Booked this room on a whim, we were able to get a queen size room in the middle of summer. Customer service is excellent and the rooms are nice and clean. Old school elevator was charming. The hotel has so much history and I really liked that but some might say it's dated. The lobby is beautiful although they are not open 24/7. Key card access only at night. This hotel is centrally located and we loved that about it. The splash cafe is right across the street, so after we checked in, we went right across to get food just before they close! The hotel is about 2 blocks from the beach. So convenient! Surrounded by restaurants and shopping, we always had plenty to do. Parking is complementary and they let you park until 3pm on check out day. The only down side for me was no AC. It does get kinda loud at night because there is a bar right next door, but if you close your windows, you'll be fine. Overall we would definitely check in here again. read more

The staff (older lady) here was extremely rude and inconsiderate. She made a very wrong assumption about me and my family. As a disabled veteran, I don't care if this dumpy old "historic" hotel has charm, I'm going to stay anywhere else but here. Absolutely flabbergasted that people who want one's business can be so ignorant and all knowing. As a local, who does multiple staycations per year, they are losing out on a lot of could have been business. Smh. read more

The location is everything! You walk out and you are on the main strip. Our room was clean. It is a little outdated but it is the oldest hotel in Pismo. It met our needs for the night. We had a view of the strip and it was fun looking out and seeing everyone. The elevator is a little weird so we chose to take the stairs but it's just old, but functioning. Gave 4 stars as it could use some updating, but we would stay again. read more

This hotel should be ashamed of themselves. I have a service dog as a disabled veteran and she kept calling my dog a emotional support dog and laughed. My dog is registered by the state of California. Complete violation of the Disabilities Act . Please educate your staff before you get sued. read more

The dude and I stayed at this hotel on July 30th to August 1st in Pismo. We got a call 4 days before our stay with staff letting us know that the noteworthy Vintage Elevator was not working. We thought that was exceptional customer service especially since we were on the fourth floor. Staff informed us that someone can help us bring up the luggage as needed and we confirmed we would still be residing at the hotel. I usually do a little research before we stay at a new hotel and this place seriously has gotten really good reviews which is reassuring and plus it is literally in the heart of this beach town. The dude and I arrived at the hotel later than we anticipated as they close the lobby at 9pm and alternate staff will have to check us in. We arrived about 10pm, there was limited parking but luckily we found a spot and proceeded to check in. Staff member checked us in and let us know that the elevator was fixed so we didn't have to climb 4 flights of stairs with all our luggage. I LOVE THE ELEVATOR, very memorable for sure. We entered our room and I feel like it is probably the best view of all hotels in the building as we can see the main strip and partial of the ocean. The room was very surprisingly huge - the pictures does not do it any justice at all! It was very clean inside and spacious. I loved it and plus it was walking distance to everything. The next morning we walked and got breakfast and came back to the eat it on their outdoor patio. They use to have light refreshments but due to the new COVID spikes at the time they had to cease it and recommended some of the local favorites. Their grounds is absolutely beautiful, clean and perfect stay for the princess and the dude! The staff was very friendly and accommodating! They suddenly changed their check out time from 12pm to 11am and we addressed with them and they quickly made changes for current hotel guest and signage which was very impressive as management was quick to resolve any changes or incorrect Information! Lastly, We found our go to spot for visiting Pismo. It is nice to wake up early in the morning and be less than a 5 minute walk to paradise - the beach. We stayed here on a whim, and a recommendation from a bar tender at Harry's. We weren't ready to end our vacation so we extended it by 1 more night, and luckily for us the Pismo Beach Hotel had an opening, and the price was quite reasonable for being a Friday night on a holiday weekend. They have a private parking lot behind the hotel with security which was great. We had a room on the 3rd floor, and one of my favorite features was the super old elevator, that has 2 doors that have to be closed in order for the elevator to work. I love old hotels. This hotel was super quiet, and we even slept with all the windows open. Located right in the middle of downtown, it's a great spot to lay your head. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. We weren't here for long, really just to sleep, but I loved the feeling of this hotel. The staff were all very kind, and accommodating to us at such a last minute, even giving us a parking pass when we had to leave our other hotel. We will for sure look at staying here in the future. read more

Our friend gave us a coupon for two nights at the Pismo Beach Hotel that she got at a charity event and we booked a third night. Sorry to say we will never go back... do NOT stay there! The hotel was built in 1937 and needs some upgrades. The elevator is the original one from 1937 and we had constant problems with it. The gas heater stopped working the first night and the room was very cold in the morning. They gave us an electric heater and the maintenance guy came the next day to repair thee gas heater......and it only worked for one hour, so they gave us another electric heater and the two heaters blew the circuit. They should have refunded the night that we paid for. They do not provide breakfast and the free tea and coffee in the lobby were were not working. read more

The hotel staff is awesome! The room was okay, but the futon needs to go in the sitting room. It's very uncomfortable. There's plenty of room to put in a nice little love seat and a comfy chair. Lobby needs to have some drinks and a few snacks. They didn't offer anything. I think they may have had some water and coffee, but that was all. read more

I called a week or two before this is the second time it's happened they gave us the wrong room when I requested a certain room, but it always gets taken care of . We came to Pismo Beach from LA for a family event. Tammy at the front desk was so accommodating. She was busy and multitasking and still managed to make us feel so welcome. We arrived and she had a few things to button up on our reservation so, being thoughtful of our time she said "I'll watch your luggage if you want to take a few minutes to explore our town." Thank goodness!!! We ended up seeing the most beautiful sunset over the pier. Aside from amazing customer service, the room is really quite charming. We are on the 4th floor and out of a window we can see both the mountains and the ocean. The rooms are clean and our king bed was super comfortable. The heaters are cute little fireplaces. There is no pool or hot tub or gym, but you know that going in. This is a great spot for dropping off your things jumping into the ocean, grabbing an oyster by the pier, unplugging and enjoying the adventure of this epic town! read more

I have visited Pismo Beach many times as an adult and a few times as a kid with my family. We have stayed at a few different places, some fancier, some not as fancy. We thought we would give PBH a try, despite the mixed reviews. As a business owner, clearly one can not please everyone. We were very pleasantly surprised. Tammy at the front desk was friendly, warm, and accommodating. I accidently reserved for wrong day and she did not make a fuss or make me feel bad. Luckily there was a room available. It was quiet, clean, had a bathtub, a view, and we would definitely come back again for the place itself, but Tammy was a big part of our experience. It was more affordable than the fancy places, the location was perfect walking distance to the sunset or the night life, and we did NOT hear any neighbors in any of the rooms or street below. read more

My parents stayed at the "ocean view deluxe suite" when they came to visit for the weekend. When my dad read on the door that their room goes for $490 at peak summer times, all 3 of us burst into a nice long laughter. First off, the noise from Harry's is no joke for people who like to sleep in peace. There is live music at the bar till 3 am and you can hear it very well from the room (along with your neighbor's conversation). Secondly, there is zero style or conceptual design. The furniture looks straight out of your grandma's garage sale. Paint needs to be touched up and carpets should be changed by now. The room seemed pretty clean but there was someone's leftover pasta in the fridge so not exactly attention to detail. The layout is very awkward. Enter into small room with couch and a tiny TV then walk through the bathroom to get to the bedroom. Overall, this place feels more like a motel than a hotel (from lack of service which is nonexistent after 9pm to the furniture and sad complimentary breakfast). Either pay a little more a go to a nice hotel on the water or save the money and stay at a motel. This is a no-go in our book. No Wi-fi! read more

We stayed the weekend of the St Anthony Festival and it was the perfect location! Located in the heart of the action, next to everything and right in front of where the parade passes. Hotel staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly, we will be planning to stay here again next year! Note: Walls are incredibly thin. Wear ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. I'd also recommend that hotel offer ear plugs at the front desk for those who need/request them. read more

I am so excited to stay here I cannot believe that I have lived in California going on 18 years and I have yet to stay at the Pismo Beach Hotel. If you don't know it it's was the only Hotel on Pomeroy for years until another brand new hotel took over half of the parking lot right next to the beach. It's literally in the middle of the downtown action. Sadly most of the start I have given are because of the amazing staff and the awesome location. The check in was very pleasant as their mural says they have very courteous staff and it's not a lie. Andrew is our go-to guy for any and all questions related to the hotel and seems to know everything that's going on at the hotel and in the area. It has an adorable little old-time elevator that I'll get good pics of later. Update follow the elevator rules or you will pinch your fingers in the door. Keep the kids away from the door. The room is quite small, but it's really not a problem. The bed is the memory foam topper and a bit to soft. The bathroom is tiny, but usable. If the lady's want to do makeup there really is no room to set things down. So here is the kicker and would really drive down there points of it were not for the location and staff. The walls are paper thin. You can hear everything going on in the rooms next to you and above you. I'm up at 5:45 AM because the guy next door has a severe snoring disorder. No to the next glaring problem, there are no night staff. The lobby is caged and locked shut. So I'm wide awake and have no where to go. I can't Yelp in the room or I will wake up my wife. So I'm walking around a sleeping Pismo looking for a cafe... Off in the distance I see lights and someone moving around in a business... It's a donut shop. Yay it opens at six AM. So I sat outside in the cold damp Pismo air for 15 minutes waiting for the shop to open. First world problems huh? But listen to this it is in walking distance of nearly anything you want to do in Pismo. You're only a hundred and eight steps from the Pacific Ocean. And you're about 300 steps from a liquor store LOL.... I wanted this to be a five star review, but I have to be honest. The noise and they lack of lobby during off hours kinda take those chances away. I'll stay again though. They have three apartments for rent so if I wake up early I can go into another room to get my Yelp on. read more

We have been going to this place for years and it's usually our go to spot when spending a mini vacation at Pismo! It's so close to the pier and popular eats. Literally just walk out the door and a couple of feet away it's all at your door step! The hotel is old fashioned and the elevators are the cutest! Sometimes you can check in an hour or two earlier! One thing we disliked is how paper thin the walls are and how noisy the bed is - I understand it's an older building so that's probably why but maybe an update in the beds would help! Highly recommend this place 100% but it gets booked so fast so make sure to book in advance! I'm check out day they also allow you to stay parked until the end of the day just in case you would like to spend it at the beach or restaurants. read more

No AC not worth the $200 that it cost. It is charming but we couldn't even get a refund because front desk is closed at 9pm. I'd rather stay at motel 6. Bed feels like I'm going to fall off too I don't recommend this to anyone. Maybe in the winter but not summer. read more

The wife and I were at Pismo yet again, and since the place we usually stayed had closed, I went to Yelp for something new...I wanted the heart of downtown, and PB Hotel came up. They had availability (during Spring Break, so this was a huge win), so pulled the trigger. They have a parking lot....but it takes a bit of driving around the block to get to it. Given what parking costs downtown, it's worth the hunt....but it IS a hunt. Checking in is quick and easy. Nice courtyard, nice lobby. Elevator is from 1762, but no big deal, it works. Rooms are nice sized and reasonably current. Breakfast is included....by breakfast, I mean cereal, milk, coffee, bad OJ. Luckily, there's quite a few real breakfast places around, so again, no big deal. What IS a big deal. This is 2018. WTF about having no WiFi in the rooms? Seriously....this is the first place I've stayed in fifteen years that doesn't have WiFi. In today's world, that's just about like having a private bathroom....you know, expected. While I like the location, this is so not happening again. read more

Great location and really nice room. Room's have ceiling fans, which I'm really happy about, gas fireplace's and all the other amenities. Only disappointing things for me was the price increase and no continental breakfast "because of the pandemic." We as a country have and are learning to navigate around the pandemic and have learned how to serve food and products carefully and safely. I get that it's a great excuse to up prices, which was done, but then bring back the coffee, fruit and pre package food. I've stayed in hotels that now give you a bag, looks like a mini or small gift bag, that includes a bag of instant oatmeal, a granola bar, a banana/apple, a muffin/pastry and you can grab on oj, milk and yogurt. Oh and the coffee and tea are always available. Easy! read more

Last minute booking....Here's why I'm giving this Hotel two stars. Btw it was my first and last time, unless it gets a REAL facelift. Because of it's prime location and for the $$$ price, room should be beautiful, even gorgeous!! The look of the hotel outside, should not match the room inside. You can still give a hotel a facelift without losing its historic charm. Supposedly, it's a "non smoking" hotel, but hallway smelled otherwise. The Room; as you open the door bed area and bathroom looked clean, but be careful sitting on the bed. The bed leaned a lot more to one side, worn out. It was ONLY ONE night and supposedly the last room, so I made it work. Thank goodness I had my own blankets and pillows! You could hear everything your neighbors were saying, watching and possibly doing, why even have walls at that point. Bottom of the door had a huge gap that you could actually see what kind of shoes the other guests were wearing. The TV with analog, I'm just going to stop here.. Highlight of my stay, the cool unique elevator and location. Oh! and the wonderful service at the hotel cafe. read more

Very cute room located in downtown Pismo feet away from the pier. The elevator was very cute and old. The room was very clean. Parking was great behind the hotel. The only down fall was the very loud wake up call at 6am from street cleaning and or trash TRUCK idk but all that traffic was horrible. read more

We loved the hotel for convenience, ease of check-in and location; price was amazing, staff was very polite. Worst "Hotel" I've ever stayed in, and I've stayed in a Days Inn before. If I could, I would give "Hotel Hell" -10. First No AC in the rooms. Called downstairs and asked if they would turn the AC on..he responded by saying "AC?" Then he said "Just open a window." Well it was 90+ outside so that made zero since. Lets start with the positive. Great location, friendly staff, clean rooms. Negative: If you want quiet, don't stay here. You can hear everything in the next room and above you. Also, the elevator door slams loudly and shakes the whole room. It's an older style with a regular door and an accordion style door. First time staying at this hotel! My husband is handicapped and they upgraded us to a two bedroom apartment. Everyone we met management, staff and front desk where friendly and accommodating! Felt like home for the three days we stayed. We definitely will return! The only thing for me that was missing Was a sitting area or a desk. I work a lot and I needed a place to sit and work . Stayed here a Friday- Sunday and was by far the best value for the location, walking distance to everything is a plus because the public parking is horrendous! The staff was very friendly and the night guard was quick to help by going up to the third floor to close the elevator door that a guest had left open so we can get to our room. I do agree that you can hear guests in their room while walking in the hallway but didn't hear any guests in our room, maybe because we had a corner room facing the Main Street. King room was more than enough space for the two of us and the room was very clean- no issues. Quick tip... if your room is the 3rd or 4th floor and your bathroom faces the freeway... close your bathroom door!!!! The sun will smack you in the face for a 6am wake up call. read more

The hotel might suck... but they also own these vacation suites that have the best balcony. The room we stayed at last weekend was 3 bedrooms (1 king, 2 queens) and a sofa bed in the living room. One bathroom was in the master bedroom, and another full bath out in the hall for everybody to share. It had a fully stocked kitchen - and everything looked newly renovated. The place was just okay - nothing fancy - but if you get the unit on the top floor, you get your own private patio/balcony thing that overlooks the beach! Across the street is Splash Cafe and Mo's... so we would get our food to go and relax on the balcony. If I were to estimate on square footage of the balcony... I'd guess 300-400 sq ft. It's big. It even has a couple lounge chairs, and a dining table with folding chairs. For 9 people, it ended up to be $90 per person for 2 nights. Pretty good! read more

Great place in the heart of Pismo Beach. Close to the water and right in the midst of all the shops, bars, etc. We had a suite with a fold out sofa and a separate bedroom. The bathroom was in the middle of these two rooms. Everything was clean and well maintained. And the lady at the front desk was super nice and very accommodating. They even let us park our motorcycles in the courtyard rather than out on the street. The elevator is old-school (in a good way) with the door and sliding collapsible gate. I truly hate this place. In a word: IT SMELLS. And, we were charged $150 a night!!! I can appreciate old beach town charm, but this hotel was the pits for accommodations and service. Accommodations: The room smelled, the blankets smelled, the carpet was soiled, the towels must have been 10 years old, there was no TV remote, just one small wall heater, so small one person had to get on the bed for a person to pass, one tiny closet with only 3 hangers, mold stains on the bathroom ceiling. "Service" (in quotes): There is NO STAFF at this hotel between 10 pm and 8 am!!!!!!! We are in the 21st century, and this isn't a charming little b&b. This is a regular hotel, where the staff just leaves you for the entire night! Toilet broke? Tough. Loud neighbors? Tough. Your card key decides not to work at 11:20 pm? Tough! We didn't even get an apology for the key card. The person at the front desk is probably about 20. Responsible for checking in, checking out, complaints, preparing the continental breakfast (meager selection of dried pastries and weak coffee), etc, etc. Please do NOT waste your money!!!! read more

Pros- A very short walk to the pier and beach. Free parking behind the hotel. Free WiFi. Close walking distance to plenty of restaurants and shops. Cons- The continental breakfast consists of granola, yogurt, store bought pastries/bagels and juice and coffee. The King Deluxe room is so small there's no table, chairs or desk. No in-room coffee pot, hair dryer, iron, ironing board or microwave. NO AIR CONDITIONING! We had to open the one, squeaky window to cool down the room. However, this also let in all the noises and cigarette smoke coming from the street. We've found hairs in bath, on the towels and carpet. Sunflower seeds and some type of small beads on the carpet as well. I suppose the vacuum has lost its suction? The walls are paper thin. We could hear the people above us and next to us. The lobby is shut down and locked up at 9 pm - 7am. Like, with an actual gate and padlock! What if a guest needed something? The back gate to the property was locked at 6pm! This hotel could really benefit from making small changes towards accommodating their guests. We will not be returning. read more

BEWARE of the 48hr notice cancellation policy. They did not inform me over the phone that they would charge the full amount $165 a night- they just charged the full amount the following work week. NOISY, NOT CLASSY. I was meeting some family at this hotel who stayed there for a night. They canceled after the first night because it was so noisy and couldn't get any sleep. I'm a local, wanted to get away from home for a couple days. Well, I chose the wrong damn hotel. Location is great, right in the middle of downtown. But the hotel itself really needs work. Elevator is janky as hell. Rooms are outdated and don't have any kind of decorative touch to them, just plain white walls. Had to get new keys a time or two. And then to top it off, Monday morning, I'm trying to sleep in a little bit before heading home back to reality, and there's loud bangs of someone doing some sort of construction on my floor at 7:30 AM!!!!!!!! Not worth the money at all. Wish I stayed somewhere else. I work across the street at the new hotel, the inn at the pier. If you want good location, go there and stay. Worth the extra money to get an actual nice hotel stay. This hotel is more like a motel, outdated and not worth the money. read more
