Family owned treasure on the north end of Brigantine Island! I have enjoyed many meals my favorites include stuffed French toast for breakfast, with side of scrapple ! My lunch favorite would be the Brig burger fresh blue cheese roasted peppers on a panini! Or the Sandra salad topped with grilled salmon! Dinner of course the French Fried Lobster tail! Apps ! Crab imperial stuffed clam Casino. So many fabulous options to choose from it makes you want to come back and try something new !! read more

A good friend recommended this brunch place to us, especially with the long wait at Shea's Cafe in Galloway on the weekends, we opted for Pirate's Den. It is quite a trek out to Brigantine, but on an April morning, with the sun out, and cool ocean breeze, it was perfect and worth it. Also, the vacationers are not yet at their shore houses, so there was no wait for a table. I ordered the Maine Lobster Eggs Benedict and it was amazing! I love Maine Lobster, which tasted fresh and flavorful. I was also nervous about the hollandaise sauce because I had forgotten to ask for it on the side since most is very heavy and creamy, but their hollandaise sauce was light and just right. It was not greasy, and it is probably the best egg benedict I've ever had. The BF made his own omelet with eggs, spinach, cheese, and hot sausage. He didn't feel it was anything great, just your average omelet. Also, the home fries were a bit plain, and you would need a lot of salt and pepper to get some flavor to them. He did enjoy their coffee. We also got a short stack of pancakes which was decent, and fluffy. They serve it with packaged Kraft syrup, eh. Prices are average. Service was a little slow. Overall if you're looking for a great Eggs Benedict, this is your place!! read more

I ordered the flounder franchise and it was the bet I've ever had (meaning a lot growing up at the shore). Tasted like they caught it today. My co-worker and I stopped in on a Monday morning before our drive home to Boston. We felt quite young as the other patrons that morning were predominately 60+. Very creative menu. I had the stuffed french toast and a side of sausage with OJ. The menu said the french toast was stuffed with raspberries, but it was really just raspberry sauce. Regardless, it was delicious. My co-worker has many food allergies and the waitress seemed visibly annoyed with all his questions about what was in the food. That's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. read more

Me and my boyfriend were down for the weekend, and we were hungry and just wanted to pick up something close by, the menu looked good so we ordered, mainly apps. Got wings, quesadilla, fries, mozzarella sticks. Was expecting pretty good food. IT WASNT..... i've never seen someone put salsa drenched on top of my quesadilla, it was soggy and tasted horrible, they should put that they put salsa on the top. My boyfriend has a stomach ache the whole weekend and was afraid to eat anywhere else after that. I never ever leave bad reviews or any at all. But i am so disappointed. I will not order from there again! Our stomachs still hurt and we got that food on Friday night!!!!!!!! My experience there sucked, and those were just appetizers, can't imagine if we actually got dinner dishes. Hopefully others will have a better experience then I did. Been to this restaurant many times over the years, mainly for breakfast. Was here about a month ago for dinner. During that visit my food was ok, nothing special, but no complaint about the quality of the food. Our server however, quite rude, and not in a cute or funny way. Especially & blatantly rude to my elderly grandfather which was odd to me as she was quite elderly herself, but that's not what this review is about. Tonight when my family went to the Pirate's Den we were promptly seated & that was it. Other parties were seated, orders taken, food coming out. No one ever came to take our order. My Wife and I stopped in this nice town of Brigantine as we were leaving Atlantic City, and stopped at the Pirate's Den Restaurant for a Sunday morning breakfast. Amazing. I had the BLT Omelet (Bacon, Lobster, Tomato), it was INCREDIBLE! I thought about that Omelet all day. My wife had the Hueovs Rancheros Omelet, and was just as impressed as I was. On our next trip to Atlantic City, or anywhere in that area, we will certainly be making a stop at The Pirates Den! read more

I can see why many think this is a wonderful place to eat but I just think it's because there are few other places in the area. Brigantine only has like 3 or 4 total places to eat breakfast anymore, period. So when you live in the shadow of Atlantic City and you haven't got much greatness you tend to elevate something mediocre as good enough. Anyway, I'm not saying Pirates Den is mediocre... it's somewhat better than that, but it doesn't compare to other much better dining experiences along the coastal Jerz shore. I won't knock the food, because it is pretty decent, but I will knock the lack of space between tables between you and your annoying neighbors. If you happen to sit next to someone with disgusting smoker breath, too bad, you're going to smell them the whole time. Pirates Den is also pretty crowded, which means it's loud. Don't bring your drama in here because all your table neighbors will hear it. I do like the prices. This place dishes it about as cheap as it gets. Yeah I'd go back I guess. If you like parking your car a half mile away and trekking through a casino at 10 AM to slide into your breakfast booth on a Sunday...this place may not be for you. But, if you want to feel like you're actually at a quintessential breakfast joint by the sea...this place works. For 15 years, when I need to escape the concrete cold and grittiness that is AC - I take a quick drive over the Brigantine Bridge, just past Borgata and Harrah's - to Brigantine Island. Drive north, to the end of the road, to the dead end with The Boardwalk and spraying ocean across the street. Look for a bunch of cars at any time of day, and you've found Pirate's Den. Look beyond the kitschy tacky interior, the somewhat worn down exterior, and you'll have an authentic beach front breakfast experience. Solid food, pleasant efficient service. Well worth the drive from AC. Breakfast is breakfast, and this is what most of us want for the post-hangover alcohol absorption point of view. read more

This just might be the last time we come here. We have been coming here for the last 15 year but every time we have come this year has been a problem. We we arrived at the restaurant today we were told the wait would be 15-20 minutes. It's been 1 hour and 5 minutes already and we're just now told it would be another 15 minutes. It was the third time we have been told 15 minutes. This has happened the last last times we have come this summer but each time it gets progressively worse. In addition the service is dropping off as well. What a same as we have always really like coming here. I can't understand why they can't be up front and honest with the wait times. read more

I don't normally give 5 stars, but I make an exception when the staff is so nice to my crazy weimaraner! We took the pooch to the beach for the 1st time today and decided to give the Den a try since it was right across from the part of the beach we were hanging at, plus had outdoor seating. Although the outside wasn't technically open they had no problem with us sitting out there with our dog and even brought water (they had a dog bowl) and some biscuits without even asking...very nice touch. We were staying in AC and we (3 of us) went to the Pirate's Den on an April Wednesday for brunch. We enjoyed the boardwalk right across the street although the beach was closed. The wait staff was helpful, the food was good and the price was very reasonable. I would go there again and recommend it without reservation. read more

Yes it is a popular place and seems to be doing well then why don't they update the decor and make it comfortable for those waiting to get in? While we waited we were attacked by the green head flies. It was awful. When we finally got seated we were welcomed by a large cockroach underneath our chairs. We had coffee and left. This was our favorite place on the island...until recently. Two of us stopped in two weeks ago on a Monday evening. The lovely hostess told us she could seat us but it would be an hour for food because the fans in the kitchen were broken and the cooks could only do one order at a time because they needed to go outside to cool off. We had time to wait and asked if we would be able to have our salads and bread while waiting with the wine we brought-(byob a plus) We chose outdoor seating but as the hostess was seating us the outdoor waitress made a rude remark to hostess that we overheard regarding giving her another table outside. The bus boy was great and we had water and our wine cups in no time- but after 35 minutes being ignored by our waitress- we put down a tip for the water and wineglass and left. We decided to try it again this past weekend - and had a reservation for our large party. We waited 20 minutes to be seated- and when the hostess come outside to bring us in to seat us- the male manager asked us rudely- may I help you as we walked into the restaurant. To top it off- they were clearly understaffed for a weekend and although we had a wonderful waitress- it took forever to take our order get our salads and finally our meals. We were so so excited last year when Pirates Den switched ownership - and it was our favorite place on the island --but our last two visits were complete disappointments. Hopefully something will change soon so we can continue to enjoy this little gem on the north end! read more

Went there for breakfast this morning since we were looking for a place in brigantine that serves breakfast. We read the reviews for Pirates Den and overall they seemed ok, so we decided to go to Pirate's Den. When we first walked in, there was no place to stand so we could see the cooks and servers. I saw one server cough in her hand, then continued to reach for the syrup. We should have left then. The restaurant looked quite tacky and dirty inside. I saw one waitress play with her hair then went to grab food to serve. When we received our food, it looked really pleasant. what little food I ate, I did like but unfortunately my boyfriend found hair on his waffles and instantly I was reminded of the unsightly surroundings and I was completely disgusted. This place needs to be more hygenic and thoroughly cleaned. I will not return to this restaurant. read more

Great place!! I have been going here for over 10 years. My only complaint is the waiting time during peak times in the morning. That said - it's worth the wait! Great food, the people who work there are extremely friendly, and service is fast. The early bird dinner special is a great value and there is never a wait for that. I wish they had WIFI. I would probably go for lunch more often if they did. Also, they really need to expand to add some more tables. The waiting area is really small, so prepare to wait outside. read more

This is a neat little restaurant tucked away at the end of the island. My girlfriend and I go to Brigantine at least once or twice a year. We stop into this restaurant at least once or twice per trip for breakfast. There are a large variety of omelets and I normally try something different each time. Food is very good here. french fries are tasty, burgers are fresh, breakfast items are great, soups seem house made and not from a can. servers are attentive once you get one. they seat you and it takes a lil for them to come by for the first time but after that they bring you coffe, water, sides, ect... right away. great great value and good location across from the beach. only thing that kills it is that its so tacky inside. you will also come across a fly at least a couple times and possibly a brigantine fly which are these green flies that are by the beach that sting so bad. but food and value is great so take out may be a better option. read more

Had a wonderful evening meal at the Pirate's Den. One of the new owners, Michael Weigner was particularly attentive. This place is definitely more than a breakfast lunch/ place. Our food was good and the service excellent. It is family friendly and although the decor is a little dated, I am sure that Michael has great things in store. i would definitely return and am looking forward to all the updates Michael talked about. read more

We have been coming to Brigantine for 27 years and been eating at the Pirates Den for just as long. We recently celebrated my daughters birthday there with 9 people for brunch on a Sunday and they were so accommodating. The lox onions and eggs is my favorite but my friends love the eggs Benedict. We also eat dinner there. If we get there early enough there is an early bird special with a smaller portion entree including soup or salad and dessert for under $15. I had the scallops and the double baked potato which were both delicious and $11.95 at the early bird. My friend had the crab cakes and my daughter a bacon burger and the bill was under $35, Their prices are quite reasonable for a shore town. Worth the wait for breakfast and a great deal for dinner if you want to miss the crowds. They were recently sold but everything remains the same I.e. staff and food but they are renovating the inside and adding outside seating. We cannot wait to eat outside at our favorite island restaurant. read more

I know that breakfast reigns supreme at this quaint Jersey Shore hidden gem, but I'll let everybody else give 5 star breakfast reviews. I'm here to give a 5 star review for the Early Bird specials. Start with bread & butter plus soup or salad, followed by a side of veggies, pasta, or twice baked potato (get potato!). Wide range of entrees include stuffed shrimp and crab cakes, fish, or my personal favorite chicken parmagiana (delicious!). Finish with either ice cream or their home-made rice pudding (best I've ever tried!). I believe all entrees are under $20 so you get good food for a reasonable price; my chicken parm special was only $12.95! The staff is SO friendly and when you're finished, walk across the street and walk off your meal along the ocean at the beautiful and peaceful Sea Wall. Hola, Tammy, best server in brigantine! Wow, what a pleasant surprise we found at the Pirates den! First, importantly, the place was clean, decorated nicely and smelled good. Pleasant staff, great food, interesting menu and serves breakfast till 2:30 pm. After a brisk walk on the windy beach, this retreat hidden at the end of brigantine is worth the ride. I had pancakes with peaches and coconut, and it was everything I wanted. While a turkey club isnt such a big deal, my husbands was. It had fresh turkey, crispy bacon, and was devoured. I would probably give this 3.5 stars if I could. We came for breakfast and I enjoyed it. The food was pretty good. I LOVED my pancakes and I am usually a savory breakfast person. My husband got an omelet with lobster in it which I just thought was ok but he enjoyed it. Th pancakes were really good though. The service was just ok but it could have just been an of day for them. I am so disappointed. My husband and I have a condo just down the street on 13th Street. We have always had great breakfasts but the staff has been frustrating at best. We are new to the area and were excited to bring family and friends to our local breakfast place. Our 2 adult daughters were visiting one weekend with their boyfriends. My youngest and her fiance are vegan so I made them something at home and sent my husband, oldest daughter and her boyfriend to order our meals from you to go so we could all eat together. They waited patiently until it was there turn to order when the woman taking the orders shouted out "No more to go orders!" When questioned she ranted that someone had called in sick again and she had had enough and couldn't take it anymore. Ok, one bad day. The next weekend friends from NY came to visit and we wanted to share our breakfast place with them. We were waiting to be seated while a man was picking up a huge to go order ( 3 huge bags) which we had been refused just 7 days before. We were at the front of the line waiting to put our name on the list with many people waiting behind us to do the same when an older gentleman excuses himself and walks by us and straight up to the young woman taking names. My husband says, "Excuse me we are all waiting." She turns away from us with a disgusted look, they call his wife through the crowd waiting and she seats them. The man turns as they are walking away and says, "The squeaky wheel!" We loved just walking down the street to enjoy a great breakfast but the negative experience lingers with you throughout the day. Worst breakfast I`ve ever had, scrapple and eggs. The scrapple must have been deep fried in overly used cooking oil, it had no crispness to it at all. I am a scrapple guy but I could not even eat it, the coffee was $2.00 for what amounted to be a half a cup of bad coffee. Service was just as bad, as my wifes breakfast was served on a plate that had chocolate sauce all over the bottom of it. I don`t usually do reviews, but I had to vent about this place. read more
