Today's a nice day to come to the wharf - sunny with temps close to 70 in mid March. Haven't been here for a while and there are many places with great outdoor seating which is thing to do on a day like this. We walked the length of the restaurant row and turned around a and settled on Pink Tiger which seems to have one of the largest patios in front with well spaced 4-top tables as well as a long counter facing the water, best for people watching. There is a large well decorated indoor dining room as well with a variety of comfortable seating but on a day like this the patio wins. We had the burger, dumplings, fried shrimp - the latter two are apps that seem to be the most popular, two other tables next to us ordered the same thing. The dumplings are a bit bland although there is a sweetish sauce which added a bit of flavor. The shrimps - there are about a dozen popcorn shrimp sized ones have a very tasty batter and is more flavorful. Overall a very pleasant experience with the dining environment being excellent. A bit on the pricy side at about $85 for two before tip. Service can be a bit slow so it helps if you are not in a hurry and just want to hang out and soak in the atmosphere. read more

At first glance, this restaurant looks nice and stylish, but once you sit down, you start noticing how dirty and poorly managed it is. The lemons they use for drinks were sitting in a high-traffic corner, and the server grabbed one with the same hands they had been touching everything with and dropped it directly into the drink. Absolutely disgusting. The restrooms were also filthy, bad enough to make you lose your appetite. One of the servers, who wasn't even assigned to our table, stood next to us and the body odor was so strong it made us uncomfortable. Pink Tiger is a fun, stylish addition to The Wharf DC and very conveniently located within walking distance of nearby hotels and shopping. The restaurant overlooks the water, and if the weather cooperates, the outdoor seating offers great views of The Wharf. Inside, the glowing pink bar is a standout. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the atmosphere. The bartender was genuinely a pleasure as he made drinks and was attentive to all the patrons he was serving. For me, the Pink Tiger is 70% vibes and style and 30% good food. The appetizers were fine, but pedestrian (nachos and dumplings). The salmon is not good (avoid) it's light but has little flavor (it was giving lean cuisine). The cheesecake said it had calamansi (a citrus fruit), but you could not taste the calamansi at all, though the cheesecake was baked well and creamy. We started with the ahi tuna nachos - the toppings and sauce were super fresh and tasty. The wontons were so stale. They brought some "fresh ones" which were better but not great. Not sure if they were overcooked or stale before they went in the fryer. We shared the wagyu beef and broccoli. The beef had a wierd texture or light coating, although the sauce was good. There was only a few pieces of broccoli considering it was beef and broccoli. Chicken won tons were ok - same issue with the consistency of the wrapper and the fryer. This was a surprise birthday location and although I had strong negative feelings about Kaliwa, I was told Pink Tiger was a rebrand and that the food was upgraded. Sadly, it felt like the same but with a new name. The location is stunning and right on the wharf. The aesthetic inside is absolutely gorgeous and a great use of design space. Our waiter was very kind and if he didn't know something, he would ask the appropriate people. Now, the food. It honestly is not worth it to me. I've previously dined at Kaliwa and had the same sentiments and was really holding out hope for Pink Tiger. We got the skewers which is very expensive and honestly not worth it. I also got the basil fried rice and it lacked seasoning. I've had better fried rice from local Thai restaurants that were way better. Overall, the rebrand wasn't worth it. I ate here before attending a show at the Arena Stage and sat at the bar. I ordered the garlic noodles ($24) and added the waygu steak ($12). The noodles were very tasty, although there were perhaps too many onions, and the steak was tender and flavorful with a fair to generous portion for the upcharge. The noodles themselves were likely not worth $24 though, for essentially some noodles, onions, and garlic sauce. Without the steak (which was amazing), it likely would have been a disappointing dish. My coconut margarita was also quite good. A bit expensive but in line with other drink prices along the Wharf, so hard to complain. I really liked the toasted coconut rum and the coconut and jalepeno balanced nicely. In terms of downsides, I would say the bread pudding dessert was very small for its $10 price point and nothing special. I was expecting more of an Asian fusion twist or a bigger portion and got neither. The bartender was nice enough, though it was a struggle to get water (both when I sat down and a refill). I also think it's a bit dishonest to have the recommended tip amounts be on the post-tax total (which is obviously not the server's fault, but a restaurant practice with which I disagree). The vibes are good, especially on a nice day when the windows are open, and I really enjoyed the piano player they had. Made for a nicer solo dining experience. Overall, I think I would come here again, but perhaps with a group where I could try more things or appetizers, like the skewers and dumplings. read more

We ordered the tofu and chicken skewers, garlic noodles with tofu and green curry with tofu. Our reservation was at 6 PM and they were out of a few cocktails we wanted to try. We ordered the Korean Chicken Wings, Ahi Nachos, and Chicken Garlic Noodles, Salmon, and Pad Thai. Everything was good but again, overpriced. It was all very basic. My chicken garlic noodles were $30. Should be no more than 22. My friend did not like the Pad Thai-- it was too sweet with too many chopped peanuts. The portions are good. We ordered a skillet cookie with ice cream for dessert. Small scoop of ice cream and the cookie sucked. It tasted like tollhouse and it was overcooked. They gave us free champagne for my birthday with lighted ice cubes. I thought that was awesome. The appetizers are similar to what you may see at like a sports bar or something. It wasn't really anything wow. I would compare the menu to like Proper 21 in DC. I might come here again for drinks and the piano. A lot of people were ordering the kabobs, steaks and bigger dishes. Went here early afternoon for a late lunch / early dinner. There was two other parties already seated. It's in a great spot on the Wharf, right on the strip with everything else. It's asian fusion, with some specific Filipino items which drew me to picking it. I got an old fashioned, korean fried chicken wings, one chicken skewer, one steak skewer, lumpia, and garlic noodles with steak. My favorite was the garlic noodles, I could eat those all day. Met up with some friends after an event in the Wharf and decided to check out Pink Tiger and I'm so glad we did! We had a wonderful time. The food and drinks were great and the ambiance was amazing. Here are some of my takeaways: Environment The space is perfect for hanging out and catching up with friends or a dinner date. The vibe is chill, laid back yet lively with dim lighting that sets the mood whether for happy hour or fun night out. There is plenty of seating at the bar (with some cool pink lights) and in the dining area so you have mutiple options and space. Service The service was good! Our server was nice and made sure we had what we needed. and was very warm and welcoming. We also had an opportunity to meet the new owner who was very friendly, warm and welcoming which was a great personal tough to our overall experience. Food The food was really delicious and did not disappoint. We started off with the lumpia and the dumplings which were both tasty and filling. I'd definitely order them again. Such a great concept, I wanted to give 5 stars, sadly I can't as I was a little disappointed in the food and service. I loved the vibe of the site with the pink umbrella-strewn patio and location on the bustling wharf. A friend and I stopped in last night after a walk exploring the area. Our table did not have an umbrella and appeared dirty (but maybe it was just stained from the outside conditions). Our service was mediocre. Brenda was very pleasant but didn't bring tap water after mentioning she would several times, until I expressed a second request after about 30 minutes or more. We also asked for separate checks and had to send the check back to be separated. The martini was decent, not exactly what I was expecting as the menu mentioned olives and brine. The cup of crab curry bisque was very good with a little spicy kick- I would definitely recommend trying this! The chicken satay was decent, I had some tough, chewy segments from the chicken thighs and could have used a little more peanut sauce. The cucumber salad was cooling but very salty, maybe too heavy on the fish sauce for me. My friend had the hibiscus tea, which she said was wonderful and the garlic noodles with shrimp which she said was good. My wife and I celebrated an early Valentine's day there. We had Maya as our server and she amazed us with her customer care. The food was great with the exception of the mango and avocado salad ( very small and almost no avocado). But the entrees of crispy red snapper and the pad thai with shrimp were delicious. Long story short, horrible service they do not care about the customers experience. I have never ordered a padthai this expensive (24+9 for shrimp). The noodles came out dry and gunky to begin with, so when you stick your chopsticks in its all stuck together, and the shrimp was a bit raw. That would have been fine, mistakes happen. When I told them, they simply just threw it back in the pan, resulting in super smokey and burnt noodles. Tasted nothing like pad thai and texture was ruined. My concern: The restaurants talks about fusion and being unique to stand out but it doesn't seem to have many of its own unique twist as many of the items seem to be trends and can be found at other restaurants. I can't give a half star due to yelp ranking system. Its 3.5 to me but I set it at 4 because I lean towards its instead of 3. We hosted a private event at Pink Tiger for about 30 people. While the space itself is beautifully designed the experience left a lot to be desired, especially at the start. Service & Organization: We had booked the event a couple of weeks in advance, but when we arrived, it didn't seem like they were prepared for us. There was only one server initially handling drink orders for the entire group, and the drinks took a long time to arrive. Some never came at all. We also weren't given any direction on where or when to sit - it was very unorganized. I ended up having to approach the server myself to ask when we'd be seated and when food would be coming out. The event started at 5:30, and although dinner was supposed to be served around 6:00, food didn't arrive until closer to 6:30 or 6:45. The service did gradually improve as the evening went on, but there were still frequent delays and we often had to follow up multiple times to place or re-confirm orders. Many of the drinks we did receive were overly sweet, which made it hard to enjoy them fully. Food: Potstickers: These had good flavor, but the texture was off, they came out pretty hard. I wouldn't recommend them. Shrimp Tempura: This was probably the highlight of the meal. Nicely crispy and well-cooked Chips and Hummus: Very basic. Nothing bad about them, but also nothing memorable. You can skip these. Lumpia: This was pretty good as well - enjoyed the sauce it came with Salmon (Main Dish): I ordered mine medium, and while it didn't come out quite as requested, it wasn't overdone. The flavor was solid, and overall it was a decent dish. Atmosphere: The decor inside is trendy and fun - lots of personality in the space. We were on the second level, which looked nice but was oddly warm for some reason. It wasn't a terrible experience, but it wasn't great either. The food had a few good moments, but the disorganized service and overly sweet drinks really brought the night down. They had staff outside luring customers with free drink tickets...which should've been my sign to leave. For our main, the Pad Thai was a letdown: small, pricey, and utterly unimpressive, but I think you pay a little extra for the views of the water and the pricey real estate nearby. Overall, slow service and just okay food. There are better options nearby. Also, be sure to review your bill! They automatically add a 20% gratuity after certain hours, so you could easily double-tip. I had a fun time here. Beautiful decor all around. A nice and sexy environment, perfect for date nights. The service was good as well and not one single bad moment. I didn't particularly enjoy my Pad Thai, I'm a bit of a Pad Thai snob though. I did however enjoy my drinks, yum! read more
