BUFFET Review here... The buffet is just awesome. At $20/per adult, it's reasonable for the variety. You will get charged for pop, but I don't know about coffee or juice and mimosas and bloody marys are on special. We have a 4 year old, he was free, awesome! I believe 5 and under are free, 6-12 has a prorated cost. I would recommend walking the buffet first, so you can plan our your strategy. I loaded up on the salads, I love salads, but these were meh, I would skip next time and save the room for the other tasty foods. Surprisingly, the mostaccioli was excellent. For basic pasta, it was really worth it, and the meatball were good too. My son really enjoyed them. I also loved the 'potato skins' or versions of them. They were great. My other favorites were the pizzas, salmon and chicken. My husband loved the prime rib, it was cooked more than rare, but that's okay in this setting and since the meat was tender. My son like all three things on the kid's bar: chicken fingers, which I liked too, fries and mac-n-cheese. My suggestions would be: get a small plate for your table to leave your silverware on, they tables are not set like this, ask for a sharper knife if your are going to enjoy the prime rib, and a spoon would be useful for a couple items as well. For the restaurant, I wish soda, coffee and tea were included. I also wish there were more sauces with the chicken fingers, maybe ranch and honey mustard. I will definitely be back. Seeing as how Pinstripes is open later than all the other restaurants in Hoffman Estates, I ended up grabbing dinner from here several nights of the week when I was in town for work. I always ordered the Pine Nut Crusted Halibut and asked for a side of fruit (I suppose you could say I'm a painfully boring creature of habit). True to Midwestern style, the portions are huge! For the price, you get an absurd amount of halibut and risotto! The halibut was pretty good, but the reason I kept ordering this dish was definitely the risotto, which is buttery, well-seasoned, and just so filling. They give you something that appears to be melted butter on the side. I stayed far away from it. The fruit is a fairly standard rendition of the modern fruit cup. Shame they don't use fresh berries or anything. It's kind of cool how a bowling alley, complete with a bar, is the place to be on a weekday night. But maybe I just never discovered the actual places where people hang out around Hoffman Estates. read more

The food was good; however, the service was so suboptimal as to be unbelievably poor, as if it was their first day open. We had to repeat routine requests repeatedly & we're ignored. My company had their Christmas party here and I really enjoyed it! We did bocce ball, which all the kids loved. The appetizers were all delicious, and the meal was great. They served a ton of food, all of which was much better than I've had at similar types of places. The party coordinator was very helpful and accommodating and even came to check on how we were doing before she left for the evening. Our bartender was amazing and such a good sport (thanks, Alex). When I heard they do weddings here, I thought it might be a weird idea for a wedding venue since I was under the impression it was just a slightly fancier bowling alley...but now that I've been there I think a wedding at Pinstripes would be really fun! We've been coming here since they had their brunch buffets on Sundays as my son loves to have different options and varieties of food to choose from. His favorite are the pizzas and fresh waffles. Anyway, so last Sunday December 10th we got to the restaurant around 1pm just right after church from Willow. We did not have a reservation. We were waiting as there's this group ahead of us which was taking awhile. The girl who was checking in patrons called another girl as she cannot find this groups reservation on the computer. They kept looking only to find out that the lady booked their reservation to another location but they quickly said they'll accommodate them. Mind you, five people. So now it's my turn and I told her it'll be just me and my five year old but we didn't have a reservation. She immediately said they're full for the day and offers the bar instead. I told her we will wait and she immediately said she doesn't know how long the wait would be seems to me that she doesn't want to help us anymore because we did not have a reservation. She did not offer any other resolution aside from the bar. Really? With my five year old?? No apology either. She just went straight back to the screen of the computer in front of her and that's about it. I still said okay thank you and we walked away. My son was upset and of course as a parent, it was not a great feeling. He saw Santa before the exit and he wanted to stay but I was livid already. We got into the car and he was already in tears. We were also both hungry as it was past lunch time. We ended up going to Texas de Brazil instead at Schaumburg. Now, I just really wish they train their staff and not just hire anybody who doesn't know customer service. At least have the decency to be sympathetic to the customer rather than showing you're so busy you can't help them. It just sucks not just for her lack of empathy but also as a the whole staff in this particular location. The group of five technically did not have a reservation because they have their table reserved in a different location but they were accommodated right away but could not accommodate me and my five year old? Went to Pinstripes for the first time tonight and the food was very expensive and NOT GOOD!! My mojito was soda water and rum with a few limes and mint leaves thrown in (the mint was not muddled and the limes were not squeezed; plus no sugar). My crispy chicken sandwich was dry as a hockey puck. I ordered truffle fries for an additional $2 and was brought truffle ranch dipping sauce (that had no truffle flavor). i have mixed reviews on this place, the first time i tried the brunch a few months ago it was amazing! but this time around, the brunch buffet was cold. my reservation was for 11:30, so its not like we went during closing time. everything we had was cold. :( the service both times was great, all of the staff are very kind and attentive. but my advice would be to check the food temps and switch them out as needed. the prime rib and pasta was what i was really looking forward to again because of how good it was the first time. but sadly it disappointed this time around. for 2 people we spent a little over $100 for brunch buffet and one drink each. read more

What could be better than Harry Potter trivia? Harry Potter trivia with butter beer at Pinstripes! My co-worker told me about a Harry Potter trivia that was happening at Pinstripes in South Barrington. I've seen pictures of their restaurant before on social media so I couldn't wait to see what this place looked like. When you're navigating to the restaurant GPS isn't accurate taking you to the front. Since it's located in a huge plaza, there are local signs with arrows that I followed to get there. They even have their own designated parking place. Be sure to get there a few minutes early so you can get a parking spot. The trivia was hosted by a third-party company in a small hall to the right of the entrance; you can check out more of their events on Event Brite. When you enter, stop by the bar, get a drink and find your seat before the trivia begins. Trivia normally occurs during happy hour so once you were seated, the waiter handed you the menu. As I was making my way to the bar, I saw they had a special Three Broomsticks menu with a customized drink so I had to try the Butter Beer. Last time I tried it, I was in Disney world and this version with vodka was so much better. The Butter Beer consisted of vanilla vodka, butterscotch liquor soda and cream. Once we made our way over to our table we had a sheet of Harry Potter characters we had to fill out. Then trivia began with five rounds of questions. We placed our order of two flat breads: Chicken and Avocado Club and the Chicken BBQ flatbread. They were cut into small pieces you could eat during trivia. The Chicken and Avocado club is on their Happy Hour menu with small chicken pieces covered in pesto, large avocado slices with tomato slices under the cheese. The Chicken BBQ was by far the best Chicken BBQ pizza I've seen anywhere else however it is not on their Happy Hour menu online. It had small BBQ slices of pizza, with sauteed red onions and a miraculous BBQ sauce drizzled on top. If you don't see it, you should ask for it! read more

The Staff was fantastic. I made reservations on line for a 4 top and a 2 top because a 6 wasn't available for 12:30. When we checked in and explained the team quickly arranged our seating so we could all sit together. We also made a Bocce ball reservation but thought brunch would go much longer. The staff adjusted our reservation up 30 minutes so we could keep the great time moving. Fantastic Team and teamwork. read more

This place is very nice and they have decent bowling deals. The food service is not the best you always have to wait very long to get a refill or ask a question. The past few visits have continued to disappoint. Tonight I brought the family in for dinner. Food was sub par. The server never came to check on us. When my iced tea was empty for almost 20 mins, she asked if I wanted a refill. When she did, it was bitter and very dark. Maybe the bottom of the batch? She never came back to check. She then brought the check and we let her know about the iced tea being bad and offered a refresh although dinner was over and she was expecting payment. My kids wanted gelato and no dessert was offered or if we wanted anything else. While I feel bad that there are staffing issues, that's no excuse for bad service. Finally, no manager circulates to check on tables. If they had been, the issues we were having may have been properly addressed. read more

I have been to this Pinstripes location about 15 times now, both as part of a small party and large event, some corporate, some personal, and I have held two kid's parties here as well. The food is always fresh, perfectly cooked, and tastes amazing. I am a big fan of the Tenderloin Slider appetizer and Margherita Pizza. The staff has always been helpful, and the rules for bocce are provided on an easy to read card for reference. I do think that they are chronically understaffed, but I have never found the wait for a server to be enough to ruin my evening. All in all, I will continue to happily give this Pinstripes location my business! read more

Blahhhh!!! Nothing special!! This location is like a huge gym!! They put the bocce ball lanes and bowling in front of the resturant so you have to walk through the gym to get to the restaurant. My wife and I had an over the top server who was annoyingly fake with her suggestions and reactions when our food came out! Everything is overpriced drinks are $12.. small entrees are $25-30 my wife had the chicken parmigiana and it tasted like it was frozen from a box.. the red sauce tasted like it was from a jar. My italian jambalaya dish was tasty but the chicken was dry and burnt and the shrimp tasted charred! When our food arrived our waitress screamed "Everything looks AMAZING"! Well thanks for your imput can I eat and see how it tastes with out your personal fake soundtrack to my meal... i mean I like an enthusiastic server but this girl was really over the top with her valley girl voice!! It was like I was on an episode of glee!! Also what is with serving big bottles of warm water with glasses that have no ice??? Why? Well $100 bucks down the tubes ohh well. Disappointed with uninformed and unhelpful staff. We were at your Barrington location Monday evening for a special reunion. We called first to see if we needed to reserve a Bocce Ball court. We were told there would be plenty of courts available. When we we arrived, we asked again and the hostess told us we could play whenever we wanted. However, after we ordered drinks and apps, we were unable play because there was a bag tournament, and they hogged all the Bocce courts! We're pretty disappointed. In the future, I hope you train your staff to know what's going on at your facility. Staff needs to attentively respond to their guests so they can fully participate in the activities that Pinstripes provides. read more

Amazing brunch at a bowling alley?! Who knew!? I sure didn't. Many thanks to Pinstripes for holding a Yelp event a few months back and introducing me to the cool place that houses bowling alleys, bocce ball, beer and pretty stellar food. During said event, I was lucky enough to win brunch & bocce ball for four. Score! This past Sunday me and three lucky friends of mine took advantage of this brunch (normally $20pp) and played bocce ball (normally $20/hour). We all left thoroughly impressed. When we walked in, we had to walk past the buffet spread to get to the dining room and were immediately in awe. It was huge and everything looked great. I'm happy to report everything was just as delicious as it was pretty. Let me break it all down for you~ +Waffle Table with a guy making one of three yummy waffles for you - Nutella & Banana, Strawberries & Cream or Cinnamon Apple - all in mini size which was perfect for me to share & try each with friends. The Nutella & Banana is a cool option and tasted great. +Hot Options Table - This was interesting because one dish would be bacon, the next sausage (their sausage was one of my favorite things by the way, you must get this!), then Chicken Marsala! So it's a mix of breakfast and lunch hot items. In addition to aforementioned items, there are penne meatballs, breakfast potatoes, roasted veggies and a few different types of pizza. +Huge table with cold items - Couple different types of muffins, tons of fruit, salad with tons of topping and dressing options +Seafood table - Unpeeled shrimp, raw fresh salmon and another fresh cold fish +Bagels and 3 different spreads +Omelet station! The omelet the guy made me was so good - soft and fluffy perfection! You can choose from a variety of ingredients and he'll throw 'em all together for you. I got two cheeses, ham and mushrooms...Loved it! He was also carving prime rib for people and there was just plain ol' scrambled eggs if you preferred that. +Cutest thing of all - Mini table for kids at a shorter level with mac & cheese, chicken nuggies, pizza, fries - the usual kid fare. Great addition to the buffet! +Dessert table - Dare I say my favorite of all the tables? It had an amazing chocolate fountain which we witnessed them monitoring making sure to keep it at peak levels for maximum chocolate covered, yum! On this table were some great options for fonduing it up in the fountain like pretzel sticks, twizzlers, strawberries, marshmallows & rice krispies and then some other options you didn't have to dip in like cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies, biscotti, flourless chocolate cake, chocolate brownies with strawberries, and a bit of fruit like grapes. Our server was great throughout our whole meal and there was no issue using my special certificate. My friends and I agreed we would go here and pay full price without blinking an eye. Fantastic food and well worth people going in for their brunch! After brunch, my friends and I headed over to play some bocce ball. One of the workers was super nice teaching us how to play bocce and even played a round with us. I'm not sure if playing for more than an hour would be much fun because we played 30 minutes and were kind of over it, but it's such a cool different option to have. There was a ton of comfy seating options around our bocce ball lane which was nice. In conclusion, we LOVED Pinstripes! I'm so thankful to them, Yelp and Candice G. for hooking us up on Sunday.
