By far the best place in St. Louis to get a Felafel. I come here every time I come home for Holidays or Summer. It's typically served with the Tahini sauce, but I like it with the Tzatziki. Yum! Ordered a gyro and falafel and both were delicious. As a word of warning, I had run 10 miles prior to eating at Pita + and was incredibly hungry, but I think the food was good regardless. The man working the register was quiet but seemed friendly. Only downside is that the restaurant is quite small and the tables are arranged awkwardly for 2 people - you have to sit next to each other rather than across and they only have bottled drinks. Pita Plus is a great quick lunch stop. Their gyros, falafel, and grilled chicken pitas are all very tasty. I love that they provide tzatziki and hot sauce at the table, so you can load it on. It's definitely a no frills restaurant, and depending who's behind the counter, customer service might not be a 5-star experience (but in most cases it is). I would discourage ordering the chicken tandoori though. It more closely resembles buffalo chicken tenders than any tandoori chicken I've ever experienced. And while anything is good covered in tzatziki and wrapped in a delicious pita... basically everything else on the menu is better. read more

Falafel is so delicious! The spicy sauce on the side is just that...and I usually put a couple small drops on the sandwich and it's perfect. The owners are really nice but they are always trying to sell you something else. That's okay, they're a mom/pop type place that could use more business. Didn't know this but they deliver via tigerstakeout.com. I've never used that service but it's a nice option. They're located right next to Dobbs so if you need an oil change or work on your car, this is a perfect spot to grab a bite and eat! read more

I have visited Pita plus for about 15 years now and would gladly recommend it to anyone who likes a good Gyro! Some things like I about this place- 1) They gyro is always consistent! The meat is perfectly done and made on a Gyro machine, it's not the kind that's warmed in a microwave! 2) The falafel and burekha's are again consistent and perhaps the best I have eaten. When I eat these at other places (including authentic places in Chicago and New York), I always find myself comparing them to the ones at Pita Plus.. 3) The sauces are to die for! And also the hummus. The sauces - yogurt and cucumber based Tzaziki sauce and a red pepper sauce- are kept in plastic squeeze containers in the refrigerator and they have no restrictions on how much you use. 4) The food is delivered fairly quick and I don't think I have ever had an order mixed up. The location is also convenient with ample parking. Things that I don't care much for - 1) At one time, I loved some of their "healthier" options like the Olive Chicken and Tandoori Chicken platter. However now they seem to have substituted the marinated chicken for some kind of Tyson's frozen buffalo/crispy chicken which they microwave and stuff into a Pita. Yuck! Stick to Gyro's and falafel's, nothing else can be really trusted. 2) The current owner, who's been running this place for over 10 years perhaps, is a bit of an oddball. I think the guy is an okay bloke but can be quite petty at times. Case in point, I had once purchased about 6 gyros to go and he gave me enough sauce for barely 1 gyro in a tiny container! When I asked him if I could have more, he said these things are not cheap and I would have to pay for it. Strange because they are served in unlimited quantities when you eat in! He also seems to rush you if you stop by in the evenings, usually insisting that you carry out instead of eating in! All said, they still serve good Gyros, falafels and Burekha's.......and the price is reasonable in my opinion. The gyros are awesome and built a little differently than most folded gyros. Here they cut the top of a pocketed pita and stuff it. This makes it taste cool with the green toppings. The cucumber sauce is as good as it gets. Not 5 star because the owner is kind of a jerk. I bought gyro meat from him once and it was $7 a pound. The next day I did the same and he charged $9 a pound. When I questioned the price hike, he said he didn't want to sell it by itself and then declined the sale. I didn't go back for 2 years. But eventually sold out to his tasty, quick, and convenient food. read more

OBSESSED! My favorite lunch place in St. Louis area. I have been going here for almost 10 years and never been disappointed. I would say it has comparable pricing to fast casual restaurants. The meat is delicious and the business, as far as I know, are family run and everyone is friendly. I remember seeing an elderly lady a few times when I have eaten in and she has tended to me and been so sweet. I love the burrekas and I am so happy you can buy frozen ones! I couldn't finish it all, it's decently large and not cheap either. The restaurant is sort of awkwardly small and quiet on a Saturday afternoon. I would highly recommend for takeout though! Despite the fact that St. Louis seems to lack many authentic international cuisines except for Italian compared to the big cities in the coast, I'm glad to know that there IS an authentic Middle Eastern restaurant in St. Louis. The food here is healthy, tasty, and always fresh. I am a big fan of Turkish chai tea (these are different chai teas like the one you'll get at an Indian restaurant.) as well, and this is the only place in St. Louis that you can get one. I go to Pita+ on lunch breaks from work, they are really fast and I love that. It beats a burger. Their Falafels are great...and their pastries are good too. I've tried their hummus and pita chips and it was fine. My only concern is that it is challenging for me to communicate clearly with the staff: last time I said "I do not want onions on my gyros" but the gyro had onions. Thanks God they are easy to remove. I think there is a bit of disconnect between the cashier and the kitchen...but this lovely family business doesn't pretend to be what it isn't. So I just eat and leave. I've been there several times and the food has been good always. The large baklava was decent, close to $4. It is worth it to me..I was able to share it with friends. In terms of customer service, they really try to serve you well. The gentleman that is the cashier speaks little English so keep your orders simple. I have been here many times over the years, and the food has always been consistently fresh and delicious. I try to order something different each time, and have never been disappointed. I ALWAYS pick up extras to take home, like a bag of fresh pita bread (once you try these, you will never want to buy a bag from the grocery store. They must be made fresh every morning!). I browse through the refrigerated case and pick up some tabbouleh, or tzazitski (sp?), or the rice and beef dish. It's all good! On my last trip, I picked up some frozen burreka's, which are a puff pastry thing that is served warm. The man behind the counter told me how to bake them (400 degrees for 8-10 minutes) and they were very good! They have three different kinds. I usually go during lunchtime, and I usually don't have to wait long for my order, so if you're in a hurry, you can be in and out in no time. There are only about 4 or 5 tables in the place, and it's very small, but don't judge the book by it's cover!
