O, effing yeah...We had a little impromptu adventure when we were trying to find a Qudoba by my house. We ended up on Olive (we embraced the adventure and decided to head for something decent), driving around in Chesterfield and I saw the little Pita + sign sticking out in the horizon. "That's Pita +!" I yelled, happy to see something I had seen reviewed by respected Yelpers. Z's eyes lit up and I knew we had found our local replacement for our fast food craving. I got a falafel pita, which totally rocked my world. It was all stuffed neatly into a pita that is apparently the world's only pita that doesn't break open when you're trying to eat your sandwich. It was the tidiest falafel I've ever met! I'll ask for extra sauce next time. He got a chicken Gyro, and liked it, but wished he had gotten the falafel. Get the falafel. The meals also came with little pita chips and a pickle. With all that, a container of Mediterranean olives, fresh pita and babaganoush (for 24 dollars!!!), I was a happy little veggie head. The gyro is pretty standard- i prefer Med. Oasis in the CWE for a gyro. Probably the best place to get a falafel in STL. Hummus is good and i really love the pitas here. I bought some to go last time i was here. I like how they have the sauces in bottles for you, so you can add as much (or as little) as you like. I ordered a chicken tandoori platter, the person behind the counter was on the phone entire time, when i got my platter and took a bite of my chicken I was literally disgusted , I felt like I got some tyson frozen chicken strips heated up in the microwave. I told the owner that it didnt taste good and he got rude and started yelling at me stating I didnt give it a good taste, I am sorry but when I took a bite I thought it would make me vomit! I asked to get my money back and after being yelled at by the owner he gave me the money back and told me I dont know good food so I shouldn't come back! OOOOOK what a great way to run a business! I spent a ton of money here today & got a ton of stuff to try. Tabbouleh was soooo good way better than Ranoush. The pita is fresh, homemade & absolutely yummy! The chicken & potato burrekas were soooo good. Olives had pits in them, but weren't tooo briny. Baklava had the right amount of sweetness to it. You can buy a pound of gyro meat for about $12.00. This place is good if you need to stop somewhere for a quick lunch. I had the gyro sandwich. It was good and the bread real fluffy and nice. My husband got the pita platter. He really liked the rice , but it didn't come with a lot of meat. The place is real small. Only like 3 or four tables inside. Price was not too bad. I think it was like 6 bucks for my sandwich. It came with a pickle on the side which was good. It also came with these pita chips on the side that I didn't care for myself. I wouldn't purposefully come here again. I was in St. Louis on business and stopped off here on my way from the airport to my customer. The owner was charming. I ordered a falafel sandwich, and he up-sold me on a spinach pastry (burreka) from the case up front while I waited (it was a little greasy, but just the thing on a cold, snowy day). The falafel patties were just ludicrously good. It was the best falafel I'd had in quite a while. The pita was delicious and fresh, too, as was the sauce, which is self-applied. The veggies inside were as good as can be expected in January (I kind of cringe at winter tomatoes, but understand that they're giving the people what they want, which is to say consistency in ingredients). I always feel a twinge of guilt when I'm treated well on a road trip like this--I probably won't be back to St. Louis more than once a year. But I will definitely get over to Pita + if I do get back, and hope that others reading this will give it a try. read more

What I really love about this place is the culture it embodies! I walked into the store on a cold winter day and was welcomed with the warmest greeting! I felt like I was in a family members cozy little kitchen. The store owner was extremely friendly and even suggested I open the box and try the falafel before I took it home. Pretty small place in a strip mall, easy to miss. Very good falafel for a reasonable price (5 pieces with some hummus and salad on the side plus a soda cost me $10).
