I wish I could give this company zero stars. Trying to plan a last minute Indiana Jones themed birthday party for my 8 year old. He told me he has two actors... one of which still works for Lucas Film (very serious and professional) and another younger actor who could do the part. I explained- while I respect the quality of his more professional actor it's for an 8 year old and I think the younger actor would be more appropriate. He asked my budget several times to which I responded- I have no idea even the ballpark prices. I see another company online that charges approximately $240/hour. He laughed at that. He then shamed me implying that my child should be worth the extra money. I was shocked. I explained I'm going through a divorce and I'm trying to pull together a party for my daughter this year. *I should not have even dignified his accusation with a response but I felt attacked and responded instinctively. He continued to be condescending and just speak over me pushing the more expensive actor.... so I hung up. How dare this man suggest that I'm not giving my child the best. Single mom trying to throw a birthday party for an 8 year old going through a divorce. SHAME ON YOU. *WOW. I should've read the other reviews before calling. First of all about 2 months ago maybe I called for some information find out what exactly they do and see if this is something my son would enjoy at his party. Well Jack is who I spoke to and let me tell you this man is the rudest person I have ever spoken too!!!! He didn't want or answer any of my questions and made me feel like every question I asked was stupid ! When I asked pricing he asked for the address of event to check so I gave him the location, he asked date and time for availability so I gave it to him. He told me well if you want to book I need a deposit I told him on the phone I was calling for info and at the time didn't have any money for deposit, in my head I'm Thinking no way I would ever hire this man just from our phone call... Sooo yesterday was my sons birthday and it was amazing!!!! To my surprise as I'm in the back playing with the kids at the party my husband yells babe the bird guy is here!!! Ummmm what bird guy I walked in to a man standing there with 2 huge perches and 3 huge parrots. I ask him what are you doing here he said you hired me , I was shocked!!! I had about 50 people there witnessing this he told me he came all the way from riverside and was waiting outside for 1 hour like I'm going to feel sorry for him. I told him I didn't book you I spoke to someone on the phone for info about services but noooooo deposit was ever made!!!!!! He said "well give me 250 and I'll put on a amazing show for you , you won't be disappointed " This man stood there and would not leave everyone at my party pretty much felt the pressure so they all took out their wallets and pitched in we handed him a stack of money and he then started the show!! Omg I was horrified the kids had no idea what was going on the birds were all over the place didn't follow any of the commands and the man was tossing these poor birds all over the place!!!! Hanging the bird by his tail feathers and his neck. Birds feathers were falling out during our show that's how bad it was....Kids laughed because they don't know but even my son said mom are the birds ok!!! We own a parrot and would never do any of the things he did. The show went on for maybe 20 min and it was torture. Then after he was done he walks to my dessert table and packs himself up desserts to go, then to my food table grabbed a plate of food and water and soda!!! So this morning I called the phone number and spoke to Jack !!! I told him I'm calling about your employee showing up to my party yesterday and I didn't even book your services this man was so mean and said did my man show up with the birds I said yes he did he said well you owe me money I'll see you in court and HUNG UP on me!!!! I can not believe all this happened!! The guy on the phone was incredibly rude and condescending, I'm a personal assistant just looking to get info on a few decorating companies for my boss and they assumed because I didn't have a budget off-hand that she couldn't afford them. He said they only do the biggest, "most expensive", high profile decorating jobs in town. Which, if that's true, should be made more evident on their website. Boston Captain Jack Sparrow was wonderful! Good communication leading up to the party, showed up on time, and had great interaction with the entire crowd. The kids loved him; from the sword fighting lessons, to the treasure hunt, to the games. He did a great job of keeping the kids involved and focused (we had a bunch of toddlers, haha.) Had the privilege to be ask to go to this great fundraiser. We were entertained by the pirates for parties cast. They had pirate musicians that really looked the part and had a great sound to them. The props really made the pirate ambience complete. Of course the pièces de résistanc was their Capitan Jack who was playing host and going around person to person making sure everyone was entertained. He did everything from jokes to fighting some of the guests with swords. It was like he was straight out of the movies. They had a cool photo booth with props and what not. It was all fun and I thanked and got information from the event coordinator. These guys do birthdays as well big or small. First of all, if I could give this company negative stars, I would. I am writing this based on a HORRENDOUS experience I had at work today. We had asked for the Rio bird show and wanted to confirm with the guy when and what time he was coming. Not only did the person working customer service not confirm with us, he was extremely rude to all of our staff. He refused to give us the number of the guy coming to perform and gave us little to no information about what the show would be like. I would like to review how the show went-- not worth the $400 that was spent and was extremely painful to watch. Customer service told me that they would arrive just before the show started which sounded extremely unprofessional to me, assuming there would be set-up required prior to the start of the show. (Not to mention, the customer service guy told me that piece of information in a very condescending way as if I were an idiot) This company claims that they do shows all over the nation, but how many customers are returning customers? Probably none. The birds were not well trained enough to do all the tricks (and frankly, didn't respond to many of the commands) and the one hour show that we had asked for was cut short 20 minutes. Sadly, this isn't the worst part yet. After the show, we called the company to give us an invoice for the check we had paid for. For constructive criticism purposes, we also wanted to let them know that the way they handled the whole "confirming situation" was not efficient enough and made us quite unhappy. Instead of taking this piece of criticism like professionals would, they turned the tables on us and called us unprofessional. The worst part: HE CALLED ONE OF OUR STAFF MEMBERS AUTISTIC because he called many times to try and confirm and didn't speak "clearly enough." Not only is that extremely disrespectful to those with special needs, but is also VERY unprofessional of them to say to a customer who just paid $400 for this terrible experience. If I could rate the Jack Sparrow who entertained at my son's 5th birthday party 10 stars, I would. We had about 70 people at Cameron's party (parents and kids), and I must have received two dozen compliments and praises on our Jack! He was not only very attentive to the birthday boy, but was also attentive to the other children. So, there was a good balance. When the kids went on the hunt for treasure in the front yard, he was also concerned about the safety of the kids. When he entered the party he said his "hellos" to the party-goers, kids, birthday boy, and when he was leaving, he said his "goodbyes." Everything that this Jack said was SPOT ON to the character. His mannerisms, accent, look, even language that is known to be said by pirates, were right on. He was also very humorous and not only had the kids laughing, but the adults, too. This guy is good people, and we would NEVER hire another Jack but him. I will be hosting a corporate event for our clients' families and was looking to hire a pirate. I saw their website and it looked great so I decided to give them a call. BIG mistake! The guy was so RUDE! I asked him for pricing which he quoted $250 for an hr and said that I would be getting the Captain Jack Sparrow from Disneyland and said what a great deal it was. I hired Captain Jack for my son's 4 year birthday party and he didn't disappoint! Captain Jack was the friendliest of pirates and had all fourteen kiddos in stitches the entire hour. Even the adults were cracking up at his antics and commenting on how authentic he is (think Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean! No joke, this guy is the real deal!). We were beyond impressed. Captain Jack called me one week prior to confirm and iron out the details. He showed up exactly on time, didn't rush, and stayed for photos with family and any others who wanted pics. He was definitely the star of the party! I have been meaning to write a review for some time now. I hired Pirates for Parties, to have Captain Jack surprise my twins for their third birthday party last August, 2014. After reading some of these reviews, I got very worried and almost canceled, however, I crossed my fingers and toes, and hoped for the best. I am so glad I didn't listen to the previous posters. We were all blown away with Captain Jack! His costume was authentic, he was wonderful with all the little boys and girls, and he really looked and acted like captain Jack with his accent and mannerisms! We had a walk the plank set up, he had the kids walk the plank with his demonstration, he taught the kids how to"sword fight," and to top it off, he took them on a treasure hunt to find buried treasure in our backyard (which I hid!). Haven't even booked this company and I won't -- I've been trying to finalize plans for my daughters birthday for 2 months -- started early because we wanted exotic animals which are not cheap and require permits -- Jack is egotistic and way too busy to call anyone, he wants you to contact him, but only during business hours on weekdays because he's too busy with productions on weekends and can't worry about sales calls. He called me a couple of weeks beforehand to confirm all details and arrived promptly at the party. What blew me away was not only did this pirate look like Johnny Depp, he had the mannerisms, the drunk kind of walk, the funny funny funny jokes and he kept those kids and the adults entertained the whole time! I videoed a lot of what he did interacting with the kids and I still like to look at them and they still make me laugh. The worst experience I have had with a party entertainer. I was told he would get adults and kids involved and would be funny. Sadly the only involvement he had was letting people interact with the birds which BIT both adults and children. My daughter had a huge bruise on her neck as a result of the bird biting her. The kids were uninterested in his character and eventually walked away before his time was up. I had requested that he end his time earlier than we had arranged. I would have liked to hire this company's Captain Jack Sparrow for a Surprise 60th Birthday Party we were throwing for my dad. I first emailed them with the details for the event and I got a email back saying "Hi Call us.. We need more info on your event." I guess this company doesn't work with email? So I called and started by explaining the party and asking more about their services, asking if they were Denver local since it came up on Google search, but that I noticed the number was from Orange County. The guy was so short and rude that finally I asked him if he was annoyed by my call. He continued to be short and said "Do you want to book or not?" I couldn't get a single detail out of him and couldn't get over the rude treatment, so I said, "I guess not. I don't think I could work with someone as rude as you." And he put it back on me saying, "We don't work with rude people like you." My son Marcus absolutely LOVES pirates and all things pirate, from Jake and the Neverland Pirates to the movies with Johnny Depp, so for his 7th birthday last month he wanted a pirate party. How could I refuse? I got a recommendation for this company from a friend of my wife's. I contacted them over the phone, and the process was relatively easy and painless. The man on the phone was quite helpful. The day of the party, Captain Jack showed up on time, and he was AWESOME! My son couldn't have been more thrilled. Captain Jack was a huge hit. He trained the kids how to be pirates, gave them balloon swords, and even took them on a treasure hunt in our backyard (my wife hid the treasure).
