This is a small place, though there are tables for dining, that is set back and you might miss it if you aren't careful. The woman at the counter was the host and server. Definitely gives you family vibes there. I ordered a special which was the cod prepared three different ways. The traditional gomes sa was my least favorite. There was a flavor I couldn't pinpoint that I just didn't care for. The á bras was good, just as you'd expect it to be. The ze do pippo was my first time trying it. They do it with a mayo-mustard topping on a portion of cod (watch the bones) served on top of small potatoes. It wasn't bad but it's VERY rich. Might just not be my thing. They also had a kale soup that I took home that was very good. All in all, I would be interested in trying other dishes and updating this review when I do. I ordered fish and chips. Disappointed and surprised it was not good. Mozambique sauce had no taste and the fish batter was flavorless. I will try their other food based on the reviews, however I will pass on the Fish and Chips in the future. Quahogs very good, but I am left wondering if they were cooked. We dined at Piri Piri on Saturday, 3/8/25. Everything we ordered was prepared to perfection. We appreciated a wonderful and warm welcome from Sandy, the proprietor, upon our arrival. It was our first visit, and she was very happy to answer questions that we had about the menu. The menu is extensive, and a special Lenten menu offered even more options. We started with an order of their Little Neck Clams Avo Alberto, and were extremely impressed with the delicious broth/sauce and yummy little neck clams. This is truly a special dish that is memorable for all of the right reasons, and we will return to Piri Piri again soon while it's available on their Lenten menu! They also prepared for us, upon request, shrimp Mozambique "cheese- steak-like" sandwiches. In addition to various steak, chicken, and pork sandwiches, they offer these with chicken Mozambique, so we asked about getting shrimp instead, and they happily accommodated our request. It was delicious! Their fries and Portuguese bread rolls were the perfect complements to what we ordered. Additionally, we ordered their hearty Portuguese Kale soup, and that too was terrific, and could easily have been a meal in itself. Piri Piri offers seating in their restaurant, as well as carry out, and catering. Parking is in front (with a nice accessible ramp), with additional parking in the back of the restaurant. We discovered this Portuguese place during the pandemic, thanks to DoorDash. In fact, we have never been to this place in person. However, we have ordered probably like 30 times in the last couple of years. It is difficult to find an authentic but casual Portuguese restaurant west of Fall River, so Piri Piri was a welcome addition.. Their food is consistent and VERY reasonably priced. We always get Piri Piri Chicken (Flame Grilled Chicken) and Bifana (Pork Sandwich), and also Fish Filets, Bacalha A Gomes De Sa (Cod fish), Bife a Casa (Steak), so on. The owners/staff are great - very appreciative, polite, detail-oriented and nice, all of which qualities are hard to come through when ordering via a food delivery service, but they succeed in that regard, too. Let me end this review with this: my wife grew up eating her Portuguese mom's awesome home-cooked Portuguese meal every single night. Wife really enjoys Piri Piri's food. Had a strip sirloin, cooked perfectly, and I cut it with a butter knife. dime size piece of grizzle. Had well-cooked fries and a gravy/sauce that was flavorful without over powering spice. Wife and sister-in-law had chicken Parm over Pasta, I tried some, was excellent, sauce stuck to the pasta, chicken was tender and juicy. The Portions were large and impressive. We had shrimp Mozambique , as an appertizer to try out the sauce...good flavor not too spicy ( wife and sis-law are English, you know salt and pepper are spicy) The place was Very Clean, waitress was Great, met the chef/cook, she was very good. Not a huge fan. Pricey & Steaks need to be prepared better. Ordered a sandwich. Trim fat off steaks before cooking, add more red pepper, and include SOME garlic (there is none). Good chefs will prepare meat properly before cooking. Cannot have fat like that on a steak and serve. Cannot happen. Steak sauce is way too salty. Simple fix. As a native of the area, I was looking for a quick Portuguese food fix while home visiting. This place has terrific food and generous portions.
