The food was good. The service was not bad. Yet I personally didn't like the ambiance there.

Wonderful Brunch Spot! Excellent view, food, and service! It's been a long while since we have been to Geoffrey's. It's a it of a drive from Long Beach, but for a special occasion, well worth it! If you live or are visiting locally (Malibu or Santa Monica), easy and pretty drive North on PCH. Our adult son made our reservation in Open Table and noted it was for a special occasion, a Birthday (mine). Nowadays, that note is rarely recognized by restaurants and most use Open Table for their reservations! Upon arrival at the hostess station, we were asked who's birthday and said Happy Birthday, and again by the Hostess that brought us to our table, and then by our sever. I felt so special and acknowledged! It's these small gestures that truly make the difference and a very lasting impression! Casey was our server and he was excellent. Helped to make suggestions and answer questions. Checked back often with each course to make sure everything was as expected. The other staff helping to serve and bus, very friendly and helpful. For drinks, I ordered a Mimosa and my husband and son both ordeted cappuccino, all excellent. They have an excellent cocktail and wine menu. Rolls came out piping hot, nice touch! For appetizers, we started with Crab Cakes and Heirloom Tomatoes with Burrata. Burrata is house made and it shows! Both were so good and I would highly recommend ordering. They have many great options for starters! For entrees, I ordered the Chocolate Chip Challah French Toast. It came with Chicken Sausage and Frsh Fruit. Too much to eat after appetizers (generous portions) but happily took some home. The chicken sausage was very good. First time I have had chicken sausage and liked it! Our son ordered The Eggs Benedict (with prosciutto). He lived the Hollandaise saucen had a kick. I tried his potaoes, red roasted and very good. He also had fresh fruit with his entree. It was the first time we had fruit in more than a week (the parasite scare!) and it was wonderful to have fruit one knew was freshly cut (rinds still attached) and tasted so wonderful, really missed it! My husband ordered the Hangar Steak and Eggs. He absolutely loved the steak and the accompanying Avocado Cilantro! There are so any great options for Brunch Entrees, hard to choose but think.we chose well. We had absolutely no room for dessertsn although the dessert menu looks wonderful! Birthday cake awaiting at home! Our server, Casey, brought out a scoop of Vanilla Bean, house made, with a candle. Again, very nice touch and another way to recognize my birthday! It was delicious! Dinner menu looks wonderful and they have a nice bar area. Wouldn't hesitate to stop by for a deink if I was in the area! The views are absolutely stunning. The restaurant opens up completely the outdoors (sliding glass doors) and has a spacious patio with lots of umbrellas to produce great shade! I wanted to share my disappointment regarding my birthday dinner at your restaurant Saturday night July 25th @5pm. We spent nearly $500, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet the expectations we had for such a special occasion. The ocean view was a beautiful view, but the food didn't match the price or the occasion. I was surprised that the New York steak was served with french fries and that you didn't have baked potatoes. It felt like something you get at a casual restaurant then a fine dining steakhouse, and the filet mignon was served with two pieces of asparagus. The Watermelon salad was simply plain and the watermelon wasn't even sweet!!! Everything Was served out of a bag, the arugula, slivered almonds and feta!! Simply plain!! Nothing fancy!! I have to say the crabcakes were excellent on a beautiful presentation and the dessert was absolutely delicious and that was the best part of the meal!! I don't like comparing restaurants, but at many other places we've celebrated birthdays, the staff has gone out of their way to make the guest of honor feel special. There is usually some acknowledgment, attentive service throughout the meal, and an overall experience that feels like a celebration. Sadly, none of that happened during our visit. I do want to recognize our waitress, who was the only server covering the entire patio. She worked incredibly hard and did an amazing job despite having so many tables to manage. She was not the issue. However, I was disappointed by another female staff member who was serving the black pepper. I simply asked for extra pepper on my steak, and she appeared irritated and walked away abruptly, which felt unprofessional and left a negative impression. Overall, there was nothing special about the dinner presentation or atmosphere that made my birthday feel special. Geoffrey's is one of those restaurants I keep coming back to about once a year. Every time I visit, the breathtaking ocean view makes me feel like I can finally take a deep breath. It's such a peaceful and beautiful place. I've tried quite a few of their seafood dishes over the years, and they've consistently been excellent. On this visit, we came for lunch and ordered the corn soup, crab cakes, Chilean sea bass, and skirt steak. Every single dish was delicious, especially the sea bass and crab cakes. One of my favorite Saturday plans is having a relaxing lunch at Geoffrey's and then taking a stroll through the Getty Villa afterward. Our server Little miss attitude (Seemed to only be focused on me ur table) was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I asked for suggestions for brunch and was told "How can I recommend anything, I don't know what you like" Along with "Look at the tables around you and see what you like" then "I'm a vegan" WTH. We made reservations for dinner while visiting Malibu. Our seat had amazing views overlooking the water, it was nice to have the heaters as it was a bit chilly the day of our reservation. Our server was great with good wine recommendations based on the steaks we ordered. We started with oysters, I loved the East Coast oysters, they were so flavorful and perfectly shucked. We both ordered steaks which were perfectly cooked and had such great flavor. It was a lovely meal with amazing views. If you're lucky, they'll seat you closer to the edge so you have a better view, otherwise it's not a great view of the beach or anything except the sky haha. Food was decent, a little pricey for what it is but you're here for the vibes more than anything. Cant complain about service, the hostess, waiter, and valet were all nice. Unfortunately the only parking option will be valet so have that extra cost ready. They do allow you to pay for validation with your bill, so that's convenient. Great wonderful classy casual location for a memorable birthday or any celebration for that matter or for no reason at all. Beautiful setting against the backdrop of the deep Pacific Ocean, clear blue skies as the sunsets into the west. Food was just as exquisite as the ambiance. Perfectly cooked lobster, salmon and paella. Crustacean was tender and flaky. Drinks are strong especially the martinis The initial serving of bread and their churned/whipped butter was a nice welcome touch. If you get there early (and you should), head down to the beach for a relaxing walk or sit down right before dinner. Reason I give only 4 out of 5 stars is due to the hostess (Not the girl who showed us our table though). The very first person we see at the entrance and there was absolutely no smile, no warmth, not welcoming at all. Just cold and robotic. Cute place to grab breakfast/brunch with a view in the heart of Malibu. We tried: jumbo coconut shrimp & lobster cobb salad this time. Jumbo coconut shrimp was probably the best coconut shrimp I've had. The lobster Cobb was also very good- a simple salad with fresh lobster on top. Valet parking only it's easy to miss the entrance. So, I was hosting two very beautiful models from Texas. They had asked me to enjoy some time at the beach and to have a very nice early dinner. Obviously, I knew just the perfect spot. I took them to Geoffrey's and it was the best experience for both of them! So, while I waited, they went and did their photos at the actual beach access. During that time, I had the absolute pleasure of interacting with Geoffrey's best server, Miss Arkia (please forgive me if I didn't spell your name correctly). She had a full section and yet, made time to offer me water and provide an amazing level of customer care. She is absolutely INCREDIBLE! I also had the honor of meeting two of the Managers, Allan and a lovely blonde Manager, who I'm afraid that I didn't her get name. I'm so sorry, as both of them deserve proper recognition. So friendly, professional and welcoming. Our server was Marci and she was very nice. We loved everything that we ordered. This included the carb cakes, fried oysters and a chicken Caesar salad. One of my guests had some very specific dietary restrictions and Marci made it happen. Shout out to the entire Geoffrey's team, who made my visitors understand why Malibu and their restaurant is so special. Arkia, you are the absolute best representative of the entire organization! The appeal of Geoffrey's is the view that makes all your problems dissolve, and the buzz of comforting chatter. My party had made a reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, which we spent at the bar. For such an upscale restaurant, the bar was underwhelming and had limited chairs. Highlights included a phenomenal lychee martini and the bread. May be a bit unfair of a rating, because other members of my party enjoyed their mains. As for mine, the paella was visually beautiful, but it did not taste as I expected. One unexpected moment was when my waiter lost my credit card. Although they tried to remedy the situation, it was very unprofessional, especially because I was traveling, and it put me out a bit. My dad had the crab cake eggs benedict, my mom had the tofu salad, and I had the chicken piccata with a strawberry lemonade. All of the food was good, but honestly I think the chicken piccata at The Cheesecake Factory is better. Oh... and the dessert, crème brûlée, was so good. This place is great for an upscale lunch or dinner with a beautiful ocean view. It was such a lovely time. I came here to celebrate my mom's birthday yesterday. We had a great time, the restaurant is gorgeous, the views are amazing. The food came out perfect and it was so delicious. But what stood out the most was the amazing service, from the start the valet were great. Then the hostess were so friendly and welcoming. But the star of the night was our server. He was spectacular! He has longer hair, a beard, and light eyes. He was so incredibly sweet to my mother and so attentive to us. He had amazing recommendations and was very professional. When our kids are home for the holidays, they always choose a place to take us for brunch. They have great memories coming to Geoffrey's since they were toddlers so it's quite nostalgic for them. Needless to say, the husband and I were so happy that they chose Geoffrey's this year. With the recent rain we were a bit worried that it would be too wet or overcast. It was not! It turned out to be an absolutely perfect sunny, clear day. It seems that many people were worried about the weather as well because the place stayed fairly empty for our entire visit. We have not had this experience for years. The menu has remained consistent -- we all selected our favorites. It was all quite delicious although everyone agreed that the rosemary rolls have gotten smaller and a bit denser. Marcie was our server -- she was exceptional. We visited Geoffrey's in Malibu for Father's Day and were seated for their three-course prix fixe menu. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to either the reputation or the price point. The meal started on a disappointing note with the watermelon salad. The watermelon was underripe and lacked flavor, and no salt, pepper, or fresh ground pepper was offered to help improve the dish. In fact, condiments were not brought to the table until the main course arrived. My tofu entrée was well prepared and was the strongest part of the meal. For cocktails, I ordered a Manhattan served up and was surprised to find it garnished with a bright red maraschino cherry, something I would expect from a casual bar rather than a restaurant of this caliber. My second drink, an Old Fashioned, was served with a more appropriate cherry garnish. The service issues were more concerning than the food. Our bill for three people came to just under $500, with each guest having only two drinks. The check included both a valet fee and a service fee, which led us to reasonably assume gratuity had already been included. After payment, our waiter chased down the gentleman in our party to inform him that an additional tip had not been added. He then added a gratuity on top of the service fee and valet charge. The situation should have ended there, but while we were waiting for our car, another staff member approached us and insisted that he had taken the wrong receipt. He explained that he had only taken his customer copy and that the signed receipt had been left behind. She continued to insist otherwise until I told her that the waiter had already taken the correct receipt and that she needed to speak with him directly. She eventually acknowledged that the waiter had not communicated the situation to her. Being approached multiple times over a settled check was uncomfortable, unnecessary, and left a poor final impression. Adding to the disappointment, the restaurant was aware that we were celebrating a birthday. The hostess acknowledged it upon arrival, yet there was no recognition during the meal--no complimentary dessert, no birthday message, and no gesture of any kind for the guest of honor. Geoffrey's undeniably offers beautiful ocean views, and that is the restaurant's greatest asset. However, for nearly $500 for three guests, the food and service did not justify the cost. Between the underwhelming opening course, confusing billing interactions, and lack of attention to a special occasion that had been noted in advance, the experience felt overpriced and surprisingly subpar. This seaside restaurant has incredible ocean views. We've always had great food here, but on this visit it missed a beat. We've never seen it as busy as this visit and I will show them grace as they were completely full with graduates. Service by Austin and his associates was polished. My food was especially disappointing. The crab cake on the Benedict was flat as a pancake and barely warm, so were the roasted potatoes. The accompanying fruit was fresh. The salmon looked amazing, as did the scallops. Chicken piccata was a bit dry and didn't have much lemony flavor. Geoffrey's was wonderful! We had an ocean view outdoor table that was cozy and intimate to celebrate our engagement. Staff was very kind and prompt with service. We didn't feel rushed or pressured to order anything. Our server was very helpful when modifying menu options and responsive to questions. He even gave us a cute candle to celebrate and took our photo. Food was exceptional! The portion size was very reasonable and all our food was prepared well. The bread that came out before the meal was delightful. The bar made some of the best cocktails we have had. I really enjoyed our celebratory meal! I would highly recommend checking this place out. We even asked for the same server we saw in the Heyla video, and the service was just as amazing as it looked! Of course the views are unparalleled. Food is delicious. Disappointing to be told "we have a 2 hour limit on seating" and then not move the service along at all. We basically had to race at the end and still couldn't get out of there in the 2 hour time limit becomes it took almost an hour from handing the waiter the credit card right after we ordered dessert to when he finally rang us up. The most amazing experience I had for my birthday as a seafood and ocean lover that it had me crying at the end. The servers were so professional and amusing as they tried to guess my age. We were seated outdoors where the patio was lit by bonfire and fairy lights, giving it an intimate and comfy feeling. Honestly one of the worst experiences I've ever had with completely awful food. I refused to eat here again after our first time here, but my girlfriend is more forgiving and tried to give them a second (and recently to my dismay, a 3rd...) chance. This is the final straw for the both of us. Her last time she ate there (this past week), there were literal pieces of shell in her eggs (pic below). The steak was made medium well instead of medium rare as requested and after she showed them the eggs with shells in it, along with the overcooked steak, instead of recooking both the steak and eggs, they only recooked the eggs. She noted that her avocado had some strange artificial lemon flavor added to it that made it unappetizing. The pico de gallo lacked flavor altogether. Upon this ridiculous mishap messing up the steak preparation and shells in the eggs, you'd think they would offer something as a condolence to this, but they shockingly offered nothing, which was pretty bewildering. There are a ton of great places around the Malibu area, this one should be AVOIDED at all costs, as they clearly only care about your money and not about the experience you have dining with them. I usually don't write reviews but I feel that I have to this time because this experience was so disappointing. What should have been a special birthday dinner turned into one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. It started with the tuna tartare, which came with exactly three chips. When we asked for a few more so we could actually finish the dish, we were told we'd have to buy another order of chips if we wanted any more. Charging extra for a handful of chips on an already expensive appetizer was not a great way to start a meal. Then came the filet, which we ordered medium rare. It arrived so overcooked it was nearly impossible to cut with our steak knives. Instead of simply fixing an obvious mistake, we were told a manager had to approve taking it back, leaving us waiting while the rest of the meal sat. The replacement was somehow even worse, a grey, unappetizing piece of meat that looked nothing like a quality filet....which they charged $70 for by the way. My sea bass wasn't any better and tasted like a frozen fillet. For nearly $300, this was an embarrassing dining experience. Between the poor quality, the unnecessary hassle over an obviously overcooked steak, the second piece being even worse and charging extra for a few chips, this restaurant completely missed the mark. We did not feel welcomed by the hosts. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. However, we were put very far away from everyone else because we have dogs. They were a corgi and a chihuahua. They stayed under our table and were on leash, and well behaved. We were sprayed with water by the gardener. My mini kelly was wet and I was a little upset but i decided to just wiped it off and let it go. Then, I overheard the hostess directed the customers to walk another way to avoid our table. The oysters were good but seemed like it was just one variety. There was no description of where the oysters were from. The coconut shrimp was also great. Title: Extremely Disappointed After 20 Years of Loyalty As a local and loyal customer of Geoffrey's for over 20 years, I've celebrated countless milestones here with family and friends. However, my experience today, on my own birthday, was deeply disappointing. This was the first time a birthday celebration was planned for me at Geoffrey's, and sadly, it turned out to be a disaster. We were seated at an uncomfortable table with minimal ocean views and heavy foot traffic from the waitstaff. When we noticed a better table available, we politely asked to be moved but were told it was being held for a party of five. That party later turned out to be a group of three, waiting on two more guests. When the table next to us opened, we asked again, but it was given to a tourist family instead. Despite asking multiple times, no effort was made to accommodate us. We brought our concerns to the manager, Sharon, several times. Each time we were met with excuses instead of solutions. For a restaurant that has built its name on exceptional service, this was incredibly disheartening. We waited over an hour for our food, while the table seated well after us was served before us. When we asked why, the manager said we had ordered too many appetizers, which was simply not true. We had only ordered one watermelon salad and had specifically told our waiter to place the order right away since the children were hungry. Later, we were told the delay was because my salmon had to be remade. The explanations were inconsistent and dismissive. We ordered pasta and chicken for the kids, my salmon, and French toast. The food was good and helped offset the experience slightly, but it did not make up for the poor service and lack of hospitality. What was most disappointing was that after everything, nothing was done to acknowledge my birthday or make the experience feel special. Not even a dessert was offered or comped. When I mentioned that I would likely leave a Yelp review, the manager simply said, "Go ahead and Yelp," with a dismissive tone that showed zero care for guest satisfaction. As someone who works in hospitality and understands ADA and fire hazard protocols, I was particularly disturbed by the excuses given for denying a simple table change. I hesitated to write this review because of how many wonderful experiences I have had here in the past, but this one cannot be ignored. Management needs to be reevaluated. The level of service we received today does not align with the standards Geoffrey's was once known for. At this point, I don't think I would go back. And to my Malibu family, we may need to reconsider this place altogether. read more

This place would be a 5/5 and let me explain. We were here for valentines day celebration and all the food and ambiance was nothing short of amazing. We ordered 3 appetizers which were delicious and topped it off with the 16 oz Ribeye that was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Near the end of the dinner when the plates were collected the knives and forks fell from the plate and spilled over me without any apology or comment after. I would just recommend that the service here doesn't rush when things get busy, as I had to go on the day with the stain caused by the incident. If you are reading these reviews management, just know that food/ambiance is great, but its not worth rushing to compromise the quality of service. read more

A wonderful place to go for Valentine's Day! They were VERY busy for the holiday. Had a pre fixe menu and a 2 hour time limit. Valet was included in the price! Absolutely beautiful restaurant. The service was phenomenal, Jackie was so attentive and kind. Food tasted great! Felt so romantic and intimate, would definitely come back to try their regular menu. read more
