Our guide, Kiera, was fantastic -- knowledgeable, relaxed, encouraging, and clearly wonderful with both people and horses. The scenery was breathtaking, and the ride felt like a real adventure rather than just following a trail in a line. We crossed a beautiful river twice, rode through gorgeous mountain terrain, and truly got to experience the landscape. My horse, Buckwheat, was such a character and made the ride even more fun. We especially appreciated that the ride felt personal, peaceful, and authentic. You can tell the horses are well cared for and that the guides genuinely love what they do. Our daughter had the most wonderful experience at Farm and Pony camp. It was a perfect blend of special time with the farm animals (holding baby bunnies! walking goats!), learning to care for the animals (branding manes and tails, picking horseshoes, touring the stables), crafts, and pony rides. And I was blown away by the pony show on Friday morning! The counselors were so caring and great with the kids and 4-H values and true equestrian skills are evident in all the kids learn in a short 5 days. I cannot say enough what a gem this place is. Only one exit down the road from downtown Truckee but a world away and we could pick her up at lunch and still have a family afternoon together. We felt so lucky that we found out about this camp. This place is just great! I've reviewed it a few times before, and I continue to be more and more impressed. The horses are great, and their always-impressive staff match us with the right horse, and then they lead us on wonderful rides. Safety is always a first concern, and the wranglers connect with the riders from start to finish. Lisa, the owner, manages the entire operation, and it really shows. Recently, we've had most contact with Stephanie, but also Kiara--they are both impressive. We've done quite a few private rides with Stephanie, and we have learned so much from her. Our trail ride with Piping Rock was amazing! We were staying near South Lake Tahoe where there are nearby stables, but they were nose to tail horse rides. Our party of four did not want to just sit on a horse that followed the horse in front of it. So we drove an hour and a half to Piping Rock and it was so worth the extra drive. Though our party had minimal riding experience, we were able to direct and control our own horses. Plus, the Prosser Creek scenery was gorgeous and crossing the creek on the horses was absolutely thrilling! Moreover, our guide was John and he was awesome! He was so friendly, patient, and knowledgeable, and he accommodated our every request. More importantly, he kept us safe and sound. Our experience with John was so positive, we felt like he was a member of our family! Lastly, the horses were so beautiful, well trained, well maintained, and so easy to ride. I definitely recommend Piping Rock Equestrian Center and John for anyone who wants a fantastic horse back riding experience! read more

Love to ride horse back here! Lisa the owner is so kind and passionate about her business and she has wonderful staff as well! My niece and I ride here every summer and really enjoy the 1.5hr creek trail ride. It's a beautiful ride through the local trees, down some adventurous slopes, and across Prosser Creek - then around and back again! It's a super enjoyable serene ride - I recommended grabbing the first AM ride at 9am! The guides are friendly and attentive to your comfort on the horses. This year's visit, I brought my little kid nieces as well - and enjoyed some pony rides after I completed my creek ride! They also enjoyed the little "petting zoo" onsite, petting the bunnies and goats! Parking is easy, they have a big lot when you pull into the entrance. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. My 12 year old is in the Extreme Horse Camp and I just finished the Adult Camp. After her first day she said, "that was the best day of my life." Jarrod is a great instructor and takes them on long trail rides, does arena work and has them do chores. They even swam with the horses! My camp was run by Samantha who is a wonderful teacher. My 10 year old and almost 6 year old just finished a week of horse camp and LOVED it. It was their third summer doing a week at Piping Rock. Their confidence around the horses has grown immensely. The foundation they learn at piping rock is second to none and their skill is improved upon daily. They run into camp and are all smiles at pickup. The end of week showing to parents proves how far they have come. My younger one has been fearful of dogs but was brave playing with bunnies, goats, chickens, donkeys and now horses which is helping her with her nervousness around dogs. They have fallen in love with horse riding and are already planning their week next summer! In addition to camps , they offer trail rides and various lessons. We didn't reserve anything going to Tahoe. I called the number to see if there was any availability after checking other places, and got lucky (due to a cancellation). I totally appreciated the text messages I got from the owner. She is superb! The experience was great! The customer service was great! The location was beautiful. The only things I need to mention are: - our guide didn't give all of us in our group the orientation. She gave my daughter lots of pointers but not the three remaining including me. This is very crucial especially to those who never had experience with horses. - the trail is through some rocky paths so I don't personally consider it easy or for beginners. It is more for like second or third timers. I don't have lots of pictures since we didn't take pictures during our tour. read more

What a great day! My husband set up a trail ride for us. He spoke with Lisa a couple of times and everything was perfect and ready when we got there. Our trail wrangler guide was Jared. What a great guy! He was funny, pointed things out, taught us things we didn't know, made sure we were safe and comfortable, told us some great stories! The time flew by. I rode bubba. Jared told me, Bubba has never made a mistake, he was just a perfect horse and that indeed was true! He took us on the Prosser Creek Trail we crossed the creek a couple of times, he stopped and took some photos for a keepsake. My husband rode Bjorn. Jared told us a really great story about Bjorn. I won't tell you in hopes you get to hear at some point! We chatted with Ed who was also a great guy. The saying, do what you love and you'll never work a day, is so true where Jared is concerned! I hope to take another ride with our grandson when he is an old enough to ride, and will absolutely ask for Jared as our guide! Words cannot describe the absolute dream of an adventure this was! I took my girls to Piping Rock as an event for my bachelorette party. LISA was an angel from booking to ride time :D When we arrived, she made sure that my whole group was comfortable in the environment. She even partnered my more nervous friends with calmer/slower horses so they'd feel the most safe. All of the horses were gorgeous, very well behaved and the saddles were super comfortable!
