    middle eastern and lamb platter
    Brian S.

nice to see a well liked syrian resturant which is new to me. seems like a busy spot for locals. i got the middle eastern and lamb platter and it contained so many delicious sides. the lamb was also more flavorful and tender than any halal over rice ive had. the hummus was smokey like tahini and i liked all the vegetable sides. owner / staff very friendly. would come again if in the area!

This place was really a 3.5 at best, but skewing it to 4. Chicken gyro. Definitely needed more meat, in order to avoid that bready taste, plus the chicken lacked flavor. Not much seasoning. Lamb gyro was ok also. Again more seasoning would do the trick. The service is counter order and pickup. They also have 2 sets of tables 2 seats each. The interior is very small. This was a onetime visit and this chapter has closed also

Five. Stars. Through and through.. They are open until super late (past midnight), and make their own soups, prepare all their fresh ingredients and have a unique family "feel".. when you walk into the door you'll know what I mean. The inside feels like a Middle Eastern market with replicas across the wall and catchy Middle Eastern music on the loud speakers. The owner is Lebanese, and has owned the restaurant for over 20 years, taking care of the neighborhood who also supported the establishment even throughout Covid. You can order a pita with falafel and toppings for just $6 and a full-fledged platter with all of the toppings for under $15. They have delicious baklava and other delicacies that you'll find, coupled nicely with freshly made lentil soup, which I highly recommend. An epic establishment and one that I'll always bank on visiting no matter what time, day or night.

Lamb was really well seasoned, chicken good but less seasoned. Veggies were all at the bottom of the pita though. Good value lunch.

Delicious, fast, and cheap pita sandwich. The guy taking orders who I want to assume was the owner was super friendly. As I waited for my falafel pita sandwich, he let me try a sample of the freshly made spread on a piece of pita. Pita came out super hot. When I asked to eat here, he made sure to make the pita look pretty on the tray, which was a cute touch.

Oh my goodness! Where has this place been all my life? The funny thing is I been told it's been around for 20 years. I must have missed it, since I usually dine on the other side of 30th Avenue, and inadvertently walking past, I just usually go toward the coffee pot and towards the Shady Lady...now I will go this way. Both ways! I believe it is Turkish cuisine, and they have fantastic service. The staff was and is super welcoming and friendly. I have visited multiple times. And I have tried the samosas (small potato stuffed triangle crepes) with the delicious sweet chutney sauce (Tamarind, maybe?), and I did wolf it down without reservation. It was delicious, crispy, but not hard, and flaky but just right...the potatoey insides were fantastic. I also had an order of the grape leaves (Dolmades like at Greek Restaurants), and it had the most amazing olive oil and yummy mysterious other dripping sauce that I ever tried. I also have to add that my grape leaves were freshly made...and it tasted just delectable. So the restaurant has an easy breezy vibe, and most people are inside chatting and catching up having delicious honey blossom tea and Turkish coffee (super strong)! It is small inside, but it has a great family feel! Just to try this delicious meat filled platters of yummy delights. I want to now try all the meals. I definitely will return! I wanted to say thank you Pita Hot for allowing me ask many questions and also eat each item one by one...and savor each bite! So good.

My favorite quick eat in Astoria! I am obsessed with their delicious chicken kebab -- I love it as either a platter or pita sandwich. All the toppings are fresh and crunchy. The rice served on the platter is delicious. They offer a range of sauces -- *GET THE GREEN SAUCE* *AND THE YOGURT* *AND THE HOT SAUCE*. The service here is great. They are cooking your meal fresh so it will take 5 minutes, and if they have time the guys are so nice and will give you a little bite to taste as you wait. This is a grab-and-go or quick-sit type of place. There are 3 small tables outdoors and 1 table inside. If you see a spot order to stay, you will not be disappointed! Pita Hot is great for a real Queens / Astoria / Authentic food experience.

This is a gem! Anything you get here will be delicious. I usually get the shish kebab platter. It comes w lettuce, tomato, kebab, rice and pickled cabbage. Tooped with sauces of your choosing. Plenty of drink options too. Also they gave me a sample of the Harira soup and i must say its my new fave now. Will be ordering plenty!

Always amazing! This is our go-to for dinner in Astoria - service is always friendly and fun and they always give us something new to try. Today we tried their samosas which were delicious and spicy. The chicken schwarma platter was so tasty with white and hot sauce and the chicken was perfectly spiced. Definitely stop by if you're in Astoria!

Oh my god, don't know how I never bothered to come here but first time, ordered grape leaves platter, samosas, fava bean side, and shawarma+gyro platter Everything is AMAZING and so fresh! The owner was so nice he kept feeding us samples while we waited. This is the best Mediterranean food I've ever had.

We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and Mix Grill entrees for our party of 7. I would say it's a pretty simple and standard order. No deviations, substitutions, or anything out of the ordinary. Despite that, our drinks took ~20 minutes, the appetizers took 30+ minutes, and our entrees 30+ minutes after that. The Mint Lemonade was so small and tasted artificial. For ~$9, I expect more. The only appetizers worth trying are the Hummus Baba Ganouj, and Falafel. Everything else sadly missed the mark. The Fatoush & Tabouleh were promising but pretty sad. It lacked dressing (lemon and olive oil), flavor, and there were way too many unnecessary lettuce leaves on or around the bowl. I did enjoy the Zikrayat Mix Grill. The meats were tender, well-seasoned, and juicy, the rice was light and fragrant, and it was filling. I found the appetizers to be overpriced and along with the extremely slow service, I didn't leave feeling like it was worth it. I don't think I'll be back.

The food has always been freshly prepared, in large portions, and cooked quite well. I'm thankful that has not changed much. On my most recent visit, we got a Mix Grilled and Vegetarian Plate to share between four people. There was so much food that we did not have dessert next door as originally planned. Prices are higher nowadays, but you are receiving great value for what you pay. Both chicken shawarma and the beef kufta from the Mix Grilled tasted great, especially with the provided zesty white sauce. I also added hot sauce to mine, which made it more satisfying. The chicken kebab was not bad, it had a nice char, but slightly dry. All of the accompanying humus (a bit salty), salad, rice, and garlic pita were excellent too. For the Vegetarian Plate, though good, I would like the falafels to be fluffier. The best things I enjoyed on the plate was the fried eggplants and baba ghanosh. It also comes with cous cous, which was good. Fresh middle eastern cuisine, made with quality ingredients and care, this restaurant may not be my first choice in Astoria because it's not as sexy as some of the other offerings, but I'm glad that they are still around when I just want a quality meal at a reasonable price.

Best Momos around!…read more If the title doesn't tell you everything, this review will. I found out about this place months ago and it was finally time to give it a try. My spouse and I are always down to find good momos, and this being close by and Tibetan cuisine, it was definitely a must. Ambience: It seats a decent crowd. It has nice Tibetan artwork and you feel the warmth from the owners. It's cozy and it felt great. Service: Top notch. I don't say this lightly. The server sat us down and was just so joyful. Her smile and demeanor made you feel welcomed. Brought us water and asked the usual and offered to explain any dishes. Now we are onto the good -- might I say great -- part. THE FOOD. We didn't order momos on our first visit. Food: My wife got the Himalayan Rice set (chicken) and I got the Rildok. We also got the Shabhaley -- from the description I thought it was literal meat. The Shabhaley, to put it, looks like an empanada. It was far from it in the best possible way. The pastry was crisp but soft and the beef filling was divine! Seasoned with so much flavor and it was paired with a beautiful sauce. The Rildok was exquisite. In my opinion -- I even told one of the servers, whom I now know is one of the owners, that the flavor profile reminded me of a cheeseburger, and it's my favorite new dish. The Himalayan Rice set was awesome. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The tingmo (like a bread) was soft and delicious, paired well with the chicken. The dal reminded me of my own homeland's dal. We've now been back here multiple times. My goal is to try the entire menu. The vegetable khoty momo was surprisingly my favorite, and I'm someone who loves meat. I've now had all the flavors and preparations of the momos, and you can't go wrong! This place is a gem. Their quality of food is top notch, and their actual aunties are in the back making this with so much love. I want everyone to try it. The owner and his staff are amazing and welcoming. They remembered me from my second visit, and that speaks volumes. They're all down to earth and it shows. The passion they have for their food and their kindness shines through.
