I'm SO disappointed. I've been here before and was wowed. Not this time, unfortunately. If I'm going to pay $18 for lunch, I want to get what I pay for. The veggie combo platter was disappointing. It consisted of two falafel that were hard as rocks and two grape leaves that were just OK. The rest of the plate consisted of some hummus, some baba ganoush, a good bit of parsley salad, and about half the plate of white rice. She also brought some pita bread. So, most of the plate was filler. I've been to other restaurants that were much more giving of the substance of a veggie plate. My friend had already ordered a serving of grape leaves, so I was quite full of that. In fact, the appetizer was more satisfying than the plate, which cost double what the appetizer did. My friend didn't seem very impressed with her gyro sandwich. Although the lunch was disappointing, I remembered that the baklava was made with pistachios, so I convinced my friend to order a piece, which we shared. We both thought it was the best baklava we'd ever had. I think the owner ought to open a bakery and sell that baklava. If her recipe is that good, I'd bet other pastries would be great, as well. But unless she gives more falafel and grape leaves plus more to eat on a veggie plate than so much rice, it's not worth the menu price. I think the only reason I'd go back would be for the baklava. read more

We had a big to-go order. We ordered so much food - gyro meat, chicken shawarma, hummus, pita, rice, falafel, salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. I gave four stars because It seems pretty expensive, we tried calling for an hour and the phone just had a busy signal, online ordering menu isn't details enough so we didn't know exactly what came with what. We ended up going into the restaurant to order. Would have been nice for them to be on door dash just for convenience. The food was really good though just the logistics could be more user friendly. read more

My son & I had Dinner there last night. The server was friendly & answered our questions. My son had the Falafel which was crispy on the outside & tender inside. I had Chicken Shwarma w. Baba Ganoush (sp?) & the plate came with hummus, yogurt sauce, salad & warm pita. All were delicious! My son who eats a lot ordered his Shwarma by the lb. & had a side of rice that was huge. I ordered the hummus and grape leaves (dolmas) off the appetizer menu. The flavor of the hummus was fantastic. It had a particularly nutty taste that I couldn't really pinpoint. Then it occurred to me that maybe it was sesame seeds ground up in there, or perhaps they used a different kind of oil drizzled on the top (maybe sesame oil?). Regardless, it was delicious, and the potion was huge, along with a generous serving of pita bread. The grape leaves (what they called them on the menu) came out with tzatziki and there were eight. Again, a generous portion. I ended up taking much of it home. My friend had a gyro with lamb (it was huge) and she thought it was delicious. It's a casual place with table service, so no waiting in line up by the cash register. Parking is in the back of the building, but you can also park on Public Road (you'd have to walk around, though ... I didn't see another entrance to the restaurant). This was my first time there (Brew coffee shop is two doors down) and I will absolutely make it a regular stop and recommend to my friends. read more

I usually love the Pita Grill and they have great food! But, I am giving today only 3 stars to bring awareness to the owner. Usually, I would rate the food here 4-5 Stars, but our Gyros Sandwiches were very disappointing :-( The meat was unusual thick cut. I know the original Gyro meat is usually thicker, but the meat was burned and dry. We wanted one Sandwich without tomatoes and cucumber instead. We did not see any cucumber on the Sandwich. The other was supposed to have tomatoes. At first I thought they had forgotten them, but then I found 2, exactly 2 tiny pieces of tomato on it. So mostly it was just meat and the sauce. I had the sandwich here before, but never this bad :-( So, I am not sure what happened. The food was AMAZING. We ordered the meat combo plate and the chicken kebab plate. Neither of us have ever had a better chicken kebab. They achieved an excellent char yet the meat remained moist and flavorful. Beef and lamb were moist and well seasoned too. The garlic dip and hummus were fantastic, and they balance seasonings well. What a great find close to home. Started off with a chicken Shawarma sandwich. Very fresh and packed with chicken. Got the kings entree. I'd say it could fill 2 people up but we like leftovers. All of the food we have got is outstanding. The humus and babaganoush are the best we have ever had and we have been enjoying mediteranean food for 30 years. That being said, my wife is in love with all of the grilled kebabs. I have ordered the chicken shwarma and it is so good I do not want to try anything else unless I can sample my wife's order. The chicken is also grilled and tender. We have not dined in, but the ambience is very nice. The employees are all syrian immigrants so the food is prepared very authentically. Please note that the vast majority of reviews are 5* and a few scattered 2's and 3's. I am not questioning their ratings as I don't know their experience, but I would interpret these as one off's. One person mentioned 20 minute wait time with one other table and no take outs. That may have happened, but we have ordered online and have order ready in 15 to 20 minutes with most tables filled and multiple take out orders prepare. read more

They have the best humus ever. So creamy and flavorful. Their chicken platters are hit or miss because the meat can sometimes get dry, but mostly good. The staff is warm, friendly and very attentive. This restaurant is lovely a family business where the husband and wife spearhead the cooking while their son and daughter act as waiter/waitress and run the checkout counter. The food here is fantastic, with the cuisine paying homage to the family's Syrian heritage. The falafel is some of the best I've had, and the kabobs are very tasty as the meat is packed with flavor and texture is tender and juicy. Eek. This place is local so gave it a shot. Really wishing I had passed it by. Falafel sandwich tasted like fish and was drowned in chopped herbs. Why does the falafel taste like fish sticks?! There's no fish on the menu either so this was really confusing. The tzatziki and hummus tastes premade and probably brought in by a big box supplier. My other half ordered the gyro plate and the "gyro meat" was also just heated from a frozen box and tasted like soy. The platter came with a salad first. It was so blasted with seasoning that it was inedible. The waitress was pleasant even though I think she knew we didn't like the food. For a sandwich without a side, a plate, and two waters, $40 was overpriced by a lot. Definitely will not be back in this place again. read more

We are middle eastern food snob / afficionados and this is our new favorite middle eastern food place in Lafayette. First, unlike Mumtaz and Falafayette it is open normal hours. We got take out for dinner on a Thursday -- good luck with that at other restaurants. Second, the food at Pita Grill is overall the best. It is better than Mumtaz. Yes, Falafayette wins on falafel (the falafel at Pita Grill is just okay) and creativity. Don't get me started on how bad Simply Greek is. But, considering all the different things you can order at Pita Grill -- from harrisa soup to lamb shank to beef shawarma -- and the fact that everything we ordered was utterly delicious, this place is a winner. Plus, Pita Grill is the only place in town with authentic baba ghanouj and tabuli. They could work on getting a proper online take-out menu set up (you currently have to find a menu online and call to order). But, you have to try this place! read more
