I love tarts with Asian inspired flavors, so I was excited to check out this new spot. Stopped by around 1 PM in a Monday, on "grand opening weekend," but not crowded and not much of an opening buzz. It's a cute bake shop with parking in front and back. I tried the mini tart flight, which came in five flavors. The tarts are very small- more like bite size portions. Since I am drawn to tea-inspired flavors, my favorite was the peach earl grey followed by the fig oolong. However because the tarts were so tiny, it was difficult to fully experience the layers of each flavor. I plan to come back to try the regular size tarts and explore the drink menu. What a nice addition to Alhambra Downtown. It's nice to see the area changing throughout the year and see it develop in different ways. Anyways, very cute shop. It's got nice interior design, making it very cozy and small. I really love the oil green background/wall, as green had become one of my new favorite color. Finally, the tart, which is something I usually don't prefer in a dessert. But the Peach Earl Grey Tart was mawhhhhh. So good. And you can even get a mini flight to taste multiple offering. Fruit tarts are one of my favorite pastries. To find out a bakery that did exclusively fruit tarts right near my house was pretty exciting. We came out early on their grand opening day. Wasn't sure how "viral" this place would be but as it turned out, it def went viral as the line stretched down Main Street by time they opened. There are 5 fruit tart flavors you can buy as either a flight, to get a bite size of each flavor. Or the regular full size which is about 4" across. The flavors will change depending on what is in season. If I remember correctly, there was a fig, a banana miso caramel, peach earl grey, a passion fruit, a mango. Surprisingly no berry flavor. Got the flight as well as full size banana and peach. Everything tasted amazing. Crust is nice and flaky, very soft. Filling is done with finesse. Not too sweet but lot of flavor within. Fruit all tasted fresh!! They have kind of odd hours so I recommend checking. And they currently have a limit of 2 tarts per person. Very nice addition to alhambra main st food joints. Nice cute bakeshop. The shop specializes in tarts. They have the mini tart flight and the bigger version of each flavor (sold separately). For the flight of 5 tarts, it was $16. For the big tarts, it was like $15 each. IMO, the tarts were pricey. I don't know about the bigger tarts, but the mini tarts didn't have much flavors to it. I couldn't really tell which flavor was which. The one that stood out most (flavor wise) was the passion fruit. I could also somewhat tasted the earl grey one. The tarts were good, but it was a bit too much cream since the tarts were so small. I tasted more of the cream than anything else. If you don't mind spending lots on tarts then maybe the big ones are better. I m sure the flavors in the bigger ones would stand out more. Well, I hope so. I ordered 2 drinks. I ordered Hojicha latte. The gal charged me extra for it to be sweetened. That was something that should be offered without charge...sweeten or not. If I wanted a flavor syrup then it was more understandable. However, it was just simple syrup. What was ridiculous was paying for it, but my drink wasn't even sweetened. I left then realized it...unfortunately. The shady monkey was a matcha with banana cream. Didn't get to try it, but the individual who drank it didn't finish it. So dunno if it was good or not. Visited for their grand opening! They had already run out of tote bags, and there was a line of about 20 people outside. The wait wasn't too bad. The mango sticky rice tart and mini tart flight together were $31. There is limited seating inside. They do offer free cups of water. My favorite was the banana tart. The portions were a little small for the price, but it was worth a try because the fruits were high quality. The staff were friendly and even cleared our plates for us. Some of the cutest tarts ever! Me and my friend decided to go visit and try some of the tarts. The wait wasn't too bad , around 30 mins in the afternoon. Staff were kind enough to let us know if and when the tarts are going to be sold out including the tote bags . They also passed down the menu which is nice. The interior is kinda small with some seating and is aesthetically pleasing. Since it was our first time, we decided to split the tart flight and the Mango Sticky Rice tart. Tart flight: 8/10 The tart flight comes in all of their tarts in mini sized. Starting with the Figgy Xuan Oolong Tart, it was a little underwhelming with an aftertaste of crust, however it would be best to retry again full size. Meanwhile the Banana Miso Caramel Cream is reminiscent of banana pudding which is really nice. The passion Mango Tart does have a nice sourness from the passion fruit yet refreshing. With Peach Earl Grey Tart , there is definitely an earl grey tea aftertaste while the peach adds a juicy sweetness. Lastly the Mango Sticky Rice tart, (talking about the full size and is in the flight) has a slight sticky rice flavor and with the mangoes in short is amazing. Not too tart nor overwhelming in rice pudding, it is the really representative of the mango sticky rice. Def will return to get all of the full sized tarts! read more

I came here 5 mins before the bakery opens and there was already a line waiting outside. The staff person was very nice. he came out to greet us and ask us to line up in such a way that would not block the sidewalk. The interior of this bakery is very cute. There are indoor seating for people to enjoy their tarts and beverages. The tarts are all individually boxed for take out. Each customer is limited to 2 tarts (since it is only a soft opening). There were two of us, so we can purchase more than 2 tarts. It was my first time here. I tried three different tarts: (1) Banana miso caramel cream $13 (2) Peach Earl Grey tart $14 (3) Mango sticky rice tart $15 They were all delicious. I loved the banana one the best, then the Earl grey one second. I did not cared too much for the sticky rice one. Although the tarts were delicious, I thought it was very pricey. I'm not sure I like this concept, as the freshness is questionable. However, I gave it a try, as this was their grand opening weekend. The hype is real. This place is sooooo good. The tarts are all highly unique and not overly sweet. Great for the Asian palate. The mango sticky rice tart is highly unique in that they packed the rice and condensed milk cream into the tart, with finely sliced mangos on top. The matcha was great quality with Japan. I had the Matcha Americano, which tasted more like matcha without the coffee, probably because they had a small shot in it. The vibes are super nice from the staff too. Currently soft opening is semi-busy but the wait isn't anything too crazy when we were here the second weekend. Probably about 5 tables give or take, with a few outside, so not much seating. Much easier if you plan to grab and go. Free parking in back shared with the businesses. Highly recommend, check them out! read more

Specializing in tarts, Pine Cone's just added more colors to LA dessert selection. Just like any other recently opened spots, quite a line out the door, but fortunately I got my turn in just few minutes. They did limit each person to get 2 tarts max (except for the flight), so giving a chance for more guests to give it a try. I easily went for the flight just to try all the flavors. My top ones would certainly be the earl grey and banana! They did have decent seats and comfy space for dine in. Certainly a nice dessert spot option when in the area. read more

I got the matcha latte and unfortunately, it didn't taste like matcha at all. It was super bitter, but not the taste of matcha. More like bitter water. I was in the area and saw that a new bakery and coffee shop opened. They are still in their soft opening, but there was a lot of people still. I was lucky enough to get a strawberry matcha tart and I also got a vanilla latte. Both were very good and the staff were very friendly. The bakeshop has a nice modern look to it. They have seating inside and some outside. So it's a nice place to sit and catch up with friends. Definitely want to come back and try some of their other flavors. read more

Pinecone takes tarts and gives them a fresh spin especially with mango sticky rice tart. I was surprised how sweet and soft the mango was. The crust is also crumbly and tastes homemade. Came to try the tarts after seeing it on tiktok and wow, so good!!! Love how they have the option of all 5 flavors as mini tarts, perfect amount to share with my hubby. $16 for all 5. $15 for each normal individual one. A bit pricey, but it looks like a lot of work because even the small ones are beautifully crafted with edible flowers and little pieces of fruit. I thought my favorite would be the mango sticky rice and banana, but I was pleasantly surprised that I actually adored the FIGGY JIN XUAN OOLONG TART and PEACH EARL GREY TART both were i usually dont even like figs but the combo is amazing. Cute decor too! Currently the limit is 2 per guest. I also did order a signature vanilla latte, but it was ok. Light coffee flavor with overpowering milk and not much vanilla. 3/5 for me. Went during the last day of soft opening July 12 around 12:45 and the staff handled the line so efficiently! They only let some customers inside the store at a time, but I waited outside no more than 5 min on a Sunday! The shop felt so homey and it was filled with such colorful tarts. I wasn't sure what to get and it was my first time here so I got the mini tart flight which consisted of 5 mini tarts: banana miso caramel, strawberry matcha, mango sticky rice, peach earl grey, and mixed berry! Everything was so yummy but my top 2 favorites were the banana miso caramel and strawberry matcha. The crust of the tarts were my favorite part of this treat. It had the most perfect crumbly texture and was not messy at all. I can't wait to come back and also try their drinks. We went during soft-opening on a Sunday morning. It was a little hard to find parking with the farmers market going on that time frame, so expect to look around for parking. The store wasn't too hard to find and was visible with appropriate signage. We were greeted by an employee at the front who gave us a menu to view prior to entering. There was a small line in front, maybe 2-3 parties ahead of us. It went through kind of quick. Inside is cute and modern decor, looks clean and nice. I understand it's soft-opening, but they didn't even have a trash can in the store front. The employee said "there's definitely one in the store" but I walked back and forth with nothing, until I asked an employee if they can take my trash. Which they did. Customer service was good, however, I had a difficult time understanding the cashier. Good variety of tarts, and they were actually quite tasty. However, the price for what you get is a little outrageous. I understand that they put a lot of work into the tarts, but it's over-priced and I would not pay this price tag again for it. They were definitely tasty, but over-priced. We ordered 2 tart flights (5 mini tarts of each flavor) and 1 banana tart. Drinks were tasty and fresh, though for $7 and 75% of the cup is ice, it's over-priced. Overall, it was an OK visit, I may or may not come back, but I'd definitely have to be willing to dish out $15 a tart or 5 tiny minis. (They are REALLY small, think a quarter size.) I have been waiting patiently for pinecone to open for literal years, back when they were hangry bakery doing drop offs at Yang's. Let me tell you, the years of waiting were absolutely worth it! The atmosphere of the cafe is incredibly welcoming. They really put thought into the workspace and it shows with the decor. The interior is so cute and all of the workers were super nice and helpful. I ordered two of my favorites, the mixed berry tart (delicious) and the matcha strawberry tart (phenomenal)!!! They source their ingredients locally, which has always been one of my favorite aspects of their business/food. The love that goes into each of their goods is apparent. The crust on every tarts is always crisp, flavorful, and never dry!! I also ordered a matcha cortado and I was pleasantly surprised that the matcha was strong and smooth! I cannot wait to come back and get some more of their tarts, hopefully they bring back my favorite flavor, the orange duet (I've been thinking about it forever! ) when oranges are back in season!! read more

I think I'm in love with this shop. I went on the first soft opening day, 7/3/26, and went back the next day. I'm pretty sure this was the only grand/soft opening line I've ever stood in. I've had many of the tarts before, so I knew it was going to be really good. But I did not know how very very good everything was going to be. Previously I've purchased the tarts from Yang's Kitchen, which coincidentally is right next door. The soft opening tarts menu was many of the greatest hits. They are beautiful, delicious, technically well made, with very nice flavor combinations. The fresh fruit ingredients are top notch. One of the tarts had Baby Crawford peaches, I believe from Regier Family Farm. Baby Crawfords have an ethereal soft perfume, and they are very delicate fruits; you won't find this variety at a market; and they are elusive at farmer's markets. Mangoes from Wong Farms iykyk. I hoard their Valencia Pride mangoes. Strawberries from Harry's Berries, of course. The different pastry cream flavors, the tart shells, perfection. What I totally did not expect was a fantastic beverages program. There's a matcha cortado, a hojicha cortado, coffees of course, and a menu of well crafted flavored drinks. One of those currently was the Fuzzy Fizz, made with Andy's Orchard galaxy peaches and pegasus nectarines, vanilla, sparkling water. Any time you see Andy's Orchard on a menu, you must just get it, it doesn't matter what the fruit is, it'll be some of the best fruit you've ever had. The good chefs all know. The Fuzzy Fizz was so well created, I got a total of three of them. Also got the hojicha cortado, excellent. I hadn't even gotten to the coffees yet. Will likely try everything on that drinks menu, just like I will have had every tart, soon, and any new ones coming up. The space!!! It's so peaceful, warm, inviting, thoughtful, I want to cry lol. The warm woods, which I believe are all or mostly reclaimed wood. Those table tops!! I couldn't stop touching them. Hope no one noticed. I think it's a sign of a really great piece of furniture, especially wood furniture, when you just want to touch it. The eye pleasing shades of green, so very calming. Even the receipt is green. The fabric scrolls hanging above the kitchen window, love that design feature. Really, love all of the design. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I can't wait till cakes start appearing. This is fantastic. The tarts are delicious and I can't get enough of the banana cream pie or the berries. Was very impressed with their coffees. Usually soft openings are chaotic. Not here.
