Not only is Pink Basil super cute but the food is delicious. As someone who is very picky about duck, the spicy garlic duck ramen was excellent. Noodles were a good texture, everything was flavorful and the meat was SUPER juicy. We loved our server Jason. Very funny and down to earth, and we enjoy how he'd check in without being invasive. Great service 10/10. Also if you're looking for something fresh and delicious, without being too heavy or filling the happiness roll was AMAZING. Have been a few times and will return. Food has been VERY good. They seem to struggle with service - seating, getting your food in a timely manner, the server disappearing when you are trying to pay for your meal and depart. Its always been busy and loud when we are there, so maybe they just struggle with the necessary staffing to keep up. Its not horrible, just put your patience on when you go. Food is plenty good enough for us to return and now we know its going to take awhile to be seated, our order taken, food served and check paid. read more

I came here with a friend to meet up for lunch, on a super overcast day in January. We picked this place because we could make a reservation for lunch, which was surprisingly hard to find in the area. Parking was easy and fast, but it was hard for us to find the restaurant. Once inside, it was a curious mix of asian influences. I was surprised to see a full size sushi bar in a Thai restaurant...but we decided to give them a try anyway. The rest of the interior was mediocre but otherwise clean. The menu was very extensive. They had a full menu option for people eating certain diets including keto, which I thought was a nice touch. I decided to order the veggie panaang and brown rice, and my friend ordered the drunken noodles. We also started with the edamame and tea to drink. The edamame was bland and unimpressive as well as slightly overcooked which made them mushy. The curry was ok but nothing impressive, and as it sat, it curdled which was unappealing. The rice was dry and tough, and didn't complement the entree at all. I'm not sure how my friend's noodles were, but she didn't eat much of it. Service was fast but not very friendly, and the acoustics inside made it super loud at times during the peak of lunch. The restroom was also odd but clean, and they make sure you're a customer and not just someone walking in off the park which apparently they have an issue with ongoing. First time eating here after all the times we have been to Mystic Village. We love supporting small businesses. We had a little wait since it was a Saturday evening which didn't bother us. The service and atmosphere are great. They have great choices on the menu. We were a party of 4 and ordered quite a bit of food. We had scallion pancakes, miso soup, pho,Ricky roll and spicy tuna maki. The scallion pancakes are thicker than what I was used to. The miso soup was good but could have been served at a hotter temperature. The pho had great taste but seemed a little greasy and I'm used to it having rice noodles instead of angel hair pasta. We also ordered crab Rangoon filled with goodness and duck rolls. To top it off, a Dogfish beer and gin and tonic. Our server was very friendly and the atmosphere pink flowers. A definite must Asian restaurant close to Mystic Seaport and Mystic Aquarium. Outdoor dining is available but the weather was too cool to enjoy this ambiance. We dined in and got some rolls to go. Everything we tried was great! Pictured are 2 salads, the octopus and pepper seared tuna. We requested some ginger dressing with it because it did need a lil something else but was still fresh and delicious. The homemade dressing is different and not your typical ginger dressing but we really liked it! The curry puffs are the only things not made in house (not pictured) and done by someone locally and she does a great job with them! Pork potstickers were also yummy! We stopped here while shopping before Christmas. We eat exotic food very often so we didn't know if this would hold up to our standards...boy did it. At 7:00 we sent someone in to see how much longer it would be since NO ONE came out to check on us for close to an hour, at 7:10 they brought out half our order and said it would be 15 minutes more for the two pad thais. I get kitchens getting backed up, but it seems pretty clear they just forgot our order- which again, totally fine if you just apologize instead of acting annoyed that we had the audacity to ask about our dinner. I've been going to Pink Basil since 2014, and probably 6 times a year ever since. The food and service has always been amazing, but something recently has changed. The last 3 times we've been in there have either been problems with the food not being good or the service being terrible or non existent. Our last visit, we stood at the front door for about 5 minutes without being acknowledged while no less than 5 employees were around us. I work at a busy restaurant so I understand the servers having other stuff to do and it not being their job, but someone could have at least said "someone will be right with you". It honestly felt like we were inconveniencing them when we finally talked to someone. The waiter finally came over after about 10 minutes and we ordered drinks which took another 10 minutes. The food was fine on this visit, but we have small kids and we asked for a spoon for our kids rice and the server acted surprised and completely forgot and offered us a plastic spoon as we were about to leave. I've never written a review before and I work in a restaurant as a sever so i feel badly doing it but someone needs to realize the service has gone way downhill recently and we will not be returning anytime soon. read more

So I came back home, logged in to see if I missed that the rice was supposed to taste almost like Indian curry; or anything about the taste or flavor but only see specific word "Malaysian famous fried rice". So perhaps this is a known fact that I didn't know. Again it tasted good to me but I can see how many others may not like that. I am more used to Thai fried rice and that is what I thought I was getting. We also order Pink Basil noodles and pad Thai The noodles were a bit undercooked but again everyone agreed the flavors were excellent and I have to add; everything had lots of meat. Service wasn't bad but the waitress came to our table with a credit card machine, and very loudly announced to the entire table the total instead of bringing me a bill to see and pay discreetly. I felt this was very unprofessional and does not allow for the person to at least look at the bill and confirm everything is there. We asked to be moved to a booth table but they said we couldn't even though there were 4 open booths. Great Thai food close to home! Friendly service and wait time appropriate. I have enjoyed the pad Thai and various noodle dishes. You can turn up the heat but beware! You can ask them to put extra spice on the side if you desire. Recently, I have tried the sushi and I was so delighted at how fresh and tasty it was. I'll definitely be back for more. There is outdoor seating which is great as warm weather rolls in. It's a clean restaurant and the bathroom is too! I'm a stickler for clean bathrooms! The food is mediocre. It is your average Thai/sushi restaurant. The server made my brother move a table for her as well as go outside and get his one chair. She then made me take the drinks from the drink tray and hand them out. she would stop and chat with people outside and also on the phone. Items I asked for were never brought to the table. If all this doesn't sound like a great experience it's not the worst part. On a $370 bill for terrible service the server then turns around before counting the money and says I didn't add gratuity to the bill. My father in law says you didn't even count the money. Great food! Great service! Anne was lovely. We were hungry and indecisive and ordered 4 entrees to share. The veggie pho and was packed with great noodles, veggies and a delicious broth. The pad see ew w tofu was good. Huge portions. We also got the pineapple curry and it was great. The chicken was tender and the broth was delicious. The khai soi was a flavor and texture blast. I've been here a couple times and the food is OK. Just OK. Their menu is large and because they serve multiple Asian styles of cuisine, perhaps that's the reason that they don't excel in any one style. They offer Chinese, Thai, Korean, and Japanese sushi dishes. I've ordered a couple of them and like I said they were just OK. The interior is actually quite nice. It's clean, airy, and decorated tastefully. The inside contains tables and a bar and the outside contains a very nice patio. This restaurant is located inside Mystik Village (the one with the outdoor shops). It is positioned next to the parking lot, near the highway, so little walking is required to reach it. read more

I stopped in here for lunch on a Monday afternoon after walking around Mystic for the day. I was excited to see all the different Asian options they had and their large sushi menu. They are doing seating outside and you have to go around to the back to find the outdoor patio, no going through the front entrance. We were seated quickly and our waitress was always checking on us and friendly. We ended up sharing a sushi/sashimi plate as well as a Philadelphia Roll. The food was good and nice and fresh. How I will say that the sushi prices were pretty expensive. The Philadelphia Roll was $7.95 and I can get the same size roll at another place for $4. Additionally they are using all disposable utensils and plates/bowls which I wasn't a fan of. There just seemed to be a large amount of waste and they were using regular glasses for water, so they clearly could do dishes. I wasn't a big fan of all the plastic and paper being thrown away. However the food was good, you just need to accept higher prices and disposable serving wear. read more
