Pirate Island Golf is the only mini golf located in Ocean City that is not located on the Boardwalk, that probably is a good thing. We were literally driving on the way to the boardwalk, saw this place and decided to stop and play a quick 18 holes. Of all the mini golf we played in Ocean City this might be one of the best if not the best option. I guess it would come down to if you like you mini golf more kitschy or not. The theming for this location is oddly pirate themed, I would have never guessed it from the name. They have some nice skull stone work that makes a great selfie background and a nice pirate ship that has the 18th hole on it. They also have some massive waterfalls going on here. What I liked most about this place was their use of space, they did not have much land to work with but they used it well, the holes have variety and make good use of the indoor and outdoor holes as well as the second story holes. The 14th hole was my favorite, I wish more places would have a hole like that, it was very well thought out with the elevation drop and the running water. The course was pretty easy so kids should like it was well. I also like that because it is not on the boardwalk it is easy to come over and play instead of dealing all the people and traffic the other mini golf courses have. It is also easy to find, it is located right off the main bridge to the Island. If you do drive bring a quarter for the meter, the parking lot here is supper small. Overall a really good course that you should play if you are in the area. It is also very family friendly skill level.

Signage with in season times yet sometimes at 9am they're not necessarily open.

Yet another mini-golf course from the same people who brought you Congo Falls. What that means of course is excellent theming, overall easy holes and very high prices. Initially our first crack at playing here on Friday the 12th was a no-go as we showed up a little before 9:30am and even though their sign says they open at nine everything was still closed up and no one was there. Fast forward a day and we tried again closer to Noon and this time they were open so things were fine. Price wise you're looking at around nine dollars a person (I forget how much exactly?) and while I would like to say that it's worth it I really would be hard pressed to because to be honest most of the holes, while not gimmies like over at Tee-Time, are only simple par 2 types that can be more than tackled by a seven year old. Even by the time we left no one was playing so the round was fast and while alright nothing was memorable. At the end they have the usual ice cream stuff that we passed on and also there is the ability to win a free game by dropping your ball into a small Plinko style thing and hoping that your ball bounces into the correct hole (none of ours did, boo!). Also worth noting is that they more or less offer no parking here as the "lot" has maybe four spaces and then you're looking at metered parking only on the street. No doubt we'll be back in town in the future and while Pirate Island is the first course you see on 9th, I doubt we'll be back anytime soon as the holes are too easy, the parking is too tough and the prices are way too high plus not being open when you say that you're going to be open is annoying.

It's Sunday at pirate island. Final grouping. Me, cousin tony from Kearny, and my other cousin Orville from Pomona. I have a three shot lead heading into the final hole. The hole locations were super tough and the greens were rolling like glass. I recommended the grounds crew to water them down a little bit before the round but they were too "short staffed" to do so. And what also ruffled my feathers is that they don't have pro V's or Scotty camrons to putt with. But hey I did win the tourney and got a free game out of it!

Pleasant and polite staff! They took a picture of my husband and I and chit chatted after we were finished. The course is VERY clean and well-mannered! The holes have lots of water traps, slopes, and trick shots. This place is well worth the money, and the best spot I've played in Ocean City, NJ thus far. It features a few animatronic skeletons that tell family-friendly jokes. A smallicecreambar with picnictableseating is at the exit. You can drop your balls to wina free game, but if you're as unlucky like I was you'll still get a coupon for BOGO water ice, which was only $2.50 for a small and super tasty!

Really hard to get a hole in one. No real place for a big group to wait between holes. It was an average down the shore mini golf course.

This is my favorite mini golf not on the boardwalk. Also it has ice cream when you finish playing.

I really liked this course a lot. It was more skill based which was fun with my kiddos who are older!

Let's bring this one up to the current…read more What's still good about this course is that they provide the obvious niche of being the only OC course that is indoors. Great in summer when it's 110 in the shade, raining cats and dogs or the boardwalk could have a February glaze of snow on it and...they're still open. The one pseudo-negative is like many others have mentioned, if you go in season when there are a lot of people playing, the holes in the black light room are stacked on top of each other and it always feels like you're in somebodies way or someone is in your way. There are many places you could get your putt-putt on in OCNJ and to me Haunted is somewhere in the upper-middle of the pack. It's nowhere near the worst (Goofy Golf) but also nowhere near the best (Tee-Time). Is it different? Of course, indoor with black lights always will be. Is the course "scary"? No. Is the course hard? No. Is it what you would expect from an OCNJ cheesy putt-putt course? You bet.

My younger grandchild did not want to play golf, I think she was a little frightened. But my other grandson and I were going to play a round. I had to pay full price with the younger grandchild who did not play. This place is already more expensive than the other mini golf courses on the boardwalk. I really thought this was very poor idea to charge a non-plane a child. On a good side, it's a nice golf course to play. And it is air condition.

With that said, we had never played OC Adventure Golf prior to last week. Why play this course now? Well, simply because it was the only course on the boardwalk that was open on a Wednesday night after Labor Day. I will mention as a sidebar that we had tried to play here either once or twice in the past and each time their CC terminal was down/broken so that put the kibosh on that. The layout of the course is bizarre. It is essentially laid out in two parts. The first few holes and the last few holes are close to the boardwalk but the middle nine are pushed back by themselves going in/out of a series of quasi-caves via a long walkway which you need to take to reach them. Adding to the interesting layout is that you are next door to the OC Waterpark and several of the their slides/lazy river are all around you while you play the middle nine. Plus just for some added fun the holes are also spread out over two levels. In terms of difficulty this one is in the middle. None of this is cupcake easy like at Tee-Time where multiple holes in one are guaranteed but it's not break your stones hard either. Call it at best "mildly challenging". For true putt-putt street cred there is a free game hole at the end but it's a real SOB as you need to hit up an incline and across a small narrow strip of carpet that tilts ever so slightly right and into a small hole. In other words, good F-ing luck. For $6 per person it was a decent value and an overall fun course that I'm pretty sure we'll play again. (If you're looking for more info about the course, good luck. The webpage is a joke and nothing regarding prices, hours or pictures. ocwaterpark.com/Adventure-Golf)
