I came in on my first day of vacation to this diner for a quick breakfast. It was not bad but it was not good. The waitress forgot my water like five times and I'm usually patient but come on. Went to Piu Bello Gelato & Restaurant for lunch at 01:00 pm on 08June2024 at it was just okay. I had the Cuban Sandwich, my sister had the Club Sandwich, and my mom had a Chicken Avocado Sandwich. There are bathrooms and the inside has A/C. However, the parking was very difficult and the service was bad. It took about 45 minutes to receive the sandwich's and the fries were cold (almost like they were sitting). We thought maybe the server forgot to put the order in, but that doesn't explain the cold fries. We had to chase down the server to get the check and pay. Handicap accessibility will take you to the rear of the property through a car park area . Once inside it's easy to access the Resturant and the hotel it is affiliated with. We had two breakfast dishes and one entree. They do not have decaf coffee-- drats but the fresh squeezed lemonade was good. The hot chocolate was tasty. It's hard to mess up eggs - but the scrambles were not that good, they were more like chopped slivers of egg, it was weird. They lacked seasoning. The home fries were very oily. I had steak and eggs which was an omelet on the menu which I wanted deconstructed. I wanted skirt steak with two eggs over easy. The steak I had was basically steamed and unseasoned. The eggs were perfect. The house salad was unremarkable with thinly sliced tomato and cucumber and very fresh romaine lettuce. The carnitas and rices and beans were very enjoyed by my auntie. We asked for water and she brought us 2 bottled waters and they charged us $1.99 each when others around us had iced water that was more than likely zero cost. This was the second to last place that my husband and I visited before we came back home. Let's just say it's more known for the gelato which we were unable to try. This became my fiancee's favorite breakfast almost everyday of our honeymoon stay in San Juan, Puerto Rico.He claims anyone coming to Puerto Rico needs to try this. Off to the next thing we both ordered which was a cappuccino this is not your typical Starbucks cappuccino that has no flavor. This cappuccino is made specially in all the restaurants with whipped topping and cinnamon which brings out the taste. Think of those nespresso machines we sell here, that is how it is made in every restaurant. My husband also recommends getting the juice if you come in for breakfast it's freshly made and doesn't have all that bad stuff natural juices have. However, we did grab a couple scoops of the gelato (there's always room for dessert!). So the 3/3.5 star is based on gelato and service alone. The gelatos we tried were creamy, but the flavors were hit-or-miss. Our fave was the Choco Bariloche! A chocolate lover's dream! It reminds me of a slightly milder version of Haagen Dazs' Midnight Cookies n' Cream. Our least fave was the Hazelnut Cookie. The taste was cloyingly sweet and heavy with almond extract. The consistency of this one is also a little more icy than the others. Service could have been better. The ladies behind the counter were not attentive and much more interested in their own conversation. I had to ask a few times to be helped before my SO came over; he was catered to immediately. Overall, the experience we had was average. Maybe if we were dining in it would have been different.
