First as others have mentioned, the place is on the corner of 37th Street and Broadway next to the well marked Dunkin Donuts. The entrance is NOT on Broadway. That would have been really good to know. I was really disappointed that no employee deigned to share that customers should help themselves to condirments and toppings on the side. Usually when a place is not busy, they will ask if you've been here before and show you the amenities. The order process was smooth and the wait was short. I ordered american schnitzel, israeli falafel and fries. The drinks you have to get yourself on the side. If I didn't ask I might have left with no beverages. I asked for a bag (my hands were full holding the order that the server shoved at me. I have gotten better service at a hot dog cart. She pointed me (did not bring me) to bags about ten feet away. I manage to grab one without spilling anything, but could not open it because I thought everything would fall out of the open boxes of food and there was no surface to lean them on. I asked as nicely as I could if she could please open the bag for me so I could carry the stuff out. She condescended to close the boxes (I didn't know they closed) and help me stack them in. I was not told that sauces, condiments, toppings were available for me on the side as it looked like they were already stuffed with condiments. That would definitely have been helpful to know. The fries were not made to order but came from a metal tray-- they were soggy, greasy and lukewarm. Unless you actually see them make fries, I would not order them. I ate the american schnitzel which consisted of three small, thin pieces of chicken cutlets (which were tasty) huddled at the bottom of my pita. On top was: iceberge lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. It came with a white sauce. the faflafel did not come with any sauce but with the pickles lettuce and tomato. If they had added no toppings at all, then I would have known to add something at the topping bar. I used a groupon to eat here, so cost was not a factor in this evaluation. Not a happy a happy camper. I am looking for a kosher falafel restaurant. So, after reading reviews, I decided to check this place out. I was in a hurry and it wasn't crowded.Great! Not so. All the employees were busy having personal conversations. I was never acknowledged. I had to interrupt the conversation to order. Not a thank-you after I ordered. I ordered the falafel platter. It comes with a soda. My falafel and fries were cold. None of the sodas are kosher. I checked every brand. ERRRR.....Not cool. It could have been an off day but the non-kosher sodas.....Someone should look into that. read more

The place opened up by my job a few months ago. I kept walking by it and finally decided to give it a try today. I got falafel and it was so good. Crispy and fresh and you can get unlimited veggies to top it off. And the price was pretty reasonable. Definitely will have it again from now on. The place seems clean too. read more

I just ate a Israeli Falafel from this place and man was it amazing. Large, lots of balls, whole wheat pita option, avocado spread added!, and a nice selection of fresh sauces and condiments to add (for free). I really can say it is the best i've had in Manhattan. Even my twin 13 year old boys loved it. I was in Israel last summer and ate falafel and schwarma every day and this stuff definitely competes with Israeli's best (albeit the scenery cannot compare). The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, patient and fast. The line at lunch hour moved quickly despite the cramped space on a very busy block. Will definitely return. read more

This place has become really hit or miss... If you get there when the falafel just comes out of the fryer, it is a really solid falafel... If you don't, look out! You could get stuck with a cold chewy falafel... But if fresh, Get it in the salad for 9 dollars and it is a really solid meal... Salad bar is really good, although they could put a few more pieces of lettuce in there... I recently went to pitopia on 37 st and did not like the experience..i was in the mood for a falafel yesterday and my co worker told me there's another pitopia walking distance on 34st..i get there and wow,much bigger customer area and much bigger salad bar, much better customer service ( they don't slurred their speech here or scream) the girl at the register is very polite and reminds you to fill up your falafel..i will be sticking with this pitopia from now on read more

I went here twice because I got 2 coupons for Pitopia. I went in for lunch around 12.30ish and there was a short line. This place is simple and convenient for both sit-downs (with wooden tables and colorful chairs) and take-outs. You pick up your favorite drink while you're in line to order. Overall: - Order process&service: very quick. After 7-10', you'll get your food. (hooray, this will shut my roaring stomach!). The staff was nice. The first time I went, the guy smiled at me and told me to come back tomorrow. The second time, the lady gave me a free frech fries. - Food: I had a falafel sandwich (first time) and a sharwama (second time). The falafel was crispy, well-seasoned and not too dry. The sharwama was extremely salty to me (yikes, I'm not a big fan of salty food) and I had to get some sweet sauces to neutralize the saltiness. - Free extras: they have a bar of all the extras (like 12 of them) you can get: coleslaw, grilled eggplants, sauerkraut, Indian-styled chickpeas, beetroot, etc. Right next to this bar, they have 7-8 types of sauces: Tahini (my first time trying this interesting sauce), Wasabi (the color looks a bit odd to me@@), Gen Tso (the one to make general Tso chicken), Ketchup, etc. Yea, I know, you guys broke fresh grads hunting for jobs like myself would totally love this place. Very solid falafel. The price is right for a falafel and the put-in-anything-that-fits into your sandwich or salad works out nicely. The salads are fresh and they have wonderful sauces (Tehini, Cilantro Mayo and others) that really compliment any sandwich or salad. I like the salad with falafel in it for $8.00 best because of the value. 5 large falafel balls over lettuce with unlimited salad and sauce. Fast and friendly service here. read more

I went in a couple of days ago after buying a groupon deal. What can I say.. this place has one of the worst falafel i've ever tasted in my life. Thats as simple as that. The service wasn't great, the guy at the front was training his 6-year old kid on how to use the registerer , kid took a while to get my order, then messed up the order so the father had to intervene and fix the issue. All issues aside, I would've given them a good review, but the food sucked. Totally do not recommend this place, at all. Dont waste your money. read more

If I could I would give this place an all arounds 5 . But a 4 for the lack of music in the background and for the lack of space. Other than that the food is fresh as it can get. I ordered a humus bowl which is a plastic container filled with humus that comes with a choice of one free topping . For mine I chose mixed veggies but there is a wide choice to choose from. It also comes with a side of the freshest pita I have ever had . I think I would have to disagree with one of the other reviews where it comes to the salad guy . After I made it to the end of the counter I found him to be funny and refreshing to the some what bland atmosphere. I found him to have the right amount of zest as well as wit . Plus with his knowledge of the salads added great help for deciding what I wanted in my small salad box that I ordered with my humus bowl for my wife! I must say he was right my wife enjoyed everybit of her salad. I believe that once they fix the no music and space problem the can be a really great for NYC working people or even just the hustle and bustle strollers of midtown manhattan! Tthe quality of the food is very good here. I never had the falafel, but the lamb shawarma is scrumptious and succulent, and the schnitzels are delicious. I usually get the schnitzel platter with a sweet barbecue sauce, and it comes with round, seasoned fried potatoes and salad bar. These fries are crispy and well-seasoned, and the salad bar is full of fresh, crisp vegetables, pleasing to the eye and the palate. I'm partial to the eggplant and the cole slaw. The location is very convenient, and they run great specials for schnitzel sandwiches, falafel, shawarma, and other meals, prices almost unheard of in a kosher store in Manhattan. The only issue is that the place is intended for takeout. It's only a tad larger than a hole in the wall, and it gets packed in there during peak times. The garlic mayo is an addictive sauce for your fries, shawarma, and other items, and the sauces in general are a big draw. The line can be out the door sometimes. The food is delicious, but if you want to eat it there, be prepared to be packed in like sardines on those small, uncomfortable elevated stools. read more
