This may be my favorite middle eastern restaurant. Love the khibbee nyee, fatoush, hummus with lamb. I've never been disappointed here.

This place was suggested by friends. I was pleased with my lamb shish kabob meal. The meat was tender and adequately flavorful. Not stellar but good. The lentil soup was a little thick but rich and tasty. Overall the meal was pretty decent! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!! They are unbelievable slow and inconsiderate. I watched 3 orders that were placed after mine (a small order, by the way) be given out before I even received recognition that I was still waiting. When asked, I had to tell the representative repeatedly what I had even ordered. It was truly shocking to have such an experience like this, because of the Yelp rating. It is the bomb.com! The food is highly seasoned. It is seasoned much better than some of the other mediterranean restaurants.

I have been to this place maybe 4 or 5 times. I have yet to be disappointed. Wait times are low, staff is very attentive, food is excellent. I think my wife said it best, when she said that the salad she was eating seemed to fresh...as if they had their own garden in the back. To quote my wife again, who introduced me to this restaurant. "This place is definitely everything a restaurant should be." They make their own lemonade fresh, make smoothies with fresh fruit, and I haven't tasted anything that I haven't liked. Great ambiance. My family and I went to pita cafe to celebrate my nieces birthday we dined in as normally do but today....we had an untrained waiter who continuously messed up our order over charged me and was very combative about the bill. However I took the initiative to overpay. This is a disgrace and I was very disappointed in the service and will not dine in there again. I'm new to middle eastern cuisine, but this place is great. I recently moved here, and this is the first place I went out to eat at. Everything our group ordered was fantastic, and I would definitely return. The hummus was some of the best I've ever had in my limited time of eating hummus. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars, was our waitress was indifferent. Maybe she was having a bad day, but she wasn't overly friendly, and albeit there weren't many customers, drink refills were very slow, and it took forever to get the check. Probably a glitch in the matrix though, I'll be back :) Edited: to add another star. Went back a few times and all of the waitresses have been great! Fantastic food and great service! Our server knew what we wanted before we even asked, and was very friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu. I had several of their vegetarian dishes (garlic spread FTW in a major way!) and my fiance and brother raved equally about the meat dishes that they had. Best homemade bread, garlic sauce so good my husband orders a large, the salads & soups are delish but if I'm not too hungry or don't want as much leftovers, I get the appetizer version which is very generous but without soup and salad. For me it's lamb with pine nuts ! You can order over humus or baba ganoush, yum ! This is also less money & I usually still have enough left over lunch. Been going for years and their decor is beautiful, service excellent, carry outs available. If you carry out, I believe you get standard pita & may have to pay for the hot homemade version but worth it for dipping in humus, baba or garlic. If we get chicken schwarma sandwiches to go they are tasty on the standard pita. My sister lives out of town and this is one of her 2 favorite places to eat when she visits and she stays in West Bloomfield. read more

Awesome!!! We just moved to Southfield from Sterling Heights and stumbled upon this gem. The food is incredible, we've had several dishes now, and nothing less than awesome yet! The rice is INCREDIBLE and the bread comes warm and DELICIOUS, we always get extras to take home with us. The service is always fast and respectful, but the thing that really separates Pita Cafe is the home made fruit/veggie smoothies. THEY ARE INCREDIBLE! I love this place, I would give 5 stars but the service has a lot to be desired. If you order a drink that need refills it seems like your cup is always empty. The food is delicious i love the deboned chicken, their soups are super fresh and yummy. Absolutely the best bread i have had anywhere with fresh garlic paste and hummus mmm so yummy. Horrible service. Waitress even got smart telling me that we were not her only table. The manager was no better. She just giggled when we tried to complain. There were people who got their food, ate it and left before we even got our bread. She finally brought our bread and then we didn't see her again for another 20 minutes. Never did she come and ask if we needed any more bread or water while we waited for our food. We askef for carryout containers and that took another 5 minutes and another ten minutes to bring our bill. The manager did not offer any discount or even an apology. I was in the mood for middle eastern today, so I looked on yelp and found the Pita Cafe which has an impressive 4&1/2 star rating. I actually went a little out of my way to order from this place and I'm glad I did. The hostess was very nice and showed me where to place my carry out order. I sat down for a minute to look at the menu. A line started to form so I jumped in. Four people who came after me were in front of me. The hostess saw this and came over, took my order and put it in manually. Incredible service, kudos to her! I went with the shish kafta and waited for my order. The wait is the only flaw of this place. I ordered during their lunch rush and it took around 15 minutes for my simple dish to come out, but, it was no fault of their own. There was an incredible amount of carry-out orders along with orders from people sitting down. Eventually I got my shish kafta and boy was it worth the wait. Everything was fresh and delightful. The meat was cooked perfectly and was actually pretty succulent. You can tell they didn't go cheap on the veggies like some places do. They really take time in looking for quality ingredients. I will now put the Pita Cafe on a pedestal and use the shish kafta, I order from them, as a reference point of good middle eastern food. I would certainly recommend the Pita Cafe! read more

It's as good as it gets for me, I have been to Pita Cafe at least 9 times...and I always end up smelling like I bathed in garlic and in full satisfaction mode for days on end. Pure heaven!! I love their chicken shawarma sandwich...at $3.99 it's a steal...yesterday I had the Greek Fattoush with chicken shawarma....and I have finally proclaimed that this is my favorite salad....of all time...the seasonings are so good, that even though the dressing is amazing, it really doesn't need it because the salad alone is SO GOOD!!! It's SO GOOD!!! I'm getting another on Monday...because it's SO GOOD!!!!! haha...I also got some hummous and garlic spread with half a dozen fresh bread for later in the evening...so good...so SO GOOD!! I was introduced to Pita Cafe when I started working in Southfield nearly 2 years ago, and it really has been some of the BEST Middle Eastern cuisine I have had... A Lebanese gent I dated for a spell agreed with me too...he thought the food was very good... It's seriously my favorite... The staff is super amazing...I've eaten in, and done carry out, and all the time it's wonderful! I've been to Pita Cafe many times over the years and for the most part, the service and food have been pretty good. Well, that all changed when I order a large take out order. I called my order in, about $150 worth of food for a birthday party. I told the manager what time we need the food (5:30pm) guests arriving around 6:15'ish. I arrived with my sister in law at 5:45pm, walked up to the take out area (the bar) and was not met with a 'HI, how can I help you' but with a cocky younger male who simple said, 'yep what can I do for you'... No "Hi". OK, so not a huge deal, but whatever... I told him I'm picking up a take out order for _____. He looks up the ticket and gives me my total: $150 something. I pay, then he says its on the table behind me. I look over my shoulder and nothing is there. It then takes him a few moments talking to another employee about where the food it. Another guy comes up and says, "OH that other guy who had a take out order must have taken it since both orders were sitting on one another." So it looked like the 2 orders were in fact 1 big order. IN FACT, as I was walking into the restaurant I saw a guy carrying out a big box of food---which was my order and his order! Of course, I'm not pleased. The guy with the attitude then tells me, 'Look, it will take 5 mins to get your order, it's not a big deal' I then ask to speak to a manager and he gives me an attitude as well. Never once in all this was there an "Boy we're so sorry about this mix up". In fact when I tried to speak to the manager again, since the 5 mins. turned into 15 mins. the original guy who was helping me says 'I'm not dealing with this problem anymore'. I'll admit, I wasn't pleased, but I never raised my voice, I only asked that they make the food as fast as possible, and if there was anything they could do to compensate me for this problem. Even a free order of their bread would have been welcomes. BUT NO, I was offered a free juice or pop and told, "Hey you gotta work with us here, it wasn't our fault'. OK, I understand that they didn't mean to a give the other customer my food but I've never been to a restaurant to order take out without an employee showing me what we have ordered. Basically it boils down to the fact that I'm never returning to this restaurant. The attitude of the employees has completely ruined Pita Cafe. I suppose I should comment on the food.... Pretty good, their pita and garlic spread is very yummy. However the meat was VERY dry (this has happened twice before), salad yummy. read more

This review will probably get me eviscerated by Dea and Aaron. But here goes. The Pita Cafe is probably the cleanest Mediterranean restaurant I've been to in the area. It also has the biggest vegetarian menu I have seen here. They have a lot of options however there were no appetizers were offered on the menu. The servers were attentive and very nice. I was a bit surprised to see chicken fingers and wing dings on the menu. I kind of take that as an authenticity warning sign. We ordered a Fattoush salad, vegetarian stuffed cabbage and a falafel sandwich. The Fattoush was good, nothing to write home about but very solid. The Falafel sandwich was quite good. The Falafel itself was probably the best falafel I have had in the area. However, the sandwich itself was uninspired. Now for the kicker. The Stuffed Cabbage was pretty bad. The rice stuffing was, at the same time, bland and over spiced with cardamon. I could only handle a few bites. The other complaint I had was with the sweetened pita bread. I'm afraid that it just didn't go with the dish, and would have been better if it had been plain. Perhaps we ordered the wrong dish. If that is the case the restaurant my benefit from cutting the fat from the menu and keeping it lean and mean. read more

We love Pita Cafe! You can actually miss it if you're paying attention to traffic on a busy corner (Greenfield/696) but turn around if you do. Also the only way to enter the parking lot is if you're heading north on Greenfield but aside from that... it has great food, good service, is very clean and it's not expensive. We eat here several times a month and I always get the Shish Combo. They say its for two so plan to take some home with you! The meats are tender and well seasoned, the garlic spread is smooth and tasty, the rice w/almonds has just the right amount of crunch and the lemonade... well if you like tart & sweet stuff, there is nothing better than the lemonade. My wife likes the Chicken Schwarma and the Deboned Chicken. They both are excellent: well seasoned, full of flavor and not dry. The fresh baked pita bread is served hot out of the oven and the tabouli is good too. Try it... you'll like it and come back for more! read more

Pita Cafe has been a nearly weekly staple for us for the last 1.5 years (the service is friendly, food is tasty and healthy and a great value) however, tonight my husband found a rock ...A ROCK....the size of a thumbnail inside his chicken schwarma sandwich. He is extremely lucky to have not chipped his tooth! While the waiter was apologetic, the management merely took the sandwich off our bill (which he only had 2 bites of). The entire meal should have been comped at the very least. We won't be going back which is sad! read more

The garlic sauce has good flavor but they use way too much of it on their shwarma sandwiches. The sandwiches are small, not toasted and usually cold. I have only gotten carry out and the workers at the register seem like they don't want to be bothered. Last time we ordered 2 sandwiches one had a piece of plastic in it, and one had a ball of hair. Not 1 hair, a BALL. Go to Anita's Kitchen in Ferndale, or Mezza in Southfield instead. read more

Grillled veggies were excellent -- nicely seasoned, not overly cooked. Bread was excellent, until I got a headache (I guess the book Wheat Belly has truth to it). The crushed lentil soup was disgusting. It tasted like a creamy broth soup with hints of lentils in it. It was like someone put cream, broth soup in a blender. The salad had very mild flavors, which I liked but it was nothing to write home about. The service was great -- waiter was attentive and courteous. Pita Café is ONLY CONCERNED WITH YOUR MONEY. I have been eating here for 20 years. On this day I ordered a carry out and paid for it with my debit card. They were very prompt lacking sincere customer service, rushing me so they can proceed to take money from the next customer. I double-check my food and ask for Garlic Sauce. He tells me $1.69. I pull my debit card back out and he tells me I can't use it for this purchase it's under $5 dollars. HELLLOOOO PITA CAFE! I just made a $12 purchase. At times in my life I would eat there as my daily routine. I stand at the register in disbelief because I have no other cash as I tipped the cashier in $3 cash. With no mention of this I ask and raise my bag as to say I have no cash just pass me the Sauce. He is firm in his response and refuses to service me and tells me to Have A Good Day. I go to my car upset and think about the food being for my mother and she has to have the Garlic Sauce with her Oven baked bread. I run to the car, look on the ground, look around for some change. I find a quarter here, a dime here and so on. It's takes me some time but I finally get enough spare change from my vehicle. I go back in and he still is on me for $1.69. He treated me as though I wanted something for free INSTEAD OF REALIZING I AM ONE OF THE PEOPLE WHO CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR INCOME BY PURCHSING FOOD AND I PREFER TO USE MY DEBIT CARD AS I WISH AND EXPECT A BUSINESS TO PUT THEIR CUSTOMERS FIRST. There are a lot of businesses that are so cheap they can't pay a percentage of the fee to use credit cards but they accept our credit money. I had them about a year ago and it was really good. One of the better middle eastern restaurants. Recently went back and it definitely have went down. It seems as if they don't care. My pita was very cold. The falafel seemed to be old. It just wasn't good. I rarely eat out and when I do I hope to enjoy my food. Definitely will not be going back. read more

The food is excellent and I have been coming here for years, so I decided to use them for my New Year's Eve party. I ordered lamb, chicken, tabouli, hummus, fattoush salad, and bread. My total was $350.00. Everything was fine except they gave me a garden salad instead of fattoush. All I got was lettuce and tomatoes. A fattoush salad has mix greens, cucumbers and radishes. Very disappointing. I called on the first to speak to Jason the person I was dealing with for the order. I was told he would be in on the 2nd. I called back. I explained to Jason the problem, and he was I will take care of you next time you come in. He said the refund on full tray of fattoush would be about $9.00.
