My husband and I just enjoyed a great first experience at Pinstripes. We went with friends who also brought their 19 month old little girl. We chose to play bocce ball bc the bowling lanes were all reserved. We had a wonderful server taking care of us, Alyssa. She was so friendly and very accommodating. We were able to keep playing bocce ball even after our 1hour time slot since there was not a reservation after us. When we got there they had a brunch buffet set up. The chef made the cutest waffle plate for our friend's daughter. Some with bananas/Nutella, another with cinnamon apples, and the last with whip cream/sprinkles. My husband and I love this place! Dimas & Katie always take such great care of us. We come here for the half price bottles of wine they do on Fridays. We love how they have become great friends that they make this place such a pleasure to be around. We hope management realizes what a great team they have behind the bar, even when they are busy they always always make a point to never make us feel like they are neglecting us, they never break that bond with us and they seem to always make everyone around us feel special too. Have been to pinstripes several times....and it is always good. I do recommend reservations....especially if you want to play bocce. A group went last night for my fiancees birthday. There were a few misses during dinner...such as...our tenderloin appetizers was very over cooked....well done instead of rare!! However, the server was attentive and replaced them quickly...and second time around they were delicious! It just goes to show that a NICE place cares if they are doing a good job. Mistakes happen and it was fixed....not a big deal. I had some kind of ravioli chicken thing....it was....different(!) But very very good....would order again. Atmosphere wise? Not sure.in the burbs if there is a nicer place to hang with a crowd. We really like it here! but like I said....make reservations....we were done with dinner about 8....the wait list for bocce was about 3 hours!! Oh well...we will plan better next time! Great setting for a Saturday night. I brought 14 of my coworkers here and we enjoyed great food, great service, and the hit of the night was an hour of Bocceball. We were able to sit in the open area adjacent to the courts that made it easy for everyone who was seated to watch the game and interact amongst those playing on the court. This is an overpriced bowling alley to say the least. I was there on a friday night for dinner, drinks, and some bowling with my girlfriend. you would think that a night like that would be around $75-$100 but i came out $160 in the hole and don't even really feel like we got a lot. Drinks were much higher than other places in the area and the food which i heard was good wasn't at all. I am a huge pizza fan so I tried the flatbread and was pretty disappointed, soggy and tasteless. There is much better pizza in this area that I will go for before heading back there for it. the bowling was nice but about double you will pay anywhere else. the only thing that I would go bad for is the bocce since i didn't get to try that out. read more

We had our wedding shower at pinstripes and we loved it! The wait staff was friendly and super helpful. They were constantly asking if we needed anything and were quick about any requests we had. The food and drinks were delicious. Overall it was a great time! I would definitely recommend this establishment for any bridal or baby showers. read more

Had Mother's Day brunch for the first time. No one in our group enjoyed it. The food was cold and dry. The waffles were soggy. The fruit was watery. Went there last year for brunch after finding this place from company event. Loved, loved, loved the brunch. Went there a couple of Sundays ago and thought we went to the wrong place:) All of the things that I wanted to go there for were no longer on the menu. I loved their bruchetta and their specialty salads. Gone, Nada... The peel and eat shrimp also a favorite were a hit or a miss. Some were tasty others water logged. Our server was attentive and I asked her where all of the other items were and she said they were discontinued because they did not move well. That was odd because the salads and bruchetta were wonderful. Now that I think of it I don't even remember any cheeses on the brunch either. Just crumbled cheese for your make your own salad. I make my own salads all of the time so a nice specialty salad would have been nice. Cut half of the good stuff off the buffet but keep the same price tag of $24. I did try a small slice of the prime rib and will say not being much of a meat eater it was very good. I think we all know what they did here..why offer more if you can get away making cheap and still bring in the same dollar. The place was crowded so I guess it didn't bother others as it did me. Last Tuesday I went to Pinstripes with a friend. It was a really bad experience..besides being at total rip-off. The check was almost 70.00. for a few drinks and some apps. a small salad and soup. The person or persons in the Kitchen should turn in his/her apron and get into another line of work. The food was burnt, spoiled, watery,cold, anyone with a brain would have refused to serve it. i normally would not say anything..but i would just not go back. OMG..since they ask i told them. Then they became really overbearing. What a shame..oh did i say my 10 dollar glass of wine was warm. Guys at the top you have big problems..break down and hire a chef who can cook. spend some money as you are charging downtown prices. You ruined a place that had excellent food when you opened. I went there expecting the same quality and preparation as before. you lost me as a customer. read more

I took my family to Pinstripes for Sunday Brunch after seeing that Santa was going to make an appearance. The food and the service was great. Great selection and all of the food was fantastic. Although there was a long line for the omelet station, they did a great job at keeping all of the food stocked up. My kids enjoyed the chocolate fountain. Went bowling with the family afterwards and was able to have a drink or two while watching the Bears Game. Two negatives to this place. First, the booze is expensive and second, they need to learn how to make a better bloody mary! Either of these will keep me from returning again. read more

My husband and I don't live far from Pinstripes, so we head up there often for dinner. We love the Monday night Chopped Salad and Spaghetti and Meatballs special. They have one of my favorite wines there as well. The food is always consistenly good, but lately it seems like service is slipping- waiting too long to get a refill on a drink, pizza ordered without mushrooms came with mushrooms, salad ordered without onion had onion in it. I like Pinstripes, like the atmosphere and am willing to keep going back there, I just hope these slips in service are cleared up soon. read more

My family has eaten Easter Sunday brunch here for several years in a row. We have also been to a few holiday parties hosted here. The food is always delicious. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. The prices are a little hight but not too bad. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the wait time for a table, even with a reservation you still sometimes wait longer than you should have to. Overall, great and fun place. read more

Wow, this place has tanked. Considering this place is in a very ritzy neighborhood and quite expensive, you'd think they'd have much higher standards. We've come here in the past and had a nice time but we have several problems last night when we came as a group of 5 for a birthday. First off, bowling 2 games runs you $130?! That's insane. When I saw that the price was $8 an hour, per person, I assumed shoes were included with that. Nope. They're $5 extra per person. So the 5 of us, 2 games (2 hours) with shoes was $130 just for bowling. We got to our lane and discovered that several letters on the machine didn't work so we couldn't enter our names properly. Ordered a round of cocktails and they had NO alcohol in them. And I'm not talking about being nit picky because they weren't strong enough. I'm saying...none. at. all. I ordered a Long Island and my aunt ordered a martini and they had NO detectable trace of alcohol in them whatsoever. NONE. My husband got straight vodka on the rocks and it was mostly water. C'mon, if you're going to overcharge people for everything then at least be smart enough to keep them buzzed so they don't mind shelling out the cash. So, then we ordered several appetizers to pick at while we bowled and as soon as the food came out I pulled a long, black hair out of the spinach dip, which turned everyone off to the food in general. I did eat a little of the other food and it was tasty and presented very nicely. However, none of it really felt like it was freshly made. I hope they improve because we really like this place but charging top dollar for everything and then having issues with every aspect of your experience there is a big turn off. Please raise the standards of your food and drinks to match what you're charging. I will say that our server was very nice and they brought a piece of cake out for the birthday and it was delicious, and very sweet of them to do of course. read more

My family just had a celebration of life at Pinstripes after my dad passed away. I had to plan it from across the country. I had no idea how many people would be there and had never seen the location. I had to guess at everything. Their events staff was wonderful. They were open and easy to work with. They helped me estimate the right amount of food and made it simple for me to order more if need be. We had the 4 seasons room with 4 bocce ball courts to ourselves and the size/setting was perfect. Not too casual, but family friendly and it encouraged mingling. The food was great, the wine and drinks were great, and the service was even better. The manager welcomed me and walked me through everything. She was incredibly professional yet warm and friendly too. Every place would be lucky to have a manager like her on staff. The wait staff serving us did a great job. They were attentive, professional, and friendly as well. I would not hesitate to recommend Pinstripes to anyone for an event and if I lived there I would frequent it for dinner. Our guests had nothing but good things to say about the Pinstripes in Barrington before, during, and after the party. Thank you to everyone there from the bottom of my heart. Our party of 8 had a reservation for bocce at 7:00. We asked for a table, too, and they looked at us like we had four heads even though there were plenty of tables available. The entire evening we had to hunt down our waitress who didn't take our dinner order (someone else eventually did), brought our bill before we were finished and had busboys trying to take plates before we were finished eating. For a table that dropped $320 plus $80 for bocce the service was atrocious. The food was very good despite the other issues. read more

Well let me start with how amazing the brunch was! They had shrimp, bacon, sausage, waffle bar, omelette station, bagels, pizza, salmon, salad, chocolate fountain and more! I would go again for the food! What was really unsettling was when we came in we didn't have reservations and the lady at the front desk said that is fully booked, the restaurant and brunch area. So I went in the car to look online at the open slots and there was available slots for every time. So I made a reservation and went back in this time our whole party was there. They didn't ask for reservations they just sent us to the back desk and we got seated. I think I should have talked to a manager because i am 75 percent Latino and the rest of the party was all white. I do feel I was racially discriminated against. First time at any Pinstripes, won't be recommending it to anyone. We were there for an hour. It took me 20 minutes and having the hostess track down our server to get drinks. Of course they were out of grapefruit juice. This is a bar and restaurant, what do you expect them to have all the mixers as advertised??? Then we're waiting around for 10 minutes while our server was, I imagine, watching grass grown out back. Then the second time I go an get a hostess and ask her is she could find out server she goes, "you guys have Ryan, don't you ?" Of course then all of a sudden Ryan comes out of nowhere and asked if I still wanted another drink. (I never ordered that drink. I'm pretty sure it was to save face in front of the hostess or he got me confused with another customer or he just completely forgot who he is and what he does for a living. Then to top it all off, they lost my girlfriends card. I know it's our fault for leaving the restaurant without it, but we just wanted to get the hell outta dodge and go get some actual service somewhere. When we realized what we had done, she called Pinstripes. They told us nobody found a card and no customers turned one in. It was literally left in the space they'll place it when you return it to a customer. After 4 days and 4 different calls to the restaurant, hallelujah!! They've found it!!! What took 4 days? Why aren't these employees communicating? I can't tell you. But I can tell you that I re downloaded yelp only to give this review. The place was terrible and you can do a lot better if you're looking for bowling. read more

This is a gourmet pizza place almost. The food is absolutely amazing! It's very fresh, you'll taste the difference immediately. The atmosphere is fun and inviting. There's a bowling alley, as well as a few boccie courts, so after you have your meal you can hang out with friends for a little while and have some fun rather than just sitting and chatting. The only drawback is that the service is slow. This is because all of the servers are constantly working the entire floor. So, you'll probably end up with multiple servers yourself. read more

Pinstripes in South Barrington is a very enjoyable place to eat and hang out at. The food is ahhh-mazing (they have a wicked good chop salad and the apple bread pudding is out of this world:) and the service is GREAT too! Also, there is a big patio out back with a fire pit and live music on weekends. it's a good place to go this summer if you want to have a nice drink and meal, relax, and play some games with your buddies. It would also be a great place to have an event, meeting, or party...my friend said they are great at hosting things of that sort. I will be going back many times for sure!! We went with friends last Friday night. Food & drinks were VERY SLOW in coming. Lots of servers running around but mostly seemed confused. Food arrived & the daily prime rib special the men ordered was mediocre. I had the chicken parmesan & it was one of the smallest portions I have ever seen. The flavor was also just OK. Nothing special about the food. My husband ordered the coconut sorbet & he stated that was the best part of the meal. After dinner we went over to play bocce ball. Nice courts & we had a fun time. Next time we would eat at one of the other restaurants in the area & then go over for bocce ball. read more

The food options range from the typical salads and sandwiches that you find at Panera - but Pinstripes also offers fantastic hot pasta entrees. And their salads and sandwiches are a cut above Panera. The portions are huge, they're served in sturdy plastic containers and are packaged in equally sturdy cardboard boxes. Each order is labeled with the recipient's name. We noticed lately that the salads became smaller but with entree sized prices. We will continue to eat here but will find other options from the menu. I have been here a few times since my last review and I have tried it all. I have bowled, played boccie ball, held a company event, and went to brunch. Overall I have to say it is very nice. The service is always great, it is probably the nicest bowling alley I have ever bowled at, the brunch is very tasty and has a nice variety, and the food/drink is always great. I still think it is pretty pricey, but it is a nicer place. You don't come here to get bar food or walk into a stale smoke smelling bowling alley. It's quality. It's a treat. I am drafting this particular review on the food and food service alone. We did not bowl or play games. That may have improved our overall experience. The highlight of the meal was the hostess seating us. I ordered the lobster roll with fingerling potatoes. It was the smallest portions I have ever seen. The waiter actually warned me it was small, but how small was hard to Imagine. Literally 2 inches. It was burnt black on one of the halves. Still it didn't taste too horrible. My lady ordered a roast turkey Cobb with white balsamic dressing which may have well been soda water for all the flavor it had. The turkey tasted like it was bought at a gas station. Thankfully it had tomatoes and bacon. Our first waiter was a total dick. When he did his check back he didn't even stop walking. It was like a drive by shooting. Some how half way through the meal we got a new waiter who said the other waiter just left. Oddly he split with out saying anything to us. The new waiter was much nicer, I think his name was Phil. He kindly offered us a new meal and was super cool through out the rest of the meal. We ended up getting mussels instead of the salad and were happier. I would say if you were forced to come here for a party or something try to eat before. If you have to dine ask for Phil. We worked with pinstripes for the catering for our wedding. The food was exceptional but we went through 3 catering managers in the span of less than 1 year. When we finally signed off on our contract we thought everything would be great. They use an online portal for contracts but we always printed hard copies. Throughout the process we noticed our contract amount due getting larger each time we spoke. They were changing things in the contract that we had already agreed upon (service fee from 10% to 21%, servers from 3 to 10, etc.) thankfully we had printed each contract so we were able to dispute the charges. I don't expect a lot when going to a bowling alley but I do expect some level of professionalism. The staff here was beyond rude, unorganized, and slow. We arrived with a group of 20 on New Years day at 1pm. This is a long standing family tradition. After about 20 minutes of arriving we went up to the bar to see if it was lane side service or if we needed to order from the bar. A very nice women said she would ask our server to come over and when he arrived at the bar he said he would get to us "eventually". When he did finally get to our table we were told that he was there since 9am and other staff called in sick and continued to make excuses. I have working in the service industry for years and I understood, I just usually would expect a simple apology and a thank you for understanding. Not a list of complaints about his day. We had made a reservation for 3 games. We had my elderly mother, my uncle who has terminal cancer and children with us to needless to say we weren't playing as quickly as they would have liked and at 3pm the manager came over and told us that we needed to leave as he had only reserved the lane for us until 3pm. We were never told of any time limit and we were finishing up our last name. They continued to stare us down for the next 20 minutes. In order to help we consolidate players to 2 lanes rather than the 4 we had reserved to assist. This apparently wasn't going to work for them as no one ended up using the two lanes that we opened up for other people. The menu is pretentious with items such as Filet Minot and Chilean Sea Bass. I love good food like the rest of them but perhaps upscale bar food such as upscale sliders or some other finger foods would have been more appropriate for a bowling alley. Overall this place is trying way too hard to be classy without the service to back it up. Needless to say, we won't be back however for some reason I think the staff here is fine with that. read more

This had to be the worst holiday brunch we ever had! Oversold and overcrowded we waited at least one half hour to get a waffle. Very poor selection and variety of food. Not enough help to take care of the crowds. The two salads they put out were right in the middle of the lines of people-not very sanitary. I would not recommend this venue for any holiday!
