We didn't get seated so didn't eat here. We tried to get some help and ignored multiple times. We were standing there waiting for help for several minutes and were not acknowledging. They were not terribly busy, seating outside and inside. Attempted to wave down a server, looked at us and kept walking. Then tried with another server and they looked at us and walked off. Our bartender was friendly. I ordered the gator nuggets and blackened grouper with feta pasta and cucumber tomato salad. Everything was well seasoned and cooked. I mixed everything up and dumped their "pirates pub and grub garlic hot sauce" all over it. Their gator nuggets were tender I've always experienced a more chewier consistency but it's tender and less chewable. Really good gator nuggets. And their sauce was. I have been coming to pirates pub & grub for many years. It is one of my favorite spots to look out at the water at John's pass and just relax. They have several spots that face the water so I can usually find a place unless it's peak hours. It's also good for people watching. I don't like seafood so I always get a burger or a hot dog which hit the spot! I also get some of the tomato cucumber salad to bring home it's really tasty! The service is a hit or miss sometimes it's slow but the food comes out pretty quickly. Keeping this as a staple on my list for great weather days. read more

I hate giving reviews when I have very little to say on the positive side of things. We came for a quick lunch, and we were quickly seated and greeted... but we waited a good bit for food and then to leave. We had a set time we needed to leave and we were ready for about 15 minutes and no one came to give us a box or give us a check. I ended up going to the bartender to get the check to pay. It seems there were only 2 servers handling the whole restaurant and it was not enough. Not to mention the food was average at best. We got gator bites for an appetizer and they were pretty "fishy." Then the rest was fried food and pretty average. The chicken tenders were super hot and almost burning to eat. I will say the fries were the best part of the meal. Overall it's a fine place to go, but I wouldn't recommend it. I'd say if you're looking for a dive bar it's probably a better match for you. read more

Pirates Pub is one of those places we come to every so often...and then we remember how good it is, which is exactly why we keep coming back. Cold beers, a great location, and a laid-back local vibe that never disappoints. The food is consistently solid. The Pirate vs Burger was a standout...juicy, flavorful, and the fresh jalapeños gave it the perfect kick. We also had the clams in white wine sauce, and they were excellent: tender clams with a bright, savory sauce that was perfect for dipping. The fish dip is fresh and always a great start, too. Super fun place to grab drinks and food, especially after being on the water. Maria is the absolute best. I came to this location more often when parking wasn't such a nightmare but still love to be there. The atmosphere is light and fun and Maria makes you feel like you're visiting a friend's place. Amber is great too and I can tell she treats her employees nicely. The vibe of any business but especially bars and restaurants is created by the management and felt through the staff so I commend Amber for creating such a great atmosphere. Me and my husband visited Pirates Pub & Grub on a Tuesday evening about 7:00. There was nobody inside eating and only one couple at the bar. I ordered the crab cake dinner with two sides , the only complaint I had was they put a spicy sauce on it which I wasn't advised by the waitress. I feel any sauces that are spicy should be told to the customer just in case . I ate half of it but really dislike spicy food and sauce. My husband ordered the lobster roll. He said the chilled lobster wasn't very cold more room temperature . He wasn't that satisfied with his meal . The only thing that was great were the fresh cut fries. The waitress Holly was nice and very attentive. Next time I visit John's pass I will try another restaurant since there are many choices. This establishment is good if you like to sit at a cool pirate themed bar but not to have a casual dinner. read more

My friend and I were looking for lunch and I saw this listed with good reviews so we decided to try it - we were glad we did! It's the kind of place you walk into and never run out of things to look at. There's so much fun pirate decor that has clearly been cultivated over time. It's just a fun place to be. Ended up ordering the grouper sandwich grilled - garlic style. I didn't really taste garlic & it was a little bland so I got their boom boom sauce and it was PERFECT for this. It added so much flavor and just the right amount of spice. My friend got shrimp tacos (also with the boom boom sauce) and they looked incredible, she loved them. The fries were crispy & solidly good. Would've loved to sit outside and people watch on the boardwalk but it was drizzling on and off so we opted for inside - it's fairly covered outside but if a real Florida storm came through you'd for sure get wet. read more

Let me tell you, they were delicious. Fried perfectly. My husband loved his burger and it was cooked perfectly. Onion rings were amazing with a nice crispy batter. I got my crab cake fix and it was unlike any I've ever had. It was huge and meaty with a nice spicy sauce on top. Also really enjoyed the cucumber and tomato salad. Potato salad was just okay to me. I did not have high expectations, as Pirates Pub & Grub is (a) located in a highly trafficked tourist spot and (b) has the word "Grub" in the name. But, we had an absolutely wonderful evening there! We had a few appetizers, including the mussels. Then we had lots of grouper. The seafood was fresh and well prepared. In other words, delicious! All of it, wonderful! We also started with a variety of tropical cocktails, all of which were very tasty and reasonably strong. There are plenty of places in the general area (any tourist spot, really) that will serve what I call "alcohol scented" cocktails. Not the Pirates P&G. Everything we had was a true and tasty cocktail - including the bucket of booze my (adult) son ordered (photo below). Service was also excellent. We had two servers, whose names I wish I had for this review. They were both superb - not only providing great service, but willing to chat a bit and take a bunch of photos of us (and with us). They were awesome! We sat outside, so we missed the atmophere inside. After looking at some of the other review pics (after our visit), I wish I'd gone inside at least to check it out and maybe watch their bartender toss some bottles about. Seating outside is very limited, but we were lucky enough to get a table and enjoy beautiful views of the water and the sky during sunset (facing east, but it was still beautiful). This is one of a few places I wouldn't miss if I make it back to the area! Highly recommended! read more

We visited this bar tonight and after we left, several members of my family were harassed by the bar saying we took someone's wallet or something. My MOTHER was even called who lives in Idaho and she was freaking out thinking something was wrong and had happened to us. I have no idea how they got her phone number or any of our phone numbers but it's pretty alarming that this bar or the clientele would go to these measures just because we were the patrons who sat at the bar spot after some drunk guy. We spoke to the gentleman before sitting down and he was wasted. We enjoyed the bar, but after this experience, we will absolutely never set foot in there again. A word of advice, do not pull customers credit card slips and harass their family. read more

The restaurant itself wasn't bad. Some the food was bland, and calamari seemed over cooked. Fries were very good, comparable to Five Guys fries. Conch fritters were good.
