It pains me to write this review of a place that I once held as my favorite pizza in the city. I hadn't ordered in awhile because of some issues a couple of years ago with delivery times, etc. i figured I'd give them another chance. I went to their website (the website they tell you to order from when you call in) because I'm trying to order directly from restaurants to support them. I submitted the order -- quite pricey at that -- and got an estimated delivery time of an hour. After almost ninety minutes I called to see what the delay was. They said it was just coming out of the oven. Fine, I'll wait. After two hours the food finally arrived. To add insult to injury, the pizza was BAD. The crust was soggy, the sauce cloyingly sweet. The breadsticks were burned and there was barely a hint of the bacon or cheese. The salad was soggy and pathetic. For $40 for a small pizza, small salad and some breadsticks, the least they could do was make the food edible. Instead, it went straight to the garbage. Two hours and I was still hungry. read more

The pizza is super amazing. It's some of the best I've had. The only downside to the food is they cut the pieces huge - like twice as big as they should be. Oh, and it's a little pricey, but I think it's still fair for how good it is. Ordering online didn't work for me because fresh mozzerella was definitely not listed in the checkboxes, even though it's on the menu. Also, they use a stupid address verification system that doesn't recognize my address because my house is less than a year old. So I called to order on the phone. But apparently the manager didn't realize he didn't write down our unit number -- or maybe the address verification system screwed it up on his end too -- so the driver was a bit lost. read more

I took a chance on the recommendation of a friend, despite the negative reviews (which in all fairness seem to have the same complaint as mine, which is the service side and not the food). The pizza was pretty good, certainly better than a Pizza Hut or Dominos, but it took an hour and 45 minutes to get here - - despite being promised a one hour delivery - - and the pizza was pretty cold by then. Maybe it's better when it's hot, but based on my experience and the other reviews, they seem to have some issues with delivery (and pickup), and I probably won't bother trying them again. read more

One word: amazing! If you like fancy pizza with unique toppings, stop everything and go get a Santa Monica pizza from Pinks! The cranberry and gorgonzola are the perfect compliment to each other...not to mention artichoke, eggplant, prociutto, and sundried tomatoes. Yum! Update: Pink's reached out to me and offered me a gift certificate for a free pizza (pick up only). I thought this was very nice. My pizza was good and since I appreciated the gesture I changed my review from 2 stars to 4. I still wouldn't recommend delivery since it takes so long but if you pick up, the pizza is good. I used to like Pink's but the service has been terrible lately. The last time I ordered it took a really long time to get my pizza and they charged me twice for it. It also took about 5 phone calls over the course of 2 days to resolve the issue. The pizza was super greasy and soggy on top of everything. I tried the other location a couple weeks ago and had a whole other set of issues. I'll have to find a new pizza place. read more

Previously have had positive experiences with Pink's. I liked the flavor combinations, the crust is good, and prices on par with other "specialty" pizza places in town. This prior experience is the only reason I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. This past Friday at 7pm I ordered a pizza via the phone because the online system was not processing orders and payment. After holding for 15 minutes someone finally answered. I confirmed with the gentleman taking the order that my online order did not process, proceeded to order my pizza, and was promised a 45 minute to 1 hour wait delivery time. Two hours later at 9pm, still lacking pizza, I called to check on the status of my order. After an additional 15 minutes on hold (I have screen shots of my phone call log to prove this btw, not just some hunger-induced exaggeration), I finally was able to reach someone. The gentleman was very nice and sounded obviously stressed. He offered to re-make the pizza as he couldn't tell if the original order had even been made (?!) and send it out with the first driver available with no charge to make up for the mistake. My pizza arrived shortly after 10 pm (THREE HOURS after I ordered) and was wrong and luke warm (one of the toppings missing). I live about 1 mile from the Heights location, the 1 hour pizza delivery time alone is sad, let a lone the multiple delays due to what clearly was a very bad night for Pinks. Today I check my bank statement, well it seems like not only was I actually still charged for the pizza but I was charged TWICE! Needless to say, I will not be ordering from Pink's again and they will be receiving a visit from me regarding an immediate refund. read more

We ordered the "this guy" and it was loaded with toppings. You can really taste the difference in the quality of ingredients they use. Not greasy and good chewy crust. So glad they deliver to my neck of the Heights! I really wanted to like this place. However, after walking in I noticed the Domino's-style conveyor belts and no pizza ovens. The pizza tasted like Domino's as well albeit with a few interesting toppings thrown in/on. The sauce is Ragu with a few extra spoonfuls of sugar. Houston was once a pizza wasteland. Back in the early 90's we used to go to Birraporetti's to get the only real pizza in town. Now we are reasonably flush with choices and there are many better, in most areas of town, than this place. How Pink's is surviving is a mystery. read more

Ordered a 16" Supreme Pizza with a Caesar salad online. Get to the Heights location and for two minutes had the person tell me are you sure your at the right location. Only after showing he my confirmation did she acknowledge that I was at the right location. She proceeded to let me know that "the system" did not get my order out but she could see it. Her solutions were for me to cancel my order or wait, hmmmmmm....a blinding glimpse of the obvious. They made my pizza but to speed it up they made the crust as thin as paper barely put any cheese on top so it was all sauce. I forgot why I had not gone back to Pink's in a long time but just got served a cold reminder. If you want bad service with an attitude to match please come to this location otherwise avoid it like the plague because they don't care because there are more people in the Heights. read more

This is the first yelp review I have ever written and unfortunately it has to be a negative one. I would have loved nothing more than to enjoy my pizza and experience at Pinks, but this was not the case. I can understand that restaurants often have 'off nights' but the service, product and price did not even deserve one star. The person taking my order seemed disinterested and genuinely frustrated that I took more than 30 seconds to pick what I wanted to order. When the pizza finally came out, it was undercooked and soggy. You are better off with frozen pizza from HEB or even dominos. Houston has so much to offer, do not waste your hard earned money on Pink's. read more

The pizza is pretty good so I would go here again and again but when you compare it to other places inside the loop then you might be disappointed. I specifically remember going here with a great friend and had a good time but I can't recall the pizza I got while I was here. This is the best pizza place in Houston, in my humble opinion. The flavors are big and bold, and the folks who run Pink's know how to combine those flavors in an assortment of intriguing arrangements. My favorite pizzas are the Big Sleep, Southwestern, and Freschetta. Sure, the prices are higher compared to other places, but I don't mind paying good money for good food. Furthermore, I find it silly to complain about delivery issues - if you order at peak times, you should be prepared for your food to not taste as if it rolled right out of the oven and into your home. Simply put, I like this place a great deal, and it certainly trumps the West Gray location. read more

Shortly after I wrote the scathing review below, I received a message from the manager of Pink's offering to give me a free pizza. I, never one to shy away from pizza, took him up on his offer the very next weekend. I ordered the Big Boss. Now THAT was the pizza my friends were ranting and raving about! I've been known to travel for pizza. Most recently to NYC in the direction of historically significant pizza via the infamous Grimaldi's in Brooklyn (legendary and highly rated) and Little Italy's Lombardi's (where the first pizza in America is said to have been served). I was rewarded for my efforts and sat in sublime, albeit glutinous fulfillment after devouring more than my share from each, as neither offered slices, only whole pies (but of course!). I truly crave the bonafide goodness of really great pizza. I must admit, my cravings are typically not satisfied in Houston. I've tried many pizzas in and around Houston and some aren't all that bad (though I don't care for Star Pizza at all). I rather enjoyed the original Candelari's on Bissonnet but have found the Washington location lacking in both consistency and quality. I've also been under-whelmed by the service. The last time I ordered for delivery, my pizza arrived completely black on the bottom and thus inedible. I emailed via their website to let them know and never heard a word from them and thus, I decided not to give them any more of my money. It felt like a break-up. I had been so happy about their Washington location when it first came into existence. I do love the authentic-NY slices from Homeslice Pizza in Austin. Love it so much I've come very close to just driving there on a given night when the longing is especially strong. These beautiful hand-tossed pies are perfection in the execution of crust as well as toppings (especially the cheese, which is a fine mix of cheese, of a lovely quality and the perfect amount). Scrumptious. Also, Homeslice is just a groovy place all-around by means of a great vibe and great service. I've remained hopeful for good pizza in Houston. I was intrigued (but suspicious) by the "Pink's Pizza" sign I noticed atop their space in a small strip center at Heights Blvd. and 14th Street last Summer. I shared my discovery with my boyfriend (also a great lover of good pizza) and he wasn't sold. "How could that place by any good?" he asked dismissively. A few days later, a friend asked if we'd tried Pink's Pizza and the boyfriend thought I set it up as a joke. Our pal went on and on about their fresh ingredients and how good it was. I knew I had a good vibe on the place - couldn't wait to try it and we did, the very next day. Pink's is definitely nothing fancy on the inside but I kind of like that. It is urban and minimalist in feel, with only a couple of tables and a bar where you can sit and eat and/or watch them make the delectable pies and other specialties. There is a flat-screen TV in the corner and you can definitely "eat-in" but it's not a table-service kind of place. Fine by me since I'd rather take it home anyway. They deliver but I usually want it quickly once I decide to indulge and so we have achieved "frequent flyer" status at Pink's, currently trying to eat there about once a week. Ken, (the owner) named the joint after his grandfather (nicknamed "Pink"). Ken worked for the grandfather in his restaurant as a child up in the northeast. Ken has a total clue about what makes for quality food and service and he now knows us by name. He has even named our pizza - "Mike's Pizza" - made with sausage, pepperoni and fresh basil. The tomato sauce is made fresh - and it tastes fresh - quite yummy. Not too sweet or thick; the perfect light texture along with their splendid crust. You can bend it and eat it like a New-Yorker if you want but it still has bit of crunch and the right chew. The sausage, sprinkled generously on the pie is "crumbled/chunky style" which I prefer to the sausage sliced like pepperoni. It is lean and full of fennel seed - really nice flavor. You can build your own pie or try their many specialty combinations. I've been known to get the "Classic" if I'm dining sans boyfriend (the boyfriend needs meat). The Classic includes feta, pecorino Romano, fresh mozzarella, roma tomatoes, garlic, sundried tomato and fresh basil. It is simply divine. They also have a number of great "Specialty Sandwiches" that come on a fabulous fresh hoagie roll, including Meatball, Sausage & Peppers and the Grinder - made Jersey-style with salami, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomatoes and a nice oil and vinegar dressing. Hey - every now and then we have to order something besides pizza and we're always plenty happy with these. I'm so happy I don't have to drive to Austin tonight for great pizza now that we have it just a few blocks away from my home. Who cares if I have to hit the gym twice as often these days ... Pizza at Pink's is great, but this store has major issues. My wife stopped in recently on the way home to order a pizza for delivery. She paid for the pizza with a credit card, but didn't put a tip on the card because we always tip at the door and with cash. Pizza took over an hour (we live exactly one block from the store) and was cold when it arrived. Delivery guy was tipped around 20% in cash at the door. Called Pink's to complain and after haggling with the "manager," Tim, finally found out that the delivery was held back awhile because the driver didn't think he was going to be tipped. Tim basically stated that he was okay with operating the business this way. I always tip the drivers around 18-20% and was really discouraged to find out that Pink's allows their drivers to passive aggressively punish customers because they don't think they're getting a good enough tip. I reached out to Pink's via FB and my complaint was forwarded to the corporate office, but no one ever bothered to reply. Sad because I enjoyed their product, but I will not support a business who has no regard for their customers. read more

Husband and I just ordered it on the advice of friends, and to say we were happily surprised is putting it mildly. This is the best pizza we've had in quite a while (and we're true pizza lovers). Delicious crust, generous toppings and a pleasantly spicy sauce make this our new go-to pizza place when we get a craving. 7/26/2017 First visit as we explained to the unfriendly young lady behind the counter. All she said was here are our menus and pointed for us to pick them up. I had to turn and walk away to let my husband order since we drove from far north Houston just to get this type of customer service. The bathroom was not nasty but in need of a scrubbing to the sink and light switch as well as better quality soap. We ordered a 16' Large cheese pizza 1/2 with jalepenos for $17.99. It took about 20 minutes. When the pizza was brought to our table it was hot and fresh but after biting into it, It was NOTHING SPECIAL. I would have liked it cooked a little longer because the crust was soggy. My husband and I NEVER eat a whole pizza but we did today. This pizza was not that big for a large considering Costco( our go to for pizza) that is much larger(we have at least 4-5 slices left over) and cheaper. The service and medicore pizza will not make us return. read more

Ah, Pink's. Best new Pizza joint in Houston. What's not to like? This pricey Pizza is phenomenal for pick up or delivery, though I question some of the combinations. It's owned by the same folks who brought you the Dragon Bowl on 11th and Shepherd. One look at the ingredients available and you can see how easy it to get a great pizza from these folks: ricotta cheese, feta cheese, ROASTED red bell pepper, goat cheese, ROASTED garlic. Look out Star Pizza, there's a new gourmet in town. No question, hands down, "the Lazy Lasagna" is an awesome pizza. Anything else you can come up with, likewise, I am sure will not disappoint. Steer clear of "the Southwestern." Something is off with the BBQ sauce (sorry, native Texan here) and the red onions are too thin to survive the baking process. Also, this place is expensive! Two "off the menu" pizzas and some sodas will throw you into the $50 neighborhood - insane price for pizza! I was half expecting Take Out Taxi to deliver it for that price. The cheese sticks are to die for and a bargain at that! They're little pizzas that would fill anyone up! For anyone looking for a "pizza joint," this is not the place. It is a store front focused on delivery that accommodates walk ins with a few tables in front of the counter (much as Domino's on Kirby does). That being said, just order it in and pick it up! Well worth the drive or the wait. Finally, ask about the Pizza insurance ($.50). It's actually a charitable donation and a great idea. I slap it on my order every time. read more

We have had Pink's at neighborhood gatherings for several years and have ordered delivery many times. Being able to order on-line has always been nice. Last night will be the last. Delivery time was excellent but the quality of the pizzas have been declining and last night was the worst. One pizza was so soggy with grease the bottom of the box was soaked. All three flavors were bland and some of the meats and sausages had an odd, hard to place flavor. Back to Star for us. read more

An hour wait for delivery on a Sunday night at 8pm seemed a bit long, but the wait was well worth it. I had to try the "Lazy Lasagna" specialty pizza for the name if nothing else. Italian sausage, beef, and ricotta topped the pizza. The meats were very high quality and the ricotta had a nice smoky taste to it. Crust on the hand-tossed pizza was good too. I had a terrible experience dealing with the manger at this restaurant. I have been a long time and loyal customer of this pizza place. There was a small misunderstanding with the order. When I called to explain the issue the manager was extremely rude and disrespectful and would not accept any reasonable solution before hanging up with me. I was very disappointed and will no longer be using this pizza place. I encourage all of you to follow suit. Hopefully I will have an opportunity to talk to an owner and maybe they can help. My order was put in but no one made it. The manager credited me for half of the price, but I'm already turned off. If I hadn't mentioned it no one would have inquired. The woman who I tried to place my order with was short, uninformative and extremely unhelpful when I asked a simple question. I cancelled my order quick! When the driver never showed the x-er MBA who answered the phone told me the driver had come by and left a message on my phone. a step up from the super chain joints (dominos, pizza hut, etc) but nothing to get your panties in a wad about. its not a gourmet pizza with special toppings or a fantastic crust cooked in a stone oven but it is tastey and a step up from the chains. if you walk in, you can see them making the pies (you can do this at a pappa johns too). the one thing i like is you can buy it by the slice and they are the big huge slices. toppings are pretty normal but the pre-planned menu has some nice combinations. of course you can always build it yourself. quality of the ingredients is so so as well. not like the cheese taste amazing or the sauce is perfect but its ok. overall the place is ok. tastes ok. although i'm saying this with a preference to gourmet pizzas. at a steep price, its not a place i frequent but if someone wanted to go, i wouldn't put up too much of a fuss. read more

What? I haven't reviewed this place yet?!! This is my favorite pizza place in town. No one else can compare when it comes to Pink's pizza ingredients. My two favorite specialty pizzas are the Bada Bing (Prosciutto, Bacon, Pepperoni, Provolone, Mozzarella, Roma Tomato, Spinach and Mushroom w/ Our Delicious Pizza Sauce) and This Guy (Prosciutto, Italian Sausage, Rosemary Chicken, Goat Cheese, Mozzarella, Spinach, Mushroom, Tomato and Roasted Garlic w/ Our Delicious Pizza Sauce). I've tried the Luigi before but didn't really like it. The gorgonzola cheese was a little TOO stinky for me. The ingredients are always really fresh and their combinations of toppings are creative and gourmet. The crust is perfect. I'm not crazy about thin-crust, so I'm biased on this, but I feel like it's the perfect thickness with just the right amount of grease. The toppings and cheese don't slide off like a lame pizza either... they stay on. The sign of a good pizza to me. Friendly and quick service. We always pick up the pizza and their time estimates are right on. They have a few stools to sit on and watch TV while you wait for your pizza to be ready. The pizza here is really consistent. I can always count on Pink's for a delicious pizza! read more
