Old Balltown, Castalia Chocolate Raspberry Stout, Wadena Whiskey Wee Heavy, Muscatine Brett

Coming in here feels like going to the local neighborhood joint where the staff makes you feel like family and the patrons all know each other from around town. This is our second time here and it's so wonderful to go to a brewery where there's also some food to complement the delicious taps. I got a flight of four: 1. Old Balltown: my favorite. Barrel-aged but is smooth and not too strong as far as that husky feel on the tongue. Lovely aftertaste. 2. Castalia Chocolate Raspberry Stout: raspberry is definitely a good balance with stout. Very delicious. 3. Wadena Whiskey Wee Heavy: ale with strong hint of molasses. Just so so good! 4. Muscatine Brett: yummy ale. Too hard not to love them all! The spicy smoked pretzels, old fashion brat, beer cheese and pretzel are all delicious Brewery food!

A destination place, PIVO brewery offers a large selection of brews, and ciders. The Jackson Junction Pear Cider is perfectly refreshing. The chipotle farmhouse ale has the perfect amount of smoke and a bit of spice at the back end. Food- The Sarais a delicious sandwich.

I'm originally from West, Texas - a Czech town where "pivo" just means "beer". And I think that's a great name for this brewery, where the selection of pivo is HUGE. The most beer-savvy in my group raved about how each beer they tried was "on point", i.e. a textbook example of that kind of beer. My Cuban sandwich was very tasty, though a bit small. Our server was nice and did a good job. Although I didn't find a new must-have beer, it was definitely worth stopping by.

We were up in Decorah for the afternoon and someone suggested Pivo. The food was very reasonable priced and tasted great. So many beers to choose from. They gave us a pen and has circle what we wanted for beer in the menu. We enjoyed the afternoon trying beers. Definitely would stop again, when we are up here

I love the fact the the beers are named after towns in the area! "Cresco Cream Ale." The staff was super knowledgeable about the beer and with recommendations based on what we like. The meat and cheese tray came from a local locker...and that is awesome...it did come with head cheese (it's not for everyone, but I like it). It was surprising how quickly the tables filled up- lunch time is very popular- the menu is small but made with love. And the PIVO stickers are FREE!

Such a great place to spend the afternoon. Blown away by the amount of homegrown brew on tap. Brewmaster really knocked it out of the park. Food menu looked fabulous as well. We enjoyed the names of the beers and the fact they were locally honored. Veteran owned with a lot of love put into the place. Looked like a great place to have a wedding reception- one was going on in separate area while we were there.

Yummy munchies! Loved the soft, warm pretzel.

We checked this out during the beautiful fall color season. We were happy that they were taking the necessary precautions during the pandemic. We were both in awe of their extensive beer offerings. They make almost all types of beers, so hopefully something for everyone. Including non alcoholic beverages. To top it off, they had a nice little menu of food offerings. We both sampled a few of them and they went well with tje beer we selected. I had a great time doing a flight or 2 of a variety of beers. Personally I liked their beer selection better than other nearby breweries.

A lot of folks coming in that were biking around the local trails. The community is homey and the space from inside the taproom to outside on the patio embodies that vibe. I got a flight on their trout flight board and sat outside. Red Sky Honey Cranberry: A Honey Ale brewed with Cranberry and Honey Malt. Medium-low sweetness with a low tartness that comes from the bitter cranberry. The honey provides a pleasant balance to it that ensures the cranberry doesn't take over the ale.  Local Yokel Session IPA: A Session IPA inspired by the West Coast IPA style. Using local Civil Sass grown in Southeast Minnesota right up the roat in Chatfield hops provides a pleasant bitterness with a low grapefruit zest flavor.  Egromaniac Rye IPA: A Rye IPA that doesn't shy away from the bold spicy notes of the rye malt. The IPA is packed with flavor with a full body, high hop bitterness, and high rye spiciness. Blueberry Seasonal: A very enjoyable blueberry seasonal that isn't online, but when the beertender told me about it I jumped right on it. It was almost like a blueberry breakfast bread - malty, blueberry fruity, and downright drinkable. My favorite of the four. ___________________

We wanted to get to the brewery at a time that wasn't on Jim's schedule and he was very accommodating and came and picked us up within 5 minutes of us calling him. Awesome. He was just as available when we wanted to head back to our hotel. My main issue? No where on any advertisement did it say that it cost $10/person one way, and we didn't find out until half way through the drive to the brewery. The perfect storm of confusion: -The Toppling Goliath website said they had shuttles -There was no price listed on his schedule -There WAS a price listed on the schedule of the other shuttle company. -We we're not asked to pay when we boarded the bus. -The front desk staff told us "the other company costs $10" (and in hindsight she must have made the same assumptions we did) ...all of which made us assume the shuttle was free. Now I get that Jim wasn't driving out of the goodness of his heart. Everyone has to make a living. But we assumed someone else was paying him, obviously incorrectly. SO. While we were annoyed that we didn't know the cost ahead of time, I'll still give it four stars. He was super quick, but should have told us before we boarded that it cost $10.

The brewery itself is really well-built with a cozy, welcoming vibe. There's plenty of seating inside, plus a great outdoor area that I can imagine would be perfect on a warm day. They offer a great variety of beers to suit most palates. We tried a flight that included: * Lanesbrew American Lager - Crisp and super refreshing, one of our favorites. * Willow Citrus Wheat Ale - Light and citrusy, great for an easy sip. * Gnarly Old Ale - Rich, flavorful, and full of character--definitely a standout. * Butterbeer Weisse - A fun, slightly sweet way to wrap things up. It made a great final note to the tasting. On top of the drinks, they also offer pizza and a few snacks onsite, which is a nice bonus if you're feeling a little hungry while you sample. Overall, Sylvan Brewery is a solid stop if you're in or around Lanesboro. Great beer, good vibes, and I'm sure the view gets even better as the season turns. Would definitely return!

The Shitty Lyte beer I expected to taste like a regular domestic... had a little..something to it, I can't describe it, but a little punch.
