i dont order anything but cheeseburgers and fries here so i cant speak to the breakfast nor will I. But, the burgers and fries are hands down the best in my opinion. Delicious, mouth watering juicy burgers loaded with grilled onions, fresh lettuce and tomato, avocado. Its all super fresh, super juicy and everywhere i go, all burgers are compared to Pipes. A small surf style cafe in Cardiff located across the street from the Seaside Market. We arrived around 11:00am on Saturday morning. There was a line out the door. I was worried we'd have to take our food to go but there's plenty of tables on their outdoor patio and inside. Mostly catered towards tables of 2 and 4. I couldn't wait in the long line so I hopped over to the coffee bar and grabbed a cup of jo. $1.90 for a kona coffee blend with free refills. For my entree it was a hard decision but I chose the egg salad sandwich on toasted wheat. It came with a bag of chips. You know that saying, if it doesn't get all over the place it doesn't belong in your face. Well after I had my second bite, it got all over the place. The toasted wheat bread was perfectly chewy with a crunch and it was stuffed with tons of egg salad. It made a mess of my shorts but it was so delicious. While the egg salad was not full of seasoning, they must have seasoned the bread because the combo was delicious. I was so pleased with my order and the prices are very reasonable. Would definitely come back for more kona coffee and a egg salad sandwich. read more

A few things I noticed right off. Paper plates and plastic untensils. You stand in line to order and the most of the customers are very young. This place will make you feel old. I felt like I was eating in a college cafeteria. They give you a paper cup and you serve yourself to as much coffee as you want. The breakfast burrito was pretty standard, similiar to what you would find at an average taco shop, but a $1 more. The salsa they serve is incredible, some of the best I have ever had. Pancakes and potatoes were average, nothing special. Overall the prices arent bad and tips are optional. read more

Pipes pipes pipes! This place is super Cali and super cool. Decorated with bright colors and giving off beach vibes, this is hands down the best breakfast in Cardiff. My go to is the Bacon Scramble, but if I'm feeling like something fruity, the Acai bowls are crazy good and filling. It's super casual and easy to bring the kids, but also great for a beach walk stop or for a gossip sesh with the girls. Oh and try early on weekends or sometimes during the week because this place gets packed!! read more

Classic San Diego breakfast spot. Food is good and served quickly. Parking is limited and we have to usually park in the grocery store parking lot across the street. Local surfers all know this place well and it is a favorite hangout spot. The biggest negative from my perspective is that they are cash only...although it doesn't seem to be hurting their business. The brunch here is glorious. Great view, great atmosphere, and plentiful street parking. The burrito was huge and the Orange Juice was super fresh. It's difficult for one person to finish an entire burrito. The perfect place for brunch while in La Jolla, highly recommend it. I will have to revisit when I return to San Diego. read more

Great breakfast here! breakfast burrito was pretty hearty and tasty. Potatoe hash was kind of thick and heavy for my taste but everything was on par for a good hearty breakfast before heading out to the beach. One thing I do remember enjoying was their coffee. Solid coffee with their solid breakfast was more than i can ask for. If you in the area looking for breakfast this is a great place to go. Both were really tasty!! They are big burritos, we thought we were hungry but still couldn't finish them, we could have split and been good. This is the kind of food your mom would slop together on a Sunday morning ( nothing special but just really good) but I don't have a mom in San Diego so I come here! I Make sure I come here every time I'm in SoCal- it is literally one of my favorite restaurants ever. Portions are gigantic and well priced. The pipes potatoes are the must have at this place. I recommend going for lunch or in the early afternoon (they are open until 3) because it's a mad house for breakfast. My husband and I LOVE this place!... Although, we've ordered the saaaame thing pretty much every time we've come here! The #1 burrito is legit... The food is really good! And I love coming here, but I found a piece of hair in my food and when I went to tell them she said that she needed to see the hair. So I went and looked for it but obviously I threw the gross hair out. And when I went back she insisted that that she couldn't make another one without seeing the hair. She treated me like I was a liar and trying to scam them?? Why would I go up with most of my food and ask for another one? After over 16 years of coming to Pipes we are saying goodbye. As locals from the area we always enjoyed the location, prices and food and customer service. All has gone downhill over the last 5 years but, we kept hoping it may change. However, the high prices are not worthy of the poor quality food and smaller portions and I can do without bad vibes anyday. Today we went during a late lunch when normally we do early breakfast. It was 2:10 when we arrived, they were mopping inside so, I confirmed tHEy were open and the cashier said they close at 3. It was chilly so we sat inside. She said they just cleaned inside so she asked if we could sit outside . I said it was chilly so we prefer inside. Later she came back to my table and said it was a liability and we had to sit outside because of the wet floors. I'm not at all happy when restaurants close early and make it as if you are inconveniencing them. So, outside we went. Then we were served our meal which arrived with rock hard avocado and unripe tomatoes.Final straw. No longer our go to . The only thing that is awesome is the location and there's s plenty of other good places around with awesome views. We may just One couple but, all of our recommendations to visitors will no longer include pipes and no longer will we bring all of our out of town guest here. read more
