We were very disappointed with what we already tasted this weekend. The cheese and raisin Babka was so dry and stale that they must have made this a week ago. We were also disappointed with their apple crumb squares, the apples were raw!! I'm nervous about the other items I bought for Easter to bring to a friends home today, . I always order cakes from this bakery. Today on Mother's Day I called to get one white chocolate cake wrap up. It wasn't an special order. Just for me to go and pick it up and the lady over the phone was extremely nasty. Terrible attitude, telling me she wasn't taking orders over the phone, that I have to go and pick one of the ones they have there. I tried to explain myself about the one I wanted which they always have it there ready. She didn't let me finish and just rushed me to hung u. Customer service it is extremely important nowadays specially when I picked this place over other ones with great products and an amazing attitude and customer skills. They have really great stuff here... natas are amazing. My only complaint is that I came here on a Saturday morning and it was packed, customers not all practicing social distancing in the line and on top of me while ordering made me freak out a little in side. Delicious, inexpensive and worth the wait on line. I often arrive at work with a dozen donuts looking like a generous superhero yet I only ever spend about 6 bucks on the whole lot. Can't beat that! Today I walked out with an apple pudding cake ($7.95), 2 cinnamon bread rolls ($3.25 each) and half a pound of rugalach ($4.50). The only thing better than those prices is the taste! Although I've had some of their yummy birthday cakes and desserts (custard cups.... Mmmm) at events that I've attended, today was my first time going to Pinho's Bakery. The first thing that I noticed was how big it was and how many different types of goodies they had to choose from. I went in search of a slice of carrot cake that I was craving. I also picked up a personal bread pudding for Hubby. Fast and friendly service. About 10 people came in after us. We arrived at the perfect time! I indulged the carrot cake when I got home. Wow! I love walking distance from Pinho's. Moving to Roselle from Staten Island was a pretty easy transition; but finding a new set of great local places to eat posed a problem. A very dear friend of mine put me on to this deli/bakery. And I am forever in his debt. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING from Pinho's is delicious and affordable!!! Their deli sandwiches have the perfect meat and cheese ratio. And they use boars head cold cuts, which is a huge selling point for me. Any pastry I've had from here has been amazing. I'm especially fond of the pecan bars, the reeses peanut butter tarts, and the famous custard cups are to die for!!! Like nothing I've ever had. My husband LOVES the black and white cookies. Long story short, I can never visit Pinho's with just one thing. I've gotten a half dozen custard cups, two black and whites, a tart, a loaf of fresh baked Italian bread and some cookies for just under $20. Even their pizza dough is amazing. Affordable and delicious! If you live nearby, this is the place to be. I have never had an issue with pre-orders for birthday cakes, pastries for work events, etc. Everything is always accurate and ready on time for quick pickup. Absolutely delicious! I love the sailboat pastries. There are so many options, that it's easy to get overwhelmed when you walk in. There's a good chance there might be a line (I came with some friends, during a late morning rush), so that gives you a little bit of time to decide. Just a heads up, there is a $10 credit card limit so make sure you have cash if you're not wanting to spend that much. But honestly, the prices are great, the pastries are fresh and it's very easy to spend more than $10. read more

I'm very sad to have to write this .. but my boyfriend surprised me with the most sweetest birthday cake last week , unfortunately we had to make the best out of the situation. The cake was ordered almost a week in advance. My boyfriend and his mom went to pick the cake up and the cake was NOT ready because the young woman who took the order never put the date on it. The women had the audacity to tell them this as well. There was no apology NOTHING! Pinhos hires teens whom most of them are extremely immature they argue in front of customers and just have very poor bedside manners. As mentioned in my previous review this is the only bakery in town so options are very limited. I come here for certain things and that's that. If I had known he was going to go here I would have advised him not to. But anyway they rushed to get the cake done and it showed. The frosting was so messy. No one wanted the cake. If you're familiar with Pinhos you know that when you get a cupcake or cake their frosting is normally completely solid. Like frozen solid and has to be sat out to reach room temp. That's how I know the cake was made while they were standing there. The filling was done so sloppily if was like they threw some strawberries on top the banana pudding and threw frosting on it and called it a cake. In the pictures the cake looks very nice but once we went to cut it everything fell apart. I was embarrassed in front of my friends because we had nothing to replace that cake with, being it was so short notice. I'm really disappointed and would have never expected that the owners would allow for this to happen. But next time we know better we will not use them for any special occasions. read more

Pinhos has always been my family's first pick for bakery goods. We've ordered here for every kind of event; from weddings, birthdays to holidays. They haven't let us down yet. Their cakes are enjoyable to eat and look at. Ordered a cake last week and only gave them "it's for a boy and he likes dinosaurs" as an idea of what I'd like. They really went beyond that. Love at first bite for sure. You have to try the custard cup. It is so flaky and right amount of sweetness coupled with creamy filling. Absolutely amazingggg. I have also tried their red velvet, sprinkled rainbow cookie, tiramisu, coconut bread, sandwiches and coffee roll. They were all very good. The only thing I could complain about it how unclear it is to order at the establishment. I had to ask around and I'm not the most extroverted person. But overall I keep going back. I will NEVER go back to this bakery again. They absolutely ruined my daughters first birthday party. I showed them a picture of the barney cake that I wanted, they informed me they were able to do it and what they gave me was an absolute MONSTROSITY. They left me with two hours to go find a new cake for my daughter on the day of her first birthday party and when I called to tell them about the cake the lady on the phone tells me "well its a hand drawn cake, what do you expect?"
