The procedure that was done on me had me swollen for days and I spent more money on urgent care that same day since my face was too swollen. Everyone saw my face swelling and just told me its normal. It has been really swollen for almost a week and since I already bought the crown I went back and when I came back, he said he was going to do fillings without telling me first. I was only informed that it was just to put the crown on and they tried to pressure me even though I told them I had to go to work. While I understand that dental offices can be busy, but the tone and attitude used toward me isn't okay. B REALLY IS THE BEST IN THE WEST :) I have always had a fear of the dentist and after having dealt with they-who-not-shall-be-named WD, and ABSOLUTELY HATING that service, I desperately needed a place that actually cared about me and what I felt. Through a friend's recommendation I came here and I literally couldn't believe we finished all my procedures within months! I will not disclose how many of each I needed, but just know I needed at least one root canal, one extraction, one crown and one bridge AND WE FINISHED SO QUICKLY (and without compromising my health, time or fears!) Went to this dentist because my cousin worked here so she referred me to this place i had severe TMJ That's why I went here , the dentist made me get Invisalign and also suggested I got a care credit card . It didn't work for me Invisalign is a scam it hurts really badly please don't get this done . My cousin also told me this place doesn't sanitize how they should . This dentist ended up calling me 2 years later about finishing my Invisalign , they are unprofessional & all over the place & now he doesn't want to give me any of the money back , he said he would give me a retainer for night when I'm still having to pay back the Invisalign they forced me to get . It's because of his loving, caring, respectful, kind and most of all excellent work, he takes pride in his work. Been coming here. I paid for the Invisalign should have looked else where. But this was where my insurance sent me. I was given several appts just to show up and was told dr wasn't there therefore couldn't be seen twice! Second time that happens one of the receptionist claimed she left a vm saying not to come in. I listened to it there didn't say that. I told her that. She said she left the vm with dr isn't here don't come in. I played the vm on speaker for both receptionist to listen. Vm said "it's pioneer dental I just want to make sure (my name) called, give us a call back" nothing about dr not being there or not to go in. But receptionist argued that that was implied when she said call back! Besides that, what was supposed to be an 8 month Invisalign treatment has turn to 2 years treatment because dentist messed up on my trays twice! He gave me the wrong order number on trays and had to re start! I'm just waiting to get done and never come back. The bottom teeth weren't straight. After 2.5 yes of Invisalign I gave up. dr. B seem to only care about the money. After many times that he told me if the new trays didn't work he would try a different alternative like braces. That was a lie. Never did that. Where do I begin! So I came her to get a tooth removed and get an implant. Dr. Binafraud said no get a crown instead we can save the tooth. I said okay cause he told me people just try to get money out of you. Little did I know.. plus he's a dentist I don't doubt people with PhD after this experience and lesson, never again. Not only that he told me I had to remove my wisdom teeth which I was told before wasn't necessary but went with it because he said it could damage the crown I don't know if that's true anymore. But I got them removed and now I'm worried that will cause problems like John S. The other reviewer who I currently share the same nightmare with. Anyway, I came in here last week because I have noticed a fowl odor coming from my mouth. I didn't even think it could be the crown but when I touched the gum and smelled it god it made me nauseous. Called them up told me to come in, tried to tell me there was nothing wrong he tried to blame different areas of my mouth but those areas didn't smell finally he gave in to do an X-ray and saw an infection. He then prescribed some antibiotics 500mg. That was a red flag for me nor did he review the X-ray with me. He also said he couldn't smell a bad odor from my breath even though his staff commented on my breath lol! So He checked my tooth and pulled on it to the point it became loose. When that happend a nasty taste came over my tongue. So I left told me to come back once I was done with the pills. During the car ride home I started to vomit profusely for 5 hours! I went to the ER they had me on observation for Sepsis! I was not happy. I knew something was wrong and he brushed my concerns off. Luckily the doctor said everything looked fine to follow up with my primary ASAP and to find a different dentist for second opinion. Which I did. I found out that the crown was done poorly meaning it's not the right fit there's a gap where the food is getting stuck causing the infection an bad smell so I need a new one which is going to run me 2500 bucks and I already maxed out my credit to get this poor tooth done. So more than likely this tooth will get pulled out. I went back for a refund and he pretty much started being disgruntled with me, raising his voice at me saying if I call care credit he will not reimburse me. He ended up reimbursing me when I gave him my new dentist phone number. I said she is more than happy to speak to care credit about her findings on my poorly done crown. This dude even made fun of me for crying because I knew there was something wrong with the tooth. It took them 3 1/2 hours to this crown. they only reimbursed 600 even though I paid 800. I will be calling carecredit to get the remaining 200 that's owed to me. Another thing that tells me he's full of shit he said "I have problems with my gums that's why it's not fitting properly" I said so it's my gums now if that's so why recommend a crown when I came in here to get them is tooth removed??! He just walked out and said we will reimburse you, leave and don't come back.. I didn't even raise my voice nothing no need because I'm getting my money either way I just wanted to give him the courtesy to the right thing and reimburse me. This whole experience has been a nightmare! I am now going to a good dentist they don't accept Medi-cal but at this point I don't care I rather spend money on a good dentist I'll save more money in the long run. So please do yourself a favor don't come here you're teeth and wallet will thank you! If I could give them negative stars -10 just don't waste your time. I appreciate that this dentist told me all I needed was a filling when another wanted to put a "zirconia" crown and my out of pocket would have been $1,800. That's insanely expensive. And my insurance was going to be charged another $2000. This dentist here at pioneer dental asked me if I wanted metal or ceramic filling. I chose the ceramic and all I paid was $85.00. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ZERO STARS! I had two upper wisdom teeth extracted at age 30. The poor excuse for a surgeon "Dr Alonzo" did the extractions. No bone grafts were done. As a result, 3 years later, the teeth next to the extraction sites began to have issues due to the massive bone loss from the extractions. He put a crown on one. When the temporary crown was put on it surged with pain and I yelled!!! He came running over and numbed it sending me on my way after that. I was in so much pain I couldn't drive. Three days later he did a root canal on it (he doesn't know how to properly do a root canal) which caused the root to break a week later. He pulled the tooth and put a cantilever bridge on it, wrecking the next tooth in line!!! 11 years after my first visit here I have spent over $10,000 having dentists fix his work!!!! Check out the photo of his last remaining piece of work I had removed two days ago. Dr Binafard is a fraud. All he cares about is maxing out his patients' insurance benefits. I heard great things from Dr.Binafard, but unfortunately he has incompetent staff (Amber) working for him. I was scheduled 4 hours before they close since I was a new patient. I got stuck in La traffic and was running 10 minutes behind. Out of courtesy I called to let them know. Amber quickly told me they would be doing X-rays and couldn't guarantee the doctor would be able to do my cleaning. I don't understand why 4 hours before they close they couldn't do a simple cleaning. I had already droven 20 minutes, waited 1 month for this appt and requested the day off. I was very upset that Amber tried to demotivate me from going. She was rude and unprofessional. Horrible first experience. Dr. B and his staff are nothing but fantastic! They take me in last minute, they don't do extra work if it doesn't need to be done. This review is solely on the dentist only. I was a new patient and I waited over 45 minutes to finally get called in. X-ray tech did my x-rays pretty quickly and escorted to me to a room where I waited for the dentist. After a few minutes, Dr. Behzad immediately tells me I need to get my broken tooth extracted. I told him, okay I know it needs to be extracted but it's not bothering me at all. I hate teeth extractions and get really bad anxiety when thinking about it. So I tell the dentist that I'll get it done on the next visit, but he tells me no you need to do it today. I'm thinking, whoa? But it's my first appointment with you and you already want to proceed with an extraction?! After I tell him I'm not prepared, he just shrugs it off and he looked like he was about to walk away. I'm confused so I say, You haven't even looked at my teeth???? What a dentist. I asked why he hasn't examined my teeth and he says, well I've already looked at your x-rays. He then tells me to open up and tapped around my teeth for about 10 seconds. What a disappointment. I should have listened to all the bad reviews. This dentist was smug and seemed to not care about my anxiety and money situation. I told him I wasn't prepared to pay $1800 for a bridge after my tooth gets extracted, he replied and said to just find a cosigner. Even as I was already walking away he blurts out "get that tooth extracted today." WTF??? What a waste of time. You can tell this dentist do not care about his patients - especially new ones. Worst customer service ever! I work in the field and never experienced such unprofessional phone skills. I called on behalf of my mother in law . She had to go here because she was assigned through her insurance and was in terrible pain. They treated her for an emergency service and handed her a treatment plan with a lot of up grades. Since I have experience with dental insurance plans she asked me to help her. I did all the footwork called the insurance got her fee schedule and then called on her behalf because she was in terrible pain. She was in need of a root canal and a build up and crown. I told the receptionist that I looked into the plan and the fee they quoted was way off and we only wanted to do the services necessary and she would pay per visit the copays . The receptionist tone changed when she realized I knew how the insurance worked. She put me on hold several times and even gave me 2 different names and I was clearly speaking to the same person. When she finally acknowledged what I was saying she told me that we could not just change a treatment without the dentist being aware , I told her there was no change to the treatment I just knew the sequence of appointment first comes rootcanal then crown prep then delivery. She insisted it had to be financed up front on full, i then explained to her again that I know all three services wouldn't be complete in one visit and why did we have to pay up front for something that we hadn't received she could not answer me and got very flustered I then told her to please just refer us out to a specialist because if the staff talks this way to patients I can only imagine how the dentist is. If this is who he trust to speak to his patients that check them in business I would think he cares to much but with all fairness I never actually spoke to him. The receptionist then flatly refused to refer us out. She made my mother in law go in to speak to the dentist just to give her a referral knowing she is pain. We have since changed her primary dentist . The irony of this is that they are willing to lose a patient over us not accepting a porcelain margin which has no real Ada code and is already included on a PFM crown. I have a carecredit account of my own and would have gladly paid . I'm so lucky to have found such a great Dentist. He's so far from where I live but totally worth the drive. Driving up to the office, the parking lot is in the back, small alley to get to it. Very easy to miss so once you see the office upstairs the alley is directly underneath it. The staff here are so accommodating and friendly. Very knowledgeable and always smiling. Dr.B is so kind and FAST! He's a great communicator to ensure that you aren't experiencing any discomfort. He talks during his treatments to occupy your mind from all the activity going on. He can fix anything. I've gotten filling, cleaning, crowns repair and root canals. No regrets ever! I kind of get excited to come here because I know my teeth are in trusted hands! I met the dentist, SMH. This guy! Super impersonal, just straight to business, I barely got a a word out to him even tho I had questions about a Invisalign consult, he just jetted out. I am a little surprise over the bad reviews. I have been going to Dr. Binafard for about 2 years. What I like is that if there is a issue with my teeth, he'll take care of it right away. Yes, it will take awhile, but I would rather get it done in one visit then return again, and again. He is always pleasant, as is the staff. I like them and would recommend them. I have had a lot of bad experiences with dentist in the past, I am thankful to found a good dentist. UPDATE: I now know what those who have bad review for Pioneer Dental were talking about. Dr B is great. His front office staff need to go to a "How to treat patients right" class. I could recommend some seminars. His business is going to go down if something doesn't get done. We are no longer with Dr B, not because of him, but because of his staff who were rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. If Dr. B ever reads this, Please look at the negative reviews, they have a point and it is killing your practice. Update to my update: do not go there. Cost us a fortune to repair the mess they made of my husband's teeth. What was done to my poor husband literally amounts to dental malpractice. They capped a tooth with an infection. He complained over and over again and was ignored. We moved out of state, he had to see a specialist to have his tooth treated properly, at the end it was too much damage and it had to be pulled. The infection went all the way to the Bone. Most recent update June 2018: ALL of Dr Binfards work has had to be redone. My husband has literally lost teeth. The out of pocket cost has been through the roof. We have had to see specialist to fix the mess he made. Worst dentist ever! I was young and did not listen to others on here. Boy was that a mistake. I scheduled appointments in order for me to be the first patient and they were Still always late. The disorganization in this place leads me to be surprised that they are able to find the way to the bathroom each day. The waiting room has been packed each time that I have been here so much so that I have started to bring my own chair. All of this could be forgivable if the staff here knew empathy. The receptionists are rude all hours of the day. The dental assistants did not stop during my procedure to assess my pain or crying during wisdom teeth extraction. Maybe a course on bedside manner would be helpful. And then when I tried to leave this awful place they refused to give me info that I was entitled to by HIPPA laws. How disgraceful of them. Good riddance. I could not have left that place faster if there was a fire behind me. read more
