taken it took over a hour to get our food -- most of which was cold. my pasta dish (special) was more like glue & shrimp. Cold overcooked pasta with a hint of garlic sauce -- I had to look for the artichokes. The condiments were brought to the table 25 minutes after the food and only when one guest went and asked again for them. Unfortunately one condiment was steak sauce and the steak was cold before the sauce arrived. 2 tables got up and walked out, another table had to search out the waitress for their check. We too had to seek out our check. They were short staffed, which appears to be the norm from reading some reviews. The waitress apologized for the short staff and was very sweet, but the owner should have been involved with assisting or aplolgizing. read more

I was at the West Webster fundraiser last night and gladly donated money to see several bands INCLUDING Lou Gramm as was advertised in the Democrat and Chronicle earlier in the week. You can imagine my surprise when after 3 hours he was still not on stage. There were others in the crowd waiting to hear him as well. Upon checking with an employee as to what the hold up was, I was informed he was there to sign autographs only and not perform and that the D&C article was written in error. I feel that there should have been a sign posted on the door so concert goers where aware of the change and could decide whether to still attend. We were misled and I will not go to Pineapple Jacks again. read more

Went here the other night for drinks and karaoke. Frank, the karaoke guy was very friendly and helpful but the atmosphere was bad as I felt like I was being rushed out of the bar. It was only 11 p.m. and not very crowded and the 2 guys who I found out later were the owner and his son gave the impression that they wanted to close up early and go home. I was one of 3 people seated at the bar and when I asked the owner's son for a drink he grunted in something that sounded like "maybe" english and nodded his head toward the girl working behind the bar. I guess he thought he was too good to serve a drink. My wife was singing a song when the owner brushed his huge dustmop along the tops of her shoes and never apologized to her but made her feel as though she was in his way. These guys shouldn't be allowed to run a lemonade stand. I probably will go back again to sing but not for the drinks as the watered down gin and tonic I had barely masked the taste in my mouth of the urinal cakes cascading from the men's room. These guys have a good set up and a good location but they need to learn how to be a little better hosts. read more
