We ordered lumpia with both meats, sautéed veggies, beef brisket, Pancit (rice noodles), and the fried rice. After stuffing ourselves, we kept some Pancit to take home. The servers were the sweetest Filipino aunties, with helpful recommendations, and the kind of service where we never saw our water glasses even close to half empty. My Family wanted Filipino Breakfast and Pink Salt Grill is where we went. Nice and clean restaurant. Our server was polite. Good selection of food on the menu. We liked that there was a Breakfast Menu served Saturday and Sunday 10am-12pm. Breakfast served with Garlic Fried Rice and two eggs any style. We ordered the Longanisa (sweet pork sausage) Breakfast, Jefrox (Dry salted smelt deep fried) Breakfast, Beef Tapa, Breakfast, Eggplant Omelette (Tortang Talong", Chicken Egg Rolls and a side of Longanisa. Took a friend here for her bday and it didn't disappoint. My friend hadn't had Filipino food before so it was a good experience. The restaurant felt homey and it wasn't crowded when we went for a late lunch. The woman who helped us was so friendly and attentive. I ordered pancit bihon and lumpia. Egg Noodles "Pancit Canton": 7/10, egg noodles, chicken, sauteed vegetables (vegetarian option). I appreciate that this location offered a vegetarian option for this dish. I've had more flavorful pancit, this was on the lighter side. This location is approved by my gluten dietary restriction self as there were many yummy options here without having to sacrifice eating some form of gluten. I've been here a few times and I think it's fine for the area. I grew up with Filipino food and also am in the Philippines often. I think the food overall tastes ok but is incredibly heavy with oil and salt (even for Filipino food!) and the portions are so small for what you pay. I remember drinking water the whole night after a meal there. The lumpia is very disappointing and I refuse to order it from here ever again. In my opinion, it tastes closer to an eggroll than normal lumpia. Plus they are also so tiny. I also tried the fried banana dessert and haven't had enough to compare with other places, but it's also just mid. Their drinks are actually ok too but again incredibly pricey. Ofc they have halo-halo. This place is worth a few tries if you are craving Filipino food but that's it. read more

I feel like when it comes to Filipino food, it's very subjective and I have my reasons. Whenever I crave Filipino food, I reminisce on how it tasted when my aunt cooked it, or my Yaya cooked it, or even a neighbor's mom cooked a specific dish. If I try to go to a restaurant with that in mind, most of the time, I end up comparing and left not dissatisfied, but still looking for something more. I find that in Filipino cooking, people don't usually measure their ingredients. They just go by how much they "feel" a specific ingredient should be added. So with that said, there are some inconsistencies with how a specific dish tastes like, depending on who's cooking. Now with this restaurant, I appreciate its existence. There's not a lot of options in Santa Clarita, so if I'm craving Filipino food, it gets the job done. The people are nice, and the place is clean. Did I just go to a Filipino restaurant with the word "grill" in their name and NOT get any off the grill? Yes, I did. I went straight to the dishes that bring me comfort and is lesser known in mainstream. Mung-go is a mung bean stew with crispy pork belly (okay, so I did get something from the grill) and leaves from the bittermelon. Much like lentils with a more heartier, earthy flavor, this dish is served over white jasmine rice. Ampayala centers around the bittermelon with egg and crispy pork. An acquired taste, this is a dish I didn't like as a child buy now I love it. These dishes were done so well and reminds me of my father's cooking that I immediately know that the rest of the menu with more popular dishes are going to be just as good. My family and friends love the crispy pata, lechon and lumpia. I honestly can't wait to try the rest of the menu! (Keep in mind that it is served family style and that combination plates are only served during their brunch service. I ate alone so I ended up spending close to $45 for two entries, a side of rice and a drink but went home with ample food in takeout boxes.) Service was so friendly. I was constantly being checked on and we often talked about Filipino cuisine and how food is a bridge, a connection from our community to others community. Had the pork sinigang. Taste was good, amount and variety of vegetables was good except for eggplant in which I would've preferred be cooked, and only 5 pieces of tender pork ribs. This bowl came out looking like a serving for two but not with the small amount of meat. Started with pork lumpia which was standard half sized that you can buy frozen from the market. Most of this bowl is soup broth. Oh and rice was extra cost. Also had the palabok. Initially it was delicious then got to the end of the bowl and it became more soupy than we're used to. Not my best Filipino food experience, but not bad. Just average...especially for the high cost. Oh and water isn't free as you have to buy a bottle water. Service was good and place was clean. Living in Simi Valley has a caveat - there's no Filipino food place to dine-in or food to take out. Of course, I can make it but when you crave not just one or two dishes, you just need to go and drive. Santa Clarita was the location and SO glad we went to this restaurant. It felt like we went home to the Philippines. Every dish was excellent! Full of nostalgic flavors. The Kare Kare with Oxtail was savory and their shrimp paste (bagoong) was the best we ever had! The combination was heavenly! The grilled pork belly (inihaw) was cooked to perfection. It's juicy and tender. The pork adobo was surprisingly good and aromatic. The milkfish or Daing was wonderfully marinated and cooked to perfection! The highlight - believe it or not was the egg roll (lumpia Shanghai with pork). We could tell it's was homemade. New benchmark again! They offer our favorite dishes and we'll definitely going back! Maybe our new favorite Filipino restaurant. We like Filipino food but don't have it enough. So when this popped up on my Yelp, my husband said let's check it out. The restaurant is small and intimate with maybe 10 or so tables. We are immediately seated at lunch time and given a regular and lunch menu. We chose to get a couple things to split between each other. I got the fried chicken dinner with mini lumpia and a garlic rice upgrade. It was a decent amount of food for the price. The chicken was TINY which made me feel good because hopefully that means it's not filled with hormones. The chicken could've used a little more seasoning and was a little on the dry side. But it was still enjoyable. The rice is plain white rice with a little garlic flavoring. It tasted fresh, and was perfectly made. The lumpia was nice and crispy and filled with chicken. I didn't see any carrots or cabbage in it. So it didn't have the lumpia flavors that I'm used to. But it was a nice egg roll. My husband got the bok choy which had crispy chunks of tofu in it. It was well seasoned and tender but not mushy. My husband really enjoyed it and I thought it tasted good as well. The only issue was the texture of the sauce for me. (It's not then, it's me as a texture averse person with certain foods.) The texture of the sauce didn't bother my husband at all. When I talked to him after lunch, we both agreed that the food was good, hot, and made fresh. We liked it, but didn't LOVE it if that makes sense. We came here with my future in-laws and my mom after we had done some wedding dress shopping. The staff were so warm from the minute we walked in the restaurant. We had a reservation due to the size of our party, but I don't think they do reservations for smaller groups. We ordered lots of dishes to share. The staff walked us through the menu and gave us some really solid recommendations. If I could only give one recommendation from the menu, you should absolutely order the pancit malabon. I still think about how much I loved that dish, it was eggy and citrusy and so savory in a unique way. The flavor was like nothing I've had before. Most everything we ate was fantastic and everything was freshly made. The only dish I didn't like was the milkfish, but that was my own personal preference and I wouldn't have chosen to order that on my own. Put this in the "how did I not know about this place" category: We went to Pink Salt Grill for dinner with our dear friend Rayshun Parkman to celebrate the forthcoming opening of his new restaurant in March and it was amazing. We've never tried Filipino food - aside from a few dishes made for us by a Filipino friend - and we were really looking forward to the experience. And it did not disappoint! We started with an order each of chicken and pork lumpia. They were perfectly crispy and stuffed with hot, savory meat. The sweet, sour spicy dipping sauce was an epic complement to the rolls. So good! We also had the bbq pork skewers. My goodness the sauce was smoky, sweet and savory, the perfect pairing with the pork. Chewy and sweet is a great combination. After that, the three of us went in completely differedifferent directions. LeeAnn had the chicken pancit with rice noodles. And she ate every single bite. Not a morsel to take home. I had the shrimp palabok and OHMYGOD!! it was so good. An amazing combo of rice noodles (that were so thin, they felt like glass noodles), shrimp, ground beef, chicharron, fried garlic, spring onions and hard boiled egg. The sauce was a rich pork and shrimp sauce. I wish I could describe how this tasted beyond savory and meaty. Suffice to say, it was an eating experience. Ray, who'd been here before, tried something new...the sweet spaghetti and fried chicken combination. Let's just say he wasn't letting me anywhere near it to try. It's definitely not like anything I've had before...sweet sauce, sliced hot dogs...Ray crushed it. And the chicken, with their signature banana ketchup, was nibbled down to the bone. Best part of this meal? The turon...unbelievably good banana egg rolls, drizzled with honey. I couldn't stop. And the ube ice cream on the side was the perfect cap. We also grabbed up some delicious desserts from Blossoms Sweet Kitchen (owned by the daughter of the owner, Marina). On our plate was matcha brownie and a salted chocolate chip cookie...can't wait to go back for more. Oh boy the food was good, we only ordered three dishes for four people but it was enough food since we had breakfast already. The fried tofu was nice and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bagoong fried rice was mm good, loved the mango paired tomato based fried rice. And that fatty flavor bursting pork adobo with hard boiled eggs. This also paired well with the acidic fried rice since the fattiness balances it out well! After reading so many good things on Yelp about this restaurant over the years. One dear Yelp friend even regularly driving for miles to get here, causing my saliva glands to drooling reading her reviews. Plans to visit soon were now on my priority list. Apparently, all my discussions relating to her about wanting to try Pink Salt Grill, had my wife salivating too. Because while out running errands today she phoned me from the restaurant taking my request for takeout! My choice was the Fried Chicken Combo, with a side of egg rolls and the steamed rice which is included. $15.00 She ordered the Beef Brisket Combo, with a side of veggies as well as the rice. $17.00 2 Thai iced teas added another $10.00, for a total of $42.00. Kind of steep. My fried chicken was flavorful, though the pieces were a mix of savory and dry. The chicken egg rolls were just right with the dipping sauce, and the rice was perfectly prepared. But on sampling a bit of my wife's brisket; tender and succulent! The real taste test winner. We weren't sure of the sauce covering it but nothing that distracted from its protein succulence. She seemed satisfied with her veggies as well. And our Thai teas were a great balance of not too sweet or bitter. I totally forgot to sample my meal with the requested banana ketchup, I had made a point to have included with my meal. But I finally put it to good use later while eating some of wifey's rice and beans. Adding a unique and flavorful taste. Our only real complaint with this Filipino eatery, is not having the option of choosing pancit with their combo orders. An order of Pancit alone would have cost another $15.00. The steam rice was also excellent and nothing tasted bad, it was not only very tasteful but the flavoring and texture of the meals was better then most places I've been too.
