We made a dinner reservation in advance and came by for dinner, celebrating my bday. Huge space, lots of indoor seating, they even have an upstairs, and a patio outside too. Really fun ambiance, they have live music and they even had a dancer at one point which was super fun to see. She comes around to all areas of the restaurant so everyone can take a look. You get one round of house bread and their house dip complimentary. And for a group of 4 it was plenty enough. Their slices of bread are THICK. The house dip is light and fluffy. It's made with garlic and a slew of other ingredients. We ordered a few appetizers because we were only lightly hungry. The fried calamari was delicious, it's a typical calamari dish but it was still good. We also got the dolmas with ground beef. Woah, I've never seen such huge dolmas before! I'm used to smaller more tightly wrapped ones. They were great though! They had kind of a buttery flavor. Others split the spanakopita and seemed to enjoy it. Fun time and fun ambiance! We came here to celebrate my sister's birthday! We were not super hungry, but wanted to try out some appetizers. The ambience is fantastic. Definitely not the best acoustics, and it's one of those situations where you basically have to yell in order to communicate what you want to say and l strain to hear what your friends or family are saying lol. But besides that, everything was fantastic! The dolmas really stood out to me. They are not your typical dolmas and are incredibly flavorful and just really delicious. I was tempted to order two. When you sit down, they will bring out some fresh bread and their house dip. The house dip is dairy free, but very creamy and fluffy. I wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor, but it was still good. Got the spanakopita and it was packed with spinach and definitely tasted incredibly fresh. My sister and her boyfriend enjoyed the fried calamari. It was a little bit of a bummer that they didn't do anything for my sister's birthday, but maybe it's because we didn't order enough food? Not sure. They do have belly dancers during the dinner time, so it can be a fun evening. Live music as well. Definitely a fun environment! Parking can be tricky, but thankfully, I lucked out. Came here after a day at the Getty Museum. Since we were tired and hungry...instead of waiting 20 min for a table..we opted for the bar. Everyone was really nice and welcoming. Though the original bartender who served us wasn't all that attentive..took a long time to order and get things going...and getting our bill etc...the next bartender who came on was amazing... unfortunately we were leaving at this point... Came here the first time when I was dating my wife in the early 2000s, back then there were a lot more Greek restaurants around! We had her birthday party here one year, a very large group, and they accommodated us beautifully and everyone had a wonderful time... we've celebrated anniversaries here, and brought our kids here, this place is very special to our family. You will find Taverna Tony in Malibu near PCH 1. Beautiful restaurant with seating available indoor and outdoor. We had made reservations so we were seated immediately at the bar since we weee there for their happy hour. (Happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4 to 6). The happy hour is actually a very good one with great deals. We orderd the chopped salad, meze plate, and the calamari along with a draft beer and a glass of wine for $80 bucks. That's a great deal in Malibu considering the portions of food too. We absulotely loved the house dip and bread that came complimentary. Honestly that was the best dip of the house in our opinion. The meze plate was ok, however the pita was incredible. Chopped salad was very good and the calamari was incredible. We really did enjoy our meal and we will definitely come back again. The service is pretty friendly and quick, overall had pleasant experiences both times with the staff. The food is what steals the show- especially the free bread and garlic dip appetizer. I've seriously never had garlic dip that bomb in my life. The calamari & chopped salad was also so fresh and high quality. The entrees that we got, steak skewers and the lasagna, was honestly just okay (steak was a bit overcooked and dry) and a bit pricey but the other food made up for it 100%. I had been wanting to try Taverna Tony ever since I moved out to L.A. My husband and I were in Malibu recently, and I finally had the opportunity to dine here. Had an amazing time at Taverna Tony a couple of weeks ago for my girlfriends graduation dinner. My girlfriend originally called in advance for the reservation weeks in advance and when we arrived we came later than the reservation. Shout out to the hostess for honoring a late window to us to arrive. When walking in I was blown away by the modern aesthetic and large tables for group dining. They also have a large outside patio. Starting off we ordered their Greek Salad, I think we got the Horiatiki and it was basically a greek salad but without the salad. The server said it's the Greek way to get it like this but it was just tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, peppers, olives and dressing. Wasn't a big fan of this. We also ordered the calamari which was amazing and perfectly crispy. Not oily like other spots. For my entree I got the Chicken breast skewers and it was pretty good, definitely wasn't worth the price for $33, it came with rice and potatoes but I subbed it for fries. I definitely think this place would be a 4 star if the prices were a bit better. I've had expensive Mediterranean food and I think it should be a little less for how the food was. read more

Food is amazing. We ordered the lamb and chicken souvlaki, both which are really good. You have to order the mezze plate. It's a variety of really flavorful dips and tabouli. We actually didn't realize it comes with tabouli and also ordered more tabouli, not complaining about that as it goes so well with the food. Heard about this place on Reddit so decided to give it a try. Came here around 4:30 PM on a Saturday so we were able to get seated right away. Parking is easy as this restaurant is located in Malibu Country Mart. Once we walked in, the atmosphere was super nice and warm. The music was fun but can be a bit loud. We were then provided with complimentary bread and their famous house dip. Ordered the following items: 1. Octopus: 8/10 This was delicious! Grilled perfectly, not too chewy. The sauce was a tad bit oily but the lemon helped offset that. The potatoes were pretty plain but cooked well. 2. Dolmathes: 6/10 This reminded me of the Chinese dish, zongzi, which has sticky rice and meat wrapped inside the leaf. This dish was intriguing as we can eat the leaves in this case. It was filled with ground beef and rice, with a nice citrus-y lemon sauce. I didn't really like the grain rice but the leaves were delicious as there was a mint taste that lingered afterwards. The reason why this is four-star is definitely the house special dip. I'm usually not a huge fan of Greek dips but this was light and airy, slightly garlic and dangerously addicting. My friend and I got full from eating the bread and using most of the sauce. Second time here . This time we sat inside so we got the chance to experience more of the live music and entertainment. It was extremely loud cause American people yell all the time instead of talking normally, but that's a given in and busy LA restaurant. We loved our calamari, and Saganaki. Truth is we were already full from these 2 items cause they were really generous portions. But we ordered the Greek sampler platter meal that had a little bit of everything to share. Through we got most of it to go and enjoyed it the next day for lunch . Everything was very delicious. We also loved our cocktails. Shout out to Chris, our server, who was very nice, friendly , and accommodating. He checked on us multiple times, and was kind not to rush us, made sure we are ready before they brought the main course because I had told him that we want to take our time, he let us enjoy the full experience . I will be back for sure The only thing is, I would have liked for them to offer a small something for my parents anniversary. It's just a gesture. Even though I mentioned it on the reservation, and to the server when we first sat, they didn't really care about our special occasion. I would suggest they have brought a small dessert or cake as a gesture to congratulate like most high scale places do to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Yum! Pulled into Malibu And went in search of Dinner. Landed up in Taverna Tonys and was not disappointed. The restaurant was only seating in one area, as it was later in the evening. The place had a good crowd-but didn't feel like I was in top of the other diners The wine list had a nice mix of prices by the glass and bottle. Our waiter was very prompt and efficient. Came here with the fam to celebrate a birthday and from the hostess to the server, absolutely horrible vibes/energy whatever you want to call it. The hostess had an attitude when we asked if we could sit inside (literally we are so chill and not picky at all and she was so unfriendly that it was bothersome) we then asked her what was in the dip they have on the table because my fiancé has a dairy allergy and she couldn't even tell us what was in in she kept saying "I think it has fish, and um lots of garlic" (I think this would have been less bothersome if she didn't have such an attitude from the get go) literally the entire fam was like what is her issue. Then, we had a younger brunette male server at first who was cool and pleasant but I have no idea what happened to him cus he didn't say he was leaving but we all of the sudden had a woman as our server now (couldn't tell you her name bc she didn't introduce) she was older I would say. Anyways, she wasn't pleasant or helpful at all. There was originally a heat lamp behind me because it was freezing out and they wouldn't let us sit inside even though it was dead. I asked if they could move the heat lamp back but she said no bc it was in the way... even though it had already been behind me for 45 min and we were tucked into a corner so it wasn't in the way of anything?? I felt bad for the birthday boy that we chose this place. We were eager to celebrate here as everyone had a great time at an engagement party that was celebrated here a couple months back with all the friends. The place was also deaaaad. The music turned off for a bit outside so it was complete silence and the entertainment was non existent. We were lucky to have the gorgeous belly dancer come out to our corner for like 1 min. We gave her $20, prob the "best" part of the night. Good food but they should do a better job of selecting their staff or do a crash course on basic customer service lol. Shockingly poor. Had a business lunch at Taverna Tony and this place did not disappoint. The inside is very nice, super clean, and has a great vibe. They've got Greek music playing in the background which really sets the tone -- you feel like you're in an upscale Greek spot without it being over the top. Easily one of the better Greek restaurants I've been to. Service was excellent. The staff was friendly and on it -- constantly checking in, refilling drinks, and making sure we were taken care of. Parking was a bit of a hassle to figure out, but it's worth the effort once you're inside. Now the food... absolutely fire. The sourdough bread with the spread was ridiculous -- so good I could've made a meal out of just that. The cheese they light on fire at the table? Melty, cheesy, and on point. The food taste like delicious, comforting, homemade dishes, that someone's grandma made. The Greek salad doesn't look like much, but it's delicious. I love the chicken soup. We had a confirmed reservation and still waited OVER AN HOUR to be seated. We arrived on time, checked in, and were told it would be "just a few minutes." That turned into more than 60 minutes of waiting with no real updates and no sense of urgency from staff. The explanation we eventually received was that a party of 12 turned into 20. While that may be difficult for them, it should not derail every other reservation for the night. What made it worse was the attitude. Instead of a sincere apology or any effort to make things right, staff were dismissive and seemed annoyed that we even asked for updates. We felt like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. Unfortunately, the experience didn't improve once we were finally seated. Beautiful outdoor dining in Malibu at the end of cross creek, so no view of the water, but it feels like you are dining in a taverna in Greece. Parking is challenging during the weekend, but the complex has a complimentary valet between the whole foods and public library. We were a table of 5 so we ordered 5 dishes to share. The combination platter is huge with bits of stuffed grape leaves, tiropita, moussaka, spanakopita, pastichio, lamb kleftiko, rice and vegetables for $49.95 my favorites on the platter were the lamb kleftiko and the moussaka. We ordered fried calamari for $18.95 that was tender and crunchy and thankfully included tentacles. I enjoyed the grilled octopus for $26.95 served with spring onions and potato. It was tender and I loved the lemon and olive oil they used. We got lamb skewers for $37.95 that came with rice, peppers, onions, and potatoes. This was my least favorite dish because the meat was cooked medium as requested, but it was tough and a bit dry. If you want lamb, the klefta would be a better choice, that meat was tender and flavorful after the slow cooking with garlic and onion. We also split the refreshing chopped Greek salad $23.95 which we all loved so much we nearly ordered another one! read more
