Just went back July 20 and ordered my new favorite omelet - pepperoni and provolone. Perfectly cooked, hot and again, very tasty. Was expecting home fried potatoes on the side, but instead got hash browns. I learned later from one of the wait staff that apparently due to complaints from other diners, a switch was made. Not for the better I might add. I understand that consistency in cooking either potato can be a challenge, depending on how busy the restaurant is. That said, the home fried potatoes at least tasted real. The hash browns I was served were mealy and unevenly cooked. Mike, I hope you'll reconsider returning to home fried potatoes. This place is quantity over quality. Be ready for long wait times to order and poor follow up service. Once you get your meal forget about seeing your waitress/waiter again. Have had breakfast here many times while visiting in AC. One day with nothing to do my husband and I decided to take a ride and wound up in Brigantine. We decided to get something lite to eat at the Pirates Den. We were very disappointed. For the second time it seems we've gotten there at the wrong time which wasn't breakfast. They had to vacuum the front of the restaurant to get ready for the dinner crowd (it was 3:00 pm) and so we were seated in the rear while the sound of the vacuum droned out front. The service was ok, nothing special. The first time we arrived at the "wrong time"( for us of course) we didn't stay. They had to vacuum the front and so they led us to the rear where there was a very boisterous crowd. We decided that a NJ diner was a better bet for us and we left. I believe there are new owners. I just don't think it's as good as it had been. I haven't had the breakfast recently but the lunch I had this last time wasn't all that good. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. And the coffee was cold! Maybe next time we'll hit it for breakfast and see what it's like. read more

Haven't been here in a few years and we didn't miss anything. Today was the worst service ever. I asked the waitress for half and half for my coffee and ended up having to take it from another table because the waitress never came back with it. The egg sandwich we had was greasy, could not taste the pepper jack cheese we asked for, very little bacon and greasy hash browns. Then, to top it off, after we were done, the waitress never came back to our table with the check. We had to ask someone to get our waitress to bring our check. Inside, they had no idea what they were doing. They are so unorganized. They no system for people waiting to pay or waiting for a seat. You may have heard that after many years of great dining the Pirate's Den was sold a year ago. For anyone who hasn't been recently the new owners haven't missed a beat in fact they have added outdoor seating which is perfect as you can see the reflection of the sunset over the ocean as you are eating across the street from the Sea Wall while listening to the waves. For years this was known as a great breakfast and lunch spot on the island and more recently stepped up their game for dinner entrees and nightly specials too. The new owners have maintained that and offer really attractive Early Bird meals too! Imagine being at the shore and getting flounder or chicken parmesan or broiled scallops just a few of their early offerings for just $12 and all of the specials include a salad or side, beverage and dessert! They have many seafood entrees but you can also get chicken or beef or if you'd prefer vegetarian enjoy the eggplant parmesan or linguini. Even if you eat inside you'll want to take a short walk along the Sea Wall afterwards and if you'd like you can BYOB to the restaurant. Cute restaurant but the food was underwhelming. I ordered steamers and mussels and was served several broken and closed mussels. It took about 15 minutes to get our order taken. My boyfriend and I each got a pasta dish with seafood in them. They were both amazing and we cleaned our plates! There is the option to sit inside or outside. Both are very nice. I highly recommend this restaurant especially if you want some good seafood. read more

The waiters at this establishment were very friendly and understanding but constantly forgot things and did not pay full attention. Although the atmosphere was pleasant, everything else was not. The food tasted pre-cooked, frozen, and not at all fresh. Everything was grossly overpriced and I even picked up a stomach virus from this restaurant. My wife and I love this place. We go there every time we go to the river. We cruise the boat in to their docking area, tie it up to the private slip and go on in for food and drink. If friends or family is with us we look forward to taking them with us. They don't have loud head banging music, you can actually talk to people without having to yell and try to lipread. They have very good food and very good service. Madison and Sara were our servers last time we were there making sure we were happy and content with a smile on their face constantly. The Pirates Den is a truly great restaurant. Good for all occasions, whether you want to stop in for a quick breakfast, or have an elegant dinner, the setting and the menu are very versatile and can suit any of your dining needs. I was very very disgusted from my experience the old waitress outside shouldn't be a waitress if she can't remember to put in the orders she takes it took us sitting there for 45 minutes and asking her where our order was because people who had just walked in were already getting there food when we asked she lied and made up so bullshit excuse saying they bring out the orders by going around from the front of the outside area to the back like ok. She then comes back 5 minutes later saying she just put it in like I'm sorry but maybe you guys should check your waitresses memory skills before allowing them to work for you cuz I for one will definitely never becoming back and 10 members of my family own houses down here and already 20 of our friends and they all agreed we will never be going back so disgusted with the fact you allow your employees to not be mentally okay for the job read more

We had dinner at Pirate's Den on one of our first nights at Brigantine. Unfortunately, it was not a very good meal. There were three of us with different dishes and we were all disappointed. (crab cake, seafood platter, and crab ravioli). The tables rocked and the chairs were uncomfortable. The waitress was pleasant, we were seated and served quickly. A classic place for breakfast at the beach. I usually stick with the traditional pancake or egg variations, but they have some more adventurous items as well. It will definitely fill you up and have you ready for a beach nap in no time. I highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Atlantic City and looking for a more simple, classic option. I'm really disappointed with this restaurant. The Pirates Den is a staple in Brigantine, but it is really going down hill. I had the broiled stuffed shrimp with a twice baked potato and vegetable medley. The potato was clearly frozen before, it tasted like nasty TV dinner mashed potatoes. The vegetables were very watery and flavorless. The entree itself was lukewarm and the crab imperial stuffing was basically all filler. Our waitress was nowhere to be found throughout our meal. We only saw her twice. Once to order and again when she dropped off our food. We had to go up to the register and ask for the check, after the waitress walked by us 4 times without acknowledging us. Though we were disappointed that it did not really have water view, the restaurant had a nice, cosy atmosphere. The food was a different story. My omelette was OK, (how wrong can you go with that?), just had to add a lot of salt and pepper, because it was kind of bland. But my husband's fried shrimp (2) and scalops (3) was inedible. He made me try one scalop and sorry to say, I had to leave it in the napkin. We also had coffee and my husband had a cup of soup. Came to the Pirate's Den the weekend after Labor Day for Sunday brunch. We expected a wait, so the 25-minute wait for a table for two was not a surprise. What was a surprise was the poor service. Our waitress barely made eye contact the entire time, and we had to ask two times for refills -- once when she brought the food, and then again the next time we saw her, which was after our meals were totally finished. We ate our meals sipping from the last 1/5 of my water glass, which became a communal glass of water since the bf had already finished his water, and both of us had finished our coffee before our food even arrived, and no one ever refilled our beverages. I don't entirely blame the waitress though -- we did see a gentleman walking around with coffee pots and water pitchers, providing refills to others in the restaurant. But, for some reason he never came back to our section, which was all the way in the back by the restrooms. It was like some invisible barrier, which caused him to turn around and walk away before offering refills to patrons at the 6 tables in the back, despite the fact that his pitchers and pots were far from empty. Also, it seemed that instead of each waitress having a designated section, they were all running all over the place. For example, 3 waitresses were covering the 6 tables in our section, so I could see why our waitress wouldn't make our 2 tables all the way in the back a priority when she was also working the bigger dining areas. The 2 stars I do leave are for the food -- we were both pleased with our meals, we just wished we had something to wash them down with. read more

I've been coming here for years, since I was a kid and have seen the place change quite a bit over the years, for both good and bad(mostly good). There's almost always a wait here, but the food here is well worth the wait. I'd have to say this is the best breakfast in Brigantine and it's so good that even when I stay in Atlantic City, I'll drive over to get some. Everything I've had here is good, though I usually stick with pancakes, French toast, or an omelette. I'm going to say I've been here about 40-50 times in my life and have only ordered breakfast so that's the only thing I can recommend. However I would recommend Pirate's Den to anyone visiting the Brigantine/AC area. read more

My kids love seafood and they were quite satisfied...they are the toughest critics sometimes!! The stuffed clams casino were delicious and I'm glad we opted for those as an appetizer!! My platter was good but not exceptional . The crabcake was excellent but the fried shrimp leaves a little bit to be desired . My husband got Fra Diablo and it was advertised to have shrimp, but they were missing . Our waitress kindly substituted the best peanut butter pie I ever had to accommodate the chefs oversight . I would highly recommend this restaurant when you are in BB . My only suggestion would be for the food preparers to make the food hotter . My lunch favorite would be the Brig burger fresh blue cheese roasted peppers on a panini! Or the Sandra salad topped with grilled salmon! Dinner of course the French Fried Lobster tail! Apps ! I've lived in brigantine all my life and have eaten at the pirate's Den quite often. Breakfast can't be beat, no doubt about it. Lunch and dinner aren't too bad either but could be better. Prices are reasonable and it's great for the family. Nautical themed atmosphere reminds you where you are. It's one of the island's little gems. read more

If you go there at all I would suggest for breakfast and lunch only since all of the good reviews are pertaining to that and lunch. We made the mistake of going for dinner. The waitress was overworked and not friendly, she never introduced herself. She did not come back to the table to check if we needed anything which we did because my food was awful. The pasta tasted old and stale . When I finally got to ask her to change the pasta to the twice baked potato she brought back a potato with a finger indentation in it. Also, she didn't even ask what was wrong with the pasta or offer an apology for my inconvenience. She didn't bother to tell my 8 year old that his pasta would be full of crab shells from the poorly peeled crab meat and LOTS of red peppers. The crab cakes were full of more breading/filler than crab meat and for their price that was shameful. All of the prices were ridiculously expensive because this is not a five star restaurant with five star food or five star service, stay in your lane Pirates Den, you are marginally one step above a diner. As bad as all of this sounds, the absolute worst part of the night was watching our waitress make other people's salads with her nasty, germ filled, unwashed, ungloved hands. All of the other staff put on a glove to prepare the salad plates, but not this old lady. She just dug right in with her fingers picking out the lettuce, then the carrots and onions. I wonder how often she does that because she seemed quite at home doing it and even nastily eyed one of the waitstaff who stopped to watch her do that. A good friend recommended this brunch place to us, especially with the long wait at Shea's Cafe in Galloway on the weekends, we opted for Pirate's Den. It is quite a trek out to Brigantine, but on an April morning, with the sun out, and cool ocean breeze, it was perfect and worth it. Also, the vacationers are not yet at their shore houses, so there was no wait for a table. I ordered the Maine Lobster Eggs Benedict and it was amazing! I love Maine Lobster, which tasted fresh and flavorful. I was also nervous about the hollandaise sauce because I had forgotten to ask for it on the side since most is very heavy and creamy, but their hollandaise sauce was light and just right. It was not greasy, and it is probably the best egg benedict I've ever had. The BF made his own omelet with eggs, spinach, cheese, and hot sausage. He didn't feel it was anything great, just your average omelet. Also, the home fries were a bit plain, and you would need a lot of salt and pepper to get some flavor to them. He did enjoy their coffee. We also got a short stack of pancakes which was decent, and fluffy. They serve it with packaged Kraft syrup, eh. Prices are average. Service was a little slow.
