A nice neighborhood park with a playground, grassy area, and some picnic tables. It can get a bit…read morebusy at times and it may be difficult to find a place to sit if you are looking to sit at one of the picnic benches. It is in a residential neighborhood, so it can also get quiet busy with kids at times. We would wait for quiet times when I was growing up and my parents would bring me and my sister here and to the adjacent Rest Lawn to learn to ride our bicycles. I preferred the paved surface of the roads on the Rest Lawn, but I learned to get started and stop on grass (at this park) as that is harder than starting on smooth surfaces. In the long term that worked out because learning to ride my bike on paved surfaces was a lot easier once I got going on grass. We'd make an effort to come during the day when most people were eating or at off hours on the weekends. Now the field in Hickman Park is turf. Be mindful what time of day you visit as the park draws different crowds at different days/times. The playground is temporarily closed due to COVID-19, but the rest of the park is open.

There is a grill, covered shelter area electricity,bathrooms and plenty of picnic tables. Separated enough for privacy but close to play area to watch your kids. The price was fare and we had a great reunion. This would be a good choice for any outdoor family function of 40 or less. The only minus is Parking is a bit limited.

Two guys got out of a black sedan and starting peering into the windows of our car. My husband stopped playing and watched them as he started back towards the car. He was on his phone at that point and they slowly end retreated, but kept their eyes on him, unafraid. They then pulled up to him and slightly rolled their windows down and stared at him while they slinked away. After The Dalewood park shooting, you can't trust some of these Lynnwood parks. Not going back to this one.

When I arrived at Southwest County Park this morning, about 7:40 a.m. on Thursday 18 May 2023,…read morethere were already two cars in the parking area on Olympic View Drive. By the parking area is a main sign with park information and a map of the trail system, which includes an inner and an outer loop, with a marker for where the sign is located "You are here" on the lower left. The sunlight was a little more golden/yellow than normal due to wildfire smoke haze. The air was warm and birds sang throughout out my walk around the outer loop. They flitted from branch to branch and rustled about in the brush on the ground. I encountered juncos, song sparrows, rufous-sided towhees, a rufous hummingbird, and a gray squirrel while walking. Wildflowers were in bloom and salmonberry plants bore both blooms and not yet ripe fruit. For the outer trail, I found the path to be relatively flat and easy to traverse. I paid attention to road positioning as I walked as I could glimpse it through the trees at different points on the trail. It started on my right (I went counterclockwise around the outer loop), so I knew I was nearing full-circle when it switched back to being on my right again. I missed the parking area by one side trail and ended up coming out at the end of the lot instead of the main trailhead. Fun park to enjoy the wilderness.

I lost reception so my phone stopped tracking me accurately, but I got 3 miles or so in with the looping shown below. So, check it out if you are driving by and want a quick dose of greenery. Bottom line: This is not a destination to add to your nature bucket list, but it is worth pulling over for to get some fresh air and a few calories burned if on your way to or from Mel and Mia's.

Only twice in my life have I encountered multiple wild snakes in an approximately 20 minute window…read morewhile hiking. The first time was in Montana while I was conducting geology field work, the snakes that time were rattlesnakes. This time I encountered two garter snakes here at Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary while hiking the Perimeter Trail (South portion of the trail). The first one I heard surprised me because it was right next to the trail. The second one was making noise while traveling through brush on the side of the trail as well. That cutie I managed to get a picture of. The edge of the water in the sanctuary is full of cattails in a number of places. At one woody portion of trail I noticed a gnarly tree by the water and decided to venture closer to check it out. I noticed a Hummingbird high in the tree by some cattails. Just this morning back at the house the hummingbirds were collecting the stuffing from cattails to use for nesting material, fun to encounter another hard working hummingbird the same day in a wetland setting. I made my way closer to the water to get a better look and heard a critter flop into the water, twas a big amphibian I managed to miss with my camera. Song birds sang and water fowl called throughout the duration of my visit here today in the mid-afternoon. A carved wooden sign is located at the driving entrance/exit to the park and is artistically well done, evoking a sense of magic that I have found to accompany wetland and heathland biomes. The parking lot is small to medium in size, but there were a number of open spots so it wasn't a problem on my visit. Next to the parking lot is a restroom building that was closed today, I'm guessing due to COVID-19, a grassy picnic area, a map of the trail system, and some signage with information about the sanctuary. There are two main trails through the sanctuary: the Interpretive Trail which includes interpretive signs, and the Perimeter Trail which goes around the perimeter of the sanctuary. I hiked/walked the southern portion of both of these trails and found them both to be very well maintained. Garbage cans were located along the trail, which was convenient. Elevation gain was not immense, but it was also not completely flat. I encountered a number of soloists and groups out walking/adventuring while I was here this afternoon. By the time I left at about 3 p.m. traffic started picking up. Overall a fun experience and place to explore.

I've been working in Everett for 20ish years and had no idea this place existed. It's not located…read moreanywhere near downtown, but I was very surprised to have never heard of it. A friend recently found it on the all trails app when were seeking out a place for an easyish hike/walk. I was amazed to find this located so close to Boeing, but should probably have realized there is a lot of nature in this area. There is a small parking lot, a big sign marking the entrance and maps/informational plaques to help guide you a long. The inner loop is mostly boardwalk and goes thru a cool rock type structure. Benches were placed intermittently. The outer loop is slightly harder to locate and navigate and does incorporate part of the sidewalk. The combination of both loops is less than 2 miles and takes about 35 minutes. This seems like a great location for a break in nature during your work day. I hope to make it back here again in the future.

92nd Street Park is a fun place to adventure on one's own and with family. I have come here both…read moresolo and with my mom and enjoyed it as much both times. There are two play areas equipped with different play structures, a restroom building, a decent sized parking lot, a large meadow, a pond abutting the meadow, and a trail through some large, tall trees. A trail leads down to the Big Gulch Trail system from the park. On my visits thus far I have encountered various wildlife including squirrels, abundant bullfrogs, bunnies, robins, ducks, and various other birds. My mom is not one for steep cliffs on trails, so we stuck to the park area as the Big Gulch Trail can be steep in places. We love the wildlife and how present they have been when we visited. The ducks especially can get excited and run towards one. Fun to see them waddling quickly. The bullfrogs will also let one get close before jumping in the water or jumping away if getting too close. The rest of the wildlife has been friendly as well.

A nice green space with a parking area off 92nd Street and two separate playgrounds and major…read morebonus, flush toilets. It connects with the Big Gulch trail complex but has its own gentle loops through mature forest filled with ferns and a couple of small ponds. We saw squirrels and bunnies in the grassy areas edging the berry filled woodland. The steep hillside keeps kiddies away from busy Mukilteo Speedway so they can enjoy the age appropriate play equipment and, of course, pick blackberries.

We loved this park and playground! Play structures, a water play area - which seemed to have just…read moreopened for Memorial Day weekend, and fields in which to run. Picnic tables were available for sharing meals and placing our bags/items as we watched the children play, discover, explore. The North Lynnwood Park is a good park. It's spacious, has a playground, basketball court, open…read morefield, a small pavement track/trail around the perimeter, a half dozen benches, and two covered picnic areas that you can rent. There's a lot to like about this park. My two biggest problems with it though are parking and drainage. There are maybe a dozen parking spaces for the park and the parking lot itself is relatively narrow. So what that means is on a nice day there's a good chance that you'll get there and there won't be any parking available and turning around will be problematic. There is residential parking on the backside of the park, but it can be hard to find if you're unfamiliar with the area. You're better off parking at the elementary school down the street and walking over, rather than trying to find the side-street parking. The draining problem is my biggest problem with the park. There is a large grassy field, which is perfect for running around and different "ball" sports; however, the park definitely holds onto all recent moisture for far too long. I've been to the park a number of times 3+ days after it's rained, when temperatures have been well over 70+ degrees and our feet end up getting soaked through our shoes if we spend too much time in the grass - there's also a chance of "slippage" as well if running through it too. The covered picnic areas are spacious, though both are in a "dark" area and look a little bit dirty. Because of the drainage problems, there sometimes are puddles, with what looks like oil (?) deposits in it as well - so we've had to keep children away from those a number of times. The play area is nice - there are two sets of swing sets and a small and large slide. I feel like the play area could be bigger, due to the size of the park and the population of Lynnwood, but it's not bad. There is also a small sprinkler area with a handful of sprinklers for children on a hot day. All-in-all, it's not a bad park to check out, but it definitely has its flaws.
