This was the absolute worse hair styling experience. The wedding party was so unhappy with how their hair turned out. The stylist was given pictures of styles and not a single one was even close to being matched. The hair and bobby pins were falling out of the hair instantly. The bride had to have her hair fixed several times within minutes of styling and throughout the event. The stylist worked from 9-3 without a single break. Definitely understaffed. Due to being understaffed some of the wedding party were late to getting pictures. Guests at the wedding even commented on how poor the hair quality looked. I am shocked that this place ever had a positive review. DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE! read more

My mother's face broke out a few days before her first grandchild was to be married. She doesn't wear makeup and was actually thinking about not coming because she was afraid of embarrassing him with the way she looked. Was staying close by during a work trip and my eyebrows were WAY overdue for a waxing. After a bad threading several months back, I had been letting them grow and I was desperate for a shaping. I was able to have an appt with Deb and she was awesome!! She took the time to really look at my brows, how they grow and figure out how to clean them up. They have never been in better shape. I came here as part of a bridal party and they did a superb job with all of our hair and makeup. For my makeup, I gave some direction as to what my preferences were and left the rest in her hands and when I looked at myself in the mirror, i was mind blown. I honestly could barely recognize myself; I couldn't believe I could actually look the way I did. It was a BEAUTIFUL look. I think it was appropriate for the wedding and it came through incredible in photos, which is not always easy. I was impressed and so appreciative! They hairdo was quick and easy curls throughout my hair. They held the ENTIRE night. Also, it didn't frizz, which was unbelievable. I was extremely impressed and satisfied. I was so excited to check out this place after recently moving to the area. Being vegan it is hard to find quality cosmetics and they have many lines that are cruelty free and have vegan products. I specifically came in to find a lipstick queen color that worked for me since I have a terrible time with lip color. The sales person did not interact with me at all other than a hello, and yes or no answers. I was looking at the lipsticks and asked about trying on and he said sure, but no inquiry to helping me, or asking if I had questions. He did not engage me in the 20 mins I was in the store. Hearing them originally on the radio here I thought this would be a place I could get some serious help finding products that would work for me and my life style. This was a huge miss in the customer service area, and unless you know exactly what you need I would not recommend. read more

I landed in Pink Dot with my wife, and figured I'd amuse myself during her shopping by playing with their resident dogs (one who's named Bob Barker). Yet I ended up a delighted customer myself after chatting with the friendly staffers, learning some things about skin care for guys, and taking home a product set for men--that surprisingly I've actually used and noticed a difference. Meanwhile, my lovely wife got a product I don't understand at all, but she says is terrific and she hadn't know about previously. I was planning from San Diego and the process over the phone was very easy and organized. I trusted them based on their professionalism from the beginning. Day of they were friendly and I was thrilled with my makeup and Hair. I especially liked that i was able to pre pay tip and everything so that once I was there in the chair I didnt have to think about anything. Pink Dot is such an adorable place right in downtown. I did my trial about a month before the wedding and it turned out great. The makeup artist, Becca, did an AWESOME job and even made changes on the fly no problem when I asked her to lighten up my eyes a bit. She nailed it and replicated the same look the day of. Heather did my hair and did a fantastic job--she interpreted everything I had described to her --including hiding my ears since I am self-conscious about them --even though I didn't have very fine/thin hair. She was fantastic and did it in a short amount of time. I would recommend these ladies for their expertise. The only complaint I have is regarding the schedule changes that occurred right before my wedding. My hairstylist was to do both of my sister's hair. About 3 days before the wedding, my timeline showed a change in the schedule where the make-up artist would be doing both of their hair AFTER my makeup instead of during. The salon confirmed the last-minute changes but assured it wouldn't take long since it was a "Simple-Do" and shouldn't take long. On the day of, my hair was done in 20 min (awesome) and then makeup took an hour. Although the makeup artist is very gifted in that department, hair was not something she did every day in the salon. We were delayed getting to the venue and were rushed- one sister had hair revamped and the other I had to redo at the venue. I barely had time to eat unpack decorations before my husband arrived and relegated to my suite I feel this is a reflection of the management/ coordination rather than the artists themselves--they did fantastic at what they are at the salon doing day-in and day-out. My constructive criticisms would be to clearly communicate any changes in advance to the bride and be honest about those changes. Though they were accommodating up until the wedding, I cannot help but feel "less-than" on my day because my day, booked well in advanced- was trumped by an on-location wedding. read more

This is one amazing place that I always stop at when I visit Charleston. They have a great selection of lipsticks and other fun beauty products. I was in this past week and was lucky to have Demi help me. Everyone in the store is very helpful and make you feel welcome. Demi is super nice and attentive and picked out make up for me including some powder brow color (just love this instead of pencil!) and Ellis Faas lip glaze L306 which I've been receiving so many compliments on. Thank you Demi!! I do want to caution on the return policy which states all sales are final. I have returned make up at department stores due to defects and once for an allergic reaction. I've never had a problem with any of the wonderful products from Pink Dot but it may help to ask if they would honor returns in case of any defective product. read more

Came here as part of a wedding party for our hair. Only two out of the 8 of us were satisfied with our hair. The hair was sloppy, and not what anyone asked for. The curls were that of an amateur, and the tease job to create volume looked like a disgusting rats nest. It was overpriced,especially since the hair was not quality. Also, the stylist Heather was SUPER unprofessional AMD rude I wouldn't recommended her to anyone. I usually do my own hair for events, I only had it done to save time and stress on myself, looking back I totally wish I had done it myself, it would have been 100 times better, and would have stayed longer. My everyday simple styled hair looks way better than my $80 crack job that I had down there. Gave 2 stars instead of 1 because the place was super cute and the staff and owner working on the first floor were great. I didn't have my makeup done, but looking it other people that were there, they seemed to be MUCH better makeup artists than hair stylists. read more

I am definitely a make-up kind of girl and when I go in to get something they give me great instruction on when products to use and buy and give me great advice. Though I always spend more money than I intend to, I know that I am buying quality products and that they arent just trying to sell me anything that they can. I recommend all of my friends to go there when they need anything because I trust them infinitely with my skincare and beauty products. The staff is incredibly friendly, fun, and educated. You may even dance a little in your seat while getting your make-up done. They make you feel like you belong in the store like a second home and arent just a guest in their world. I have to say, what a let down. I am a local in Charleston and have been wanting to get into this adorable shop for a while. Having my mom in town for a visit seemed like the perfect opportunity. We walked in, and there was one employee and 1 customer trying on lipsticks. The employee did not acknowledge our presence. We walked around several times and I waited for the woman to ask if we needed anything (I was looking for a facial mask) and nothing. My mom walked around one more time and when she crossed in front of the employee the woman actually said "excuse me" and not in a polite fashion. I've been seeing Debbie for many many years (at another spa) and can honestly tell you she is Charleston's eyebrow queen! When I lived elsewhere for several years I actually would grow out my brows before each planned trip back to Charleston just so I could get a nice brow shaping from Debbie. Seriously, she is that good! On another note, this place is super cute and beautifully styled, and I want to come back when I have more time to explore all the fun products on the first floor. They appear to carry a lot of products that are hard to find elsewhere like Sachajuan, one of my favorite hair product lines from Sweden. I definitely will be a regular for my usual brow upkeep. The color is always even and she is so open and easy to convey your preferences to! I am very fair and I always come out looking natural! Came in for wedding makeup on a Saturday! The place is super cute and the ladies are quite friendly. They do try to up-sell you on lipstick/whatever was used on your face. The one specification I gave about my make-up was that I don't normally wear a lot of makeup and would prefer a lighter application. When I looked in the closeup mirror, I was wearing a lot of makeup! DIdn't feel caked-on because I assume they're using quality products. I learned about Pink Dot through a Living Social deal for trial bridal makeup. Since I am not a make-up person, I was really nervous about having it done and thought taking advantage of a discount would be a good way to try it out in time for our engagement photo shoot. I met with Becca who was absolutely wonderful! She was so easy to talk to and I felt really comfortable with everything she did - it was neither too much nor too little. I also love that they use mostly (if not all) organic products. Alex, the bridal coordinator, has been so attentive and responsive as I've been managing my day-of makeup application (I chose traditional with demi lashes and am having them come on-site). In fact, they've been so great that when I found out they added hair styling to their list of services I requested it right away!
