Great food from Folsom if your looking foe Mediterranean. We ordered the plate and it comes with rice, chicken and lamb, small salad, nan and tziki sauce. The lamb is very soft and the nan is fluffy. We got it delivered through Doordash and it's always been consistently good.

A small, no-frills food spot with food to match.....and I kinda actually like it that way? (An unpretentious ~Elite~ review, whaaaaat?!). Sure, the crinkle fries could've been crispier and the falafel could've had a tad more flavor, but my meal was still very enjoyable, almost comfort-food-y! The falafel wrap was just like a hefty Taco Bell Gordita but with tender falafel as the protein (and I like Gorditas!). Super soft pita bread as the wrapper. Food was served really warm. Pretty fair portion sizes. I've tried this place only once but it seems like a dependable food spot for Folsom-ers (I don't live really close but was in the area hungry). Definitely a good find!

I placed an order for pickup, I dropped in one hour before before closing. I have never ordered that late in the day from them. It was an odd experience. I didn't get my taziki sauce, I ordered the extra side. I paid for it. I even asked the cashier if the sauce was in the bag before I left. He said yes. Well there was none. Plus I didn't get a receipt. I also asked if it was in the bag. He said yes. The prices increased as well. Plus he didn't wait for me to enter my rewards point before he finalized the transaction. I even told him I was entering my info for the rewards points as I handed him my payment. Overall I felt rushed out from the get go. Bizarre. Very opposite from all my prior visits.

OH MY PITA! This place is sooooooooo good! After spending a few hours at the Palladio, I yelped to see what eateries were around & seen this place. The food looked filling & I couldn't remember the last time I had a good gyro. Ordered through Yelp (technically GrubHub), I order two combination plate, one gyro combination, French fries no salt & curly fries no salt. We were just around the corner - took us 5 minutes to get there & we were in & out with our to go order 2 minutes after we arrived. Now let's talk flavor, the gyro combination was my favorite it was the perfect amount of meat, veggies & sauce, wrapped with their soft bread. I was in heavennnnn! Their rice platters are also super filling & flavorful. Overall we will definitely be back!

Is the white sauce tzatziki or does it have curry in it?

Its a little luxurious version of tzaziki, but it doesny have curry in it.

    Are the falafel gluten free?

Falafel bread is not gluten free, but my husband is gluten free due to hoshimoto's and can find stuff to eat there. HOWEVER, he is not celiac, so I do not know if someone who has celiac would be able to eat there or not. That would be a question to… Read more

I recalled there was a Petra Greek in Folsom's Palladio shopping center. So off I go. The cashier was polite, and knowledgeable about the menu and food. The dining room had a lot of seating, and was kept neat 'n tidy. I got my to go order super quick. My Petra combination was yummy. Not the best ever, tasty nonetheless. The combo plate came with rice, Greek salad (which was big chunks of tomatoes & cucumbers with Kalamata olives, red onions and feta cheese) , chicken souvlaki, pork souvlaki, beeftekia, pita bread and choice of tzatziki or hummus. The chicken and pork were tender; the skewered meat was flame cooked giving a barbecued flavor. The beeftekia is a patty of ground pork and beef and spiced up. Very unique flavor. I couldn't decide on hummus or tzatziki so I ordered both for an extra $2. The Petra plate is alot of food, get ready to strap on the ole feed bag. With the quantity comes a higher price. $23.99. The extra sauce $2 might not seem to be a lot of money but for the itsy bitsy container, I thought it was pricey. I haven't been here in over a hot minute. As I was driving about looking for a parking space as if I were scouting for dry land from being lost at sea; I realize why it's been over a hot minute since my last visit. Finding parking is ruff. There are few spaces in front of the shops which the stars didn't align for any spots being open when I drove by. There is a parking garage and open lot but it's a walk in. I gave up on the parking garage after driving to the second floor and driving half way through, no available spaces. So I truck back out to the lot in front of Kirkland and See's. I walked in from there, along the way bopping about like frogger trying to cross the lot and crosswalk without getting hit.

When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a waiter who seated us immediately and soon had water for us and menus. He then came back with a small bowl of soup for each of us. I don't know if they change their soup flavors often but this one was lentils with short green rice and it was very very good. I was impressed right away with how friendly he was and one of the kitchen staff saw us and she was just as kind. We ordered a couple of appetizers; one was a dish of olives and 2 types of pickles. It was a nice amount of items. Our absolute favorite was the Toum....a soft whipped dip, Lebanese dip that had LOTS of garlic but not so much that it was overwhelming. We ordered bread to dip into this. It was WONDERFUL. My daughter ordered the chicken pomegranate plate that had chicken that had been marinated in pomegranate and molasses that was on a bed of long grain rice and a salad on the side, which was very fresh and very crisp. I had the chicken shawarma plate which was incredible and my son in law had the lamb kabobs which he really enjoyed. Our waiters were very prompt clearing our dishes bringing boxes along with complimentary baklava that was very tasty and the perfect end to a great meal! My daughter and I both noticed that it was very clean and I thought it was a very relaxed atmosphere. Incredible meal!!!

Server did offer to let us choose 2 different meats for our two #41 Koobideh plates (2 beef skewers for $25), but I think we would have been better off just ordering one #61 All Koobideh plate (3 different meat skewers for $34). One plate has plenty of basmati rice for two people to share. She suggested the two #41 orders, instead of answering how much an extra order of rice would cost. Maybe you can't order a side of rice? Rice comes with each entree. By ordering the 2nd plate, she offered or included the $8 Bread Basket for no extra charge. It was my friend's birthday. I wanted to pay, and she wanted to order extra to go, so I wanted two separate bills, but it seemed too complicated to explain or disallowed. After the food was delivered to the table, server didn't check on us anymore. I guess the restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays. My friend thought all the koobideh tasted the same. I liked them in this order: 1) Lamb, 2) Chicken, and 3) Beef, but they're the same texture, so they aren't all that different. I should have ordered a different 2nd entree, instead of two Koobideh plates. The #18 Bademjan Borani eggplant appetizer was yummy. It did come with some bread, so you don't have to order the bread basket. The bread is served warm. The basmati rice was light and fluffy, but not flavorful or buttery. You can pay a $4 upgrade to switch the rice to salad or a fancier stir fried rice. Read the Vegetarian Dishes menu section to learn about the various fried rice or polo preparations. Our server suggested the Fava Bean Rice or Baghali Polo because it is a Persian New Year dish. Yelp reviewers recommended the Zereshk Polo, which includes barberries, a fruit similar to currants. $10 to add a skewer of veggies. $4 to add a salad is mentioned under the Vegetarian Dishes menu and Seafood & Combination Plates menu. I didn't like how the sugar cubes for the Persian Tea were served. It looked communal and exposed to the elements. You could see sugar dust on the serving bowl. Other Persian restaurants serve the sugar in a smaller covered bowl. Formal dining room. Lunch specials are Monday to Friday, 11 am to 3 pm, excluding holidays. Lunch prices range from $16-$20. 3 different $8 soup offerings: chicken barley, ashe reshteh, or green lentil.

The portion was minimal--barely enough to cover the bottom of a standard to-go container--and it was noticeably lacking lettuce. They also used green olives, which felt a bit off from what I'd expect. The salad came with small portions of hummus and tzatziki, but no pita or anything to pair them with, which I found odd--are people just eating those with a fork? We also ordered a chicken shawarma, and ironically, the lettuce I was hoping to see more of in the salad ended up in that instead--wilted from the heat of the chicken. This was my second visit. The first time, I ordered online and was hit with a bunch of extra fees since it's routed through DoorDash--even for pickup. Staff mentioned that I should avoid ordering that way in the future to save money, which raises the question: if you know the system you're using adds unnecessary costs, why not offer a better alternative? Taking their advice, I came in person the second time. Service was fine, but overall, the food still just didn't stand out. I'll continue to spend my money at Zest just down the road.
