Bottled water is only $1 and highly recommend you grab one to stay hydrated in the Florida heat while walking around in the garden. I decided on a delicious cappuccino and croissant for my snack. Celia who was working put a lot of time and effort into making my coffee and it was perfection. She is a treasure. My very fresh mini croissants were served warm with an adorable pot of strawberry spread and butter. As you eat and drink the floor to ceiling windows provide a beautiful view of the garden that serves as a lovely backdrop to your meal. They give you one of those plastic squares that vibrate when your food is ready and then pick up your order at the inside window. You can then eat inside or out. It was blazing hot out and the line was long but the staff handled it well and kept the line moving forward. They have a nice variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, drinks, and desserts. Prices are a reasonable $8 to $14 for a sandwich. They even had a board with some specials for museum day. I prefer to eat inside because I love their dining room not to mention the air conditioning. The whole back glass wall of the dining area looks onto the Wings of the Tropics butterfly garden and it's beautiful. While we were eating we got to watch numerous butterflies and we even saw the hummingbird flit around the flowers. The ceiling has a gorgeous Chihuly glass sculpture hanging from it. For lunch we shared the croque-monsieur and the La Basque's club sandwich with grilled chicken and bacon. Both were delicious. For dessert we had one of the large chocolate chip cookies that had three kinds of chocolate in it. All of that plus two sodas came to $28. I waited around for 10-15 minutes, my whole family was pretty much done with their meals. I had to call over our waitress to advise my order was never dropped at the table. After letting her know, my dish was expedited to the table in less than 5 minutes. Could they have been a rush to send out the dish? Possibly. Because that was the worst dish ever and nothing like described. The peppers were not sautéed (or little to nothing) and were just sliced, plated for decor. The tomato/red pepper based sauce seemed like it was just canned tomato sauce, very liquid-y. Simply was not fond of this dish. The plate dropped the first time, she cut right in the middle of it to see the finishing temperature... it was wrong. Sent it right back. The second time it hit the table, the temperature was correct. A bright red center and a seared exterior, just what she was looking for. However, it was so salty, you just could not get past all the salt, nothing to enjoy. Not edible, unless you wanted clogged arteries right then and there! My wife ordered a caprese sandwich. Yes, I also took a bite of that while waiting my for my order(lol). The baguette bread was airy, delicious, and soft. The mozzarella was fresh and the tomatoes were nice and ripe. I also tried their croissants, almond and chocolate croissant, pistachio croissant, and Nutella croissant. They were buttery, flaky, and all the fillings complimented it well. My conclusion to La Boulangerie is you have to be selective about what you order from here. Maybe they had an off day and we were the unlucky ones, but the more complicated meals turned out to taste the worst. However, you can definitely enjoy light bites here... you can't go wrong with a baguette sandwich, coffee, or a pastry. I think baking and light fare is where their true expertise lies.

It honestly felt like it had been grown in someone's backyard garden. I had the tuna salad with seven-minute eggs (amazing), and my son got the breakfast sandwich... which my husband claimed he didn't want until he took one bite and immediately wanted to come back before we flew home. On our second visit, they had sold out of the brioche bun for the sandwich and we were so disappointed but one of the staff members (owner, manager, or actual angel) overheard me talking to my husband and offered to make it on different bread. They went completely above and beyond, and the sandwich was still unbelievable. Amazing food, amazing coffee, and customer service that truly made us feel cared for.
