The cashier was so nice, I did not want to turn away when it took too long for her to come from the back and take my order. I ordered a banana slit, but they had no peanuts, and the hot fudge was not hot. It came out in lumps. I then chose, what I thought was m&ms, but was not. The candies were so hard I hat to spit them out. The fudge was nasty so I raked it in a plastic bag I had in my car. The bananas were good, and the ice cream was o.k., but not banana split good.

As it's so hard to land on a flavor, I generally get a split scoop and the flavors pair really well together. The staff is so nice and generous, particularly Ms. Mimi and kindly let me sample more than a few flavors! She was very sweet to my kids and gave them cute panda stickers! The Apple Pie and Butterscotch ice cream flavors were very unique and paired well together. The Choco Heaven is decadent with dark chocolate hazelnut and tastes like a soft Nutella. The Dirty Brownie has chunks of fudge gooey brownies and another rich flavor. The Coffee Oreo tastes like an Oreo Frappuccino and the Oreos soften the bitterness. While the Choco Heaven and Dirty Brownies are very rich, bold flavors, they overpower other flavors. The Coffee Oreo and Tiramisu were a bit in the background and a bit muted. The Matcha and Super Oreo were divine and paired really well together in a split scoop (2 flavors in a single scoop). It's pretty rare to get split scoop now-a-days. The Super Oreo definitely delivered with Oreo cookies in every bite and the Matcha balanced out the sweetness and gave the flavor more depth. The blue Cookie Monster was delicious with chunks of cookies in every bite. Both my kids and I really enjoyed it so much that we went back for another scoop! I think the gelatos taste good but its very expensive and the serving portions are small. I cant justify making this a regular place to take my family. When they first opened they piled on the gelato so I never paid attention to the serving size. That trend seemed to have died down. Maybe im noticing this more because the last few times I was given less. Its odd that way, Management needs to tell their staff that everyone gets equal amounts. Ive seen a group of young females get lots more than I did. Im a grumpy man p Now when I take the family to the skating rink, we just stop by Yogen Fruz which has a pretty decent sized serving for the same price though I do think that Pitango tastes slightly better. Also, if you order coffee drinks, keep in mind that they do not carry cream, or at least I was refused cream. They do give you a little bit of cold milk in a small cup to use as cream in your coffee if you request it. But, this makes the small hot beverage luke warm. I just stop ordering coffee drinks from here and get it from Community Canteen (serves really great coffe/expresso drinks) located right across from them. Overall tastes...good, service and consistency is based on the person piling o not piling the good stuff. I hope to go there next time and have a better experience because I truly feel the product is good, just not good enough for the price. Im speaking as a parent and my observations will differ from others for sure. read more

Being argentine, French and Italian... I was raised with excellent gelato. This place has great flavors to offer which are constantly changing. I enjoy their decent quality and their coffee is phenomenal too. They source all their ingredients from local farms. I wish they made the ice cream in house, rather than receiving it in batches and finishing it in house- however, it's still the best I've come across in Northern Va. The staff is always friendly, one lady in particular always goes out of her way to give me two small samples to take outside to my dogs. Yes it's pricey, but compared to the crap you can buy at Ben and Jerry's for $5.00, this place is incomparable. It is definitely our go to spot for most weekends, as they sell pints to take home. As a connoisseur of gelato, I would say this place was great. It was definitely not the best Gelato I tried, but it was very good. However, there was one best part of this particular store that I have never experienced: customer service. I think the guy name was Cale, and he greeted all of my friends and me with an amazing customer service. He was amazing, and I have never seen someone so respectful. What a sweet, welcoming place. I love to go with my daughter, Rebecca, and taste all the extraordinary flavors of gelato. It is very nice to enjoy a refreshing mohito, lemon, or local apricot gelato while strolling down the cobbled streets or relaxing by the fountain on a warm Spring or Summer day--there are always babies and young children enjoying the fountain and their enthusiasm for the lovely day is contagious. The vanilla flavoring was very prominent and the ice cream was smooth in texture. Recently, I went again to this location. Looking over the flavors, I was torn. Do I try the "coffee toffee" or "salted caramel". Since I really like "salted caramel", that was what I chose. As I sat there eating it, I found myself wishing that I had chosen "coffee toffee". Try as I might, I barely tasted any caramel and absolutely no salt. What a disappointment! If they are going to offer this flavor, then it would be expected to be able to clearly taste the salt and the caramel. Both times, service was good at the Reston location, no problems there. As for ambiance, it's quiet and laid back (at least it was that way when I was there). All that said, I may go back at some point and try another flavor. Well...time will tell..

I went with the pepperoni pizza with za'atar spice in the cone. It was really yummy! I enjoyed how cheesy it was and the za'atar adds a nice little herby zing to it. It was a nice little lunch. For the sweet cone - I got the Oreo crumbs with cookies and cream filling, soft-serve with strawberry syrup and sprinkles. There are so many choices of toppings!!! The cone itself is really yummy and I liked all the toppings. But, it is a bit messy and hard to eat. I also tried their homemade tiramisu and it was delicious.
