My first experience with Pinkie Nails and Spa was when I was in a fast and furious frenzy - day of hosting a party and needed a polish change, in of course, a time crunch! The staff was so helpful and accommodating to my need and provided a great French manicure. I made a second visit two weeks later for a full gel manicure and spa pedicure. What treatment! The environment was welcoming, clean, and peaceful. The pedicure was beyond perfect and my gel manicure exceeded my expectations as I was removing my hard - gel -extensions for the first time in years! For one getting waxed she got too close to my eyes and my face burns there are burns near my eyes, which doesn't happen with my usual lady. The one time I go someplace convenient. OH and she took a chunk of hair off my scalp it hurt like a mother and she was laughing I said it's not funny. when she was supposed to be touching up my face for my dads fu real tomorrow. Anita is amazing and always does an amazing job with my gel manicures. She takes her time with the clean up and actually cleans the cuticles unlike most places. I have been here a few times, once to get a pedicure which was great, and twice to get gel manicure which lasted two weeks like it is supposed to. Two days ago, I went there to have the gel manicure removed and get a regular manicure. When asked why I wasn't getting gel, I told the woman who was doing my nails i wanted to give my nails a break from gel. She tried to still convince me to get gel which was kind of annoying because I already made my mind up. The regular manicure that I did receive started to peel the next day and today it's even worse. If I did my nails myself it would last longer. So I would suggest to not go here to get a regular manicure because it will not last longer than a day. read more

In the middle of downtown Newington, with the friendly staff, and friendly easy customers, it has the Steel Magnolias vibe that every girl dreams of. $30 pedicures are very thorough with good rubbins. Basic manicure is $12, also good, but mine was bit rough, a little bleeding, a sore thumb cuticle for a day after. And you get the shoulder rub down while your nails dry. If you pay cash, you aren't charged tax. And they have an ATM with a $0.25 fee....so basically free. read more

I have lived in cities all over the US and have great and horrible experience. I have tried 13 different nail salons around the Hartford area and this one takes the cake! They are professional (will stop whatever they're doing to greet you and make you feel welcome right away), kind, want to know you, and most importantly... they listen to what you want! I have had gel manicures and pedicures from 4 different people and each is fantastic. They are consistent with the level of service they provide, and they don't rush. They also don't take forever which is great when I come after work and want to get home, or on my day off. They give you a massage while your drying... and the massages are WONDERFUL! They have great colors, multiple gel brands to choose from, and have matching gel and regular nail polish. GREAT for events! read more

I didn't really like hair process for gel polish on toes, they didn't really clean and cater to my feet the way I would've hoped. They justified this by saying the polish stays on better if you wash after.... but I've never had that before and honestly they felt a little dirty. Pinkie Nails and Spa is a fabulous nail salon. I go regularly for gel manicures and once warm weather comes (and sometimes in the winter before vacations), for pedicures also. The gals are wonderfully friendly, customer service is excellent, cost is fair, and it is a comfortable environment. Most of all, however, is Kevin who does my gel nails. I have been to many a nail salon in the past. Kevin is by far the best master of his trade. I have been with Kevin for more than 3 years and will never change. I am so rough on my nails but very rarely do I have nail problem, and, if so, it is my own fault. Kevin is a perfectionist. I love watching him work and make my nails look perfect. I stopped in here for a basic manicure. My nails dried incredibly fast and I think I now know why. Less than 24 hrs, haven't even showered yet and the color is peeling off in sheets. Boo! I don't know where to start with this place. First, they ignore new customers. Second, my nails couldn't last 2 weeks. First two broke had them redone and the next day 3 nails broke. When I went to get my nails fixed i asked them to shorten them and they stared at eachother and spoke in their language and I can tell they were complaining that I even asked. I had to tell them ok it's fine no need to cut in order for them to stop screaming. And I am not exaggerating, they were screaming/yelling while I was waiting right in front them. I had to go to a different salon to redo my nails because I would not step into this place even if they offered me free service. They are horrible at their job and rude as well. I recommend to go somewhere else, you will spend your money for something good believe me. read more

This salon is the best! I had been going to Kevin at Silk Nails in West Hartford since 2012 and he moved to Venus Nails in 2013 when I started going there. I will only go to Kevin. He is the best, takes his time, and shapes my nails just the way I want them. I have gotten to know the owner and the people who work there and they are all very friendly and accommodating. The massages, the paraffin wax on your hands, and the neck warmer they use are all great added touches. Great all around! read more

If I could I'd give ZERO stars! I would never step foot anywhere near this area again. I took my mother so she could get a polish change, she had just been there on Wednesday or Thursday for a manicure and here we are 3 days later and her nails were all chipped. We explained it to them and after THEY suggested THREE TIMES my mom do a gel polish she caved and chose one. So I caved also and decided to get a gel manicure. We sat next to each other and the guy started on my moms nails and the girl in front of me just sat there. I asked her if she was going to do my nails she said she didn't know and then decided to ask the owner. They moved me 2 chairs over and someone else did my nails. My mom got a shoulder massage and the girl next to me got 2. I got none. She quickly trimmed my cuticles, pushed them down, painted my nails and put lotions on my hands, bam, done! After putting oil on my cuticles she didn't have me wash my hands, no hand massage no massage like anyone else, NOTHING! She just quickly gave me a crappy manicure and moved on to the next girl who was sitting there with the foil on her finger tips. I counted 7 employees there at the time and you mean to tell me I couldn't get proper service because she was the only one capable of finishing the other girls nails or doing mine for that matter? More appalling was that we were in there for 20 minutes and I was charged $60. When I questioned the price she said gel was $30 anyway, with or without a manicure which is what I allegedly got. THEY suggested gel for my mom, they could have at least charged her half the price considering they did such a shitty job on her nails 3 days prior. Not to mention, my nails have bubbles in them which is one of my biggest pet peeves. I typically go to a nice salon in Avon but chose this for convenience. NEVER AGAIN!!! I was very unimpressed with this salon. I had the shellac manicure--to start, she did not soak my cuticles. Any time in the past in multiple different salons, I have always had my cuticles soaked to soften first. When asking about this I was told studies show it is worse to soak first and actually more damaging to cuticles and that I could look it up if I want. I told her I believe her, but I was just curious. Two days later, the shellac on two nails completely peeled off. Now, my cuticles are slowing fraying and peeling back which is not only ugly, but painful too. I have to believe this is due to not soaking before cutting away, as this has NEVER happened before to me. I was happy when I returned to have the two nails fixed--the person that helped me put a fresh coat over all my nails, was kind, and also apologetic. I would give this place a second chance and see if it changes my opinion read more

This is my first time at this nail salon. I love a salon in Wethersfield but wanted to try one much closer to home. This salon is right in the center of Newington and appears to be very clean. I only asked for a basic pedicure and was happy that I didn't feel forced to get another treatment as well (which I get at many other salons). I found the basic pedicure to be a moderate price but the other more extensive pedicures to be quite high. I enjoyed the vibe of place and will come back again to see how the manicures hold up.
