I had a very disappointing experience at this dental office. I am 5 months pregnant, and my OB-GYN specifically recommended that I only have a routine teeth cleaning and avoid X-rays unless absolutely necessary. I explained this to the staff and let them know I had dental X-rays taken just six months ago. Despite this, the dentist refused to perform even a basic cleaning unless I agreed to new X-rays. I felt that my concerns, my pregnancy, and my physician's recommendation were completely dismissed. I understand that every office has its own policies, but there should be some flexibility and consideration for pregnant patients, especially when recent X-rays are already on file. I left without receiving the cleaning I had scheduled and was very frustrated by the lack of accommodation and understanding. read more

If you're a new patient, avoid Pinnacle Modern Dentistry at all costs. This place operates more like an insurance racket than a dental office. Before they ever clean a single tooth, they'll require multiple visits--stretching out your care unnecessarily while continuously billing your insurance. I'm someone who has had only three cavities in my entire life (45+ years) and have no major dental issues whatsoever. There was absolutely no reason for them to keep delaying a basic cleaning--except, of course, to rack up more charges on my insurance. Yes, they'll take new X-rays (which is expected), but instead of simply cleaning my teeth, they scheduled multiple additional exams. Then they claimed they forgot record an exam that was already performed so they had to do it again, further delaying my cleaning and requiring yet another additional visit (and likely another insurance charge coming). Months have gone by, and I still haven't received a simple cleaning--the entire reason I went in the first place. With literally hundreds of other dental options in North Scottsdale, do yourself a favor and choose one of them instead. Don't waste your time, your money, or your patience here. read more

I had my semi annual dental checkup at Pinnacle Modern Dentistry with Dr. Dr. Hetal Patel and I was informed that I needed two crowns. These teeth had previous watches on them so it was no surprise. I wasn't experiencing any pain with these two teeth prior to getting the crowns. When injecting the lidocaine I think Dr. Patel hit a nerve with the needle because it was excruciatingly painful and my tongue felt funny (numb and tingling) for a month afterwards. She did the first crown and when the lidocaine injection (numbing) wore off there was A LOT of pain when eating anything other than soft food like mashed potatoes and oatmeal. She never said that I'd have pain for several weeks to a month afterwards. A week after the first crown, she did the second crown. Same experience. Lots of pain while eating. She said this is normal. She said it's because they did a permanent crown right from the start and it's different when you get a temporary crown and it gets replaced a few weeks later. That makes no sense at all. I've had many crowns before, both temporary and permanent, and I've never experienced pain after the initial lidocaine injection wore off. The third week I went back for deep cleaning and bite adjustment. Teeth still hurt A LOT when eating and I was told this is normal. No explanation why. She just hemmed and hawed with no explanation. I kept prodding and pushing her until she finally said that I might need root canals and referred me to an endodontist. In my opinion, any competent dentist would've known from the start that there's a possibility that I needed a root canal but she never mentioned that possibility. In my opinion, she's very incompetent and I will never go back there again. I would give her zero stars, but unfortunately, you have to pick one-star as a minimum. read more

If you think you're going to join as a new patient to this dental office using their $59.00 exam, x-rays and cleaning, THINK AGAIN. Something feels very off and scam-like here. My story: Around Nov./Dec. 2024, as a new patient, I set up an appointment for their exam, x-ray & cleaning special (as shown on their Yelp Page.) Because I was due for a routine cleaning and also looking for a new dentist I checked on Yelp and came across this dental office offering a new patient special for $59.00. While trying to set up an appointment over the phone I found it unusual that the soonest they could see me for a routine cleaning was over two months out. In fact, during the initial scheduling, after I mentioned that I'd be utilizing their offered $59.00 special, the receptionist seemed to slightly pause before offering an appointment, but it had to be scheduled it 8-10 WEEKS OUT. So, okay, no problem...I went ahead with setting up the appointment. Fast/Forward to about a week before my appointment...I called the office with a question and I was still left with the impression that the basic exam, x-rays & cleaning WOULD BE DONE on my upcoming scheduled appointment date. Fast/Forward to my actual appointment day: I arrived on time, filled out the necessary paperwork and went through the x-ray process. I was then taken to a room and instead of being attended to by a hygienist for the exam & cleaning portion (where typically the dentist only comes in later for his final assessment & suggestions), this time the dentist saw me first. (Overall, my teeth and gums are in very good condition, though I was aware I am in need of a crown.) He gave my mouth a fairly simple looking over and immediately targeted the tooth in need of a crown. He explained the process and I was offered an estimate...a very complex and BLOATED estimate. I was shown an estimate sheet with two columns. One column was the basic (VERY BLOATED) pricing and the other column was their "reduced price", STILL BLOATED and only available if I bought into some other type of one year SmileGeneration program for an additional $119. I listened and (due to the large out-of-pocket-cost for me) hesitantly gave it some consideration. I agreed to go forward with having the crown work done the following week, still thinking my cleaning was going to happen this same day of my original appointment...(after all, that's what I was originally scheduled for.) As the dentist wrapped up his presentation I was then expecting to now be seen by the hygienist. Instead, I was told that this wouldn't be happening that day because they didn't have a hygienist available. What?!? Like WTH? Who schedules a patient for a cleaning without having available hygienists to do the work? I was then told that the cleaning portion could be handled the following week, on the same day my crown would be put in. Okay then, I agreed to this...to have the exam/x-rays & cleaning done on the same day as the crown work. I was told if I wanted to change my mind I could if I called by a certain date, and that they'd still do the exam & cleaning that date for the advertised $59.00 Yelp price. Fast/Forward: After some thought I called to cancel the crown portion by the agreed date I was told to because --just out of nowhere-- paying close to an $1800 expense out-of-pocket is a lot for just about anyone. When I called to cancel the crown portion the office manager answered...the same woman who had explained and set up my appointment for the next week. Oddly, after only four days, suddenly she appeared to have come down with a bad case of amnesia, not remembering who I was. She put me on a very long hold before another guy picked up the call to allow me to finish canceling the crown portion of the appointment. I did, however, express to him that I still wanted to come in for my scheduled exam & cleaning...the one that office mngr. scheduled me for. This guy tells me that he'd have to REschedule me (again) for an additional 8-10 WEEKS OUT...that (again) their hygienist is booked that far out. What do you mean?! I already have an appointment that was set up last week for this service. What legitimate dental practice has only one hygienist for their entire clientele?? [[**PAY ATTENTION HERE:]] Then it hit me...this dental practice misleadingly uses that advertised $59.00 Yelp special offer as a "leader price" to attract new patients, however they have NO intention of honoring it UNLESS that new patient agrees to having major (costly) work done and additionally buys into their SmileGeneration program (at an additional cost) to afford paying for it. Withholding cleaning appointments by scheduling customers SO far out, this dental office virtually makes it impossible for new patients to get cleanings or simple dental work UNLESS they commit to major dental work. This place is hoping potential new clients either just give in or give up and walk away. Done. So, that's my story and I'm sticking to it. read more

Absolutely the worst service and group of unprofessional want to be professionals I've ever dealt with....... Here's what happened and this all started on July, 18th 2023.... They say your tooth has a crack and you need a crown. I say great, ok lets fix it though I had absolutely no pain or thought anything was wrong with the tooth mind you... . I have the crown put on and come back a week later to have my teeth cleaned, I tell them that I have pain and discomfort on the tooth they put the crown on and they say that is normal because of the trauma the tooth under went and said it can take awhile for everything to feel normal again which made sense to me. So a few months go by and I still have pain in my tooth and also start getting horrible sinus infections and a smell in my nose like rotten eggs and sulfur taste in my mouth which I've never had in my life and I'm 48 years old along with a large abscess on my gum above my tooth were they did the crown. I call the office and make an appointment to come back so they can look at my tooth. When I show up at the appointment they ask me what's going on and I tell them I'm still in pain and now have these sinus infections which the tell me I must have COVID because you can't get sinus infections from a bad tooth which is a blatant lie! They proceed to examine me and now tell me the tooth must have cracked more when they grinded on it to apply the crown and now I need a root canal. I'm thinking well you never explained to me that there could be a chance your tooth may crack more and you may need a root canal after receiving a brand new crown but ok lets get the root canal done. I make another appointment to come back to get a root canal, which I had to wait almost a month because they don't staff a doctor that can do the root canal and he travels to other offices so I need to wait tell he makes his monthly appearance back here at the wonderful Pinnacle Peak Modern Dentistry.... On November 17th I show up for the root canal and I wait around in a chair for over an hour and then the doctor finally comes in and asks what's going on with my tooth which I explained again and says ok lets get you numbed up and he proceed to do so and lets me sit about another 30mins for the Novocain to kick in. Finally comes back and now says he doesn't want to do the procedure because the tooth could be so badly cracked now that a root canal may not fix the issue and I may need an implant and wants me to get a CBCT scan at another office because they don't have that type of equipment at this office. So now I'm completely numb and very upset at this point and ready to completely lose it because why wouldn't they have told me to get this scan before I even got the crown to check the tooth to see how bad the crack was to began with and why in the hell would you numb me up to send me home and tell me I need this scan.... I'm beyond words at this point and they proceed to make me an appointment at another practice for the scan. I go and have the scan done on December 1st, 2023 and they tell me they will send the imagining back to Modern Dentistry and someone will contact me with the results. I wait over two weeks and never here from anyone. On December 19th I call them and spoke to a lady at the front desk and asked why no one has called with my results and she said because that doctor is only here once a month and I need to make an appointment to come in and see him to go over my scan results but he doesn't have any appointment tell January 18, 2024. I said that is ridiculous I was told someone would call me and let me know what needed to be done next and if he is a traveling doctor he must have a laptop that he can at least view the image on and let me know what they found and she said she would need to call him and find out and that she would get back to me. That was on 12/19/2023 and today is 01/03/2024 and no one has called me and again this all started back on 07/18/2023. I would normally never put up with anything like this and just go somewhere else but they put me in a rock in a hard place because I had already paid for the crown and if they couldn't do the root canal and fix the crown they would apply that money to an implant but I have no faith in this office to ever do anything right and would never want them to touch my mouth or anyone else's ever again so beware!! This is not an isolated incident were one person at the office did something wrong, its a complete mess across the board so start looking for a new place to go if your a patient here and if your thinking of going here because its close to your home or office drive a little further you'll thank me, I promise.... So today I have contact a new dentist to have them evaluate my situation and my attorney. There is definitely something going on with this place and the only thing they are good at is taking your money as the definitely don't take care of anything else or actually care for anyone. read more

Felt like he was inconvenienced that I was there. They never sent over the xrays they took or put them in my chart for my normal dentist to see. When I got to the new place they were told the wrong tooth by pinnacle office. Had to wait over an hour to get the right tooth verified. Now the two wonderful ladies at the front office get 5 stars for their kindness and due diligence for dealing with my insurance company. I had made an appointment for wisdom teeth removal and planned both 5 days for myself and my girlfriend to be off of work for the recovery. After paying for my appointment up front, I was told I could no longer get my removal because I didn't follow prior instructions. I asked what instructions are they talking about because I was informed of none. I got zero phone calls, texts, emails or anything to inform me of what my expectations were. It's fascinating to me that the receptionist who yelled at me to get out of her office is incapable of doing the simplest of jobs as a dentist receptionist of informing clients of their expectations for appointments. If you can't call and simply inform clients of crucial information as a grown woman then you probably shouldn't be working there. Overall this place is terrible and overall a big scam. Been going here for six years, despite my appointment being rescheduled numerous times after Dr. Mitchell left, because they were unable to find a hygienist. While everyone was very friendly during my last visit, I wasn't expecting to be there for an hour and a half for just x-rays and a cleaning. I used to have a strong fear of going to the dentist, but Pinnacle Modern Dentistry changed that. The front desk is so kind the moment you walk in and make sure to be very clear about the services and payment options. The waiting room is so clean and they make sure that they disinfect every pen after each use. Dr. Lanie is so nice and made me feel very comfortable especially after I discussed my fears. I didn't feel any pain during my tooth fillings and that experience has changed my perception of going to the dentist. Bailee was my dental hygienists and made sure to explain each step during my deep cleaning. She was very kind and thorough. Dr. Andersen was the oral surgeon who removed all of my wisdom teeth. I was extremely anxious at the beginning of the removal but since they offer general anesthesia I didn't remember or feel anything. The surgery was also very fast and only took about 30-45 minutes. Pinnacle Modern Dentistry has been such a life changing dental practice and I trust them so much with my teeth! read more

Been going here for 6 years. Came in for a cleaning, waited 45 minutes, dentist looked at my teeth (strange since every other visit they do the cleaning then see the dentist). He said they cannot clean my teeth since they require a deep cleaning and I had 2 cavities. This seemed really fishy and they had wasted my time sitting in a chair for almost an hour. I got my teeth cleaned and a second opinion at another dentist office. No extra cleaning needed no cavities. If I could give a negative star I would. Avoid this place. It has gone down hill. Always referring out to other dentist and never offering to schedule teeth cleaning. Their payment plans are a joke. You have to sign up with a shotty place called smile club. That is really hard to navigate their web site. When you have an infected tooth and they will not schedule you for a root canal until you have this 200$ x ray at another facility, the dentist says "it's ok to walk around with pus draining, most people do and they are fine" just gargle with warm salt water. Oh and the other facility with the 200$ X-Ray has an answering machine for you to leave a message and they will call you back to schedule an appointment 3 days from when you called. Forgets to call in antibiotics. Staff really don't care about if you are running a fever from your abscess or it's traveling down your neck.. Zero stars due to I was lied too, they quoted wrong procedure code prices then they tried to charge thousands of dollars & after I checked my insurance it should of been half the amount they quoted. The manager said she quoted it wrong and "it's human too do that". The new dentist mixed up my teeth he said that issues and mixed up what he said multiple times. He forgot what he said for which tooth had an issue. Said I had multiple issues. Went to another dentist for a second opinion & they quoted correct codes & procedure insurance fee schedules. The dentist also said no issues except maybe one cavity not five! I was extremely shocked on this location & office manager listing & quoting higher costs. Plus, that dentist pretty much malpractice & misdiagnosed teeth location in the mouth and teeth issues that were not true. So glad I gave them no money & would not let them near my mouth after getting a second opinion. Buyer beware for sure & would definitely recommend reading the previous customer reviews of similar concerns. My opinion, always get a second one. But definitely not this dentist office. My husband and I were referred to Dr. Mitchell when he was with Scottsdale Modern Dentistry. We found him to be extremely professional and caring. He took the time to explain what work needed to be done and the best ways to do it. Keeping in mind his patient's pocketbook, he has his staff work up 3 to 4 different ways to solve the problem based on what they could afford. I've had bridge work and my husband has had a crown done and we're very happy with the results. The office is state of the art and very comfortable. I have always taken pretty good care of my teeth and had never had a cavity until I went here. The dental hygienist DESTROYED my mouth and left me bleeding for days and made it very difficult to eat. I am an avid flosser and brusher and I left the appointment with a new cavity and an extremely painful and swollen mouth. Now I'm scared to go to the dentist because of them.
