We ordered pulled pork and smoked Mac and cheese from the catering menu for our daughter's birthday party. Mike was personable and easy to work with...and even answered the phone when I called around 7am! The pulled pork was fantastic and the mac and cheese was also very good. I made the mistake of not mixing the mac and cheese when we first brought it home, so the top layer was pretty dry since a lot of the cheese sauce settled (my fault). The food was immaculate, I got the two meat combo with brisket and pulled pork. It also came with a side, I chose the pit beans as well as a cornbread muffin. My wife got the pig heaven that came with pulled pork, ribs, mac and cheese, coleslaw as well as a cornbread muffin. The service was amazing as well. The staff were so welcoming and caring, you would've thought you were in the south. We sat outside as well and it was very clean and well shaded. It's always good to find a bbq joint, but it's even better when you leave full and not disappointed. I got the beef and cheddar with pit beans. The pit beans were tasty but tasted more like a chili to me. It's still good. The sandwich was delicious. The brisket was lean but still had a little fat and lots of flavor. Their mayo had a nice tang, and the cheddar was ok, but their kc bbq sauce was fabulous. It had a slight sweetness, but it wasn't just a typical brown sugar sweetness. I'm not sure what it was, but it's very good. It's worth every penny i spent, and the owners were very friendly and chatted some with me while i was there. read more

Great mom and pop bbq spot. I had the brisket and the pork. Perfect mix of fat, tender and bursting with flavour. Bark on the brisket was delicious although personally I usually prefer the bark to be a bit harder. The beans had a nice kick to them and the slaw was crisp and light on the mayo. Cornbread was fantastic with a nice honey drizzle. Atmosphere was a delightful homage to jazz and despite my personal ignorance of the subject it was clear the owner follows their deep passions and have made something wonderful. Only reason for two stars is service! Now let me tell u bout the food lol. Ribs get no love. Cooked way to hard, they're over cooked on outside n undercooked on inside(onviously rushed). Chicken same deal. And the beans aren't even fully cooked! The Cole slaw(if u can call it that) is nothing more than wet cabbage no sauce at all just raw cabbage . Complete let down. And $35 for 4 ribs n half a small chicken with 2 small sides. I'd rather of gone to Arby's or Wendy's and I hate fast food ‍live n learn I guess!! My 3rd visit since they opened and it has yet to disappoint. A new BBQ establishment is always a reason to celebrate, and even more so in this area of town. Unfortunately, their grand opening coincided with the pandemic outbreak which certainly threw them into the beginning stages of a business unlike no other. Business appears to be managing along nicely, and they have taken all the necessary precautions to keep it moving in a safe manner. The offers featured throughout the week are inviting, and help promote their place. In time, their indoor, and outdoor seating arrangements will become available. I'm in love. Seriously, I think that they created the BBQ sundae just for me. It's so freaking delicious! It is a plastic cup filled with bbq heaven. Coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, onion straws and your choice of meat. Topped with one rib. My favorite variation is the pulled pork. The sampler platter is a great way to get a little bit of everything (when you don't like it all mixed together). It's a small restaurant (only two or three tables) but it's clean and inviting. Staff is friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this great place! read more

Home of the BBQ Sundae and the 3 Sundae challenge. Don't need all that though. I was not trying to kill myself that day. Went on Halloween day and they gave out little baggies with candy in them, super cute! I like how they have a little convenient store beverage fridge to choose your drinks. Good options too, got myself some Turner's Iced Tea. And also their own little desserts too! Tried a Pumpkin Parfait, delicious. Well no real meat combo meal except something called a Family meal where they offer portions way too much for 1 person. But they had "Platters" but they were just 1 meat meals, and you can choose how much meat. "Platters" through me off because I think of "Platter" as being related to "big" stuff but whatever. Grabbed some Brisket and Ribs, each "Platter" came with a side and a cornbread. Brisket with Mac and Cheese, Ribs with Pit Beans, A Regular corn bread and a Jalapeno Honey corn bread ........ it all fit on one tray, thats 2 "platters" on 1 tray, I'm losing it. So the Brisket was pretty good, different though. Not a very traditional flavor of brisket, more like a tangy flavor. And the cut was very different then what I'm used to. Not a lot of marbling, and the meat was very spongy rather than stingy and tough fleshy, you can kind of see what I'm talking about in my picture of it. It was good though, I enjoyed it, I don't think anyone wouldn't enjoy it but it was different. Ribs didn't have much meat on them and they were doused in sauce. Sauce made it taste more like Asian ribs though. The meat on them was flavored a little too much like that too. Again, not bad and no one would be honestly disappointed. Mac and Cheese was ... brutal honesty the worst I've ever had. But I think it's because they try to smoke the mac and cheese and it comes out tasting like burnt plastic. Maybe if the cheese itself was a smoked cheese then it would be okay, but I hate to say it this place needs to fix something with the mac and cheese. I'm not even sure if not smoking the stuff would fix it because I tasted absolutely no cheese flavor in there at all, and it was the Sauce cheese too. Pit Beans were Great though! They are in Orange bean sauce. I could even see the zest of orange peel in the mix. Good mix of types of beans, bell peppers, onions, maybe even jalapenos, no meat though. But they have been cooking in this giant vat of flavor for so long the flavor is like a nice Orange glaze you would pour over a pork loin. I don't know if I would call it pit beans though if it has no meat in it. Corn bread was pretty good. No real difference between the two though other than the obvious little slice of jalapeno on top of the muffin. Little tiny muffin style but that's okay. Sauces were Excellent! "Headliner" original sweet sauce "What a Zinger" Tangy citrus style "Slapstick" Mustard. Original sauce was more thick than the other two but still very good. The other two poured quite well and I could tell there was a lot of home made elements to it. I could see the ingredients in the Tangy sauce, it was awesome. So to wrap it up, Brisket was different but still good, Ribs were a different style too but good, Beans were orange sauce style but good, Mac and cheese needs too much work, Nice drink selection, nice dessert selection, friendly place with goodie halloween bags, "Platters". I give a 4 because I can tell they put a lot of work into this place and their food, they just have a different taste. Something tells me the Mac and Cheese was an off day thing. read more

Went there for dinner. Got the pulled pork. The meat was dry.. with pulled pork, you are supposed soak any pork pulled in their natural juices while in a warming tray or preferred crock pot. This way the meat is moist and flavorful. You can't cut corners. I got bits of hard crusty pork in my sandwich. The ribs were tough! You can appreciate a hard crusty outside seasoning, but you want the ribs to have fall off the bone tenderness, WHICH THESE DID NOT HAVE! the meat was tough, and did not make me want to come back for more or recommend this place. The owners really need to do their homework. The baked beans were way too spicy! When you are dealing with a customer base that is unknown, offer baked beans mild or spicy, beans are cheap! You won't lose a lot of money! Trial and error, see what your customers rave about. Had a gift card given to me so i thought i would give them a try. read more

I have only ever had food delivered from here. But for a major part of the end of the pandemic I was getting food from Pit Take at least once a week. Great little place for a BBQ craving fix. Absolutely delicious. The meats are all like butter and just melt in your mouth. The corn bread is really good too. The cole slaw is amazing for any cole slaw connoisseur. If you prefer mac n cheese I highly suggest their smoked mac n cheese. So good! read more

I was very excited to try this place based on all the good reviews and am new to the area and love trying local places but it did not live up to the standards you guys set. My girlfriend and I ordered the 2 meat combo (Brisket and chicken) with a side of pit beans, extra cornbread,( we both love cornbread so we knew we wouldn't share) and for desert banana pudding. The cornbread was cold like it was refrigerated and dry, you could make better with jiffy. The brisket was amazing I'll say but I only got two slices the sizes of bacon. My girlfriends pulled chicken was only 3 spoons worth, unseasoned and very dry. I'm not a fan of black eye peas so I'm probably biased but that's all the pit beans were in soup. The Banana pudding was great and well worth the $4, overall the food wasn't bad it just did not live up to the hype. read more

Love Pit Take BBQ! I've eaten here several times since they opened. They run amazing specials and I love the Taco Tuesday specials! Any time they do brisket or burnt end tacos, you need to go! I really like the brisket and the various sauces they offer. The Mac n cheese is good, but I wish it had a bit more pizzazz or smokey flavor. The jalepeno cornbread is good, but I like spicy, and it isn't super spicy. It does have a good flavor though. Staff is friendly and orders are always filled quickly. Stopped in for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised. Ordered the 1/2 lb. pulled pork with cole slaw and a piece of honey-jalapeno corn bread. Overall, very impressed. The barbecue was delicious, definitely a sweeter taste/tang to it, but just to my liking. The meat was delicious! Not an overly thick bbq sauce. I'm a fan of the cole slaw. Some places get it right; others don't. (For reference, I enjoy KFC's cole slaw.) All in all, I enjoyed my food. A friend of mine and I sat outside and ate. Tables are along a busy road, so it's not the most pleasant outdoor seating situation, but it was beautiful afternoon, so we couldn't complain. There are many solid options for barbeque in our town of Greensburg, and this ranks up there with Dominick's in my book. Slight edge to Dominick's though. While I admit that I am no BBQ expert, I will say that I have had my fair share of variety of bbq. Pit Take BBQ certainly serves up some of the best! Not only do they do your typical bbq dishes, like pulled pork, ribs, brisket, and even burnt ends, but they also offer up a wide variety of other dishes with a bbq twist! They have half chickens, tacos, and even BBQ egg rolls! They also have some amazing sides from yummy, creamy coleslaw to some delicious smoked Mac n cheese. Top it all off with their amazing cornbread, both traditional and jalapeño honey, and you're all set.
