The thing is, with a wet sump oil system, I can't take my car to any Joe Shmo oil change place and I've even been advised to avoid dealerships; these guys don't know what they are doing. The car has to be running for so long, the temperature has to be just right, all of these variables have to be met before changing the oil. I decided to take a chance on Mangol's because the reviews were incredible. The car was running fine and no warning lights were on. After they repaired the air conditioner, two miles from the shop, the check engine light started flashing. They said it was safe to drive, and to bring it back in. It isn't ok to drive a car that is misfiring, so I had it towed to the shop. They then said it needed a new knock sensor $90 and replaced that. Then all sorts of warning lights started flashing and they said it needed a new ABS Pump & Module $1289. At this point we were hamstrung and reluctantly agreed. Roughly $3500 later, on the way home again the airbag light went on and the fasten seat belt light started flashing. At this point I wouldn't trust them to open the car door, let alone attempt to fix anything ever again. Lesson learned, don't take your car to Mangols.

Brought it to them again and it took them a week to replace the crankshaft sensor. Okay I understand it was difficult to get it out. But it did nothing and they still charged me $$$$. Bought a cheap code scanner and figured out I have maf and knock sensor codes. Replaced the MAF sensor myself and boom no more stalling. Something that took them many days to fail to figure out. Knock sensors are much more difficult on 5.3L so I had to take the intake off. Intake manifold bolts are all torqued differently by them. The hose to brake booster had no clamp on the end of it so if the hose pops off I would kinda lose brakes. They also put cheapest no name knock sensors in it. No voltage reading with my multimeter when you knock on it. Replaced with AC Delco. Now my truck finally works well. That's all you need to know about Bob's Automotive.

This was one of the most frustrating car buying experiences I've had…read more I was actively working a deal on a Chevy Equinox EV from out of state and made it very clear I was serious -- we discussed out-the-door pricing, confirmed details like the charger and paperwork, and I was literally preparing to drive 7 hours early the next morning with my dad to complete the purchase. At no point was I told there was another buyer actively purchasing the vehicle. Instead, I was led to believe the car was available and that we were moving forward. Then, right after confirming final details, I was suddenly told the vehicle was "in the process of selling." I completely understand first-come, first-served -- that's not the issue. The issue is the lack of transparency. If another buyer was ahead of me, that should have been clearly communicated so I could have made an informed decision (like putting down a deposit immediately). This isn't the first time I've had this happen during my search, but this was by far the most poorly handled. If you're an out-of-state buyer, be very cautious. Don't make plans or assume anything is yours unless you have it locked down in writing. Very disappointing experience.
