I had a meal from Chick Shop courtesy of my office's lunch delivery today. A lot of the restaurant choices we get are sort of underwhelming, so I was not expecting much- but wow, this was fantastic! When my expectations are low I tend to keep it vegetarian, so I got a sabih platter. The eggplant was flavorful, smoky, and soft, almost melting into the hummus. And the hummus--- the hummus!! I don't think I've ever had a hummus so rich and creamy. With summer fast approaching, I told myself I wasn't going to eat the pita... but I needed a few small pieces of pita to scoop the last little bits of hummus from the corners of the tray, and unfortunately discovered that the pita was amazingly fluffy- so abandoned self control and ate the whole thing. I will definitely be checking out Chick Shop in person and will probably try a hummus bowl next time to maximize the hummus-to-other-stuff ratio. So good. read more

I get the hummus bowl with either fried cauliflour and/or falafel added. Always amazing and high quality fresh products. Service is always fast, even if you skip the app. They look out and give two pitas with the hummus bowl which is needed! Great pita too! Lots of carbs with the pita so i dont get it all the time, but when I do its a special treat. Its a little hidden in an office buildings basement food court but worth any trouble in finding it. read more

I am digging this spot. It's located in the lower level of 805 Third Ave. (The Atrium). While it's not new, it is fairly new to me. Not going to lie, I'm usually all about the meat but I'm trying to make myself eat healthier and more clean. This is a great spot to start. I've been here twice already and loved both my meals! First visit I had the roasted cauliflower over quinoa. It was delicious - the flavor combination worked well. And the roasted cauliflower had a hint of smokiness coupled with the nice char, it was amazing. I could eat that all day! The portion is on the smaller side, think the small plastic salad container size. But they put plenty of quinoa to fill it up. I'm still adjusting to eating smaller portions so this was just enough for what it was but I could've used some pita or something else on the side. Something small perhaps like a side of falafel. The manager was on hand that visit and heard me say it was my first time there so he told me to hang on just after giving me my order. Then handed me a nice piping hot falafel ball with tahini sauce on top in a tasting dish. It was so good. Especially since it was hot! I devoured it before even making it up the escalator to exit the building. Will definitely return for more. Second visit was on Friday, 1/18/19. This time I ordered the Tabouli with tomatoes and roasted eggplant. The eggplant was cooked perfectly - soft on the flesh part and crispier on the skin part. It was really good... Just wish they gave more. It only came with two pieces. Decent size but still... again, same small salad container portioned meals. I noticed on the menu they will have a chick pea burger soon... Can't wait. If it's anything like what I've tried so far, I bet that will be even more outstanding. Please hurry and make it already. I'm dying to try it. read more

The Chick Shop serves delicious, fresh, Mediterranean food with nice staff and relatively fair Midtown prices for the portion size. Located INSIDE 805 THIRD AVE, down the lobby escalator, next to Pampano and the Poke shop. While the counter is small, the options are varied and solid. I ordered a falafel platter and added a ton of sides - the hummus, eggplant, beets, quinoa. It came with a fluffy pita. The hot sauce is fruity and spicy. The falafel is crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle and well seasoned and oh so good. The hummus is excellent - while initially plain, its very solidly executed. Eggplant is tasty, if oily (but I haven't been to a place where the eggplant isn't oily). The beets are refreshing and not sour. The shepherd's salad is crisp and flavorful and not soggy. I am so so so happy you Yelpers led me to my new favorite falafel joint. They also do pita sandwiches ($9-10) and salads, but if you're a big eater, the platters ($12-14) are where its at. I was introduced to this place via MealPal. I like their trio with cabbage salad, hummus and marinated beets. The eggplant is a bit watery, but it is still good as a dipping sauce. Their hummus is very smooth and thick, it is perfect with the warm pita bread provided with the trio. Definitely one of the places with the best hummus I have tasted so far in Midtown East. I would definitely try more dishes from here in the future. They usually get very busy around lunchtime, so try to go earlier or later to beat the crowd. read more

Food is extremely oily and I was only able to eat half of it before getting a headache. I would love to have more accurate pictures of an updated reflection of the menu because I was quite disappointed when I had been drawn over there by a few enticing pictures on yelp and later finding it that those items were either discontinued or look completely different from the picture. Portions are also pretty small. I think it's probably better to just pay extra to add one of the sides to your bowl or pita instead of getting the sides platter. The people are really nice, even though they come off very strong and abrasive. They care; and that was nice. It is also a bit misleading since they offer so many vegan options but still have feta for their salads, so it's hard to tell whether the sauces will be dairy free and whether the fried ball with mushroom has meat or not. Overall I think the best items were the roasted cauliflower and the falafel. I would probably get it on a salad or hummus bowl next time. But There probably won't be a next time since for my travels I want to find places that make a highlight to visit. This is a great place for people working in the area to get lunch everyday but I wouldn't go out of my way to come out here if you're time is limited. read more

I have been coming here for lunch for the past few weeks, and each day I'm greeted by the owner, who is not only an amazing chef, but a pleasure to talk to. He is extremely generous and has given me samples on more than one occasion! After the first time I came, he remembered me, which added to the family vibe at this place. While the service is an important part of where I choose to eat, the food is equally important. The Chick Shop delivers in this realm as well. The falafel pita and hummus bowl are two of my favorites, and I'm eagerly awaiting the falafel burger, which is a new meal that will be featured shortly. This is my second time coming to this place, and I have to say, I was really looking forward to my falafel sandwich, but was left extremely underwhelmed. I got a falafel sandwich during both visits, and the first time it was really good, but super heavy on the salad/cabbage/pickles, which I asked them to modify during my trip today. Same falafel sandwich with salad and cabbage, but no pickles. This part and the hummus and baba ganoush were excellent. My issue this trip was 100% with the falafel balls. The batch I got today was extremely dry, and I ended up tossing 2 of the 5 that were in my sandwich. I was also a bit annoyed that they'd run out of wheat pitas when I got my food, as I wish they had not run out of them. Overall, based off the good reviews, it seems like I may have just gotten a bad batch of falafel balls and need to try this place again because I don't remember that being a problem from my first trip - so, hopefully I'll get to try this place again soon and post an updated review! read more

I love this place. I've been coming here during my lunch break multiple times a week since I discovered it. The menu is simple but the food is so good. Bedsides the falafel (which is amazing), the fries are soooo good and the pomegranate ginger lemonade is unbelievable, I could drink it all day. Prices are very reasonable for Midtown Manhattan. It's been a while since I had a falafel sandwich and The Chick Shop was a great reintroduction to it and a reminder of how much I love falafel in general. I got the falafel pita in whole wheat, spicy with pickles on the side. Definitely will just get the pickles included next time because it added a really great bite and flavor to each bite. The cabbage already adds a lot of crunch and texture on its own. The falafel it's self is reaaallllyyy well spiced, absolutely loved it. Nicely fried with that dry-ish taste so those spices really come through with each bite. Next time I will ask for heavier spicy paste added as it was annoying to keep adding more spice every bite since I asked for some on the side. The sandwich is HUGE and I almost couldn't finish it surprisingly ! So at the price point it's at (around $10) this is a really worthwhile lunch. Will definitely be back again read more
