This used to be my favorite restaurant! It's horrible now, carry out only, totally disorganized, so sad!

I think I have honestly found the tastiest and juiciest shawarma plate on the planet. Great hummus, great garlic sauce - not too overpowering - really tasty bread, too. Good service. Crowded parking lot, my guess that is that most of the parking is from Pita Cafe. Easy access to the freeway which makes it more convenient to travel to. read more

I've always loved Pita Cafe. My extended family used to meet up here for birthdays and what not. The food quality isn't the same as it used to be, but it's still pretty good. I'll come here at least once a month because of the fast service and convient location. One complaint that I have is the fact that you need to pay extra for the good bread. You know, the little circle ones. They used to give it out automatically with each and every Carry out. Now, they just give you the cheap bagged stuff. read more

Can you believe that I have lived half my life 3 minutes from Pita Cafe, drove past it millions of times and never stopped in once? I have been missing out! I got a random taste for a chicken shawarma so I gave them a call for carry out. The guy on the phone was really nice and was patient with me and all my questions. I guess I had a different person that the rude ones I have seen mentioned in others reviews. I ordered a chicken shawarma, small hummus and bread. The dining area was closed because of covid but it was still clean. I knocked off a star because the guy that rang me up so fast that he got my order mixed up with another person with my same name and charged me for her order instead which was $3 more. Cashiers should verify someone's order BEFORE you cash them out, not after. Other than that, the shawarma was delicious...one of the best that I've ever had! I see why this place is popular. This is my favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. The food is consistently good. Well, I get the same thing every time: the vegetarian sampler and fresh baked bread. I was picking up something near by and have never tried this place. I got the shawarma sandwich, Greek salad and chicken lemon rice soup. It was done super fast. I got inside and was blown away by how beautiful and ornate the inside was. It was so beautiful I asked if I could eat my to go order inside. They kindly welcomed me to a table. The food is amazing. I eat Mediterranean often... this is good stuff. I got so comfortable during my lunch there. I then ordered a fresh juice. Carrot beet. I asked to add apples. Wow it was so good. I felt so welcome and comfortable I asked for lemons (usually I just don't want to bother anyone). He then took my juice back and squeezed fresh lemons in my juice. Pita Cafe is a delicious restaurant serviing Middle Eastern cuisine at the intersection of Greenfield and the 696 service drive. The falafel is cooked well and is very flavorful. I really enjoyed the Chicken Shawarma sandwich because it has a very good garlic spread. The crushed lentil soup is very good and has a lot of flavor. Try the home style fries which are slices of potatoes that are fried. The menu is quite large. The sandwiches are under $4. Most of the large dinners are around $10. The decor is very nice and is Middle Eastern themed. If you're looking for good Middle Eastern food try this out. read more

If I was writing this from previous visits it would be easy 4 star's. But today the service let it down. The food was pretty good as usual. The Greek fattoush salad was kind of small but I ordered the large, the hoummus was good, house frys are always good so was the falafel. The sandwiches are pretty good a little small but priced around $3.99 to $4.50 so decent value for money. The problem was the service I asked for more bread twice, but never got it, and waited and waited for the bill. They were kind of busy so I will give them a break, we will be back I hope next time service improves. read more

We ordered food to-go for the first time from Pita Cafe. Service was timely, but the food was just okay. We ordered the falafel plate. Falafels were dry.. We ordered the shish tawook chicken entree, and I'll note the side of garlic sauce was a perfect, generous size (when comparing to some other Mediterranean spots). The chicken was tender but not especially flavorful. The best part may have been the grilled veggies, which we asked for in place of the rice/fries (no additional charge). It was a great selection of vegetables, all grilled to perfection. The lentil soup was okay -- not bad, but not great. When choosing Mediterranean carry out, this will not be on our list -- unfortunately, because it's so close to home! There are simply better places in the area. read more

We got two full orders of deboned chicken with rice and salad and garlic sauce. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned. We also got lentil soup- absolutely delicious! Best lentil soup I've had. Unfortunately, they forgot the pita bread. But it wasn't missed with all the other yummy food. Hopefully, they won't forget it if we decide to come back. Also, we order baklava. They are so small. IDK what's going on here! This "used" to be my favorite place BUT not anymore. Last time my Mom went she made a mistake and asked for extra cashews instead of "almonds" and they didn't ask her "Do you mean Almonds?" and I called the manager. NOW today my Mom ordered 2 Chicken Shawarma meals and WHERE THE HELL is my CHICKEN??? When you remove the top layer it's nothing BUT SHREDDED PIECES! We would have done better ordering a SANDWICH! 2 stars for the food only. Service was horrible. The salt and pepper shakers were dirty the start. I ordered fattoush, falafel sandwich, and beet carrot juice. I got my salad but no dinnerware, requested some. Received my sandwich bout 10minutes later but still no dinnerware, requested again. Good food, but customer service via phone/carry out service - not so good. I've frequented this restaurant several times. I've dined in and I've done carry out. This is the second experience I've had where the male answering the phone was "rude & crude. I placed my order, and I was told one of the ingredients I've requested in my frozen lemonade was not available. I then asked the server, "how much is just the lemonade?". My first visit was a group lunch of thirteen. I arrived a few minutes early and found our table fully prepared. Chicken shawarma and humus were both excellent. The bread is another stand-out. Every basket arrived hot from the oven. Our server (Sam?) was beyond excellent. He was prompt, knowledgeable, attentive and anticipated our needs. No WiFi. I've been going to the Birmingham location (weekly) for about a year and a half, and was disappointed to hear that they didn't survive the pandemic... When I found out there was one in Oak Park, I knew I had to give it a shot, and they didn't let me down! Many of the same employees moved over to the Oak Park location, and the quality of the food is exactly the same. I always go for the chicken shawarma sandwhich with a small hummus and half dozen of their fresh bread. Such a tasty and healthy lunch! read more

Pita Cafe is the go to for a "going out to lunch" restaurant for myself and coworkers. They do well with groups and despite being reasonably busy during the lunch hour, we have rarely waited. The service is consistently good and attentive, the prices are reasonable and the food is good. There are also plenty of healthy options so there is less guilt about eating out. When eating in they bring house made, still hot pita bread the the table. This bread is one of my favorite things about Pita Cafe. It is warm, soft, with a slight sweetness. We usually get hummus to share. A small is enough for a couple people. I also like their garlic spread, which is whipped until it is a spread. Beware your breath after eating! If you order take out they give you the other pita, the thin hard type that I'm not a fan of. If you ask for the in house, however, they will add it to the order. I generally order a cup of the crushed lentil soup with lemon and a fattoush salad with white meat chicken. The soup is filling and flavorful. The salad has tomato, cumber and crushed pita chips. The dressing is a light vinaigrette so the salad does remain healthy. I do like their fresh smoothies and juices, all made when ordered. These are the only items that are bit more pricey. read more

This place is one of the most authentic Lebanese restaurants outside of Dearborn. Not saying that all of the Lebanese restaurants in Dearborn are authentic... some are a mix of Iraq and Lebanese combined. Pita cafe's hummus, baba, tabbouleh, kabobs, falafel and fresh baked pita bread are right on point. Love their salad dressing even though its not the traditional lemon juice, olive oil, salt and dash of sumac... its still close enough to fool your palette. It would be awesome if they baked whole wheat pita as an alternative. Hint! Hint! Been to both of their locations and the one in Birmingham is still my favorite over the one in Oak Park. I'm gIving Pita Cafe five stars for staying true to their traditional roots. Granted it's not like La Shish in downtown Beirut but god darn it.... its close enough. read more

I really enjoy this restaurant. The food is fresh and flavorful. The garlic spread is heavenly without being overly strong. The pita bread is the best I've had. My favorite entree: chicken with mushrooms. All entrees are served with salad and rice or fries...all good. The smoothies are amazing. Friendly staff! Food was really good, I got the Shish tawook entree. The meat was well seasoned and super juicy and full of flavor. I also got a salad on the side with fattouch dressing it was so good, it's definitely something I would go back for! I really enjoyed my food, the ambience was lovely and you can really see the middle eastern culture in the decor which I absolutely loved! I couldn't finish my whole plate. I was only able to eat half! So the portion sizes are pretty large and generous I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try middle Eastern food. read more
