    Sea bass taco

Tried this spot for the first time and loved it. The food was very good and the views amazing. Tried the falafel wrap loved it, lots of flavor and the falafel was made perfectly. Also tried the sea bass tacos had to be my favorite. Coming back again for sure and gonna get the sea bass. If you haven't tried here and driving by you should.

Stopped by for a quick lunch on my way through. Great fish tacos! Very fresh and excellent flavor combination. Limited menus and outdoor seating, but well worth the stop.

I'm convinced everything here is delicious. Fantastic service as well. Everyone is so friendly. From the cashier to the bus boy.

Deconstructed Falafel plate and pint orders of Hummus, Baba Ganoush, Tabbouleh

Wish I had better photos as the food was exceptionally good, and pictures show only leftovers. The restaurant recently opened located below Chabad of Malibu and this order was to go. This place is super casual, across the parking lot for Malibu Pier, they take online orders or at the counter. The falafel plate was even better than homemade, this is like gourmet falafel starting with the side salads to the carefully made small bites of falafel. It comes with REAL Israeli pita, mixed micro greens salad, tahini dressing, Shuk salad -Israeli chopped tomato cucumber , Schug similar to a Chimichrri sauce. Other things I ordered: Tabbouleh salad, good, but needed bit more lemon and olive oil, they make a gluten free version with quinoa just for Malibu, purists may frown upon but I didn't mind Hummus, truly excellent in freshness with delicious tahini creaminess Baba Ganoush, is best in LA and reminds me of my grandmother's with heavy roasted smoky eggplant flavor, creamy and yet chunky The pita bread is authentic and was prepared fresh for my order. Definitely coming again, good job chef and hope to see more items on the menu

Our server was friendly, attentive, and made the experience enjoyable. The ocean view and beautiful atmosphere are definitely the highlights of this restaurant. It's a gorgeous place for a special dinner, especially around sunset. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is mainly because of the seating situation and the unexpected surcharge. We asked if we could sit at a table next to the glass window with a better ocean view. We completely understand that those tables may not always be available, and we weren't expecting special treatment. However, when we asked one of the hosts about an ocean-view table, the communication was not very clear, and the table we were moved to was not what we had requested. What was more disappointing was surcharge. We honestly didn't understand what the surcharge was for, and no one clearly explained it to us. It felt unnecessary, especially since we were simply trying to get the table we had asked about in the first place. If there is a surcharge, I think customers should be clearly informed about what it is for before being charged. That said, the food, drinks, server, and beautiful Malibu setting were all excellent. We really enjoyed our dinner and would come back again.

Really fun ambiance, they have live music and they even had a dancer at one point which was super fun to see. She comes around to all areas of the restaurant so everyone can take a look. You get one round of house bread and their house dip complimentary. And for a group of 4 it was plenty enough. Their slices of bread are THICK. The house dip is light and fluffy. It's made with garlic and a slew of other ingredients. We ordered a few appetizers because we were only lightly hungry. The fried calamari was delicious, it's a typical calamari dish but it was still good. We also got the dolmas with ground beef. Woah, I've never seen such huge dolmas before! I'm used to smaller more tightly wrapped ones. They were great though! They had kind of a buttery flavor. Others split the spanakopita and seemed to enjoy it. Fun time and fun ambiance! Good service too. Solid place for a night out.

The restaurant does have its own parking, but that tends to fill up pretty quick. Would recommend passing the restaurant and parking on the right side of the road though there is a bridge that goes underground if you park on the other side. The staff was very friendly, and there was a long line just to order. Went with The, fish and chips, to tacos and ceviche. The fish and chips were the best part. The fish is decent sized and the fries were amazing. Crispy outside with a baked potato inside. I did not try the CVA that my friend did not care for it very much. He did mention that the ingredients refresh, but the flavor profile was not to his like. Recommend getting the three-piece fish and chips to share with somebody. It does get kind of pricey if you order everything à la carte. The views are amazing and definitely appreciate the filtered water station by the patio tables. Very family, friendly, lots of people enjoying the weather and outdoor seating.

The portions are large, but the food itself is pretty bland, under-seasoned, and just doesn't have much flavor. What really bothered me, though, was how I was treated during my most recent visit. I stopped in to use the restroom and asked an employee for the code. The restaurant was practically empty. She immediately asked if I had ordered anything and pointed out that the restroom was for customers only. I explained that I have eaten here multiple times before and have been a paying customer. Instead of simply helping me, she told me I would have to purchase something that day in order to use the restroom. I understand that businesses can have restroom policies. What I did not appreciate was the rude and dismissive way the situation was handled, especially in front of another person at the register. It was embarrassing and completely unnecessary. As someone who works nearby and has spent money here several times, this experience left a very bad impression on me. I also work with people who sometimes eat in this area, and unfortunately I can no longer feel comfortable recommending this place. Big portions do not make up for mediocre food and poor customer service.

We arrived with our children and were told the restaurant was completely full. We completely understood that and did not expect them to magically find us a table. We explained very politely that we are not from the area, we eat strictly kosher, and unfortunately there were no other realistic options nearby. All we asked was if they could make a few simple burgers to go for our family. No table, no service, no special accommodation. Just a few burgers to take with us. The answer was simply no. What bothered us most was not that the restaurant was full. We understand that businesses get busy. What was disappointing was the complete lack of willingness to help a family with children who had very limited options. We were respectful, patient, and asked very nicely. Hospitality is not only about serving customers when everything is convenient. Sometimes it is about showing a little humanity when someone genuinely needs help. A few burgers to go would have made a huge difference to our family and probably taken very little effort. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome and extremely disappointed. A little compassion and flexibility would have gone a long way

And in a way, that's exactly what El Sancho Cantina is: an escape. A secret. A little taste of something else. Whether you slide in for lunch, happy hour, or dinner, El Sancho is where you come to cheat on your routine. Tucked into Thousand Oaks, it's a getaway hidden in plain sight. Sit at the bar, let the cool breeze drift through, and allow the Spanish ballads to work their magic. For a moment, you'll forget where you are--and believe you've wandered into a dreamy cantina somewhere deep in Mexico. Start with the "El Viejo"--their riff on an Old Fashioned. Let the applewood smoke swirl above the glass as you lean in. The aroma hits first, then the deep flavors of añejo tequila and Mexican whiskey settle in with smooth confidence. Sip slow. This isn't a race--it's a seduction. If you're looking for something a little lighter--a healthy balance between indulgence and intention--try the two taco plate with the green salad substitution. I went for one Potato taco, one Shredded Chicken taco, and swapped out the rice and beans for a salad of mixed greens and cucumber, dressed with balsamic vinaigrette and a squeeze of fresh lime. The flavors were bright, clean, and satisfying. I walked away full--but not heavy. If I was meeting my Sancha after, I could've easily gone for a stroll. Maybe even dessert. But don't let me lead you down the wrong path--the tacos and cocktails are already all the temptation you need. And if that post-lunch lull starts to creep in, fight back with the "El Cafecito"--a soulful wake-up call of Licor 43, Kahlúa, cold brew coffee, and chocolate bitters. My personal pick over an espresso martini--bold, smooth, and unapologetically delicious. So yes, you might be cheating on SoCal for an hour with Mexico vibes, but El Sancho doesn't judge. In fact, it invites you back--with open arms, a strong pour, and just the right amount of trouble.
