The restaurant seems clean upon entering. However, the signs encouraging outsiders to not use the bathroom wasn't inviting. I ordered the "completa " with carne asada, gallo pinto, queso frito, repollo, and maduros. The woman serving me attempted to give me meat that had been sitting in a metal container. I noticed that it was charged and I kindly asked her if I could have fresh meat. She gave me some of the fresh meat. The meat was a bit tough and it was a struggle to cut with plastic cutlery. The gallo pinto "rice with red beans" had no flavor and was dry. The mashers and fried cheese were good. The repollo "cole slaw mix" was beyond awful and tasted like pure vinegar with spoiled cabbage. The homemade hot sauce was also pretty awful. I was disappointed and will not be coming here again. They decided to wait until the last strip was sold to me of course that was next and the next 7 person in line that there's no meat and that it would be ANOTHER 15 MINUTES. When it was my turn the girl didn't even allow me to speak and just said "we ran out of meat". As they prolly up the entire grill with meat. Let me mentioned that the whole time before 2 females and a gentleman were serving, however they were all over the place. The girls will go back and forth to the kitchen. Please remember this was not even close to their closing time, which is 9pm. How are you going to let your and all of the fritangas #1 food item sell completely out? So I went to Pinolandia on Quail Roost Dr = SW 184th Not to be confused with its other location in the city of Miami on NW 12th Avenue. This fritanga restaurant is very well known in Miami due to their very good Steak/Carne asada, in the MIAMI location they have excellent staff, friendly and they cook very good food. The location in SW Miami Dade on 184th Street is actually pretty bad and left me thinking how it's possible for the same restaurant be so different and so terrible. My experience: I ordered the Steak/Carne asada with Gallo Pinto "beans and rice" , plantains and ordered a Repocheta on the side, when I got to the table all of the food was lukewarm definitely NOT hot, the steak was tough and rubbery, and that is because it's obvious that the steak had been in the steam table for such a long time, this also happened with the Repocheta, a Repocheta is a corn tortilla folded over with white cheese and fried, when made fresh they are amazing however this Repocheta suffered the steaks faith, it died on a steam table after being made perhaps that morning, it was so tough I couldn't bite into it. I approached a lady behind the counter and told her about my issue with the Steak and the Repocheta to which she replied "you need to talk to the manager because I can't help you" and pointed at the manager which mind you is the same person to serve my food in the first place. I told the manager my predicament and he offered to warm up my food, I replied "sure what's your method?" And he gracefully said the MICROWAVE OVEN, well I asked him if it would be possible to make the food over and I assured him that I was not in a hurry and was willing to wait for fresh food and he said it wasn't possible and proceeded to put my food in the Microwave oven which made it hot but definitely not good. Side note, their chimichurri was a blend of who knows what but was NOT chimichurri and was spoiled too. Shame on you, but here is how to fix the issue. GET INVOLVED! I know it's hard to own several restaurants and perhaps having one so far south is an issue but in the restaurant business, quality control, guest experience and being involved and present makes all the difference in the world! I'm fully in love with their original location. Having recently learned that they had opened a location closer to my house I was excited to check it out. However this branch fell so short. Creamed baby corn was very watery with no flavor. Tongue was bland though cooked perfectly. The fried cheese and cacao drink were the only redeeming menu items. Even the rice seemed old and flavorless. Service was very friendly and the place was immaculately clean and had a strict policy on the number of people allowed inside. I've visited their location not far from downtown Miami, and I have to say the flavors in the food are the same. The set up and look of the restaurant is also very much the same as well. It's just a much smaller location. I opted out of having the rice this time, but I did however taste the rice of my dinner buddy. It was good and flavorful and fresh. The meat (carne asada) is the absolute best part of this whole experience for me. It's full of flavor and they serve a generous portion each time. It is cooked on a grill and that definitely shows in the flavor. Gives it a great right off of the bbq taste. This is by no means a fancy place. Very fun down and it's also somewhat of a little market as well with several items for sale. It is very cramped and I don't recommend eating in if you're going out afterwards because you will smell like food. The seating area is limited. Just a few tables right in the entry way. Upon walking inside you no longer feel like you're in the United States. But the food is good and at a very good price point if you are hungry and want something good and cheap. How quickly a place can go downhill. The service and food quality have gone down dramatically in the past few months. We won't be going back. We have been going for 6 months. After the first 2 times things got steadily worse. Right now: 1. Service is slow. There are 4 to 5 employees working and I could be the only customer and still they make you wait. 2. Service is rude. There is a lady with short black hair in a bun who is extremely rude. She doesn't respect the order of the line, she tries to give you the "oldest" food first and gets mad if you ask for something fresh 3. Food is greasy and lower quality.
