They were so professional, kind, and patient in working with us despite a change in pick-up time to three hours earlier. I regret using A1 for my interstate move (which cost me almost $5000, so not a small expense for the sub par service). First, A1 is Wheaton Movers' agent in Utah. So while a huge part of my experience was with A1, a small part was with Wheaton. Second, I rely on reviews to make important decisions so I've tried to outline my experience in some detail below. I had pored over reviews before making the final decision on whom to use for the move. I started the process early by locking in the movers at the end of June for a September move. After speaking with Kris Middleton, I settled on A1 as he was quick to respond and seemed to be on the ball with his service. Boy was I wrong! After I signed the agreement, reaching him was next to impossible and required me emailing, texting and finally calling multiple times in order to reach him. The receptionist at A1 was never courteous and Kris was never efficient after I signed on with them. Additionally, he never even guided me in the direction of someone who could've been of more assistance. Now, the one positive was he was initially helpful when I needed to be flexible about my move-in date (about a week or so). After signing the initial agreement, I never got any official documentation from them besides a move estimate. I was concerned closer to the date when I hadn't heard anything from them so had to keep trying Kris to get any information. The movers themselves were one of the few bright lights in this process. I wish I still had the document with their names as I would shout them out. I did notice one girl being rough with one of my more fragile items (she threw it when she didn't know I'd come back in the apartment and was watching) but overall they were great! After the movers left, I got nothing from Kris until I finally called the office and asked to speak with Kristen since the people who came to move my stuff recommended her. She was great. Answered all of my questions, gave me the final amount I owed and confirmed when my items would get to me. I paid my amount in full and drove to my new home. A few weeks later when my items got to me the driver said he wouldn't be able to unload my stuff as I STILL OWED MONEY for my move. I explained I had paid in full and would not be paying a penny extra as it had already cost me almost $5000. He finally agreed to unload my stuff and to deal directly with A1. A few weeks later I got a bill from Wheaton Movers for $150 extra that I "owed". I called A1 as I never received a text back from Kris when I explained the issue. The person who answered was helpful, said Wheaton often tried this scam and that they'd handle it and get back to me. They never did. I had to call multiple times and email (due to the rude receptionist) and finally Kristen emailed me confirmation they had sorted out the issue. If you're looking for efficient, consistent service, look elsewhere. This place isn't it. read more

These guys did an outstanding job packing and loading for our out-of-state move. The driver they contracted was also great to work with, he kept things humming in SLC then later managed the crew in Spokane with unloading. A three man crew and the driver were at our house for two full days getting things ready. In that time, it was humbling to see professionals go to work. Their boxes came out the other side looking great. I owe this mostly to the sheet metric tonnage of packing paper used, which, I was assured, was at no-cost to us (though it's gotta factor in somewhere eh?) Furniture and art packing were also top notch. I could go on. Suffice it to say I think we got a really good crew. The office staff were also friendly and proactive. The cheap cardboard backing of a bookshelf was damaged, but other than that everything came through the other side extremely well. read more

Bob stopped by to provide the estimate. He was thorough, transparent, and offered good advice prior to his team showing up. His estimate was concise, pricing transparent, and easy to understand. Crew arrived and introduced themselves in a professional manner. I have lived in 8 states and hired numerous companies. They were the very first company I have hired that not only used door frame protectors, but placed plastic and rubber on all flooring to protect moving out and moving in. They packed the glassware and dishware in a way that not one piece arrived broken or cracked. All furniture was handled with attention and care and assembly of furniture at new place was done well and in a timely fashion. Crew were interactive, receptive, hard working, and friendly. I was quoted for a crew of 4. Only 3 showed up and to their credit, they adjusted the hourly rate accordingly on the final bill. Would recommend A-1 to anyone that has a packing or moving need and will certainly call them again for any future moving needs I have. read more

I have moved 20 times in my life, and after using A1 Pioneer moving, I will never do it without professional help again! These guys were fantastic - polite, careful, efficient, and tireless. They went strong for 8 hours (1 hour lunch break) and did not break or damage anything! I also really appreciated the phone orientation where the business owner (Mr. Bagley) spent about 20 minutes coaching me through the best ways to organize for the move. I never hired movers before, and I wish i had done it this way my whole life. George and Eduardo were rockstars. They worked quickly and carefully and were very considerate. A-1 Pioneer Moving was probably the 8th company I looked at to move my stuff from Provo to San Francisco. They came to my place packed everything in their truck and then had it stored for a month. Then they delivered it to my place, unpacked the truck and placed everything in my apartment. Best part, the price was way lower than I expected! Great service, great price! Highly recommend them. I spoke with a man named Jason, he took the time to explain what we could expect with the whole moving experience. The prices seemed reasonable so we went with A1 Pioneer Moving. Moving day.. The only reason for 1 star is that I cannot give them 0 stars. A1 does not understand the concept of being careful. They are hard workers and move fast with little concern for your belongings. They damaged the bottoms of our couches, tried to move our piano by laying it on it's side (I stopped them) and turned my wife's dresser upside down and used a hand truck to move it before I could stop them. This dresser has a hinged top! Obviously not made to support the weight of the unit! The final straw was when they insisted on pushing my brand new refrigerator through the far too narrow door opening. After I complained for several months, we were told the refrigerator was not worth replacing the door and handle, so we got a check for a $300 for all the damage. The refrigerator cost $2500 (it's the largest home model LG makes!) Run from these people. read more

Hiring this company was the best money I could have spent on my move. I had arranged for storage pods and hired A1 Pioneer to help load everything from my home into the pods. They were available when I needed them and were very accommodating. The team of 3 arrived promptly, explained what they would be doing and then got right to work. They didn't stop working until everything was loaded in. They wrapped my furniture, protected the floors, and really "tetris-ed" (a technical term :) the stuff into the pods to make the most use of the space. We Lived in Liberty Utah.We had to move to Texas for the military.We had our household goods in storage with this company, until we built a house.We then received our first,yes our first load.They said there wasn't enough room on the truck for our things.Then the next load came.We had to find friends to help us un-load.The man came alone.Then we found items missing.We have been doing this for 22 years!Overseas and in the US.If you are missing things, you fill out forms and speak to the company!We had things broken and missing and oil from someone eles items all over our deck chairs! We always clean our stuff,or it doesn't get moved! I have written to the comapny and called.There was no response.We have put it in "JAg" hands.Come on now!A mountain Bike,surley it is somewhere in a corner!I hate thiefs!A collector Poster and tools....anyway!I hope the Air Force stops using your company all together!Everyone was so nice packing it up though.....LOL. read more
