    Bacon omelette
    michelle y.

    Cute little diner very close to the ocean in Solana Beach. We went at 10:30 on a Sunday and if you didn't have a reservation, you could not sit outside. But they were able to get us sat immediately, which was nice. Booth are nice and large and it's got a very clean decor. Our server was very nice and came over to take our orders in an acceptable amount of time. My husband ordered the turkey club, I ordered the chicken with goat cheese, my daughter ordered the make your own pancakes, and my son had the Belgian waffle It took a little bit for our meal to come out, but it was a busy day Hubbies lunch was good. Massive pieces of bread though like you could barely get your mouth around it. They're at least an inch thick. Bacon was very, very tasty. Belgian waffle was fine. I thought it was a little bit dry. Came with a homemade whipped cream that was almost like a melted ice cream. It wasn't a light and fluffy whipped cream. But he liked the taste and gobbled it all down. $15 My daughter got them make your own pancakes. She put chocolate chip chips, bananas, and whipped cream. They put her whipped cream on top and it was OK. They just sprinkled chocolate chips around instead of putting them in the pancake which she didn't really like. Again thought the batter was dry. $16. I got the chicken sandwich on ciabatta with a goat cheese spread. The chicken was very, very thin like they cut one breast into three. It was still juicy and nicely marinated. My problem was the spread. First of all, there was almost none of it on there and an entire head of lettuce. I ordered a side of it because I couldn't barely find it on the Bread. But then I took a bite and it tasted funny. So I bet again and I was sure it was olives. I waved down the server to ask if there were olives in the goat cheese. He had to go confirm, but yes, there were. The entire thing was studded with chopped up black olives. Maybe not black maybe purple. Either way they were terrible and it didn't mention that anymore on the menu. I hate olives. There was zero flavor of goat cheese in that. So I asked if I could just have some plain bread and I would transfer my chicken over. He ended up taking my sandwich back and I guess they remade the whole thing. Which was nice but it also took about 25 minutes and everyone was done and ready to leave and I still hadn't gotten my meal. Once I got my meal and was eating the guy assisting the server came by a couple times trying to box mine up because I still had a lot of on my plate. Then it was very hard to find our server to get the bill. We saw other servers walked by just not ours. By this point, my kids were super antsy wanting to leave. Finally got our bill and down in the fine print. There's a two dollar service charge if you use a credit card. I don't know. I'm just annoyed by that kind of a thing. Our bill was $72 or thereabouts. Food was fine. Our server was really nice. But man, these prices down here are out of control. Also, if you're gonna put something as potent as olives in a dish that should not have olives, I feel like that should be mentioned in the description of the food

    One word.... Delicious! Cute little breakfast in Solana beach! The food was so so good, and so was the service. The food came out very fast (which was SO awesome) because my friends and I had just done a hike so we were starving. Charlie was our waiter, and he was great! Very nice and was accommodating to all our requests. Thank you Sunny Side, for making our visit memorable:) will definitely be back!

    Our family loves coming here when we are on a staycation. Service is always friendly. We have tried a variety of food and have enjoyed it. There's free parking in the back and street parking in the front. This place is known for their breakfast but their other items are just as good. We recently found out the Chicken Fettuccine Al Pesto is the owners Italian mother's recipe. My youngest son enjoys getting this dish. My favorite breakfast dishes are the chicken and waffle, country fried steak and french toasts. They perfectly bread the chicken and the homemade country gravy it adds that extra goodness to the meal. I also love their fresh-pressed juices, and I usually request a plantation iced tea -- iced tea mixed with pineapple juice. So refreshing! The decor is adorable too. It has a cozy farmhouse café vibe that makes the whole place feel warm and inviting. And the bread pudding from Sunny Side is definitely worth mentioning. I usually don't like bread pudding, but this is far from ordinary. It's made with croissants and chocolate, drizzled with chocolate sauce, dusted with powdered sugar, served with raspberries, and strawberries. You have to add the ice cream...cause why not? Absolutely indulgent and perfect for sharing. Totally worth those extra calories! Overall, we'll definitely keep dining here. Great service, delicious food, and so many good family memories every time we visit!

    Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

    I ordered the Solana Omelette. For having chorizo in the meal, I felt like it was lacking flavor. I feel like combination of the omelette didn't go very well together. The mozzarella cheese was a bit dry, for something I wanted more wet. The eggs in an omelette are already generally dry, so It would need something to wet it. I had dipped my omelette in ketchup + tapatio to help with it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. The onions mixed in with the potatoes were delicious. The potatoes were well seasoned. Everyone else seemed to really like their food though! Next time I would try the freshly squeezed orange juice as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Both seating options are so incredible cute. I love the green theme going on throughout the restaurant. Our server was kind to us and made sure we had everything we needed! We never had an empty water bottle since we would replace our big ones. I didn't see a designated parking lot for this place, but there is street parking in front of it. {08/04/26 ~ 11:30AM}

    My friends went for a group birthday brunch and it was very good. We sat outside and it was comfortable with a heater. There were a variety of meals ordered at our table from pancakes, burrito, scrambles and burger. Everyone was happy with their food. I was excited that they still had the delicious vegan scramble bowl that I got last time I came. It was really impressive. The waitress handled the group calmly and efficiently. The only thing that was lacking was the matcha. I wanted chai but it wasn't available so I chose a matcha latte and it was not very much matcha flavor in my opinion.

    I would drive all the way from Chula Vista for a meal here again! We were in the area for an errand, found this restaurant on Yelp and it was amazing. Street parking and a parking lot behind the restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. Customer service was good. The banana pineapple French toast was top 3 best French toast I've ever had in my life. Banana and pineapple, never had that combo on French toast before but it was delicious. The bacon was cooked to perfection. The homemade strawberry jam that comes with the toast is DELICIOUS. I wanted to buy some to take home but $8 for the smallest jar was too steep for me. But I look forward to my next visit so I can enjoy all of these things again. I knocked off a star because the fresh squeezed OJ was not filled anywhere close to the top of the glass and was served with ice, so it forced us to drink it fast to prevent it from being watered down. The Arnold Palmer had a great flavor but contained way too much ice. I don't like how they flip their water cups upside down so the rims of the glasses are touching the tables. Yes, they clean/sanitize the tables but I've worked in many restaurants and just don't trust it. But our server was nice and grabbed us new glasses upon our request. Overall, a great dining experience and I can't wait to be back!

    After a hike at Annie's Canyon Trail nearby, my friends, and I stopped by to replenish our energy. I ordered the turkey club sandwich that came with extra crispy French fries. The sandwich was huge and delicious! One of my friends got the vegetable and cheese omelette. I had a bite and thought it was also very delicious! The mint lemonade was very minty and refreshing! We loved the food here and would highly recommend the dishes that we ordered! Our server, Julia, took excellent care of us. We were seated in the outdoor patio and she was very quick to take our orders. Our beverages and food came out faster than we thought, which was great! Friendly service, great value for the huge portions, and fresh & tasty ingredients! Definitely worth a repeat visit!

    Eggs Benedict, scramble, omelet, breakfast burrito, banana hazelnut pancakes.

    The food was delicious! We ordered the breakfast burrito, breakfast bowl, sailor man, and banana Nutella pancakes (these could have used a side small bowl of Nutella for dipping). Also ordered the fresh OJ and iced lattes. Service was super friendly and efficient. Ambiance was so nice sitting outside with the beautiful wall of succulent plants. Pricing was an average of $17 per person. Definitely will return!

    FYI when you order the fresh squeezed OJ it comes 3/4 full.

    This place goes up and down in my book. First time we came the service and food was great. The last few times tho something was off: - The fresh squeezed orange juice ALWAYS comes 3/4 full (see the pic). - There are flies flying around the entrance door. Beware they landed on our plates, so maybe ask to sit away from the door. - They let big dogs on the front patio next to the entrance door. Of course with my luck, this dog starts shaking its fur and wagging its tail and ya fur flew all over the place and on my plate. Between the fly and fur fiasco, we're taking a break from this spot. -- And to the owners response below: We did find another restaurant with no flies or friendly dog hair in our food **besitos** ;)

I sat there patiently, and the female employee came to the register to take my order after a while. I ordered my burrito... we had a choice of bacon or chorizo at the included price. Carne assda was three dollars extra or if I wanted all three meats it was five dollars extra. I probably should've not done this, but I paid for all three. I walked around while I waited. After seeing everything in the entire place, I took a seat near the Pick-up counter. While I was waiting there, the guy who was cooking was complaining about so many things. The one thing that really was upsetting is he said something along the lines of "people have to wait for their food anyways." this guy is angry and bitter, and does not like his job. The wait was oddly long I was tempted to ask them to cancel my order but I waited. The Third employee handing me my food with a smile in a box no bag no napkins no nothing. I guess those were self served, but would've been nice if he had said something because I got home and didn't have napkins or anything. The icing on the cake is paid for three meat definitely there's no bacon in here and I think I found one piece of Carne Asada so I paid five dollars extra basically for a chorizo burrito . There's hardly anything inside of it. I taste more tortilla than the inside. This was the most disappointing burrito. I think I've ever had in my life. I should've gone to the taco shop and gotten a much better burrito. Shame on you, Ranch 45. I don't have the energy to call you or go back and why waste my time and money coming back to complain. Our last visit also took a ridiculous amount of time for one pastrami sandwich. I was waiting in the car while my husband went in. Sad to say I doubt I'll be back here ever again. Step up your Customer Service step up the execution of your beef. Stellar quality meat is not enough. You need to execute and have staff that isn't complaining with an earshot of the customers.

Our waitress made a mistake and put in the wrong omelet for us, so ended up with the Santa Fe, which was...OK. I guess they bake it, so it tasted a bit dry and it definitely needed more seasoning. The hash browns had the same problem. Our daughter got the chocolate chip pancakes and she loved them, but we found them to be pretty average. Their showcase dish--the baked apple pancake--was definitely spectacular when it came out on the plate, but the actual eating experience was only so-so. The crispier parts on the outside were really good if you ate them with some maple syrup, but the rest was a bit mushy and the whole thing was shockingly sweet. We had a very pleasant morning here, the staff is nice, and apparently the business is family owned, so we wish them well. We're happy to have tried it, but it's not like we would full-throatedly recommend the place. Three stars with no ill will.

But today I needed a little extra je ne sais quoi because my morning was annoying, so I decided to splurge on lunch and not just a pastry here. I asked Steve, the (très beau et gentille!) co-owner what the quiche of the day was. There were two: one with jambon (ham) and one with épinards et fromage de chèvre (spinach and goat cheese). When I hesitated, he told me that the spinach one was amazing. Even though it's $20 for a quiche plate, I decided to go for it. I thought I was going to get a sad little quiche slice for that amount and might regret it. But OMG, it was more than worth it! Already they have a lovely patio on this pretty street in this fancy design district. But it was also a HUGE and exceptionally savory rectangular slice, alongside a DELECTEABLE petite salade. I asked Steve what mustard they use in the vinaigrette, and he said plain old Dijon - but the proportions and the seasoning were EXCELLENT. So it was salad perfection, not heavily dressed at all, just delightful. The patio was full on a Friday with ladies who lunch - but did that include me, as a solo diner, since I am a lady who had lunch? I'm not sure, but you can feel comfortable here no matter what. And now I know Madeleine Cafe is much too good to just come for coffee and for ordering in French from Steve or his co-owner Emmanuel. I don't want to spend that much for lunch every day - but I'll be back!
