I have tried to make reservations for Pinstripes Mother's Day brunch in South Barrington for years but was always too late so this year my family decided to make reservations in February.. Our excitement vanished the minute we entered through the doors.There were lines everywhere. They ran out of plates. They ran out of eating utensils. The total experience was chaos from beginning to end. I recommend avoiding this place at all cost on Mother's Day. The district manager offered a $25 certificate . What a sham! We have been coming here for happy hour every week for several years and have watched the service, food choices and food quality gradually deteriorate. Our latest visit was extremely disappointing. We were seated at a table outside of the bar area and sat for a long time with no server in sight. I went to track one down and found 5-6 servers in uniform, and one young lady in street clothes, standing at the bar talking together. Once I was able to get someone's attention I thought things were okay. But when our food was delivered the calamari was a very skimpy portion and it was cold. I told the waiter and he (supposedly) replaced it but it was still cold and still did not look like a full order. And to cap off the evening our bills had to be corrected 3 times, and one of them was still incorrect. This was a very disappointing experience from beginning to end. read more

The staff was very helpful with one of our elderly guests who needed special accommodations. This was much appreciated and because of this we will be back! The Saturday brunch food was delicious and the mimosas were truly bottomless. Bocce ball was a fun activity that three generations enjoyed. This review is for the bistro only, I didn't partake in any activities during this visit. If you're looking for a classy and peaceful place to have a meal then stop into the Pinstripes Bistro, it checks all the boxes. I had a casual dinner here on a weeknight and enjoyed the experience. Our waiter was attentive, the food was tasty (esp. the bread and oil... WOW!), and the prices were not anything that would make you think twice about returning. Personally, I had the chicken wings and they were tasty! As usual, I wish the portion size were larger but that's just a personal thing b/c I have a big appetite. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well (salmon and a burger) and felt the portions to be adequate. Went here for the first time Sunday night. Don't remember our servers name but he was very attentive & I give him props for running around as much as he did! Had the wings and they were delicious! I reserved bowling lanes for a graduation party over two weeks before the event. As I was hosting the party and had some items delivered I arrived a little early to be sure all was in order. When I arrived I was not greeted or welcomed. There was a number of staff behind the counter talking and not one of them took notice of me until I called out. Then I was told not all of our lanes were ready, there were still people bowling on them. And they continued to bowl for at least 15 minutes into the hour that I had paid for, then I had to wait for the area to be sanitized and cleaned. No apology from anyone, no offer of extra time or offer of a partial discount, nothing. Our waitperson Charles was excellent. He was attentive and friendly. Also the helper, Nick was amazing. We ate sliders, flatbreads and wings. The food was great. The bowling was fun. This is not an inexpensive venue and I have seen similar recent complaints about the front staff. I will not be going here again solely based on the lack of welcome and the lanes not being ready. EDIT: I changed my rating to one star after I contacted the manager about the bowling and the front staff. The response was that my party should have been extended by the time we had to wait for the lanes. This was not offered to us by anyone and we did leave at our scheduled ending time as was directed in the confirmation email. In addition he explained that the time doesn't actually start until the lanes are activated. We were not told how to start the lanes even though I asked for them to be turned on. There are no instructions on the lane and what the manager described as self explanatory obviously was not to me or anyone else in my party. Finally we discussed the front staff. He said he would have to review the tapes to be sure that what I was saying was true. I will never go there again. read more

I was very disappointed with our visit to Pinstripes. There were a number of issues that caused us to leave without ordering anything other than an appetizer and drinks. First, on a positive note, we had fun playing Bocce. We have not played for years but it's like riding a bike, it comes back to you quickly. First issue - when we were brought to the court and the server asked if we needed instructions, we did. It had been a long time since we played. No matter how many times we asked him, he faced away from us while explaining the rules. We couldn't hear him. Second issue - the court was not level. Everything skewed to one side when you roll the ball. Third issue - if you read my reviews, you know I have an allergy to milk products. I told the server and asked him to check with the chef about what he could prepare. The server asked what I wanted - I said if I couldn't have anything else, a burger would be okay as long as the bun didn't have milk in it. When he came back to report on what he learned, he told me the bun for the burger had milk in it. I asked and he said he didn't ask the chef about anything else on the menu. Given issue one, he clearly doesn't listen to his customers. We finished our game and went elsewhere. read more

I've been to Pinstripes numerous times throughout the years for bowling, dinner and happy hour. The ambience is nice (especially the bar area) and they have outdoor seating in the summertime with fire pits. The wait staff can be hit or miss though. Their chicken Parmesan and their Italian margarita is very good. They offer happy hour at the bar area from 4pm to 630pm Sunday through Friday. I will definitely be back! read more

It's pretty hard to find a good place to eat at 11 o'clock at night in this area (at least it was for someone from Buffalo), luckily I was able to come across Pinstripes and it saved the night! This place was pretty awesome to walk into. Once you check in at the front desk and get a table, you see the bowling ally and the bocce courts and realize that this is a place you could definitely kill a couple of hours at. We came here after 11 and missed the dinner menu, but luckily this place has a separate late night menu which was full of some solid options. I ended up splitting a margarita pizza with my girlfriend and also ordering a pretzel (I really like pretzels, judge me). The pizza was much better then I expected and I loved the cheese on it. The pretzel was soft and fluffy and just the way I like it. My only issue with the place was the confusion when we first came in. When the server seated us she handed us all menus and then the waiter came and told us we could only order off of the late night menu, which should of been handed to us instead of the full menu. Even with that, the staff was friendly and the food was delicious. If I'm ever in the area again I would love to come and hang out for a few hours because the place seemed really fun. read more

We had brunch yesterday at Pinstripes. We had a party of14 people. We had made a reservation weeks in advance. The brunch was supposed to last until 3 PM. Well, by 2:00 trays were completely empty and two people in our party literally had yogurt in a cup! They did not replenish the trays towards the end. Now I can understand if they didn't take reservations, but they did, so they know how many peoples to expect. For long periods of time. there was no food in any of the trays! I rarely write reviews on experiences, however the experience I and my family had for my birthday weekend dinner was truly abysmal. My wife walked up to the reception desk and stood there for a few seconds before speaking to the the young women present, saying, "Hi, I have a reservation for today at 5:30pm." The young women ended their conversation and the brunette young woman then asked my wife, with a slight attitude,"Okay. Is it for bocce, the restaurant, or bowling?" My wife provided her name and stated we had dinner and bowling reservations. The young brunette woman didn't say anything before she went to a small reception area in the back, so we followed her after a moment. When we got to what we assumed was the restaurant reception area, the woman asked my wife's name again. My wife gave her name and the woman had asked if we wanted the regular restaurant area or the 4 season room, but didn't look up the reservation details which showed that my wife had checked the 4 season room as our dining area. My wife asked her if she could show us the four season room, which the woman pointed and said, "It's through those double doors." Confused, we walked down and checked it out. After being seated, we asked if they could turn on the standing heaters. They weren't able to turn them on the entire time we had dinner. It took our waiter 15 minutes to come to our table (we were the only people in the 4 season room). We ordered drinks and those arrived after another 15 minutes. We placed appetizer and entree orders together since our bowling reservation was at 7:00 pm and it was already 6:10pm. Mind you, the place wasn't busy on Super Bowl Sunday. My wife requested some lemon for her water and it took the waiter 15 minutes to bring that to our table. After the lemon was brought to our table, our food finally made an appearance. It was 6:45-7pm at this point and the appetizers looked like they were sitting under the heat lamp for far too long. The sauce on our wings was caked on and dry and the calamari looked like it was tepid. I didn't taste the peppercorn on my peppercorn crusted rib eye, and the meat was bland and unseasoned. My father ordered spaghetti and meatballs and said that he was surprised at how badly that tasted. We had no one check on us as we ate. No drink refills. Nothing. When the waiter finally came up and asked how we were liking the food, I promptly let him know our dissatisfaction with how the food tasted compared to the price tag. Thankfully, Kimaya Norris, the manager, came to our table and comped the appetizers and our bowling for the evening, but due to the customer service experience we had at dinner, we decided to just cut our losses and leave. Kimaya was exceptional and I wish we had her as the person who was taking care of us the entire time. The waiter, Andrew, did the best he could with what he had but the overall experience (customer service & food) was subpar. Update: it's some time later and my family and I are very sick to our stomachs.. not a good look for Pinstripes. read more

This place has gone downhill. The Monday special of bottomless spaghetti and chop salad is now a joke. First they no longer serve bread and their idea of family style is to bring the salad and spaghetti together. So if you eat the salad, the spaghetti gets cold. And if you eat the spaghetti first, the salad gets warm. Also the serving is terrible, one of our party had iced tea with sugar. It wasn't until we begged for it they brought it. TL;DR - bar service needs an overhaul. Made a quick stop for a Tesla Supercharge (super convenient location for that). Drinks were good, but the bar service is slow and disorganized. Several people coming and going, dishwasher trays sitting out, hard to tell who the actual bartender was. We ordered some food, waited patiently, then asked our bartender about the status - apparently it was burnt and had to be remade? (Or was never put in during the chaotic ordering process?) Note to management - keep your bartenders at the bar. This isn't their fault that the problem we experienced happened (and the bartender was very nice about the situation), the problem is poor management. The bartender shouldn't be poring a drink, then moving high chairs, then running food... honestly, he may have been cleaning the bathroom while our food was burning and/or congealing under the heat lamps. They don't have a sixth sense for when food is ready to go to the bar, figure out your organization. read more

Pinstripes hosted our rehearsal dinner party for my sons upcoming wedding and the did a really great job. We worked with Sara for a couple of months planning things and she was great getting us the information we asked for, and proving prices, and returning our emails very promptly. The event went great, everyone loved all of the food and we had plenty of space. The staff (Charles and Kiki) were on point with any request and always checked in on our party to ensure everything was fine. We highly recommend the venue for an event. Just celebrated a friend's birthday here with bowling! Great time, great food and service (largely thanks to our server Serena)! The front desk and support staff were also great with taking care of my friend and me this past afternoon! It was my friend's first time ever bowling at Pinstripes! We had the whole place to ourselves thanks to it being a Tuesday afternoon; the ambiance was of course, great, plus they were playing a lot of cool disco and Motown hits while we played! Went for Sunday brunch with the family. Good variety of food in the buffet, so there was something for everyone. Food was good, but not great. Service at the front counter was quite slow, and the clerks were inattentive. After brunch we had reservations to play bocce ball. We waited in the bar for our court to open and them to text us when it was ready. I waited until about 5 minutes after our reservation time to check with the counter since we had not gotten a text, but they just hadn't bothered to see if the court was open (it was) or let us know what was going on. After getting on the court, no one came to get any drink orders the entire time. Even better, a family's little girl just walked on to our court and started playing with the game, and the family didn't come to find her - she was maybe 3 years old - for 6-7 minutes. Decent food, but over-priced. Overall pretty poor service, too crowded, and not worth the price. read more

Came here for Brunch during the holidays. Outstanding! Service was very good and the food was great! What we thought was really good: the waffles are excellent! We liked the sauces provided which included the Lemon Ricotta, Blueberry Compote, and Whipped Nutella! All very delicious. Had our annual family reunion this weekend, 18 people in total. Had a private room which was perfect for our size group and the atmosphere was great. Family style dinner included chicken parm. Went here for a family birthday and it was a great experience. At first walking into the reception area had me thinking otherwise as it was a lot of workers just standing around not saying anything as I approached. Then one of the ladies out of the 6 behind the desk just standing there took action. She was extremely polite and easily to deal with to coordinate my group going to the bowling area. The waiter took more than usual time to get to our table and there was not really anyone else in the bowling area at the time it was pretty empty so that was another set back. When the waiter arrived though, he was really personable and made some great recommendations for our group. The food tasted great, and I would recommend any of the burgers they have on the menu.
