Petra Greek eatery is located in the Palladio shopping center in Folsom, CA. I recently had a lunch craving for Mediterranean food. I recalled there was a Petra Greek in Folsom's Palladio shopping center. So off I go. The cashier was polite, and knowledgeable about the menu and food. The dining room had a lot of seating, and was kept neat 'n tidy. I got my to go order super quick. My Petra combination was yummy. Not the best ever, tasty nonetheless. The combo plate came with rice, Greek salad (which was big chunks of tomatoes & cucumbers with Kalamata olives, red onions and feta cheese) , chicken souvlaki, pork souvlaki, beeftekia, pita bread and choice of tzatziki or hummus. The chicken and pork were tender; the skewered meat was flame cooked giving a barbecued flavor. The beeftekia is a patty of ground pork and beef and spiced up. Very unique flavor. I couldn't decide on hummus or tzatziki so I ordered both for an extra $2. The Petra plate is alot of food, get ready to strap on the ole feed bag. With the quantity comes a higher price. $23.99. The extra sauce $2 might not seem to be a lot of money but for the itsy bitsy container, I thought it was pricey. I haven't been here in over a hot minute. As I was driving about looking for a parking space as if I were scouting for dry land from being lost at sea; I realize why it's been over a hot minute since my last visit. Finding parking is ruff. There are few spaces in front of the shops which the stars didn't align for any spots being open when I drove by. There is a parking garage and open lot but it's a walk in. I gave up on the parking garage after driving to the second floor and driving half way through, no available spaces. So I truck back out to the lot in front of Kirkland and See's. I walked in from there, along the way bopping about like frogger trying to cross the lot and crosswalk without getting hit. read more

If you're looking to satisfy a craving for Greek food then this place will hit the spot. I ordered the chicken gyro and it was stuffed with juicy, seasoned chicken, crunchy fries, veggies and tzatziki sauce. The pita was warm and fluffy and the tzatziki sauce was thick, smooth, and really refreshing! My friend order halloumi which I never had before and it was delicious. Then again, can you go wrong with cheese? The only thing I would not order again would be the chocolate baklava. It had a very strange aftertaste that I couldn't figure out. Came here for lunch and the first thing I noticed was how open and spacious the place feels. You order at the counter, grab a number, and they'll bring the food right to your table. I got the chicken gyro wrap and it was packed! they load it up with fries inside, which honestly makes it super filling in the best way. Their self serve fry sauce station is a nice touch too, and adding that sauce to the wrap made it even better. For dessert I tried the chocolate baklava, and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal. It was surprisingly light, flaky, and just sweet enough without being heavy. Overall, the food came out quickly, tasted fresh, and this spot works great for a casual lunch where you want something satisfying without a long wait. The only downside was a small but pretty noticeable issue: when I ordered a regular baklava to go, the cashier used tongs to grab it, but when it wasn't sitting right in the box, she flipped it over with her bare hand. It definitely threw me off because it felt a bit unsanitary, especially happening right in front of customers. I didn't say anything in the moment, but I really wish they'd just stick to tongs the whole way through. Besides that, the place is solid. I ordered the Gyro Plate with Tzatziki sauce, the Avgolemono soup, and a side of fry sauce. The Avgolemono soup, though $9 for a small cup, was hearty, flavorful, and came with warm pita bread. The Gyro Plate featured a generous portion of tender beef and lamb gyro meat with rice pilaf and salad. I chose all salad, because I love their fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. The dish also came with pita and Tzatziki sauce, though I like to pair the gyro meat with their delicious fry sauce. I was in search of a somewhat healthy dinner while staying in Folsom and found Petra Greek on Yelp. Usually I find Greek/Mediterranean food to be healthy so I decided to give it a try. This restaurant is located in the shopping center and would make a perfect spot to fuel up during a day of shopping. There are a handful of tables, which at the time of my visit were mostly filled with diners. Although it was busy, it was loud as most diners were solo or in pairs. Upon entering, I spent a few minutes studying the menu before I was greeted and placed my order. I opted for the Veggie Souvlaki Pita with the side salad/drink combo and an extra side of tzatziki. My food was made to order and only took less than 10 minutes to prepare. I did have to ask for my drink cup as they forgot to give me that. I took my order to go as they didn't have WiFi in the restaurant and I needed to get some work done. It was a short trip to my hotel across the street and I was a bit surprised at how soggy everything had become so quickly. I'm a huge fry girl, it's honestly my go to, but they were a bit soggy and flavorless in the pita. The veggies were grilled and had good flavor, but the entire pita seemed really greasy, which was odd. The tzatziki was a little odd too, it was really thick and was lacking much flavor aside from garlic. Overall I don't think I'd return, but perhaps I just ordered the wrong dish for me. read more

I know Petra Greek restaurants are a Chain but I was really pleased with my meal at The one in the Palladio. They offer a nice Happy Hour Monday-Friday and it was a great portion for a very reasonable price! (especially for The Palladio) I ordered the Soulvaki, which included 3 large skewers of tender, flavorful meat, and fresh, warm, pita bread. The Tiziki sauce tasted great. Today, after ordering $17 salads, I got home to find no salad dressing, the mushiest tomatoes, brown lettuce & I'm pretty sure it usually comes with pita bread, but there was none. I love Greek food, so for years, I go back & forth with Petra Greek. Today marks the day that I officially quit, once again. The last time we got home & hadn't received our soup, I drove all the way back & asked if I could get fresh bread with the soup & was rudely asked, " Didn't you already get some?" It seems that if a customer is not given the food they paid for, has to make a 2nd trip to get the food, there would be some sort of apology or even basic customer service. This particular employee has worked the register for several years and is also hit & miss. Sometimes she is pleasant & other times seems very inconvenienced. Worst Greek food in the Sacramento area. They use to be good, but not after our last take out from Folsom. The owners won't listen to real Greeks for advise because the owners think they know it all. The cooks over-cook everything on the menu unless you beg them to cook menu items half as much as what they think is normal. Feta cheese tastes like terrible. Tomatoes have no taste. Cucumbers are okay. Chicken looks and smells like dead squirrel. Why no Pastitsio, no stuffed green/red peppers, sea food, and other real Greek food items. Don't think your customers will buy it? With many food options at the Palladio center in Folsom, our friend recommended Petra Greek. At first, I balked at the choice since I don't like a lot of pungent spices on my foods, and on top of that I never had Greek food. Boy, was I glad I came here. This nice cozy eatery was half full at 12:30, but I heard the cashier greet customers on a first name basis, which is always a good sign seeing repeat customers. Facility was clean, spacious and well stocked of utensils and condiments. I had no clue what to order, and after voicing my displeasure of spicy foods, I literally ordered a burger. But OMG it was a burger that was out of this world. It looked like a 1/3 lb, hand formed beef/pork patty that was so juicy it seeped through the wax paper. Kosseri cheese was perfect and bun was like a Brioche bun. Fries were piled on the plate (but sold separately with a drink as a combo for$4.50)...well worth it. The wife had the gyro sampler plater that looked like a normal plate offering; literally had to take half home! I did take bites of each protein, and I must say I am now a fan of Greek food! All the proteins were flavorful and not overpowering of any of the array of spices. Our friend ordered the chicken kabob platter, and he couldn't finish his either (and he's a big eater)! He raved about the rice pilaf and the flavorful chicken. The cashier Ariana was courteous, helpful and professional from the time we ordered til the time we rolled out. This place never misses. It's always so darn good. The Saganaki (flaming cheese) is excellent and the mini gyros appetizer was so good we were fighting over who got to finish them. As a Greek who has always been immersed in my culture, food plays a large part in who I am. Typically, at restaurants like these who claim to have authentic Greek food, I am disappointed in what they offer. Not this time. The gyro meat here is done the correct way and is fresh and cooked properly. They also offer options of beefteki and loukaniko, both of which I normally struggle to find. My dad and I ordered a beef/lamb gyro combo (so it came with pilafi or fries and a drink) and the staff was so nice! They pronounced the meal correctly too, which made a big difference to me lol. The gyro had to be one of the most authentic I've had here in the States so far. I have a large appetite, and the gyro was perfect, even the kids meal my brothers got could have been more than enough for me! My mom and brother got the souvlaki plate, and although they each got their own, they agreed they could have shared one as it was plenty for 2 people. The pita was warm and fluffy, the tzatziki and hummus perfectly flavorful. The bathroom was really clean, as was the rest of the restaurant, staff consistently on top of it. The food came out within 5 minutes. THAT is how you run a business. And the dessertssssss- they smelled heavenly and looked flaky and soft. They have 2 kinds of baklava and even kataifi! I've visited both the location here in Folsom and the one in Downtown Sacramento, but it's been a few years since I've visited. I was in Folsom today for a massage and decided to take a trip down to Petra Greek! It was just as amazing as I remember. Fast, fun and friendly service. 3rd time trying this location. They never disappoint me. It is a little pricey compare to other restaurant but it is worth it. I love the combination plate $29 per one person because I love me a lot of meatttt! It is so flavorful, meat so tender and juicy, rice was flavorful, love it. So happy that it is near my work. Solid Greek joint in a big strip mall. Stopped by with the family on the way back to the SF Bay Area from Tahoe. Ample outdoor seating with nice tables/chairs. Bathroom clean and accessible. Staff super friendly and helpful. * gyro salad: plenty of fresh crisp lettuce, tomatoes/olives/cucumber, generous portion of shaved gyro meat on top. Well seasoned dressing. Great way to get your greens with lots of flavor! * gyro plate: soft pita, plenty of meat, veg. A if he's y on red onion but easy to just eat the amount you want. Tzatikzi creamy and rich * feta fries: broiled so the feta is melty. Skin-on fries with good texture. Love that they have ketchup dispensers AND "fry sauce" to dip in! *baklava and Kataifi-like desserts were just so-so. A bit too soggy (like it was made a few days prior rather than within a day) but they had a good amount of nut filling and honey taste was good. Would probably skip next time. I love Petra Greek, they are a destination restaurant for my family and we're willing to drive up to Folsom to eat here. It's right off the freeway in the Palladio Folsom shopping center with plenty of parking in the garage or on the street. Petra has a wide variety of Greek food and none taste greasy. My favorites are the Beef/Lamb Gyro Pita, Gyro Plate, and Baklava. The food taste authentic, fresh, and meets my definition of flawless Greek food. Petra's prices are affordable and the portions are as expected. Ordered food is delivered 10-15 minutes after completion of transaction. There's clean outdoor and indoor seating.
