Geoffrey's was wonderful! We had an ocean view outdoor table that was cozy and intimate to celebrate our engagement. Staff was very kind and prompt with service. We didn't feel rushed or pressured to order anything. Our server was very helpful when modifying menu options and responsive to questions. He even gave us a cute candle to celebrate and took our photo. Food was exceptional! The portion size was very reasonable and all our food was prepared well. The bread that came out before the meal was delightful. The bar made some of the best cocktails we have had. I really enjoyed our celebratory meal! I would highly recommend checking this place out. They do valet parking and add it to your check. The staff was very nice. The restaurant was clean. And the views are show stopping (I was too shocked to take any pictures,but Instagram doesn't lie!) . This seaside restaurant has incredible ocean views. We've always had great food here, but on this visit it missed a beat. We've never seen it as busy as this visit and I will show them grace as they were completely full with graduates. Service by Austin and his associates was polished. My food was especially disappointing. The crab cake on the Benedict was flat as a pancake and barely warm, so were the roasted potatoes. The accompanying fruit was fresh. The salmon looked amazing, as did the scallops. Chicken piccata was a bit dry and didn't have much lemony flavor. The appeal of Geoffrey's is the view that makes all your problems dissolve, and the buzz of comforting chatter. My party had made a reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated, which we spent at the bar. For such an upscale restaurant, the bar was underwhelming and had limited chairs. Highlights included a phenomenal lychee martini and the bread. May be a bit unfair of a rating, because other members of my party enjoyed their mains. As for mine, the paella was visually beautiful, but it did not taste as I expected. One unexpected moment was when my waiter lost my credit card. Although they tried to remedy the situation, it was very unprofessional, especially because I was traveling, and it put me out a bit. All in all, a decent evening, but the low points tend to linger longer than the high ones. I wouldn't rush back. read more

He made a reservation at Geoffrey's Malibu and sent me an invitation link for Sunday brunch. Oh yeah... Geoffrey's Malibu is one of my favorite restaurants. Who doesn't love an ocean view? Haha. We also had a family brunch here last year on Father's Day. Geoffrey's is still the best, especially on a beautiful, clear, sunny day in Malibu. I had the seafood paella and a cappuccino, and my boyfriend had an omelette and a mimosa. The paella portion was very large, but honestly it wasn't that tasty. But the ocean view is absolutely lovely. (3/19/2023 - Sunday Brunch) I also came here with my parents for a Father's Day celebration. We had lunch here on Monday, June 13th, 2022. I took a day off that day, and it turned out to be such a great day. The view and the music created a wonderful ambiance. The atmosphere was perfect. The ocean view and the short walk to the beach were amazing. I especially loved the ocean-view seating. My dad had the crab cake eggs benedict, my mom had the tofu salad, and I had the chicken piccata with a strawberry lemonade. All of the food was good, but honestly I think the chicken piccata at The Cheesecake Factory is better. Oh... and the dessert, crème brûlée, was so good. This place is great for an upscale lunch or dinner with a beautiful ocean view. It was such a lovely time. When our kids are home for the holidays, they always choose a place to take us for brunch. They have great memories coming to Geoffrey's since they were toddlers so it's quite nostalgic for them. Needless to say, the husband and I were so happy that they chose Geoffrey's this year. With the recent rain we were a bit worried that it would be too wet or overcast. It was not! It turned out to be an absolutely perfect sunny, clear day. It seems that many people were worried about the weather as well because the place stayed fairly empty for our entire visit. We have not had this experience for years. The menu has remained consistent -- we all selected our favorites. It was all quite delicious although everyone agreed that the rosemary rolls have gotten smaller and a bit denser. Marcie was our server -- she was exceptional. She anticipated our needs and handled the smallest details. With no crowd, fantastic weather and the glistening ocean as the backdrop -- we had an absolutely beautiful time! read more

This place would be a 5/5 and let me explain. We were here for valentines day celebration and all the food and ambiance was nothing short of amazing. We ordered 3 appetizers which were delicious and topped it off with the 16 oz Ribeye that was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Near the end of the dinner when the plates were collected the knives and forks fell from the plate and spilled over me without any apology or comment after. I would just recommend that the service here doesn't rush when things get busy, as I had to go on the day with the stain caused by the incident. If you are reading these reviews management, just know that food/ambiance is great, but its not worth rushing to compromise the quality of service. read more

My wife and I went to Geoffrey's for a Valentine's Day brunch. The service was amazing-- our sever was attentive, kind, and very friendly. He made us feel very welcome and was the best part of our experience. The ambiance and view was also great -- an ocean view with lots of plants and greenery was a very pleasant setting for a Saturday lunch. The food was not very good at all -- we got the tuna tartare, which was ok. A little bit too much sauce and the tuna wasn't very fresh tasting. I got the Chilean sea bass, which was also just ok. The fish wasn't very high quality and the pineapple on top tasted like it was from a can. My wife got the filet mignon with Chimichurri sauce. The filet was really bad -- it tasted boiled. The Chimichurri sauce was more of an oil than a Chimichurri -- you could get something much better from the local grocery store. For something with such a high price point and pristine location, you'd expect the food to be a looooot better. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I feel it's important to share. To start with the positives, because there were some, the service was outstanding. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, attentive, and professional. Our espresso martinis were excellent, and my fiancée's food was genuinely great. She had the seabass, which was perfectly prepared, and oysters that were fresh and enjoyable. Unfortunately, my meal was a completely different story. I ordered the hanger steak with scrambled eggs, and both were overwhelmingly salty. The steak was over-seasoned to the point of being barely edible, and the eggs were so salty they were simply not edible at all. I tried to push through because I know I'm someone who watches sodium and restaurant food can sometimes taste saltier, but this was far beyond that. This was excessive. The guacamole and pico de gallo also tasted like they had been sitting out far too long, clearly not fresh and likely from the day before. I ended up sending the food back, something I almost never do. I wasn't expecting a full refund, but I was surprised that there was no effort made to offer any kind of discount. To be fair to our server, I didn't make a big scene, I simply said the food was too salty to eat. In hindsight, I probably should have taken the offer to have it remade, but at that point my appetite was gone. What made it worse is that I left the restaurant still hungry and really disappointed. It's especially unfortunate because we had actually been considering this restaurant for an upcoming graduation reception. After this experience, that's completely off the table. We won't be returning. It's frustrating when a place can clearly execute well in some areas but completely miss the mark in others. I truly hope this was just an off day, but based on this visit, I can't justify giving it another chance. read more

Honestly one of the worst experiences I've ever had with completely awful food. I refused to eat here again after our first time here, but my girlfriend is more forgiving and tried to give them a second (and recently to my dismay, a 3rd...) chance. This is the final straw for the both of us. Her last time she ate there (this past week), there were literal pieces of shell in her eggs (pic below). The steak was made medium well instead of medium rare as requested and after she showed them the eggs with shells in it, along with the overcooked steak, instead of recooking both the steak and eggs, they only recooked the eggs. She noted that her avocado had some strange artificial lemon flavor added to it that made it unappetizing. The pico de gallo lacked flavor altogether. Upon this ridiculous mishap messing up the steak preparation and shells in the eggs, you'd think they would offer something as a condolence to this, but they shockingly offered nothing, which was pretty bewildering. There are a ton of great places around the Malibu area, this one should be AVOIDED at all costs, as they clearly only care about your money and not about the experience you have dining with them. Title: Extremely Disappointed After 20 Years of Loyalty As a local and loyal customer of Geoffrey's for over 20 years, I've celebrated countless milestones here with family and friends. However, my experience today, on my own birthday, was deeply disappointing. This was the first time a birthday celebration was planned for me at Geoffrey's, and sadly, it turned out to be a disaster. We were seated at an uncomfortable table with minimal ocean views and heavy foot traffic from the waitstaff. When we noticed a better table available, we politely asked to be moved but were told it was being held for a party of five. That party later turned out to be a group of three, waiting on two more guests. When the table next to us opened, we asked again, but it was given to a tourist family instead. Despite asking multiple times, no effort was made to accommodate us. We brought our concerns to the manager, Sharon, several times. Each time we were met with excuses instead of solutions. For a restaurant that has built its name on exceptional service, this was incredibly disheartening. We waited over an hour for our food, while the table seated well after us was served before us. When we asked why, the manager said we had ordered too many appetizers, which was simply not true. We had only ordered one watermelon salad and had specifically told our waiter to place the order right away since the children were hungry. Later, we were told the delay was because my salmon had to be remade. The explanations were inconsistent and dismissive. We ordered pasta and chicken for the kids, my salmon, and French toast. The food was good and helped offset the experience slightly, but it did not make up for the poor service and lack of hospitality. What was most disappointing was that after everything, nothing was done to acknowledge my birthday or make the experience feel special. Not even a dessert was offered or comped. When I mentioned that I would likely leave a Yelp review, the manager simply said, "Go ahead and Yelp," with a dismissive tone that showed zero care for guest satisfaction. As someone who works in hospitality and understands ADA and fire hazard protocols, I was particularly disturbed by the excuses given for denying a simple table change. I hesitated to write this review because of how many wonderful experiences I have had here in the past, but this one cannot be ignored. Management needs to be reevaluated. The level of service we received today does not align with the standards Geoffrey's was once known for. At this point, I don't think I would go back. And to my Malibu family, we may need to reconsider this place altogether. read more

I had the most wonderful experience at Geoffrey's after 35 years of passing by it on motorcycle rides in the Malibu canyons. It is very expensive but the classy atmosphere and views are worth it for a special occasion or date. the service is top notch as one might expect, with a very professional and well trained staff. We started with the crab cakes appetizer and were left impressed with the crab density and flavor. As entrees, we got steak and salmon. I found my steak a bit "chewy" with more grizzle than I like. Today I went for Easter. Their 87 dollar fixed price meal sucked. Three people ordered the scrambled eggs with potatoes and bacon and it was horrible. Nobody ate it. They eventually comped 3 of the 4 because I swapped mine out but also I complained about the hanger steak order which they never refunded. The desert took forever to come out. The whole meal was like 2.5 hours and they charged so much for food that didn't taste good. It was a mass amount of people they fed and none of us like their food. They should have done far more to make it up to a frequent guest but they didn't. I'm very very disappointed. This was just burnt au gratin potato and bacon and it tasted horrible. How they can charge 90 for this and scrambled eggs is beyond me. They should have comped our meal in my opinion. Not worth coming here. read more

For years I've wanted to try Geoffrey's, and we finally made a day out of it while celebrating a graduation. Located right next to the beach in Malibu, you'll get a gorgeous view of the water - wasn't too hot with just the perfect breeze. They have a nice bar with a good alcohol selection. Bar was open seating, so we grabbed a seat to enjoy a drink while they prepared our table. We came for brunch, and they had a nice menu selection. Their Paella was good - packed with tasty seafood and meats - I was pleasantly surprised by how much they put inside. And the broth was delicious - complimented the dish well. Their Grilled Hangar Steak was terrible. It was like the steak had been kept frozen, improperly defrosted, and quickly cooked ... Definitely not enjoyable, especially considering how much you're paying for their meal. Plus, the chimichurri was some of the worst we've ever had. It might have been busy, but that's not an excuse for poor food preparation. Parking is valet only. You might be able to find some form of street parking, but it's not going to be easy, and it might not even be close. Definitely make reservations. They do take walk-ins, and if it's not busy, not an issue. But we came right after a local graduation, and the restaurant was busy. Overall, I'd come here for the view and ambiance. Drinks were good and worth it, but not so fantastic I would come back here for them. For the price we paid, I would've expected the food to be a bit better. read more

This was our 4th visit and just as with previous visits, the food did not disappoint. Ahhhhhh, Geoffrey's. Thank you for providing the quintessential SoCal experience that I never had during my years growing up in the Bay Area: cliffside in Malibu overlooking the ocean, sun-drenched patio seating with nary a bad seat in the house, superb cocktails and fresh West Coast food during a brunch that winds on for hours (4, to be exact, for my party of 5 on a recent Sunday). I was visiting from Maine in February, so I was practically delirious with joy being able to spend the better part of a day like this. And the food doesn't disappoint! It so easily could at a place with this fabulous setting, but it's solid: a pretty big menu with a range of apps, salads, and mains including everything from Benedicts and French toast and omelettes to seared sea bass and grilled steaks. There's something for everyone: our party included omnivores, pescatarians, someone with specific allergies, and hard-core carnivores, and we all had multiple options and requested modifications were handled with ease. Our orders included a delicious heirloom burrata salad, tuna tartare, chicken piccata, and two types of steak (hangar and filet mignon), all excellent; the one odd note was a Castelvetrano olive salad that included sliced cranberries, Gruyère, and herbs that I really wanted to like, but it was just a weird combo. This is the kind of place where you're not really looking for innovation in the cuisine, but rather top-notch execution of some upscale Cali seaside classics--and that's exactly what Geoffrey's does. Fantastic service all around too, from the bartenders to our charming and hilarious server whose name I'm sadly forgetting but that's OK because I'll probably see him in a new pilot episode sometime soon. To fully enjoy your experience at Geoffrey's, dress in your favorite version of you with an added dash of fun: that patterned headscarf, a flowy silk shirt with jeans, a tutu and very expensive platform sneakers, a pressed polo shirt and mobster jewelry, a fur vest over a cream-colored jumpsuit, very artfully distressed denim, Beverly Hills matron sheath dresses, an azure bro suit, sweatpants--and absolutely some fabulous shades while you soak in that sun and LA people-watch to your heart's content. It's a beautiful, intimate setting with sunset views of Paradise cove to the West, and the entire Queen necklace to the east. East, they've done a beautiful job with the patio, and it's above a private neighborhood so it's peaceful and beautiful. It used to be a wonderful place to dine when they took pride in their food and bar service, now it's just a place that relies on reputation, view and tourists. Let's start with the good.... It was a spectacularly warm dry February evening to dine alfresco, and the sunset over Paradise cove was spectacular. A 5 out of five for any place in Malibu just for the vibe. This place is all about the patio. If you're not going to dine outside in beautiful weather, then wait. This used to be a local's favorite, mine as well, but I just can't get past bad food, premixed cocktails, a timed dinner and staff that constantly reminds you that you should be thrilled to be in the graces of this establishment. We were with friends from PV that we haven't seen in a while, So we were getting caught up. About 15 minutes after we were seated, we were reminded that we only had a 2-hour time limit and the clock has been ticking. I'm sorry, I understand that you need to turn tables over in order to make a profit, But this was done with absolutely no tact and far too prematurely. We then moved on to order cocktails, when I asked for a slight modification to mine, I was told no, it can't be modified because it's already mixed. This ended up being a $500 plus meal, you don't have a mixologist or a proper bartender? Let's continue to the food. We had several appetizers. I remembered the crab cake being rather bready from one of my previous visits, and so it was yet again. The watermelon salad was wet and flavorless. The bread, though not wet, also nothing to write home about but not a shock there. I was trying to decide between the duck breast and the Chilean sea bass so I asked our server her thoughts instead of a diplomatic they're both good " I don't know, what are you in the mood for". I worked as a server And most management and chefs want their staff to taste the food so that they can share the experience.... Well apparently that was not the case here, as she was not able or perhaps just not willing, to give any guidance. I apparently I made the wrong choice because ended up with a plate of room temperature duck breast. Perfectly cooked, however gristly tendon still intact, and the entire thing.... Brussel sprouts, some sort of liquidy mashed potato with no flavor, and duck itself was completely drenched in a sickening sweet sauce that completely overwhelmed everything on the plate. I literally scraped as much of the sauce off of my duck breast, and didn't touch anything else because it was one big sweet plate of slop. Had I been dining under different circumstances I would have sent that horrible meal back, that I didn't want to detract from everybody else's experience. My husband's salmon was okay, our friends didn't say peep one about their food, they are foodies and I think they too did not want to complain since they picked the restaurant. We ordered dessert, I was still very hungry, took two bites And was ready to go someplace else! If you want to go to Malibu and enjoy a spectacular View and patio setting, this is the best in town. The food does not disappoint either. For starters, we shared a Caesar salad and the tuna tartare. The tuna was divine. I ordered thr 16 ounce ribeye with brandy peppercorn sauce. The sauce complimented the steak really well, and the steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. The sides included tasty red skinned mashed potatoes and Caesar Brussels sprouts. I wasn't sure what the Caesar Brussels sprouts would be, but as it turned out it's like a Caesar salad with Brussels sprouts instead of romaine. I washed the meal down with two Not So Old Fashioneds, which were classic old fashioneds with rosemary. With five-star views and food came five-star service. Finally tried Geoffrey's for our anniversary brunch. The view and coastal ambiance are gorgeous, and the paella and coconut shrimp were the highlights. Service was fine but not memorable, and the hanger steak missed the mark for the price. Portions felt small for what you pay; overall value wasn't there. Parking is tight valet is $15 so plan ahead. Beautiful setting, but I'd return more for the scenery than the food. read more

Visited here for my birthday dinner and made a reservation in advance. The outdoor space is quite big and I wish we called sooner for a table further away from the building to take in the full view. This was our first visit and didn't know what to expect, but it was quite busy (March). We didn't venture much around Geoffrey's but I can tell you the food was great and our service was outstanding. I'm still dreaming about this Crème Brûlée... I hope to dine in again on my next visit to Malibu read more

Beautiful place with views that make you feel like you're in Maui. They have a couple vegan options. I ordered the watermelon salad (no cheese) and the vegan curry with added tofu. Happy they have some vegan options to have with a nice view. Been here a couple of times and the service is always exceptional. read more
