Love this sultry little boudoir style salon. It's in a beautiful neighborhood with some of the best views of Seattle. Cute little coffee stand out front. But, I'm most impressed with Madison's instincts with color and talent with cutting. She's yielded consistent results of a far more seasoned Stylist. I have thick, crazy hair and she cuts it exactly the way I want it with out thinning or texturizing it (which you don't do to my hair type-makes it more frizzy ; (...And she's so fun to visit with ; ) I'm happy to drive over to W. I did the Keratin complex smoothing treatment with Alise on July 2018 and payed $400 dollars for it. The stylist said that the treatment should last between 3 to 5 months but for me lasted less than 4 weeks!! I called many times to the salon to receive an answer/solution and they never did anything for me. In total I spend more than $500.00 (I also did a super simple hair cut plus 20% tip) for a service that wasn't good at all! I am really disappointed and I will never go back to this place. I feel that they ripped me off. Do not go to this salon they will still your money! I have done the keratin treatment many times in different salons and it last for months that is why the treatment is expensive because last long time but at Pinup they did it wrong and they don't care about it. I searched high and low to find a salon that would do wedding hair and make-up for 2 brides in an environment that would ease our nerves. Planning a same-sex wedding from out of state, sight unseen, is a bit of a challenge. When I came across Pinup, I knew immediately that this was our kind of salon. We reached out to Jen by email and she set us up with appointments with Lindsey. It's a big ask to have someone do your wedding hair without any real prior conversations about hairstyles or without having the ability to see the kind of hair that Lindsey was going to work with. Apparently she was up for the challenge and did not disappoint. It's safe to say that we are two of the most neurotic, anxious, uptight, potty mouth brides who were definitely feeling the nerves of our big day. Lindsey handled us both fantastically and met all of our needs - both the complicated up dos and natural make up. In addition, about a week before the wedding day, I reached out to Jen once more, because my soon-to-be mother-in-law asked me to find out if they could fit her in for an up do as well. I figured this would be impossible on short notice. However, Jen immediately got back to me and said that if it wasn't possible at Pinup, that she would help us find someone to do it. In the end, she had Shayla come in special to take care of my mother-in-law. For two real plain-jane's that don't do hair or make up, while being totally opinionated about what we should look like on our wedding day, we both walked away thrilled and impressed. I've been to the West Seattle Pinup twice now. Once for a cut and color and again for another cut. Madison did a great job both times. She's a good listener, and really paid attention to what I was looking for, but she wasn't shy about offering her professional expertise. The cuts have worked really well with my straight, fine hair that's thinning--not easy to make it look good, but Madison did it. I made my first appointment with Ronda through Groupon and was very happy with the results. She seemed to understand my hair more than anyone else and also really seemed to listen to what I was looking for in a style. I have curls, but I also like to wear my hair straight and she gave me a great look that let's me wear my hair both ways (and even gave me lots of advice on how to deal with those curls!). The salon is small and intimate, which I personally like (I'm not down with most salons that are more like assembly lines). You really feel like you're the star of the show there. I'm new to town and needed a new stylist. I desperately needed a haircut to fix up some split ends and reshaping of my haircut. I had a special event this Friday and Jen, squeezed me in for a cut, style and make up. . Communication was easy, as I emailed her pictures of my expectations and ideas of hair and make up and what my hair currently looked like. When I showed up she was ready to go with great ideas. Secondly, the whole salon has an amazing vibe. The other stylists were funny and down to earth. The a smaller salon and you feel like all focus is on you. I am incredibly allergic to certain types of make up and shampoos (contact dermatitis and rosacea), and had zero reaction. My style came out perfect. My husband gave me a million compliments. I get my hair and make up done for events or special occasions but this was the first time he genuinely liked it. He said it looked like me, just spruced up a bit. Jen has been cutting my hair for over a year now. In addition, she came out to my wedding venue and did my hair and my bridesmaid's hair. I love Jen! She listens really well to hear what you want. She gives great feedback in terms of what she thinks about your hair relative to the shape of your face, eye color, etc. But ultimately, she gives you what you want, not what she wants. What is really great is that she's not happy unless you're happy, so she works really hard to make sure she's giving you a style that you'll love. My wedding hair was awesome! Jen did a practice session with me where we were able to determine what would work and what would not work given my dress, jewelry and my super slippery hair. I LOVE what she came up with. She came out to our venue (1.5 hours out of Seattle) to give me a beautiful do for my big day. She also did an amazing job working with my wedding party. I had two girls with SUPER curly hair who were very nervous about having a stranger do their hair after having many bad stylist experiences in the past. They were both so excited about what Jen did for them. Neither of them had ever been so pleased with their "event hair". One of the girls even switched over to Jen for her regular haircuts. Madison is AWESOME! After awhile of VERY bad dye jobs from "home jobs", my hair had slowly turned into a gross reddish/brown/black/gray color. I am very frugal which is why I try to do my own and just don't have money to get my color re-done every month or so for maintenance. Madison is awesome and works with you to give you what you want while understanding the need for a budget and helping to come up with a plan for you to stick to a budget and looking great at the same time. Madison ended up alternating beautiful caramel foil highlights with, mocha brown lowlights with an overall wash. Sounds yummy, right?? Well it is!! It looks so natural! The day after I got compliments left and right about my highlights, and over a month later I was still getting compliments!! The salon is incredibly cute, a cozy quaint location that makes you feel like you are in someone's home, and Madison is very friendly and easy to talk to. WOW!!! I mean...wow. Alise made my hair look the best it's ever looked. I am very picky with my coloring and she listened to what I wanted and was so knowledgeable about the product and what to do to accomplish the results I wanted. I did a cut and partial foil with highlights/lowlights. I also recommend getting the Olaplex treatment! The treatment made my formerly dry hair feel so silky smooth afterwards. I just had my first cut with Jenn and I love it. I have short hair and I wanted the impossible: cut my hair, give it more style, but don't take off the length. Make it flirty and edgy and feminine. Somehow she made my hair, which was already pretty short, have style, length and flip. I swear she made it look both longer and shorter, at the same time. I googled salons in West Seattle as I wanted a closer one to my home and there was availability with Brie. I read her reviews and booked her. She added highlights and a haircut. My hair came out fried on the ends, and orange on the top. She only put bleach on it and didn't offer to tone it. I left feeling pleased but once I got home realized that the color and condition of my hair wasn't what I wanted. I was surprised as a new costumer she didn't reach out to see if I was happy. I considered calling her and having it fixed but went back to my previous stylist who also was having issues with my color, but before I left the salon she already made another appointment to fix it as she wasn't happy. Not only that Brie made some insensitive remarks regarding our community that offended me. I understand there are different views but as a professional I think it's unacceptable. I found 'my salon'! i had never settled down with a salon or hair-doer in Seattle in 5 years, until i met Madison at Pin Up. A friend recommended her, and i was impressed to hear it's a ONE-CHAIR salon. No one comes in and stares at you mid-cut when you look like a wet dog, and it's just you and your stylist chatting. The place is tiny and cute, very comfy. i felt at ease. It's in a funky and unusual spot - i like that area, on your way out to Alki, right on the water. The other and biggest reason i went, was because she gave me her advice about a great style for me, and backed up what i wanted. No stylist had ever really done what i had in mind, maybe because i couldn't describe it properly, but i felt i could tell Madison what i wanted, and she knew just what i meant. We totally went for it and i got a great new style that left me feeling like a totally new lady. i needed something dramatic, and always felt shy about asking for it, but i totally got it here! i went from long plain hair to a great short style. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! I never know what I want when I go into a salon & many times I walk out with a crummy cut & not the color I was looking for (I know the problem is me being indecisive) I also have a wonderful husband who finds me attractive when I have a more natural look & I tend to go to the opposite extreme. With all this said.... this place Rocks! Shayla was patient, fun, & hit the nail on the head! I walked in with boring, limp, & lifeless hair. When I walked out I had a bounce in my step loving the style. I got home & was immediately welcomed with a "Honey I love your hair!" (This was sunday) I received a very similar statement the next day. This will be my go to place from here on out! I can't wait to come back again to see more progress. It's been two weeks since I got my hair cut and colored at Pin Up Salon. I wanted to wait before I wrote the review because I left the salon very upset and unhappy with my entire experience. I just washed and styled my hair today and decided that it was time to write my review, because I am still just as upset. First, I had emailed Jen directly to schedule an appointment with her. Which is apparently her preferred method of communication-- according to multiple Yelp reviews and comments she made on Yelp herself. She even provided her email on a comment thread. When I arrived at the salon, the stylist didn't introduce herself and it turns out I had an appointment with someone else and not Jen. At that moment I realized this, I should have walked out the the salon, but I was starting a new job the next day and wanted to treat myself to a haircut and color. The color is great. I love it. That is what the one star is for. The cut... not so much. I had long hair when I walked into the salon and now it is much, much shorter. My hair was in fact, badly damaged when I went in and I was advised that two inches would make it much healthier. I agreed. I really feel strongly that I lost more than two inches. Fortunately I went to a party the previous night where pictures were taken and was able to see where my hair was laying and compare it to where it lays now. My fiance and I literally took a tape measure and determined that it was a good three and a half inches if not 4 inches shorter. I decided that for the time being I would wear my hair mostly straight to make it look a little longer until it grows out. Unfortunately, I cannot do this as my hair is noticeably uneven. The right side is a half an inch shorter than the left side. So I went back to curling it. But I can no longer use my large barrel curling iron because my hair is much shorter, so I went out and purchased another curling iron. (Spent more money.) Also, I left the salon with disgusting hair. The gal ran out of time or knew she gave a bad cut. Either way, she did not completely dry my hair (which is an included service, I asked). So I had to go home and finish drying my own hair. I stood in the mirror crying as I did it. I was so upset. I spent upwards of $150 at this salon. I even bought a product that would help make my hair healthier AND tipped generously (what was I thinking!?). When I emailed Jen to find out why I had an appointment with someone else, she simply explained that they are getting soooooooo much business from Yelp/Groupon deals, that she simply made a mistake. I also voiced my displeasure with the service I received and only got an apology. Oh and she offered to cut my hair next time (no discount), which is tempting because I would love for her to see how uneven my hair is. But I decided to do this salon a favor and go somewhere else. I mean... they have so much business anyway, I doubt I would be missed. read more

This might be the greatest salon on the planet, but I wouldn't know because apparently they don't want my business. I contacted the owner via email inquiring about the cost of bridal hair/makeup. She did respond to me, and gave me a quote, and said I'd need to put half down as a deposit to book the appointment. No problem! About a week later I called the salon and told them I wanted to pay my deposit and book an appointment. The girl on the phone had no idea how to help me, wouldn't take my card number, didn't schedule an appointment, and suggested I again email the owner to arrange payment. I emailed her right away... And again about 2 weeks later... And have still not heard back over a month later. Maybe its just my opinion, but anyone answering phones for your business should either be able to 1) meet the needs of the customer on the phone, or at least be able to 2) put the customer in touch with someone who can help. Telling me to email a person who is never going to email me back is not helpful. I scheduled at Swink instead. read more

Well, I have been coming here for close to two years... and I am still just as happy as the day I started. I, rather religiously, get to see Jen to have her work on my hair. I enjoy so many things about my experience when i come in. Mostly, I enjoy coming out looking pretty much awesome. With very little help on my end and usually a mumble of what I liked or didn't like or what I want done, Jen has turned my wild hair into happy hair. And honestly, what more can you ask for? You can see hear skills shine through in her ability to bring a unique look to my happy head as well as the other people I see coming and going. Now,if you are looking to get a 7.99 cost cutter hair cut, this is not the place. But she is really well priced for the services she offers. She has been patient and kind in helping me get to a place where I am absolutely thrilled with the service I receive. I just went to Pin Up Salon (West Seattle) last Sunday. I absolutely love it! Such a cute space in a nondescript building. The best part is that I seriously got the best haircut ever! This is the haircut that I've tried to get many many times before, yet it has never quite turned out like this one. Its so easy and stylish all at once, something I had given up hope on ever finding. I feel horrible because I can't remember the stylists name, but she's new to Seattle and boy are we lucky to have wooed her west!!! I will definitely be back! I had a little snafu with the eyebrow wax that has never happened to me before but no worries because they made it right in the end. And a bonus? They are open on Sundays!!!!!! I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of service Ronda and Jen provided me at Pinup. I went in about 2 weeks ago to cash in my Groupon and Ronda did my cut and color. It was incredibly easy to talk to her throughout the appointment-- She was fun, great sense of humor, big laugh--really genuine. My idea going in was to just let Ronda do her thing--hand over creative control in the style department. But in this case, while I did make some specifications, I don't think I realized that I actually knew exactly what I wanted. The result was a good hair cut that just didn't quite suit me. I didn't say anything though, I wanted to style it myself, live with it a few days and see how I felt. The color is AMAZING, matches my eyebrows perfectly...I think I've found my winter brown. :D Jen sent me a follow up email to see how my appointment had gone--which I really really appreciate with any service oriented business. I told her Ronda was great, the color was great but I didn't absolutely love the cut. When Ronda called the next day wanting to fix it I was in the midst a major event and was unable to get back to her. Jen emailed me again to ensure I got in to get the cut I wanted and went ahead and scheduled an appointment for me. Round 2 with Ronda was awesome once again. We played around with the cut a little bit. She really listened to the issues I was having with it and added some layers, shortened it up and simplified my bangs. She was totally cool about fixing it and once again a pleasure to spend an hour with. I could also tell once we changed the style that she really understood why the other cut just wasn't quite right. I maintain that it was a really good haircut the first time, but I'm lazy with my hair and the style took a bit more love that I am willing to give. This is a very unique salon. When you make an appointment, you and the stylist will be the only people there! You'll never feel rushed, and you have a say in the music choice, too. The stylist I went to was very knowledgeable. I had a MAJOR hair disaster at the beach (I let a little girl put lemon juice in my strawberry blonde hair, and my hair turned very orange... like Leeloo from Fifth Element hair), and I was going on vacation the next day. They were willing to fit me in for a 3 hour color correction that night. i left looking like a dark-haired vixen. I've returned 3 times, and would recommend to a friend! I have crazy hair. It is half curly, half straight, very fine, but I have TONS of hair. I have been going to Jen for a little over a year and have had everything from highlights, lowlights, full color, perms, and many cuts. I love my hair! I had spent 25years getting bad haircuts, but Jen saved me. She knows my hair, and has even told me no when I told her what I wanted. She really does care about your hair and won't let you blindly turn it into a disaster. She also saved my bf's hair. He has always hated getting his hair cut because it always turns out awful.
