I've been to Pita several times since I wrote my initial review. As the owner said in response to my review. Whatever issues they had when they first opened are fixed. What a great diamond in the rough! I stopped in for lunch today, was greeted quickly. After browsing the menu, I ordered a traditional gyro, with half spicy tzatziki. The person behind the counter was finding a perfect pita to start and was not satisfied, so he made some fresh to make sure my gyro is great! Once done, I was handed off to the finisher, and she was happy to customize, answer questions, and make for a great beef and lamb gyro. The pita bread was a good size but a bit too chewy. The lamb/beef was perfectly seasoned. I like that the gyro had the option to add fries! But the fries weren't crunchy :( The spicy feta tasted like feta mixed with sriracha - not that exciting. I loved the idea of the Mediterranean bowl but it lacked some flavor in terms of dressing. There was a lot of beans and not much olives - it would have been nice with the addition of fresh feta crumbles. The tzaziki dollop didn't seem to have enough punch to it. Not too far from my office and a nice change of pace from all the boring pizza places in N. Billerica. Got a rice bowl with pork, thing must have weighed a good 4 lbs! Love that they put tomato sauce on the rice and there was plenty of meat and toppings, almost too much. The pork was not at flavorful as I was hoping, lacked something, but wasn't bad; love the charred pieces!! I will go back to grab lunch again and maybe just stick with a gyro. read more

I ate there once before and while it was not great it was good enough. This time when I entered I had to check to see if I wasn't at Hooters very young lady in there was wearing booty shorts some of them with their butt hanging out. Also one of them kept wiping her hands on her butt after she touched anything and then she put on her gloves. In a place where food safety is optimum why are there butts hanging out, why are people touching their butts ? can we please provide them with aprons. We were super excited to try this place in Chelmsford on a Sunday afternoon! We ordered a made-to-order salad, traditional gyro, and a pork souvlaki stick. Everything was made to order very quickly... with the exception of the souvlaki stick. There appeared to be issues grilling this up, and the place started getting very busy. After 25 minutes, I was still staring at my gyro over the counter while I waited for the souvlaki! Thankfully, one of the front staff noticed me waiting and brought me out the souvlaki (chicken, not the pork I ordered) and some baklava to make up for the delay. The gyros and fresh pita bread are the stars of the show here, though you may run into some delivery flow issues when things get busy (didn't see any systems in place to track orders and make sure folks were taken care of). read more

I tried Pita for the first time last week and I was happy with my food. I got the Power Bowl with chicken. It was delicious and I would definitely buy it again. I also picked up my co-workers food with my order. One got The Mediterranean Bowl with tzatziki sauce and the other got gyro. The Power Bowl was filling and I couldn't put my spoon down. The only thing I didn't like was that it was missing the avocado I requested. I made the order online and I was charged extra for adding avocado. I did not get avocado. My coworker told me she never got her tzatziki sauce in her food either and mentioned that when she orders anything and adds avocado, she never gets it too. If they don't sell avocado they shouldn't have it on the menu. If they did, and didn't have anymore left over, they should have mentioned to me they were out. I asked for tzatziki. The other two options are spicy feta and hummus. The price of pita bread is Three dollars and 50 cents. The pita bread is made freshly once you place the order. Which is a plus if you are tired of eating thick rubbery pita bread from the grocery store. I liked the texture. But I was disappointed with tzatziki. It did not have enough olive oil and I didn't taste any garlic and cucumber. I couldn't taste any flavors. We came across this place while in the area and decided to give it a try. So glad we did. The interior design is fantastic - a great modern take on a Greek centric restaurant. Rustic touches mixed in with a crisp, clean modern take on the Greek blue and white motif. Inviting and charming while still being modern and clean. The bathrooms are also very nice and modern but with a breezy Santorini feel to them that you DEFINITELY don't normally find in a counter service sandwich shop. The service was solid - very young staff on the Saturday we came in but eager to please and ensure our visit was pleasant and happy. The menu and ordering is a smart take on the Chipotle burrito/burrito bowl/salad idea - here you can order a gyro (with warm, fresh housemade pita - fantastic), a plate, or a salad. We opted for two gyros both with the lamb/beef - The Traditional and The Fiery Greek. Both were very tasty - the modern twist of adding a couple of their "Greek Fries" to gyro was fun. The spicy feta spread was very tasty and made the fiery greek gyro (though it wasn't too spicy). The traditional was the best version of what you would expect. Our only real complaint would be that the Tatziki in the traditional gyro made the gyro a bit wet and difficult to eat. If they could rid the cucumber of some of it's liquid before making their Tatziki or used a thicker yogurt, it might make all the difference with having it as part of the sandwich. Next time, we're hoping to try a special and maybe one of their sweets! All in all, we really enjoyed our meal. It was what I can only describe as "gummy" in the center as far as texture goes (I'd guess the mixture was too moist to begin with, but I didn't see them make it, only toss in the fryer). Which is extra odd because they were flat with holes in the middle instead of a round ball. Also had grilled pita that was over cooked on the grill. I'd been there before and had a lamb gyro that was "okay" and thought maybe falafel this time... I wouldn't make a point of eating here nor recommending. The place is unbelievable, made me feel like I was in Greece again. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The chicken gyro was full to the brim with meat, tzatziki, onions, and tomatoes. This is a new place in town. I love Greek food and this place didn't disappoint. Now I'll have to face longer lines, oh well it's worth it. I had the traditional gyro with chicken. It was awesome. They cook everything fresh. Pita bread is made there, the meats are all carved right there off the gyro rotisserie. I thought I was getting a side of fries but they put them into the gyro....loved that. The flavors and freshness were so good. My better half got the Greek salad with grilled pork, it was huge and loaded with olives, tomatoes, feta, cukes and onions. Oh and pita bread of course on the side. We also got the Avgolemono (Greek lemon soup), nice creamy consistency that had just the right lemon taste to it. The staff explained the menu and were very nice to talk to. First time was bland and under seasoned, second was excellent fresh bread flavors and seasoning on point, third time bread was tough and fiery feta spread was rather salty. I've never had french fries on a gyro before! It was good, but I thought that the french fries would overwhelm the other flavors when I had a bite with FF in it. I also like a little feta cheese in my gyro, maybe that's not traditional. I also ordered spanakopita because I wanted to try it. A large piece that I couldn't finish, just had a few bites, but it was delicious, perfectly seasoned, flaky layers, etc. I definitely recommend what we had. So, why only 3 stars? I guess because of the limited menu. I also was disappointed to find there were no lamb options on the menu. I thought that the prices were a bit high, especially for lunch. Like, $10 for a "bowl" - or a salad. The spanakopita was $5.99, and while it was a generous piece, I would have liked to have seen an option of a (smaller) slice of the spanakopita with a side of Greek salad for say $6.99. There were no grape leaves or sides of hummus or babaganoush on the menu. Also, they should add tea and coffee as a beverage offering. I would have enjoyed a cup of tea with my meal. Maybe they are scaling back because it's as much of a take-out place as it is a sit down place, but when we left, every table was full. I found this restaurant while looking for a place to grab a quick lunch near my job. I glanced over the yelp reviews and decided to give it a try. The restaurant is a nice size and decorated with traditional Greek colors. I ordered a lamb gyro, which I thought was very expensive at $9.99. The pita is freshly made but very dry. The lamb was flavorless and also very dry. I wanted to like this place since I enjoy Mediterranean food, but I can't see myself dishing out $10 for 2 star quality food. Miserable! The felafel was basically congealed hummus poorly fried and laden with grease and tasteless. Pasty and soggy...yuck! Two sliced cucumbers, a few cubes of sliced slimy tomatoes...totally awful. A few cold, salty, hard and very old french fries on the side...lousy. Taboule...what a joke! A cup full of soggy bulgur and a few flakes of parsley...tasteless. Felafel is made from uncooked chick peas (soaked and broken up), a multitude of spices and fresh parsley which is then deep fried in super hot oil. The crunchy result is then served in a pita pocket (not flat bread warmed on a grill and wrapped around the filling) with fresh sliced cucumbers, tomatoes, dill pickles and tsatziki. It's crunchy, spicy, savory and awesome...just not here. Taboule is made with LOTS of parsley and a small amount of bulgur proportionately....with cubed, seeded tomatoes and red onions...and fresh squeezed lemon juice, extra virgin oil oil and don't forget the garlic and a bit of freshly chopped mint. It is refreshing and delicious....just not here. The tsatziki tasted like watered down Boursin spread..not even a hint of cucumbers. A JOKE...rather an EXPENSIVE JOKE!
