This review is for takeout only. Enjoyable Greek food with healthy portions and good options in a nice setting from what we observed. I was pleasantly surprised to discover this place. Pita Greek offers bowls and salads (with added protein possible for $6-7), pita sandwiches, and big platters that come with two sides and pita bread. We really enjoyed the chicken gyro (tender), spanakopita (generously filled), and the falafel (surprisingly not dry but some people may prefer a crisper texture). For the sides, we enjoyed the chicken lemon soup and beets most. The lentil soup, scallion rice (similar to pilaf), broccoli (large pieces), and fries were ok too, in that order. The bowls and pita sandwiches are $12 base but we were a bit disappointed that the falafel addition to the bowl only came with three smallish pieces. The big platters are probably the way to go if you want shareables, as each separate item can be more than the $20 for the platter. They have a pita sandwich lunch special with a drink too. They also have kids meals and catering. Wish they had moussaka on the regular menu! They display desserts at the counter and they all looked very sweet. I wasn't expecting much in terms of atmosphere but it looked comfortable and clean in the dining area and there was outdoor seating. Fluffy pita bread, marinated cuts of rotisserie meats, and aromatic spices... there's all of that and more at Pita Greek, a fast casual Mediterranean restaurant in Nanuet. The owner started his business venture as a ghost kitchen in 2020, and then opened up this brick-and-mortar location earlier this year. There's a parking lot in the back. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a Mediterranean-inspired ambiance - rustic pottery, white & blue color palettes, blonde woods, soft lighting. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. The seating areas are good for small to medium-sized groups. They have a simple menu with fresh ingredients and reasonable prices: pita sandwiches, salads, rice bowls, platters, pastries, etc. The rotisserie meats are the star of the show! We ordered... *Spanakopita $6 (layers of crispy, golden phyllo dough with a spinach, feta cheese, and herb filling) *Tiropita $6 (layers of buttered phyllo dough with a cheese and egg filling) The phyllo dough was flaky, crispy, and buttery. I preferred the tiropita out of the two. It was super cheesy, salty, and creamy. The spinach filling wasn't as good because it tasted oily. *Traditional Gyro Platter $20 *Chicken Souvlaki Platter $20 All platters are served with one grilled pita, tzatziki sauce, and your choice of two sides. The lamb/beef gyro was slow-cooked on a vertical rotisserie. It was super savory, tender, and seasoned in a blend of herbs and spices. The chicken souvlaki skewers were juicy and loaded with a zesty lemon garlic marinade. The pita bread was warm and fluffy. The tzatziki sauce was creamy and tangy. For our sides we chose: *Greek Salad (romaine, tomato, red onion, cucumber, Greek herbs, feta, dolma, olives, pepperoncini, red wine vinaigrette) *Marinated Beet Salad (red beets, red onion, herbs, balsamic glaze) *Lentil Soup *Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup All of the sides were delicious. The salads were very refreshing and made with high quality ingredients. Out of the two soups, my favorite was the lemon chicken orzo. It was like a good ol' comforting bowl of chicken noodle soup with a bright, citrusy aftertaste. The lentil soup broth was a little too watery and sour for me (I think they might've overdone it with the lemon and tomatoes). We had a lot of leftovers to take home. The prices are an excellent bang for your buck because they give you generous portions. The staff is very kind and attentive. We dined in and they brought our food to us in a timely manner. I'm so happy that Pita Greek has opened up in Nanuet NY! I ordered the traditional beef/lamb gyro with tzatziki on the side and it was delicious. The meat was tender and flavorful. Inside the gyro came tomatoes, red onions and feta. The service was pleasant and ordering online was easy. They have street parking and parking in the back of the building. The atmosphere is light and pretty. It was also very clean and it would be a cool place to sit on a summer night. read more

Worst food experience ever! Got massive stomach pain afterwards. Falafel is one of my favorite food, and I've had falafels made by people from just about every corner in the middle east, including by middle eastern friends and colleagues. I am a lactose-intolerant vegetarian, and usually falafel is vegan, with the exception of liquidy tzatziki (if one asks for it). At this place, there is no other choice of saucing - not even the de rigueur tahini sauce - but a thick, gooey "tzatziki" that smells weird (like goat cheese, which makes me sick). I scraped most of that thick goo off my pita bread, and even hogged some of my husband's clean pita bread. But the falafels, made with chickpeas and zucchini (!), tasted awful too. We barely finished our plates before running away. I asked for a glass of water for my lactose pill, but it never came. read more

The chicken platter was a bit too salty but overall it tasted good. The lentil soup was really disappointing, almost no lentils, heavy on the celery and carrots and extremely heavy on tomato paste. Service was very nice and quick it's not a traditional waiter service which is fine with me! You order and have a seat and the staff bring your order. This is an updated review. I reviewed this place when they first opened in Feb. At they time, they were still getting their act together and I cut them some slack even though the food was not great. I went in this week to give them another chance and I wish I could report it was better, but unfortunately I can't. I order the humas which was bland and tasteless. I order a chicken on a stick which had so much pepper on it, my mouth was burning and I could only eat half. Sad, because I would go here all the time rather than drive to Nyack for good greek, but they need to find a new cook. On the positive side, place is clean and service is friendly. The restaurant is relatively new and upcoming. I have not officially met the owners, so I do not know what they are like. The staff seem easygoing and laid-back. The staff were pretty patient and nice, definitely still in training. The environment is quite modern and upbeat. My dad ordered the Traditional Gyro (beef/lamb) ($12) under the pita sandwich section with a side order of oregano fries ($5), which is under the sides section, and a Sprite. My dad enjoyed his food and really liked the fries. We both felt the fries were light and fluffy while being crispy. I just personally was not a fan of the fries' seasoning. I ordered the Roasted Mushroom ($10), which is under the pita sandwich section. The roasted mushrooms in my gyro were deliciously seasoned, although some parts were chewier than others, and some had an al dente texture. I do not believe I would order it again, as it caused an upset stomach, despite enjoying the flavor, which is why I deducted a star. My uncle enjoyed the food he ordered, which was great. Unfortunately, my grandparents did not enjoy their meal. They both each ordered Rotisserie Lamb($21) which is under Big Plates section. My grandpa had the Rotaisserie Lamb with Sauteed Broccolli and Scallion Brown Rice. My grandpa enjoy the Sauteed Broccolli and Scallion Brown Rice. She even was polite enough to say she was willing to give the restaurant another chance. Therefore, I deducted another star from the review. Maybe it was just a bad night when we went. Really enjoyed my chicken gyro. Pita Greek in Nanuet has been opened for just a week. The chicken had such a great char flavor. It was on the dry side, but in a good way. It reminded me of a Greek restaurant, Platka in Elizabeth NJ, I frequented with my dad as a kid. I haven't had that same delicious flavor since then. Brought back a ton of great memories. Only issue, not enough tomatoes or tzatziki on my sandwich. I asked for extra tzatziki and I was received just the bit I needed to round out the sandwich. The staff were warm and friendly. The atmosphere suited the meal. Airy and very clean. Can't wait for warm weather to eat on their patio. Looking forward to my next visit. The desserts looked especially delicious. My family and I have been to Pita Greek in Nanuet twice now, and both times have been fantastic! We decided to dine in both times because the atmosphere is just so welcoming. The decor is really nicely done it's a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. But more than the look, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. They're always happy to answer questions and make recommendations. I have to say the chicken gyro is absolutely delicious. It's become my go to order. The meat is perfectly seasoned and tender, and all the toppings are fresh and flavorful. Honestly, everything we've tried has been great. And don't even get me started on the display case by the register! All those tiropitas, spinach pies, and desserts look absolutely fantastic. Another thing we really appreciate is that they offer beer and wine. It's a nice touch, especially when you're dining with family. Did a lamb platter take out last week and am sorry to say I was terribly disappointed. I was looking forward to enjoying a lamb dinner, one of my favs. I was careful carrying my dinner home because one of the sides was soup and I didn't want to spill it. But when I opened the box I found that the beet salad (which was the second side of choice) was spread out in the box mixed in with my sliced lamb. Maybe that was a good thing because the lamb was very dry and many ends were overcooked and not edible and the beet juice helped to make some pieces more moist.
