I think Piola is a great change of pace for Brickell. It was easy to get in the few times I have gone and I regularly take advantage of there happy hour pizza specials, which can come out to as much as half off depending on the time you order. There are always a couple hotties there, so people watching is fun and cheap. They make some awesome drinks there with fresh fruit and sake, and the gnocci is to die for. Outstanding pizza, but delivery service is hit or miss. Having lived in Europe I LOVE the topping variety at this place. The fact that I can get a shrimp, olive and corn pizza (don't knock it 'til you've tried it) takes me right back to my days in Vienna. The crusts are also much lighter/thinner than most American style pizza, but not so hard/crusty as the thin-crust you order from places like Pizza Hut, which is nice. I've ordered from them several times, and sometimes they get my pizza here in 30 minutes, but other times it has taken 1.5+ hours, and I live about a 5 minute walk from the location. read more

We hosted a family baby shower at PIola Brickell yesterday. All aspects of the food and service were terrific! Jonas, one of the managers, served as our party liaison. Definitely NOT what it use to be. We were regulars here for 3 years since 2015, we would come 3-4 times a week to have dinner. I never write reviews. But had to comment how happy I was with my order! Never had eaten pizza here and decided to order delivery. Had the margherita, 4 cheese and a pepperoni. The food arrived very quickly for a Saturday night and very warm. The crust was perfect, thin and crispy. Ingredients tasted very fresh. We've been going to Piola forever... originally at Lincoln Road for a pre-going out dinner and now as a spot for great pizza in our neighborhood (Brickell). Their pizza has always made the bad service worth it. But not this time. We went for dinner with another couple and our 3 year old (well behaved) kids. The first thing we were warned about by our waiter was that they did not have have plastic cups or lids for the kids (not "I'm sorry, we've run out.", more like "this is not a restaurant for kids". Ok, comment ignored, our children can handle their glasses just fine. Please brings us all some water and a couple of Peronis. "We are out of Peroni and also Corona" (again, he wasn't sorry about this fact). Fine, we'll take Stellas (came out warm and he didn't offer a chilled glass like we saw other tables get. Our simple order: a couple of salads, a Rio de Janeiro pizza and a Margherita pizza. The Margherita comes out with no basil (it's only ingredient). The waiter walks away before I can ask him. When I finally get to ask him, he again is not apologetic at all. Just says he could bring some on the side if I want it. Um... yes, I wanted it. I wasn't sure if our waiter was just a bad waiter or he was trying to reflect that they do not want families there. But then I looked around and saw 4 other families with kids out on the balcony and 3 inside. My message to management is this: Brickell has become a family neighborhood. And there are plenty of restaurants that are family-friendly, including some great pizza places. If all the tables with families there last night had decided to go somewhere else, you would have had about 4 tables busy. Is that what you want? read more

I'm very upset with Piola at this point. My hubby and I would say we regularly go to Piola for brunch on sunday and have suggest their brunch to many. We are very happy with our service usually and do think the food is good. This weekend both of us were working and could not make it to brunch so decided to order in 2 entrees at 6:18. Around 40 minutes in, I called eat24 and they could not get through to them and just as I was about to cancel the order, they told eat24 that they would get the food over in 30 min. At 8:10pm I called again and they stated that they would have the food over and discounted the food by 20% ( Which is nothing for nearly a 2 hour wait). They then told eat24 that it would be 15 minutes. It is currently 8:31pm and we are still waiting for Piola to deliver. Extremely disappointing, and I would suggest DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. It is highly unprofessional and irresponsible to offer delivery and take over TWO HOURS to deliver half a mile, completely unacceptable. The food JUST ARRIVED at 8:33pm not even warm. They really should discount the whole order... inappropriate. read more

By far the best pizza in Miami. Has an authentic Italian taste and is always hot and fresh. The machu pichu salad is also a great choice if you are looking for a lighter meal. Besides the food, this is the only restaurant I have found in Miami since I moved here a year ago to have consistently, every time, great service. NOT GOOD FOR GROUPS so don't be fooled by the spacious location and not to mention it is ridiculously hot inside so don't forget to bring your own portable electric fan and your own cooler with ice. I am also one of those people that is always cold too. The pizzas are pretty decent but it's too bad the service is terrible! By terrible, I mean I had to constantly get up and get my own water, napkins, silverware, and hunt down my waiter just to order for not only myself but my guests. Thank god I paid for 3 hours of parking on the side street near by because my quick group dinner turned into almost a 4 hour affair due to the terrible service. I want to say I got back to my car at almost 1:00 AM on a week night so it's not like we were even there at the peak dinner rush. Not to mention my waiter forgot just about everything. We made a reservation in advance because we were a large group, and by advance, I mean days in advance. Why on earth the management didn't staff properly for this was perplexing as I have managed a restaurant before. Lucky for the waiter, he still got his auto grat after his abysmal service. As much as I want to blame the waiter, I think the poor management is at fault here and it was obvious from all that I observed. If the staff was so "weeded" then why wasn't management actively jumping into help FOH service because I saw the manager leisurely watching TV at the bar and walking around the restaurant as if this level of service was acceptable. It was obvious that the management does not know how to manage, schedule, staff, and train appropriately or have any respect for its guests time and any sense of urgency. Not all servers have the organizational skills and enough sense of urgency to properly handle a 20 top. Our server was not a strong enough server to handle a 20 top. I was surprised that we did only have 1 server with a 20 top who also had other tables the section. Even the best servers shouldn't have more than 16 guests at once. Doesn't your POS keep track of table times?? Shouldn't your managers be actively checking into the system to see how long tables have been seated? Did I mention that my whole group was also sweating indoors because for whatever reason, they find it appropriate to keep the doors open to the outside in 98 degree weather. I don't care that it is dark out, it's still 98 and humid. Finally, when they closed the doors to the outside with 15 mins left on our dining time, 12:30 AM, it started to cool down. You even saw condensation on the waters the entire time and my dinner guests were using menus as fans. Definitely not dining in ever again at this location but I will still do take out. I think Piola is franchised so to whomever owns location, I hope you are reading this. I'd really like to come back and dine inside once you get this locations act together because your take out isn't as good as the dine in food and it's only a matter of time that I find a substitute with all of the new restaurants coming into Miami. It's sad that the service is truly that terrible because I actually really do enjoy the food here but I'm not about to waste another 4 hours at a sit down dinner when there are plenty of substitutes for Piola Brickell. I could've been in and out of Miami Beach location, caught a movie, and stopped for gelato with time to spare in the time I spent at that group dinner. Unacceptable. read more

Worst experience EVER!!! So today I visited a restaurant next door to Piola and was referred to by the waiter and cashier that if I wanted to wine I can get it next door from Piola and they'll sell it because I'm right next door. Unfortunately for me I'm African American so of course they told me they stopped selling wine to customers that weren't eating there as of last night. This was an ABSOLUTE LIE they stopped selling wine to customers as of the moment we walked in. The fake assistant manager never even realized we weren't trying to even buy a glass we intended on buying bottles but she rejected our business anyways as they weren't even getting any. Eventually the real manager came and when I spoke to him he made it seem as if he understood but he really didn't because he thought offering me and my friends a free glass would make us feel better not realizing her apologizing would have actually been nicer. I declined the free glass because I'm not poor and I could actually afford it and asked for an apology instead but all of a sudden his assistant manager was no where to be found. She was racist and was rude I would never go there again, not even to use the bathroom if it was the only restaurant open on that block. read more

However, I definitely think the wine they give you on ladies night is diluted with water. Outdoor area is nice. Before I start, please excuse my rant on how awful the service was. A few nights ago I went to Piola for the first time in a couple of months and it was probably the last time I go. I used to go frequently with my family but have since moved away from Miami. The restaurant was empty and it was a weekend night. The food really was not impressive at all. All of the antipasti that we ordered consisted of either prosciutto, mozzarella, tomatoes, or salad; all prepackaged things and tough to screw up. As for the pizza, it used to be better. My pizza, as well as a few others at the table, was a little soggy in the middle. There are definitely better pies in Miami. The service was awful and only got worse as the meal went on. We were in a group of 8; a little large, but by no means unbearable. The waitress didn't take the order of two people at the table and had to be called back so we could finish the order. The antipasto of my friend came out just about a minute or two before his pizza came out. His antipasto was simply prosciutto and mozzarella but nonetheless took nearly 20 minutes to prepare. One of the pizzas in our order was never placed while another was the wrong pizza. We were never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee and two people in my party went to the bar to order their coffee. Since the restaurant was empty we continued to talk after we finished our meal. We were not attended to at all and when I asked for a couple of glasses of water we never got them, probably out of spite since we were visibly irritable with the lack of service. This wasn't the first time that I've experienced poor service at Piola but certainly was the last since I will not be returning. Piola has really gone downhill. read more
